We are a small not for profit and needed a system that was going to be easy enough to user for our rotation of unpaid volunteers as well as support some more custom workflows like bar tabs. Lightspeed was the sweet spot and offered great value as well. The UI is simple and elegant and the workflow is straightforward and logical. Lightspeed was very easy to implement, it's cut down on the time required to order and receive stock into inventory and do cycle counts to keep our inventory levels accurate. We use Light Speed to offer credit to some accounts, managing credit accounts is efficient and easy. we also take some of our terminals to Trade Shows for selling products and remote set up is always quick and effortless, the processes flow as smoothly as if we were back in our store. Cons

Receipt Customization would be nice Receipt do not print Credit Account information as it was at time of sale, but as it is when you reprint, having archived receipts would help with reconciling accounts with customers when questions arise.

### "A real review"

Pros

1\. We have 4 stores, and with a shared inventory, it has made things simpler. 2. Lot's of small customizable menu's gives a range of flexibility. 3. The ability to use a POS from anywhere, on most platforms is amazing. 4. Support is also a key, and they have been great. 5. Super stable, in 2 years there have only been 2 times the server went down, and both were fixed in under 10 minutes.

Cons

1\. Building a Special order, and transferring it, is clunky, and hard to train staff on. It works, but could use some streamlining. 2. It uses a shared search, for all of the different tabs. So if you are trying to search for a just a labor type, you have to select labor, every line. Still works, just clunky. 3. Lastly, if you sell an item, not in inventory, there is only a yellow warning, at the top of the screen. would be better if it had a "are you sure" and a red warning. All of this aside, the inventory, labor management, reporting, POS, Work Order, and PO to SO tracking, makes this so much easier.

Disgraceful would never recommend !

Pros

No positive features! Back office not easy to navigate need to be a computer genius, their txt msg instruction is disgraceful.

Cons

Quick to sign you up, their after sales service is disgraceful !! No prioritise when urgent! Have lost sales due to incompetence. Whole system shut down after an upgrade no apologies! Never get emails or response back from management.

### "Very Disappointing on Many Levels, Mainly After Sales Services and Tech Support"

We moved forward with lightspeed on high hopes, unfortunately it was a bad experience overall starting with the very beginning. We got shut down during covid before we even started the operation or set up of the system yet the subscription wasn't put on hold and we were advised that this cannot be changed, which is ok as long as we get the service we were promised. Once we started our operation, the problems started, we don't get any support form the tech team. We book a meeting to discuss integration, and instead we get a sales pitch to add more modules. We book a meeting for support, and no one shown up from Lightspeed. We book a meeting to obtain support, and we get sent a video instead lol. When we contact our first contact from Lightspeed Sales team, we never get a response back... Seriously, you need to reevaluate your service levels and very fast because from the reviews and I wish I had checked the reviews first, Lightspeed in my experience is a major let down on many levels.

Pros

Like all other softwares, it has an easy interface

Cons

The support, the ease of setup, the payment process link with the hardware, the speed of service and response from the tech team

### "Nowhere near what it should be"

Pros

It's an easy interface to navigate. Sometimes, the support is friendly. Sometimes, the support is useful.

Cons

It's ok if you're a small boutique, but if you have thousands of SKUs take a pass - Lightspeed can't handle it. It's constantly stalling and and crashing. Support told us we needed new computers. We did that - no improvement and we're out thousands in unnecessary computer upgrades. The support team straight up lies to tell you a feature is coming until you re-sign, then tell you that feature was never being worked on and won't be anytime soon. There are simple things like splitting a receipt into multiple gift receipts (a must for a major retail store selling multiple gifts to one person) that Lightspeed can't do. You have to ring each transaction in separately, upping your checkout time hugely. Every restaurant software on the market can split bills, but for some reason, LS can't. Support is fair at times, surly at others. You can just tell everyone working on it has zero understanding of what a functioning retail store is actually like. If you run a sales report for seasonal products you sold last summer for example, it will include every product you've ever had, whether it's current or not. I could go on for ever.

### "Wish I'd gone with Quickbooks!"

Have used Lightspeed for over 8 years. It is expensive and it is very difficult to sync with Quickbooks accounting software... causes many headaches. Customer service is terrible and the service contracts are very expensive for small business owners. I would not recommend this product. They have made very little improvements in the 8 yrs I have been using this product. It is a huge time suck.

Pros

works with Mac ... but in hindsight I would have set up a PC POS.

Cons

expensive, doesn't sync well with leading accounting software, not compatible with Quickbooks online, poor customer service, does not track sales by hour, can't find problems with Unbalanced GL Accounts, difficult to analyze sales. managing a large inventory is difficult with this POS.

The investment on new equipment is extremely expensive. You need to have Apple devices You can't use cheaper alternatives for receipt printers either, you have to invest in the most expensive ones out there. If I knew this from the beginning I wouldn't have waste months trying to set up the system. They should have been open and tell me exactly how much I was going to spend only to start running the business. Even the barcode label printer will only work with an specific brand that costs almost 3 times than a generic. If you are ok with paying 3 times more than every other POS system, then this is your choice.

Pros

It seems to have everything in one solid platform

Cons

This System DOES NOT work with Android which I was never told!

Because of the e-commerce platform integration and because they had more time in the market. Better reviews. But Epos Now was a close call.

Lightspeed has saved me hours of time by integrating multiple systems. I really swear by this product! It has helped me grow my business.

Pros

Its ease of use is probably the number one factor, but it is followed by the live inventory on the internet. The program is continuously evolving and improving and the staff has been great!

Cons

The only real draw back I see is that there is no offline function.

Though it made my life a lot easier, I just did not find it worth the money.

Pros

Inventory, part history etc... was all very helpful and user friendly, scanners & inventory integration was also a great help.

Cons

The scheduler was no user friendly. You could only schedule a customer on a specific date, but not a time, they had made some changes throughout my experience using the system, but it was never quite right. Also, a big one, was that it was not Canadian compatible.

It is a nonintuitive program that bogs down our time for a sale.Customer support is nonexistent. When using the chat, we are only passed along articles that have nothing to do with the questions and or concerns we have. We can not get a human on the phone or any email response.

Pros

The user interface was my first draw to Lightspeed. Ease of use and mostly easy workflows pulled me in. We also like the numerous integratabtle add ons available. The multi-store feature works well.

Cons

It did not believe in negative numbers but that is changing. We do not like that custom fields don't save the same way as other standard fields.

We had multiple stores and we needed the transfer and multi-store management that Lightspeed offers. We were also looking for a point of sale that integrated well with ecommerce.

Our business had been searching for a POS system that was able to handle the huge inventory that we have in addition to the large number of clients that we take care of on a daily basis. We’d tried a few in the past but with one thing or another they just didn’t suit the purpose that we needed. Either the inventory management was lacking or the user-friendliness required to streamline our sales was. Enter Lightspeed. First of all the import of data from our old system to the new was almost flawless and the minor issues we did have were taken care of by a member of their excellent support staff almost as quickly as the issues presented themselves. The inventory management part of the POS is amazing. Not only is it incredibly accurate it’s also super easy to navigate! I can build purchase orders and enter inventory received so much faster than I had been able to in the past. When I say that this has saved me personally hours of time I am not exaggerating! A job that used to take me hours is now done in a matter of minutes. The system itself is so very user friendly that even the least computer literate of our team has no problem navigating the software. Add to the fact that we can use it portably while running on an iPad or other tablet and this system really has improved the way that we are able to interact with and help our clients. Worst experience ever with any POS company.

Pros

I didn't get to use this product at all so I don't have any pros.

Cons

The agents have no idea what they're talking about. I asked my agent multiple times if this system would work for the loyalty program we have implemented in store and I was told yes every time. So I bought into the system, spend hundreds. They refused to refund me even though it was their fault I bought into a system that would not work for me. Then they told me not to worry about sending back the terminal, because it was a free part of their promotion and now they're trying to tell me I have to pay in full for the terminal. AVOID!

I didn't and wouldn't recommend anyone else choose Lightspeed over any other product.

### "Fan of Lightspeed"

I have been happy with Lightspeed since day one. Customer service is terrific, and they will do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of a problem. I appreciated that customer service is available on the weekends, which is most helpful for a retailer.

Pros

I have been using Lightspeed for several years, and it has been smooth sailing all along. I came from using an old school cash register, so it was a bit of a leap. And I am of a "certain age", so there was a learning curve there too! The learning curve proved to be pretty simple, and the nice folks in customer service have been helpful and patient every step of the way... and continue to be, years later.

Cons

The only difficulty for me is that Lightspeed no longer interfaces directly with my website platform, which means I pay for a gateway so I can manage information between the two. Added expense.

It is capable software system can handle your small retail shop with ease. inventory management, barcoding, point of sale, price tracking, reports etc all work well. It is bit hard to reach for customer service and lots of training required.

Pros

Software is intact, does not give random errors. you can count on

it is a bit hard to settle if you have an inventory at some other software. it would be better to have more sync options.

Me and my team got the benefits of powerful data which helped us make decisions to maximize sales, focus marketing efforts on slow moving items, disband some items and even introduce new ones based on trends. The biggest benefit is being able to quickly add a menu item, discount or special which could go live in a matter of seconds. All on the cloud.

Pros

Lightspeed is easy to use, fully customizable which I can do by myself and best of all, it is all cloud-based so I can acesss my sales real-time, and get data anywhere in the world. I love that it syncs with my inventory management software and Quickbooks too! Then user interface is friendly and there are many features that make it customizable to my business needs.

Cons

The standard reporting software is okay but only scratches the surface in my view. To get deeper reports you have to contact sales and possibly pay extra. I would have preferred to have as much data and reports at my disposable as possible, coming standard with the software.

### "Nothing but problems."

Lightspeed's products have one strong point: A broad set of features. Lightspeed has made sure to buy software with a lot of capabilities to resell. Unfortunately, this means that they don't seem to actually know how their software works. In the three years I've been using their software it's been the most unreliable and unstable piece of software I've ever used. Their desktop program still crashes on a daily basis and many functionality problems have not been fixed. The current version of our website has been running for about a year with major functionality problems that, to my knowledge, Lightspeed hasn't even looked into. The new version (eCommerce) which we're being forced to upgrade to, isn't actually finished or feature complete. They claim to support payment processors that they don't support, and of the few that are supported some of them aren't even functional in Canada, the country where Lightspeed is located. They clearly don't take customer service or their clients' business seriously. With the amount of problems we've had and the amount of money we've spent, I would expect some sort of account manager to contact us and make sure everything is working smoothly in order to retain us as a customer, but that just doesn't seem to be a priority.

Pros

Plenty of features. Easy to learn.

Cons

Incredibly unstable and unreliable. Poor customer service. Very expensive. Lack of updates or further development. Largely exclusive to Apple products.

### "Great for data but poor for layaways"

Pros

The system had a lot of options how to track customers, review data and input items (and find them)! It was very easy to integrate a lot of features and make use of all reports. Easy for all employees to use and very rarely glitched. Customer support was always happy to help with teamviewer to walk through any issues or concerns.

Cons

My business was heavily layaway based and I found the program to be lacking in this department. It was not streamlined and the item would simply deduct additional payments but would not be reported in the same matter as other transactions of the day and affect totals and comparative reviews. It was difficult to make split payments and add/remove merchandise to the customer without always make some sort of mistake.
