However, some of the more successful projects have "outgrown" Limelight's capabilities and graduated to a more customized solution. Having said that, few have regretted starting with Limelight, and you could credit them for ultimately helping their clients outgrow their basic capabilities. Pros Limelight's Video Platform has a lot of commonly-needed features right out of the box. If you're looking to deploy a video-based solution quickly, and you don't want to build and assemble every component from a "base metal" starting point, Limelight's turnkey solution can save you a lot of time and money. Like many out-of-the-box products, it may not have all the bells and whistles you need (and it may have extra bells and whistles that you don't), but it's well-aligned with most common web-based video needs. Cons Because you're purchasing (or licensing) Limelight's proprietary software along with their actual Content Delivery Network (CDN), you may run into limitations and constraints in terms of what you can do with the video player.
