My clients can view all documents awaiting signatures in one location rather than digging thru 40+ email links. They click sign and go (even on their phones) and within a minute or two i receive a completed, fully signed document back into my inbox. Pros Simple version... I have a document that requires a signature and my client is 3 cities away. Prior to Docusign, i would print/scan/e-mail/send/follow-up with my client for 2 weeks to try to get them to return the signed document. Now, i drop-in the pdf document, add little box's where the signature and writing areas should be placed, hit-send and it returns to me signed/dated and if they forget i can view/see if they've opened it and send them a nudge. Cons An envelope will count as soon as you hit send regardless of whether your recipient ever views it; therefore you are paying to be ignored. Personal (the lowest plan) costs $5/month and you cannot purchase additional envelopes. If you have a busy week (and let’s face it we all do at times), you are out of luck. The plans jump significantly to the next level ($25/user/year) per user per year with a cap. My non-tech savvy signers are prompted to create an account prior to signing anything. Docusign is by far my favorite for the straight forward instructions as well as the options for signing with different fonts or even using your real signature. Pros The simplicity and straight forward instructions make signing any type of document easy. I never had any kind of confusion on next steps. Navigating documents are easy both on mobile and on desktop. Cons The price for Docusign is a little bit aggressive and the renewal and cancellation process is not as simple as I would appreciate it being. It's easy to upload documents, send the links to employees, and download the completed documents after. Highly recommend to all businesses looking for a better way of doing HR. Pros Docusign made it really easy to send out employee contracts to new and existing employees. It makes signing for things simple and I find that I get my contracts signed back way quicker than just sending over a normal PDF. Cons Although getting documents back is quicker than traditional PDFs, it still takes a good amount of time setting up the document on the platform for the employees to sign. For a company our size with no legal department, that’s real money saved not having to chase down signatures. I’d recommend it to any small textile studio without hesitation. Pros I'll admit I was pretty skeptical about signing anything without a pen actually in my hand. But now, I just push out licensing agreements to three fabric mills in Lancashire and get all three back within 48 hours. That beats the hell out of waiting two weeks for the post. Plus, the audit trail shows exact timestamps, which really matters when we're trying to track 40-odd print approvals every season. Cons The mobile app crops our tech pack PDFs weirdly on an iPad, so I make sure to check signature placement on a desktop before I send anything over to a buyer. Getting the templates for those recurring NDAs set up took me a good hour the first time around, but it’s been fine ever since. It made signing and sending documents quick and secure without needing to print, scan, or mail paperwork. The ability to sign from any device and track document status was especially helpful. Cons The biggest downsides of DocuSign were that some features required a paid subscription, email notifications could get overwhelming, and occasionally the signing process was confusing when multiple people needed to sign. I also found that opening documents or navigating the platform could sometimes feel slower than necessary. I think it's a pretty simple and user friendly website. Since my company covers the cost of subscriptions, I can't speak to that but I see that the business plan is around $40/ month, I think for an organization as big as the one I work for, this is a very reasonable cost for each user because we handle a lot of contracts every single day. Pros I like that it makes obtaining e-signatures remotely a very simple and straightforward process. Within seconds of sending an envelope for signing, the signer/s get the email notification and can sign right away. I like that it also allows you to set the signing order so the document is sent following the order required for signatures. It's also a pretty feature being able to copy someone on for visibility without them needing to sign so if they are in need of an executed contract, for example, they can get notified once all parties sign. Cons I use it mainly for routing contracts within my organization but the administrator sets a retention limit so at times I have to remember to save those documents before they get purged. That's not necessarily a DocuSign issue though but it's proven tedious for me to refer back to contracts when I needed to. Pros The DocuSign signing workflow integrates with Google Drive, lets us set signing order, and the mobile app is handy for on‑the‑go approvals. It keeps documents in a single folder, and the audit trail is clear. Cons The only downside is that the support response can be slow; I had to wait 48 hours for a fix to a custom field issue.
