Pros: This is the number one tool for people in the construction industry to have. Having the ability to work on the same PDF with multiple people at the same time is a game changer. No more having to drive an hour for a 15 minute meeting. You can also scale the plans so that you can pull dimensions. It's AutoCad integration is super helpful. I don't have to redraw a whole sheet of detail or trace an imported jpeg anymore. This has saved me days upon days of work on projects.

Cons: The software isn't foolproof and has some glitches. I've had it boot people off of a shared pdf and not export the whole pdf. It's not translated notes properly when I try to send the drawing out. All of these things are minor glitches that happen every now and then.

Overall: I work with blueprints daily. This makes my job so much smoother. I can link in an engineer or architect and we can discuss issues right on the spot and share notes. If at some point down the road something changes, we can look up the old notes we put on the drawings. By far the best PDF viewer I have ever had the chance to use.

Comments: Great adobe altering tool

Pros: Love the ease of altering documents and marking up existing contracts and documents with the different fonts

Cons: The take off tool is to be desired. Need to have more of a variety of choices with the measuring tool.

Comments: Overall Bluebeam does it all, and more.

Pros: This really can do everything i need, from watermarking, signatures, and notation, to measurements, editing, and creation of new documents. Bluebeam can also import/export from PDF to office files, which has been invaluable for me.

Cons: Bluebeam has some very powerful features, that took me a while to figure out. Online tutorials were very helpful, but it took some effort to learn what and how to do some specific tasks

Bluebeam just does so many different things.

Comments: Bluebeam Revu is easy to learn, almost everyone in our office uses it.

Pros: the adaptability of bluebeam revu is what I like the best, you can do takeoffs, mark-up drawings, draw up plans to scale,, there is still so much more to learn.

Cons: I can't really think of anything that is a con except maybe the initial cost, but it pays for its self over and over again.

Comments: This may be extremely appealing to AEC industry companies, but my advice as an IT professional is save yourself the headache and just go with Adobe. Adobe is more expensive in the long-run but the price savings with Bluebeam isn't worth the time you'll spend with unhappy end users who can't do basic tasks, not to mention the hours you'll spend dealing with Bluebeam's support staff who doesn't care and developers who have clearly not tested their products before going live.

Pros: Bluebeam comes with lots of features for AEC industry users. It also comes with lots of customization options for how the product is used/viewed.

Cons: Where to start...half of the important features have bugs; either they only partially work or they don't work at all. The "stapler" is great in concept but their execution of it is terrible. Why do we need two windows to simply combine pdfs?? They offer editable pdf features that they "don't respect" such as the "show" option on document properties, you can't edit text from exported CAD drawings, form field recognition is the pits, the conversion of documents to PDF is slow as molasses, the browser plugin simply does not work, profile customizations such as "default output folder" are not respected, I could go on and on. Even worse, their customer support is AWFUL. Out of 7 tickets I've submitted in the past month since we've gone live, not one issue has been resolved.

Pros: I like that you can easily edit PDFs, with more options than Adobe. PDFs also print much better from this software than Adobe, and I'm not sure why.

Cons: They have the WORST customer support I've ever seen. Everyone working there seems friendly. It's getting to a real person that is hard. There are no phone numbers or online chat options. Submitting an email request is the only option, even if you have a time-sensitive problem.

Comments: More than any other software package, Bluebeam is by far the most valuable to me in my daily work. Thanks Bluebeam!

Pros: I have been using BB Revu PDF software since 2010, when I switched from Adobe Professional. Revu is designed for construction personnel. I use it for reviewing documents and drawings, marking up, sketching, quantity take off, illustrating, presentations, flowchart and Org Chart creations - just almost everything. I convert word documents to PDF for reviewing. I add bookmarks as way-finder through large documents such as Specifications, Reports and Specifications etc. For drawing reviews or study, I compile large packs of PDF drawings into single PDF with drawing numbers visible under Bookmarks. With Revu you can have 2 (or more)drawings opened on your screen, from within the combined pack or separate files, for comparing eg Elevations and Sections or plans or details. Sometimes I use the auto compare feature in comparing updated drawing with an older version where the differences will be highlighted. The Search feature is extremely useful and I use it a lot in finding references in Specifications Codes and Reports etc. The Spaces feature is really good and impresses hugely when included within presentations. Signature feature also excellent. I use the Add Ins for Outlook, Word, Excel and CAD regularly. I find the Help Section and Bluebeam University incredible. The Developers really put themselves in the place of the "normal" user and provide excellent vide demos of all the features.

Cons: File sizes generated in marking up and sketching tend to be quite large. There are ways to reduce the file size but they do not work all the time - sometimes they increase the size.I have tried a few times to engage design consultants in the use of the Studio feature for real-time online collaboration without success. This is however is not the fault of the Studio feature - its just that the designers did not have the software.

We use Bluebeam Revu throughout our office. It's a great tool in many aspects of our work.

Pros: What an easy product to use! Our IT guy installed the software, I received a 5 minute tutorial from my manager and I was off and running. I use Bluebeam on a daily basis to show devices on construction documents and keep track of counts and changes. The ability to update a background is fantastic! That allows us to immediately see what has changed in the PDF plans we receive and that keeps our work relevant and helps prevent problems on the job site.

Cons: Just yesterday we got a new PDF background for a construction project. The engineer had moved the background two inches. I couldn't find any way to move all of our drawing objects at once, so I had to move each symbol one at a time... there were about 50 symbols... it would have been nice to select them all and move them all together. If that functionality exists, it needs to be easier to find!

Pros: This software is phenomenal for any document management in construction. Bluebeam is the lifeblood of my everyday work. I use it daily to manipulate, markup, and compare documents. They also have training videos and a vast array of forum topics that people have posted online to any issue that you're having in the software.

Cons: Sometimes it can be a little too complex. There's so much that you can do in the software... it can be hard to find how to do what you want to do.

Overall: The value is unbeatable! If you wanted to, you could run an entire project directly out of Blubeam. The possibilities are endless using Bluebeam...

Comments: Bottom line, there is nothing this functional out there for working with .pdf files in this price range.

Pros: Options and functions for marking up drawings and schematics. Cloud storage options to share documents with colleagues and customers. If you're in contracting you need this software.

Cons: Functions are not easy to find. Overall it is not as simple or intuitive as I think it could be. It can be glitchy too at least with Windows 10, close and restart usually takes care of problems.

Pros: Bluebeam allows you to view PDF file plans and mark them up for takeoffs and anything else you may want to do. Much better than just Adobe or Nuance for looking at PDF plans.

Cons: Ease of the tools available to mark up plans is not super easy. Takeoff functions are a little difficult to use than a software that is completely dedicated to takeoffs.

Comments: I have not used the Studio version of the software or cloud hosting. I am interested in knowing if your software can be a proprietary used software for city, state, and county building permits in the future,

Pros: The software is relatively easy to use. It is has a fluid feel from one operating system to another.

Cons: Product training videos are nice to refer to. It would be good to see a quick use guide that overarches how to quickly get around in the software.

Pros: my favorite part of this software is when i open up blueprints with bluebeam, and i can make measurements with the measurement tool, and get precise area or perimeter measurements. this makes bids a lot quicker. i can also mark up documents with the push of a button.

Cons: the only thing that i don't like about theis software is that it takes a little while to learn it. i wouldnt say that it's 100% user friendly. it also has some limited capabilities.

Comments: Over all its great tool to use for any kind of estimation. Now a days most of the construction firms use it.

Pros: Almost all the useful functions are there to facilitate with estimation. It works smooth on any kind of detailed drawings. Very easy to store all the information in classified way. Most helpful software for big projects, it gives lots of options to filter the data.

Cons: Lots of functions, most of them not used all the time but still remained with screen. Little expensive as compare to other options but same way it is more helpful. Customer support takes little more time, but it response for sure.

Pros: I like the functiality of this software, in how it can completely take apart a scale construction drawing with confidence. Scaling of drawings is not always the preferred method, but is useful and nessesary in demanding situations. It's nice to be confident in the conclusions being made.

Cons: I dislike how this software does not "play nice" with the network at my workplace. The software cannot open documents with file paths exceeding 256 characters, unlike adobe. The software is better in most cases, but annoying in the fact that all PDFs from deep folder paths, must be copied to desktop.

Overall: This software eases my PDF reading abilitys and provides me with a button or hotkey for any action needed. It can even strip data out of a PDF, with erase content. Or it could add it back in!

Comments: The thing to watch out for is that the program you chose does everything you need it to do. I once had a PDF document program with no pan feature at all! And I didn't discover that until a few weeks after using it.

Pros: Easy to measure - lengths, area, radius, angles, etc. Easy to markup and customize those markups - as well as other users markups. Easy to track markups by the page.

Cons: So many things to learn and no time to sit down and play! Can't find a way to total markups across pages.

Pros: Absolutely intuitive program. You can get up and running with this with no training, assuming you have ever used any .pdf software prior. The menus are extremely rich, and generally intelligible to anyone who is computer "fluent" at the typical office "user" level. The depth of the menus is astounding, once you are past the basics, the abilities this program lets you access will change the way you do business. I like it because it makes someone without a CAD background (me) look like a professional, I was a huge Acrobat fan, the switch to BlueBeam was a corporate decision and I didn't think I'd ever get used to it. Took about two days, actually.

Overall: Every possible benefit, from personal communication to system wide corporate applications.

I started using Bluebeam 2 years ago and have know idea why I hadn't heard about it through school.

Pros: This PDF software is very intuitive, simple, and creative. It also has a great bank of support videos to help you learn how to use all of the features in the program.

Cons: For some reason when my files get more line in them the pdf tends to slow down a lot. If there were a magical way to fix this that would be amazing. Also I have found the batch functions to combine or separate PDFS or even batch link can be a little confusing and if there was some way of clarifying those steps in the program that would be helpful I think.

Comments: I think that Bluebeam is the best PDF manager/user tool created since the original Adobe.

Pros: It is easy, powerful, and allows you to be the master of all documentation. PDF to word conversion, drawings tools, measurement tools, scaled take-offs, etc. etc. Very powerful. The creation, modification, and use of the Stamps is another great tool for the contractor. We use Bluebeam to review, mark, and submit 100% of our shop drawings. We then have to digitally stamp each page and being able to change the date and comments in the stamp so quickly is awesome. It integrates well with PROCORE which is an excellent Management Software. The license is transferable between devices so that I can carry my SINGLE license from my work laptop to my home computer very easily by logging in on my license number.

Cons: Cost could be a factor...although I don't pay the bill at my company so I don't have the answer to the license requirements and costs.

Pros: I think bluebeam is also a game changer in the construction industry. It is great for takeoffs, organization, searching, converting scans into vectors and it is one of the most powerful software programs I have used.

Cons: The only problem I have is the tablet version is not as user friendly as plan grid and not as intuitive. I also think the hyperlink component needs some refinement. It is quite time consuming to hyperlink a pdf to a drawing and for this I end up paying the extra amount and doing it through plan grid.

Comments: The cost of Bluebeam Revu with its advance on-screen takeoff capabilities makes it really hard to purchase another program.

Pros: The on-screen takeoff is amazing. In a World of PDF plans, it only makes sense to have a PDF software that can handle advance quantity takeoffs and annotations. The utilization of this program has reduced my reliance on paper copies.

Cons: The program features are geared more towards vertical and site construction than heavy-civil, infrastructure and roadway.

This software has revolutionized how I do my job & how easily I can communicate with industry professionals in a more sophisticated manner. It has definitely elevated the appearance of my business.

Pros: Versatility to do just about anything with a PDF. My uses are the ability to Create / Edit / Improve Construction Drawings, Submittals, Take-Offs, Design, Shop Drawings, RFI's, Bid Forms, signature pages & much more

Cons: Would like more CAD / Tekla like capabilities. Since I make shop drawings & design drawings when applicable, I spend too much making an accurate layout. I would like an ability to panelize an entire area with typical spacings between panels. Also, an ability to capture the sizes of pieces in area to appear onto a BOM

Comments: Our estimating team switched to this from planswift and we've had more people get on board who were doing paper takeoff. While there were definitely some pains with transitioning once we got used to the new layout we came to appreciate some of the additional features Revu has to offer. I would say planswift is a bit quicker for doing small quick takeoffs, but when we do larger jobs and especially jobs with breakouts Bluebeam starts to pull ahead. The biggest timesaver (and reason we switched) is that Revu makes it much easier to hand-off from estimating to sales (due to the fact that it uses pdf/excel files and the fact that it has the spaces feature that allows sales to provide more detailed info/schedule products by room). In addition, it is much easier to use than Adobe Acrobat (or any dedicated takeoff software) for quickly making comments/marking up PDF's for customers. Also, have to commend them for making changes based on customer feedback that greatly improved the takeoff process.

Pros: Lots of different functions (construction takeoff/room scheduling, document mark-up/review, document creation) Customization for different users/tasks through profiles Excel export of markups/takeoff Cheaper than alternative takeoff software Easy to share with others (uses .pdf files) Ability to transition from takeoff to room schedule through spaces feature (big time saver for us as we do lots of air device takeoff) Easy to combine/compare revised drawings to old drawings/takeoff.

Cons: Takes a while to get up to speed on compared to other takeoff software (all the features can get overwhelming) Takeoff functions are not as polished/fast to use as some dedicated takeoff software (although the latest update fixed some of this) Certain PDF's can take long to load/render (rare problem, but very difficult to work around when it happens)

Pros: So easy to edit and manipulate documents. It is user friendly and has more options then you could ever need. It is also great at converting docs from word/excel to PDF and vice versa. They also offer Bluebeam Sessions. This is a great feature that allows you to work on one document with several different people in different locations in real time so everyone can make changes collaboratively and see them in real time.

Cons: It allows you to search most PDF documents for special words or characters. However, if the document was scanned in, it most likely will not be searchable which is frustrating.

Pros: The variety of tools for instances: markup options, writing comments, searching for words, measuring, photo attachments, studio-icloud usage and linking external accounts like sharefile or box.

Cons: It tends to overload when you have too many documents open. I've tried closing the app and reopening the app but the files do not open. The app tends to shutdown. Comments: I have been using Bluebeam as a primary drawing and detail generation tool for close to 7 years. As a Senior Estimator for a large general construction firm it has been invaluable not only as quantities and takes off tool but as a construction sequence documentation tool. Bluebeam uses are so varied and seemingly limitless, it just takes your imagination to think beyond simple "software". I would, and have, highly recommend Bluebeam not only for the construction industry but also for beyond.

Pros: Ease of use. Low comparative cost. Seemingly endless uses for both professional and personal use. Great user support.

Cons: Only con for me is integration to 3D but this may be more of a "user" issue. File sizes can become large especially when using the Photo tool.

Pros: I find that in Bluebeam Revu, there are a lot of useful tools. I have implemented Bluebeam vu on the shop floor at work. The workers are getting used to it. I have implemented Bluebeam Revu for the drawing coordination. Many tools are very useful. We are still learning.

Cons: I work in a french plant, you have close to no documentation in french. This could be very useful since we are a 5000+ employee business that wants to implement and the tutorial translation slows the process down a lot and takes away time for other stuff (the translator needs to take the tutorial, use the software, identify the needs for the french tutorial and make a new one).

Comments: A must have for any General Contractor.

Pros: Bluebeam Revu is an extremely versatile software with a wide range of uses that apply to all project stakeholders. At a basic level, the software is similar to your run of the mill PDF editor. Where it really shines is with its industry specific tools for mark-ups, as-builts, drawing management, quantity take-offs, document distribution and its ability to offer a simulated drawing revu session virtually and in real-time.

Cons: I was able to jump on Bluebeam Revu and use it at a pretty high level within a couple of days. I have, however, seen others struggle with it. They are always able to utilize a percentage of the software's functionality, but sometimes aren't able to progress to the software's higher level tools.

For example, to process one submittal, I had to combine the pages from one file with the submittal cover page, stamp it, add the date and signature of the person approving the submittal, flatten the markups so no one could edit them, and then save them on a network drive. With Revu I was able to click one icon and do all that from inserting the page, stamping/flattening, and prompting me to save on the network. It saved me so much time! I was able to create custom stamps for all our coordinators to use.

Pros: Suited for construction work, not just documents. It lets me do so much so easily. I can overlay drawings and find where things have changed. This works for contracts too. I can overlay the pages and see if the sub revised the document at all. I can easily markup drawings without any CAD experience needed. I can create forms from PDFs.

Cons: It takes a little while to learn the program because many icons are unfamiliar at first. And because it can do so much, there are so many icons. But I was able to customize my layout so it narrowed down my available icons to just the ones I use regularly. It's only a con for the first month of learning the program. Same for creating forms. As you start to work with it, you learn the tricks to making them easily, but at first it can be difficult. Most of the functions are similar to Adobe, but the one that I had to get used to was copying pages from one document to another. I used to open two separate Adobe windows and then click and drag pages from one into another. Revu only has one thumbnail view pane available at a time, so I had to modify my steps by copy and pasting pages from one document into another.

Comments: I have used Bluebeam review for the last 10 years instead of Adobe Acrobat, and been very satisfied.

Pros: Hyperlinking and bookmarking multipage construction drawings make for a very easy to navigate large set of documents. The takeoff tools are also very easy to use.

Cons: Sometimes the help link is not very helpful. Can't copy 'count' takeoffs to different sheets. Other quantity takeoff software have a better presentation option for listing the takeoffs on the document. Sometimes measurements spit out in inches when I want feet, and its not intuitive to change it.

Comments: Bluebeam Revu has been a wonderful product for our company. It allows us to easily look at construction drawings and make quick and accurate markups and takeoffs. It is very user friendly and have a lot of amazing features that make it sore over its competitors like adobe.

Pros: Easy to use Many options for markups and notes Ability to combine multiple trade drawings into one set

Cons: The set's ability is an amazing function but after being out for 5 years, it still hasn't made it to the iPad version yet Customer service takes a while to respond and doesn't fully assist with issues. It's almost like they blow off your issues. Overlays and comparisons still have the same bugs they had a couple years ago.

Comments: First time I used this product was about 4 years ago. I had never heard of it, but this blows Adobe PDF out of the water. I'm looking towards going to their conference in August to see what more I can learn.

Pros: Ease of use, the options I have to perform tasks, Revision capabilities. I've talked to their support team who was very responsive and helpful.

Cons: PDF printer sometimes crashes in collaboration with Word, but even with that, I still am in love with this product. No real cons for me.

Comments: I use Bluebeam Revu for roofing and wall panel takeoffs. The program is pretty intuitive so you can figure out a lot of what you want to do without having to look at help files. I'm a learn by doing kind of person, so this suits me well. There are also plenty of help files and videos on YouTube when you need to know more detailed information. I looked into replacing Bluebeam a few months ago, but, after looking at the cost/benefit of other programs, we decided to upgrade Bluebeam instead of replacing it.

Pros: Intuitive interface, responsive customer service, many help files/videos

Cons: Only uses 1 cpu core at a time (if it can utilize multiple cpu cores, I haven't found a way to do it)

Comments: I have been using Bluebeam for about 2 years now, and I love it! I feel like every time I use it, I find a cool new feature that makes my job easier. Our estimating department has recently been discovering how to use BB to make take-offs and bids easier and quicker. It is really a one-stop-shop program and most of our employees use BB daily.

Pros: Has the capability to work with plans, and can be used to take a set of plans from the pre-construction/pre-bid phase all the way to closeouts. Markups and take-offs are a breeze and save me tons of time on a daily basis.

Cons: I don't think I can think of many cons. The one thing I could love to see is a simplified online application (i.e. PDF viewer with simple markup tools) that integrates with online storage drives (GDrive, Box, Dropbox, etc). I know there's an iPad app, but our company runs on Android and I would love to see an app for use with regular tablets as well.

Recommendations to other buyers: This software has the capability to be used throughout the whole project on many different levels. Learn what it can do for you and try it out!

Comments: Every morning when I boot up my computer, Bluebeam is the first to open on my left screen monitor (work from 3 screens). This software is a must for anyone in construction. I have been a user for over seven years and my production rate gets better and better with the ease of use associated with this program. Thank you for make all my pre-construction task the best part of my day!

Pros: Snapshot - get it done and sent to all Team members in less than 1 second.

Cons: None that I can think of at this time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get a trail sample of this software and it will increase your production rate 10 fold.

Comments: I am the BIM / Drafting lead at a small company that does engineering consulting and install. Bluebeam has changed our workflow immensely.

I use the CAD Extreme version of the software daily. Using studio sessions allows our team to easily collaborate with one another and with external parties. The software has effectively put our large format plotter in retirement. The savings on paper, ink, and labor time handling paper prints is worth the price of the software alone, not to mention the streamlined productivity we experience.

The features are quite extensive; too numerous to talk about in a short review. The markup & measurement tools have helped to streamline submittal reviews, RFI's, and project coordination. The counting tools and custom icons help us with making quick counts for estimates and bids. The standard pdf editing tools are great as well.

Overall, this piece of software has single-highhandedly increased productivity more than any other application in our office.

Pros: Super easy to use and has tools for every type of user. From Basic to advanced, from field engineer to CAD Designer.

Cons: I can't honestly think of anything. It's great, easy to use and excellent value.

Overall: This is excellent software that gives you enormous bang for your buck. The Extreame version is by far the best and worth every penny. Its easy to use basic tools, as it has a similar interface with AutoCAD, but it also has some really good tools that are easy to learn with a little exploring. I work in many design and modeling software and this is just an extension of them. It also has plugins for many popular software. One of my favorite abilities is going from 3D revit to PDF and being able to view it. It makes communicating easier for field workers because they can rotate and view the model in 3D without me being right there. Great product!

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it out for about 10 minutes and watch a youtube video or two and you will be well versed in the abilities of Bluebeam, but you can always learn more tools that make workflow 10x more efficient and easy.

Comments: I'm speaking of Revu primarily from a project engineer perspective, working with multi-discipline teams located across the country. Anytime we used to receive a submittal or RFI that requires multi-discipline coordination, you could guarantee that it would be weeks before it was returned. The typical workflow was that only one person had the file at a time, a check-out/check-in kind of system. It would work its way down the chain until all disciplines had a chance to review. For example, an elevator submittal would have to go through Arch to ensure finishes/layout, structural to approve supports and angles, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection for power, machinery, equipment, and sprinklers. By the time each person had a moment to review the submittal, a month could have easily gone by.

Then came Bluebeam Revu. All of a sudden I had the ability to create these studio sessions...what a godsend. In an industry where lead times are everything, getting submittal/RFIs back quickly is of paramount importance. So we created accounts for all of our team members and now anytime I receive a submittal that requires multi-discipline coordination, I create a Bluebeam Session with the file uploaded to it. I add all the team members that need to review it to the session and sit back and watch the show. We typically schedule a 1-hour review block where all team members hop onto the session and a conference call and we all review the file CONCURRENTLY. The beauty of Bluebeam software is all the included tools for markups and dimensioning which come absolutely FREE in the "reader" version Bluebeam Vu. So while I pay for my Revu license, all my team members get to access the studio session from a reader they can install for free on their personal computers at home.
All markups are tracked by Bluebeam and an ID is attached to each markup so that I can identify who wrote what. It's amazing software. What used to take weeks of being stuck in the pipeline, now gets turned around in a day or two.
In addition to sessions, I also take advantage of creating sets for my design team and keep track of all revisions using Bluebeam Revu's smart tagging and revision tracking. Add to that Bluebeam's integration with software like ProjectWise, Outlook, and all Autodesk software, and you've got a serious workhorse on your hands.
Revu is more than a simple PDF editor, it is an invaluable tool in the design-construction world. It
