The dashboards are set up similar to acad and I can draw pretty well. The editing features are also top notch. Cons It is a bit pricey for a PDF editor. You can get adobe versions much cheaper and while it maybe less functional, the adobe programs do work ok. I was the go-to for creating Bluebeam exhibits & markups/quantity takeoffs. When people ask me what programs they need to run a construction business, Bluebeam is easily top 3. Pros Bluebeam is the best PDF editor/markup/exhibit creation tool I have ever used. I use it daily and I could not do my job without it. Cons I can't think of any right now. Pros What i like the most about bluebeam revu is the ease of use for marking up pdf drawings and compiling comments. It is extremely smart tool for PDF editing with real time collaboration. It is tailor made for professional work rather than a personal one. Pros Most Liked: The sheer ability to edit PDF files. This is our go to PDF editing tool in the company. It is strictly professional where we can collaborate in real time. Cons Its slightly overpriced for a beginner or even a small company. The solution was painfully slow. Pros The product is fantastic for drawing, markup and collaboration. PDF documents are a breeze to navigate. Overall the product itself is great. Cons For no reason, I was notified that my subscription had expired (6 months before it was supposed to). I was off line, unable to use my product and I was shuttled from one person to another that was 'looking into it' for over a week while my workflow was basically shut down. Review Source Joshua Y. To my knowledge, no other PDF software is geared towards the A+E market. I wish there was another one out there so that these guys didn't have a monopoly on the market. It has given them a sense of invincibility that has led to stagnation and a lack of genuine support for their customers. Cons I've been using Revu for about 8 years, 5 of those on Windows. The last 3 are at my most recent job, and when I found out that Bluebeam had created a Revu for Mac, I was quick to push our company to adopt. I even gave a lunchtime presentation to show everyone some of the really powerful features I had come to know and love from the windows side. Playing with the trial version of 1.0, though, I quickly realized that a ton of features were absent from the windows version. I went ahead and gave the presentation anyway, though and with some convincing, we bought seats for everyone. It became clear within the first week of using the software, though, that it was incredibly slow. So slow as to be unusable. It took several seconds to render every page... considering that we regularly deal with 100+ page architectural sets, this made the program worthless in a lot of cases. What's more we really felt the lack of some features from the windows side, many of which were so basic that it's laughable that Bluebeam decided not to invest in them. You can't crop pdfs for instance. Anyway, when bluebeam for mac 2.0 came out, we bought in thinking that we'd be getting all of the features that we were missing along with performance improvements. Turns out they decided to revamp the UI with almost 0 feature inclusions. The performance of page rendering was significantly improved, which was helpful, although page thumbnails now no longer load. Project Coordinator Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Bluebeam is the best for construction drawings" August 18, 2025 4.0 Pros I use Bluebeam the most for reviewing and marking up construction drawings. The tools that Bluebeam offers make it very easy to import specific stamps that you use often, cloud/highlight certain areas of a document and even move pages around. I also really love the comparing tool where you can lay multiple page on top of each other to see where they differ without having to figure it out on your own side-by-side. Cons Occasionaly Bluebeam with glitch and not maximize from the start bar, even though I know the app is open and I have documents open within it. This generally has to do with disconnecting from my docking station, and hasn't ever effected documents saving correctly - but is annoying none-the-less to disconnect my computer, walk into a meeting, then not be able to open for presentation. Working on large construction drawings and being able to collaborate on multiple PDF files has improved our workflows immensely. Pros This product integrated with our CAD tools perfectly. Having a PDF editor working inside AutoCAD is a game changer. Cons This product has a bit of a learning curve to understand all the features and sometimes struggles with large files. Pros It seems to work with any type of PDF I've thrown at it, with no hanging up, no failure to display objects, no matter how weird or obscure they might be. Cons While this is meant to be a viewer rather than an editing tool, competitors do offer slightly more editing functions in their basic entries. I absolutely love all the extra things that I can do in bluebeam that I cannot in adobe. Being able to use this software for more than just a PDF and for estimating projects has made life way easier and help make sure we are not missing items on the estimates. Pros Bluebeam has an amazing customizable tool box which I find the most helpful! There are certain tools I will use over and over again and having this quick popup with all my tools to grab and use saves me so much time. Also, adding pages into a current document is as easy as just dropping into the place where you want it. If you are using bluebeam more for just PDF purposes, this software will do so much more than adobe and give me cleaner documents. I use it alot to make submittals and I need to markup and add/ move pages alot and this makes it the easiest and fastest way for me to do so. I can remove items off the pages and add notes when needed. I can go on about the list of amazing features this offers, like counting how many outlets I need on the plan, or resizing and signing it. Your options here are endless. Cons The biggest downside to bluebeam is that it takes time to learn and isn't very user friendly for the average person. Figuring out what each tool does takes some time, and sometimes there are a few you can use for the same thing. Since bluebeam has so many features it can be hard to narrow down or even locate the one you are needing. This is why that custom tool box is so handy. Review Source Nick D. The ability to annotate drawings helps our field staff to complete their specific scope of work in the correct location, avoiding rework. Pros You're able to create custom tools for quantity take offs to record different project requirements quickly and accurately. We use this software for construction estimating and rely on it every day. Cons Moving your mouse too quickly when completing a quantity take off can cause the take off to be cancelled and you need to start again. I am working in it multiple times throughout the day. I know I'm not using it to it's full potential. Pros I love the number of features Bluebeam revu offers. I keep finding new ways to use the software and increase my productivity. The software is well laid out and customizable to my needs and work flows. Bluebeam provides lots of video tutorials to help people get acquainted with the software Cons There are a few glitches here and there. Every once in a while I get a PDF that I have to open in Adobe reader because it does not load properly in Bluebeam. Printing to our plotter also goes better through Adobe for some reason. Pros Pros: I loved the digital estimating tools that fed back to the general, \[sensitive content hidden\], and architects. They were able to see any gaps in designs and see where projects might be easier to VE. Cons CONS: 1) Too many tools at your fingertips makes for alot to learn, but not everything is needed. 2) If GC is using program, the document management on large projects can become very overwhelming if not organized extremely well. To import plans was so easy and other softwares this is not the case. Many other software would take 2-4 additional steps just to import blueprints. Where as Bluebeam is basically one step. The software runs rather fast with hardly resizing delays , I have used similar softwares after acquiring Bluebeam and on the same computer I experienced resizing delays on the similar software, where Bluebeam had no issues. Pros The most important part of this software was the complete ease of use. With no experience with estimating software, I was able to jump right in and get to work without any training, videos or someone else to teach me the basics. The original layout and key icons made everything simple but necessary. Cons The first major issue I incurred was learning how to compile all of the data at the finish of gathering the take off( sq ft measurements) this portion of the software was slightly less user friendly when it came to compiling the lists of rooms/areas with the details .eventually after some months of use I began to become familiar with the steps of the software sorting the sq feet and labeling the areas Reason for choosing Bluebeam Revu We chose Bluebeam was the cost of it. At the time we compared this software with Callidus and realized the more bang for the buck was Bluebeam. Once purchased we had excitement due to such ease of learning and within 1-2 days had the majority of the software learned. I would recommend this to anyone looking to take off digital prints.
