### "Must have software for engineering companies"

October 12, 2020

5.0

We use Bluebeam on a daily basis for the organization of drawing sets and reports. Bluebeam makes it possible to collaborate on project review with local and remote personnel. Bluebeam makes it possible to help reduce paper waste and to maintain project records for quality controls.

Pros

The robust features of Bluebeam make this essential software for engineering companies. Mark up and organize drawings, compare versions of documents, OCR capabilities, and online collaboration are just some of the many features.

Cons

Sometimes the icons are not as intuitive to me as they should be. Would be nice if Bluebeam would incorporate the Ribbon format that many other programs use.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Bluebeam Revu

Bluebeam is available at a better price point and provides superior capabilities to Adobe PDF markup products.

### "Bluebeam Revu is a fantastic product for viewing, editing and extracting information from PDF files"

July 26, 2018

5.0

There are too many efficiency gains to list, but the main ones are automation of repetitive tasks, ability to add an "intelligence" layer (almost like a spreadsheet) to PDFs, the ability to collaborate in real time and make edits to existing pdfs. In the Architecture Engineering and Construction world, this product is king.

Pros

The toolbox is underrated, but it completely sets Revu apart from any other pdf viewer/editors available. It is easy to use, easy to distribute, reliable. Editing is also great for minor edits as well as spotting spelling mistakes. Extracting information from sheets is a breeze as well as the OCR feature if you have the Extreme version. Studio sessions which are also underutilized are a real game changer for real time collaboration.

Cons

The latest release saw some radical changes away from a ribbon-type interface into something more traditional. I have found many tools harder to find and am not convinced of any productivity gains as a result of the interface change.

### "Bluebeam Revu - Construction"

February 5, 2022

5.0

Pros

We use the program constantly. It has fully replaced all other PDF viewers in our office because it is so much more functional. We use Bluebeam Studio to collaborate when redlining drawing set, we use Bluebeam to mark up plans while on the job site and coordinating with the contractor, we use Bluebeam to quickly illustrate programming ideas for our clients, etc. It has so many great features and has been incredibly useful for our firm.

Cons

I think that the drawing tool could use some expanded capability. I also don't think it is particularly intuitive, so people don't use it to its full potential.

### "Most vital piece of software we use at our company"

November 3, 2022

5.0

The best investment we have made with a piece of software by far.

Pros

Bluebeam is easy to use and has a vast amount of tools available for handling anything you want to do with a document.

Cons

The program can be slow on a tablet away from the office.

### "Excellent PDF mark-up software with time-saving features and intuitive UI. Easy to use and learn."

July 24, 2018

5.0

Pros

There are several features that make this software very useful in engineering and project management. When marking-up PDF drawings or diagrams, the ability scale dimensions and measurements within the software is valuable. Many of the features included with the software are familiar to other software commonly used in the industry, and required no special training to use. I jumped right into using Bluebeam without any training or research, the user interface is that intuitive. Combining, converting, extracting, e-signing, and marking up PDF files has become a simple task which saves a tremendous amount of time. The feature to "lock" or "unlock" amendments to documents with the "flatten" feature is a nice touch.

Cons

Sometimes when converting MS Word docs to PDF using Bluebeam creates anomalies or unwanted formatting changes in the converted/output PDF file. This can be irksome for large documents, as QC of hundreds of pages to ensure document was converted to PDF accurately is sometimes necessary. Usually this only occurs with MS Word docs that use MS features that are not commonly used in document formatting or content. Regardless, peace of mind and confidence in formatting conversion would be nice to have, though this issue is also common to other similar software suites.

### "Very Good Functionality and Good Overall Performance for the Money"

June 8, 2017

4.0

Our estimating team switched to this from planswift and we've had more people get on board who were doing paper takeoff. While there were definitely some pains with transitioning once we got used to the new layout we came to appreciate some of the additional features Revu has to offer. I would say planswift is a bit quicker for doing small quick takeoffs, but when we do larger jobs and especially jobs with breakouts Bluebeam starts to pull ahead. The biggest timesaver (and reason we switched) is that Revu makes it much easier to hand-off from estimating to sales (due to the fact that it uses pdf/excel files and the fact that it has the spaces feature that allows sales to provide more detailed info/schedule products by room). In addition, it is much easier to use than Adobe Acrobat (or any dedicated takeoff software) for quickly making comments/marking up PDF's for customers. Also, have to commend them for making changes based on customer feedback that greatly improved the takeoff process.

Pros

Lots of different functions (construction takeoff/room scheduling, document mark-up/review, document creation) Customization for different users/tasks through profiles Excel export of markups/takeoff Cheaper than alternative takeoff software Easy to share with others (uses .pdf files) Ability to transition from takeoff to room schedule through spaces feature (big time saver for us as we do lots of air device takeoff) Easy to combine/compare revised drawings to old drawings/takeoff.

Cons

Takes a while to get up to speed on compared to other takeoff software (all the features can get overwhelming) Takeoff functions are not as polished/fast to use as some dedicated takeoff software (although the latest update fixed some of this) Certain PDF's can take long to load/render (rare problem, but very difficult to work around when it happens)

### "Surprisingly easy to use for such a feature packed bit of code."

May 1, 2021

5.0

Overall experience is great. Plenty of built in functionality, and the ability to customize your work space makes it easy to use.

Pros

Ease of use. Not only easy to use, there is plenty of online help available. It's quite intuitive when using it so I don't have to "think" to much about how to do it as it works the way I'm "think it should" - or to put it another way - it's where I would have put that feature if I was the software developer.

Cons

It can be a little overwhelming at first. There are so many buttons it's hard to know what to use.

### "Bluebeam Rocks"

April 23, 2021

5.0

Bluebeam Revu is a great program for the AEC industry. Has the related callouts and tags when conducting a field survey on a site visit. Easy to use and has a lot more features than Acrobat.

Pros

The program has a lot of great tools related to architecture to help with noting markups quickly and adding text and callouts. Easy to use and definitely overtakes Acrobat in my workflow.

Cons

No cons at all. All the updates and product features that they provide, help to improve the program.

### "Bluebeam's Multi-use Capability"

November 5, 2018

4.0

Bluebeam is helping us expedite the submittal process and helping us solve problems by allowing us to review multiple drawings simultaneously. This is a program that you take for granted because if one day, we no longer had it, we would be lost for awhile. I highly recommend this product.

Pros

Bluebeam is used daily at my project site and without it, life would be much more difficult. We use it for marking up drawings, submittals, reviewing contracts and determining rough dimensions (Snapping dimensions makes it very easy) for our project. We have templates, stamps, and other features stored on the application that saves time. This program makes it easy to combine files/PDF's and to organize.

Cons

I think that the search option could be refined. Although I cannot provide helpful information on how to accomplish this, I just feel that it could be modified to make things easier. This could also just be me.

### "PDF Annotation Powerhouse"

October 5, 2022

5.0

Bluebeam is my go-to software for both internal document markup, and external document storage and collaboration. It is the most effective annotation tool for computer-savvy architectural professionals and has simplified drawing compilation and collaboration.

Pros

The extensive markup tools bring traditional architectural document annotation into the 21st century, allowing quick, intuitive, and professional looking markups to be quickly documented and shared with team members.

Cons

Bluebeam can be unnecessarily clunky and demanding on hardware at times, and occasional bugs/glitches can make tools like "Reduce PDF File Size" have unpredictable results.

### "Easy pdf editing and take off's"

June 24, 2022

Bluebeam Revu is my to go app for pdf viewing, editing and take offs.

Pros

Bluebeam Revu gives you more level of control over pdf's than you can imagine. The number of tools and features are extensive. Take offs and commenting is the least you can expect from Bluebeam.

Cons

Although Bluebeam Revu has a very good take off facility, the labelling could have been better.

### "Bluebeam - a complete pdf pack"

February 11, 2021

5.0

If tour are typical and Adobe or Foxit user, just try the Bluebeam revu. It owns some unique pdf features you will definitely to love.

Pros

There are so many PDf readers and editors available on the market with restricted features, and Bluebeam covers almost each and every feature. Its user friendly for editing ad commenting on PDF & almost can get accurate values for measuring the distances. Text recognizing mechanism (OCR) almost accurate for every scenario. The inbuilt converter helps us to convert our PDFs to other formats hassle-free.

Cons

I really dont have any cons regarding Bluebeam revu. It's a fantastic and complete tool for all your pdf needs. It's worth the money.

### "Construction PDF Edit, collaboration, viewing software"

October 26, 2020

5.0

if you are in construction industry this software is a MUST for viewing and editing 2D plans.

Pros

Comes with free viewing software, however the Paid Revu software is extremely powerful. for editing its capabilities are almost unlimited. comes with free collaboration tools, a huge online server for hosing files and sharing with your team. you can even do punchlist start to finish.

Cons

I feel the OCR function should come with the Revu software not have to pay extra for Extreme version. also the customer support is lacking. ive had bugs and small quarks that have crippled my teams production and customer support was not helpful. for field use this is not as seamless as Plangrid. the applications are an after thought and a littly clunky.

### "Review of Bluebeam Revu"

May 20, 2024

5.0

Pros

What I like most about Bluebeam Revu is its in depth capability for project review. Software complements well for horizontal construction plans with options for markups and collaboration. Also, allows for PDF conversion for drawings.

Cons

Least likeable feature is the limited technical support and customer support if there is a software issue. It may take some time to resolve the issue before it is up and running again. Also, opening / printing files may take some time.

### "Love Bluebeam! It should be the PDF standard!"

August 2, 2018

5.0

Pros

I was first introduced to Bluebeam through my place of employment. I was amazed, right from the start, at how powerful it was and how many features it had that I never knew I needed! After seeing it I could not believe how lame Adobe Acrobat seemed in comparison. The overlay comparison feature is one of the most used features here at work. I manipulate documents within it continuously. The OCR is very powerful. And text manipulation is nothing short of amazing! Great piece of software! I recommend it to everyone that can afford it! Luckily, I can use my corporate computer for personal use, otherwise I'd have to pay full price for it.

Cons

The cost is rather prohibitive for normal users. But the features are plenty and well developed.

### "PDF tool for engineers and architects"

June 28, 2022

5.0

Amazing tool, worth 100% the money that it costs. Should not be your only PDF solution but a complement, and is way more useful is you are an engineer, architect, or artist.

Pros

This is the very first PDF tool that can allow you to handle a PDF drawing like what it is, a drawing, and take measures, do precise annotations, and even calculations, right on the PDF

Cons

it is not intuitive to use, and the help is not great. Learning curve is steep

### "Streamlining Construction Projects with Bluebeam"

April 19, 2023

5.0

Pros

Bluebeam is an exceptional software solution that offers a wide range of benefits for construction professionals and project managers. One of its most notable features is the ability to perform takeoffs from PDF files, which can be a time-consuming and labor-intensive task when done manually. Bluebeam makes it easy to perform takeoffs from PDF files, allowing users to accurately calculate the quantities of materials required for a project. This can help to reduce errors and ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.

Cons

Some users have reported performance issues with Bluebeam, such as slow processing times or crashes. While these issues are not common, they can be frustrating when they do occur.

### "Bluebeam Revu "

November 3, 2023

4.0

I was a little hesitant at first when my company switched from Adobe to Bluebeam, but now that I have gotten use to the program I would never want to go back to Adobe.

Pros

It's easy to mark up PDF files. In the construction industry, we make markups on blueprints and submittals. It's also easy for material take-offs with the measuring tools.

Cons

I still haven't been satisfied with all the toolbars and their locations. I have a tool bar on the top, side and bottom and I haven't figured out how to make it so I can just show the tools that I use the most.

### "Bluebeam is a great work in progress!"

July 18, 2019

4.0

Overall, I couldn't do my job without it. I use a similar industry standard software for photo processing and I'd put this one on that Expert level. The functions are awesome like, creating a scale in a document, setting measurements, marking up documents, saving custom markups for later, and configuring the software as you like. I look forward to using the latest and greatest version.

Pros

The capabilities of the software seem endless. I'm very impressed with what we can easily accomplish using the software. The tool new tool bar took some getting used to, but is totally user friendly and a great resource.

Cons

It's a ram hog! It takes a lot of processing power to accomplish simple task like printing and saving. Serious file compression doesn't seem to exist yet, and it crashes doing menial task.

### "Bluebeam Revu review"

May 15, 2021

5.0

As a quantity surveyor’s point of view, this is a quite easy software rather than AutoCAD. The reason is this software accepts pdfs not dwg formats so we no need to ask our clients about heavy files.

Pros

I enjoy this software as a Quantity Surveyor this is a bit moderated Architectural software than basically used software like AutoCAD. I like because it is very smart to take-off quantities because we do not need to prepare excel sheets & mark-ups the software automatically creates nicely it saves our time so we can increase our productivity.

Cons

In this software, we use pdfs so first we need to clarify our drawing is scaled if not we have to collaborate it and set up. When we calculating cubic meter or 3dimension measurement (i.e., Length x width x Height/Depth) we have to be careful the dimensions goes to the right place in the displayed table below. Otherwise, our calculations or the measurement goes wrong.
