November 24, 2023

Pros

I like how bluebeam make the takeoffs so much easier especially the count tool combined with the search tool that will make our estimate easier to price up.

Cons

I think the length tool should be more subject to edit so i can personalized the feature or the looks

### "Great Software But Needs To Be Available To Mac Users Again"

January 19, 2024

5.0

Very good, just disappointed it's no longer available on mac. It was by far the best for everything we do as a company and now we can't use it.

Pros

The take off function and ability to add comments was extremely useful

Cons

The licensing expired on Mac, so new employees are unable to use the software which is a huge issue as we had three members of the commercial department using Bluebeam and we had to change when another three employees joined the team as we can't collaborate unless all on same software.

Reason for choosing Bluebeam Revu

The simplicity of take of function, the ability to comment on the PDFs and the export to excel file function.

### "The best PDF markup tool for the A&E industry"

April 12, 2019

4.0

It makes checking drawings and communicating changes a lot easier. The markup tools are much better than any other similar software I've tried.

Pros

I'm constantly amazed by how many features bluebeam has packed in. The markup tools themselves have a lot flexibility. Being able to scale drawings and generate dimensions and areas is a huge plus. Creating new elements and adding them to your tool chest for future use is also a nice feature to have. The OCR tools are fantastic helping us create bookmarks and labels to navigate large PDFs. We also routinely use the hyperlink tool to create linkable details that make navigating a large drawing set even easier. (I believe this feature is available only in the "Extreme" version). There is also an option to take two versions of a document and compare changes between two versions. Beyond that being able to use blue beam sessions to collaborate with your project team on common markups is a great bonus.

Cons

I would really like the software to have the ability to create preset profiles that automatically set defaults for markup styles and colors.

### "Bluebeam Revu is my right hand in my profession."

July 19, 2019

5.0

Overall I prefer bluebeam over the all other similar software. And I recommend this one for you all my friends, which will make your life easier. As a daily user of this software I am excited to have new updates of it.

Pros

I am using bluebeam revu for last 1 year. As a civil engineer, I feel grateful to have this software which easier many of my works. From my experience I feel bluebeam is the best option to handle PDF files. Handling shop drawing is much easier while using this software. We can do any makeup, changes & comments and can do measurements as well (linear, area etc.) here. And we can remove anything if we don't want in the documents. Here it is easy to combine two or more documents. It helps to convert PDF files into other format of documents like word, excel, power point, image etc.

Cons

From my experience, I haven't feel much bad about this software. Even though its user interface is customer friendly, it take certain period to get familiar with bluebeam. Still I find new things in the software while using.

### "Bluebeam Revu is the best product on the market"

June 10, 2021

5.0

Its more than a PDF viewer or an annotation tool. I can do takeoff any project efficiently for estimates with all the assorted program tools. It is the best platform for Constructability Reviews through studio sessions that allows all team players to collaborate with each other to avoid conflict between each engineering discipline.

Pros

It's the best software that allows simplicity for any type of project involving engineering drawings, estimating or constructability reviews whether going solo or as a team in Studio Sessions.

Cons

I have been using Bluebeam for over 15 years and had never an issue that couldn't be resolved. The support personnel can make magic happen within seconds to solve any problem.

Reason for choosing Bluebeam Revu

AutoCAD is way to expensive and very complicated, whereas Bluebeam Revu is totally affordable and easy to master.

### "Bluebeam Revu is the go to PDF Viewer for Construction "

December 3, 2019

5.0

Bluebeam is installed in over 20 computers within our company. We use it daily and enjoy everything about it. The ease of Take-offs, legends, quantities, along with the ability to customize is the reason we all have it downloaded.

Pros

The most useful aspect of Bluebeam Revu is the amount of functions and labeling the program has for takeoffs, blueprint viewing, and creating legends. It's the must have tool for anyone in the construction estimating industry.

Cons

It's really hard to say anything negative about Bluebeam. However, there are a lot of functions which could lead to long learning times. Someone who is not familiar with the tool will have to invest quite some time to become proficient in the application.

### "PDF Viewer For Engineering"

April 5, 2019

4.0

Overall my experience has been very good. This software basically adds a lot of technical components for PDFs. For example, if you want to sign off on documents, or stamp them with approvals, you can do that easily through Bluebeam.

Pros

The number of functions and versatility of Bluebeam is very good. For my engineering job, Bluebeam is a godsend to be able to mark up documents, sign drawings, flatten documents, import/export other files, etc, etc, etc. I used to use Adobe, but functionality-wise, it is no comparison. If you are going to be working with a lot of PDF's and need technical functions, I think Bluebeam is the way to go.

Cons

I just switched to Bluebeam 2018 from 2016 and there seems to be some bugs. It crashed on me today which it never crashed on me in 2016. I'm hoping an updated can get 2018 working as smoothly as 2016. Besides that, the only thing that I didn't like is that just like with other complex softwares, there are so many functions that it is easy for one to feel overwhelmed by the software. There is a learning curve but after repeated use you can't go back.

### "Great replacement for Adobe that allows the user greater control over the image"

November 9, 2017

5.0

I work with blueprints daily. This makes my job so much smoother. I can link in an engineer or architect and we can discuss issues right on the spot and share notes. If at some point down the road something changes, we can look up the old notes we put on the drawings. By far the best PDF viewer I have ever had the chance to use.

Pros

This is the number one tool for people in the construction industry to have. Having the ability to work on the same PDF with multiple people at the same time is a game changer. No more having to drive an hour for a 15 minute meeting. You can also scale the plans so that you can pull dimensions. It's AutoCad integration is super helpful. I don't have to redraw a whole sheet of detail or trace an imported jpeg anymore. This has saved me days upon days of work on projects.

Cons

The software isn't foolproof and has some glitches. I've had it boot people off of a shared pdf and not export the whole pdf. It's not translated notes properly when I try to send the drawing out. All of these things are minor glitches that happen every now and then.

### "Bluebeam Revu"

December 14, 2022

5.0

I enjoy using the software, I like how customizable it is. There are a few features I hope the add, but overall is is my favorite take off software I have used.

Pros

I like the ease of use. I find the software easy to use and like that I can write my own formulas for calculations based off different scopes of work and they can be edited per job. It is currenly my most used take off software

Cons

I do not like that there isnt a setting for taking off foundation rebar, but we were able to write a formula/column into the program and it works well for what we need.

### "Great functionality!"

October 6, 2020

5.0

Overall, I love using Bluebeam Revu, and especially the Studio function, because I was able to keep the 2016 version. If I was forced to update I would be less satisfied.

Pros

Bluebeam Revu has a ton more functionality than Adobe or other similar PDF viewers, and the construction-specific features like dimensioning, slip sheeting, etc. make it way more useful than most products on the market.

Cons

The UI on the latest version of Bluebeam Revu is atrocious. Opening a file from Studio closes the navigation panel, and multiple sheets open in split screen or as minimized windows rather than as tabs like in older versions. Also, the organization of tools is not as intuitive as in older versions.

### "Bluebeam - Legacy User"

December 20, 2018

4.0

This software is pretty great for us. It costs a lot which is the reason we hold on to the legacy versions. We use PDF escape free version for simple PDF needs like signing and combining. We also use adobe free for the fill and sign.

Pros

This offer a lot of functionality when it comes to editing PDFs. Customer service is great when I need to free up licenses because we have versions going back to 8, 19 and 2016. We use it for editing text on our PDFs or cropping them for 4x6 shipping labels.

Cons

I am unable to free up legacy licenses without going through customer service. There is a portal for 2018 versions but anything 2016 below requires you to email or call in to free them up.

### "The best PDF program for construction"

August 28, 2018

5.0

With the use of Bluebeam our BIM department can transfer files and mark ups faster back and forth to the field with out having to wait for email. We have mostly eliminated the need to print full size drawings for install. The field guys take the PDF's and put them on the app for the tablets. Making it more convinent.

Pros

I really enjoy the measurement tools that are in the program. This allows me to easily help our field with take off for pipe and fittings. Also the ability to use the Bluebeam Studio giving my guy easy access to all files with out needing a different program to access.

Cons

The user interface with the new update at first was a little cumbersome but in time you get used to it.

### "PDF Generation & Manipulation"

August 20, 2020

5.0

The ease of use, moderate learning curve, and ease of roll out in a non-enterprise environment is outstanding. the additional tools available standard with the package will allow you to do amazing things so much simpler than with the business standard tool which is Adobe Acrobat Pro. Adobe would have never made it in the market if BB came out first in the market.

Pros

At a minimum, the ability to view/read PDF's is a standard in today's business world, however, if you have to generate, manipulate, add notations/text/notes, search docs, use drawing tools, do simple take-off's, etc. with PDF's, you will find BlueBeam (BB) and its suite of tools a refreshing change and pleasure to work with. This is truly the work horse of the PDF market with a much lower price tag than Adobe. Switch, get past the learning curve, and you will be very pleasantly surprised. You will never turn back to another PDF software.

Cons

inability to maintain current versions without constant repurchasing of licenses. No versions for IOS Mac Books. Stop supporting Mac versions. I think this is a critical error that alienates a decent market share from BB.

### "Bluebeam blows Adobe Acrobat out of the water."

January 16, 2018

5.0

This is the best PDF viewing, editing & markup software I've come across. It's affordable & easy to use. I can't suggest Bluebeam enough.

Pros

I like all of the markup tools. I like how easy it is to draw & design. I love it's batch hyperlinking, batch editing tools. I really like it's review & comparison capabilities. It's great how easy it is to combine files & add or remove pages. The OCR & redaction capabilities are fantastic.

Cons

Sometimes, when you're trying to change the style or color of only part of the text in your text box, it changes the entire box or if you move it it removes the style and/or color change. That's the only bug I've found.

### "Great tool for architects!"

January 26, 2019

5.0

Bluebeam Revu has been a software we us daily at our firm. We do all of our shop drawings digitally and Bluebeam helps with that allowing us to have custom stamps and good work flow. Overall we have been very happy with this software and will most likely continue to use it.

Pros

Ease of use and tools available to review drawings and make markups fast.

Cons

The new pricing for updates, until recently Bluebeam was reasonable cost and we had no problems just upgrading every year. But last year they changed the pricing structure and we elected to no upgrade. We still like the product and use it everyday. We will wait a few years and decide if we need to upgrade or not.

### "Excellent Product for PDF's"

October 21, 2020

Overall the product is great. Makes it easy to make changes to PDF's and combined various PDF's into one document.

Pros

Product makes it easy to make changes to existing PDF's as well as combine PDF's together to create one document from multiple PDF's.

Cons

I find that the software takes a long time to load onto my machine whenever I go to open it for the first time each day. Once it has been opened once however, it works well for the rest of the day.

### "Long Time Bluebeam Revu User - Best Day to Day Software I use"

September 11, 2018

5.0

Like I said, I could not function on a daily basis without the use of Bluebeam. I have been a daily user for just about 3 years now and I couldn't say enough good things about this software solution and I know it isn't just the Construction Industry that utilizes this software. Anyone can!! Highly Recommend!!

Pros

Bluebeam is not only a construction industry standard now, it is a necessity!! I use this software on a daily basis and could not function without it. Some people look at it as a replacement for Adobe Acrobat as just a simple PDF viewer but it is so much more than that. I use it to dimension drawings with it's calibration tool, you can extract specific pages from large document packages mark them up and send them out, their OCR feature is something that I know our Project Engineers and Project Managers use all the time as well and that is just a start of what it can do. Highly recommend!! Worth every penny!!

Cons

The cons is simply that there is a learning curve to know how to utilize all of the features it offers. I still learn something new everyday and I have been using it for 2-3 years now. They have great training videos on the website that walk you through Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced features that I would highly recommend.

### "Bluebeam Revu"

August 7, 2019

5.0

Pros

Making all the editions and pier reviews is so hard in word documents. All the users are so preferring the pdf versions for their review as it is easy to use. And making comments on pdf is an advantage for all the users. This software is providing that facility. Most importantly, the feature i admired is making comments and edits and locked those edits which prevents from future changes mistakenly. It also allows to copy and paste the locked features to the next pages again as a locked features. This really helps in all my works.

Cons

The main drawback here is one we saved the changes made on the pdf, we cannot get back the steps we have gone through. I have felt this throughout my works with the software. Other than that, once we draw the cloud on the pdf as a rectangle figure, we cannot stretched again as a rectangle. It distorted the cloud into some other shapes. This problem only exists for clouds.
