I am stated my career as progress 4gl developer, now its called progress OpenEdge. It is mostly used by all legacy transaction processing system mostly banking and finance domain. All old banks (like JP Morgan, Wells Fargo) and financial institution are using.

Pros

We can develop standalone desktop application as well as web based application. It supports 4gl programming language and relational database. Code written in progress openedge can be run both windows and unix server.

Cons

We will not find lot of example of ready to use module like we have in java or in (dot)net.

### "Blindsides businesses with overnight fee hikes!"

DO a quick search and you will discover my business was not the only one damaged by this group. Their infrastructure is built on deceptive business practices.

Pros

The contract between us clearly stipulated that Oasis Chiropractic Wellness would average 2.65% fees out of Oasis’s processing each month. As of 3/25/2025 our Oasis’s account was overcharged by 3739.52. This fraudulent activity continued for 4/25/2025 at a overcharge rate of 3778.97 and finally for the month of 5/25/2025 for the amount of 2392. These excessive and unauthorized fees directly contradict the rates promised to Oasis by \[sensitive content hidden\] These aggressive & abusive fees were never agreed to by Oasis and utterly contradicts the fees promised to Oasis by \[sensitive content hidden\]. This failure constitutes a direct and material breach of our contract.

Cons

Failed to deliver on contract promises. Blindsided us with an overnight fee increase. This company shows no evidence of possesing a moral compass nor expresses any concern with their clients needs.

So far, weve had success with Global Payments Integrated besides the one downfall of not receive notifications for some of our online payments.

Pros

We like the global payments integrates with Revolution so that the payments will automatically post.

Cons

Sometimes when a patient pays online, we dont get a notification, which kind of messes things up in the end.

Our overall experience with Global Payments was just okay. I'm sure they were fine in the beginning but towards the end of the time we were with them it was sub par

Pros

Customer support was good and they were able to help us with the problems we had. We were able to fix and buds and issues that the POS had.

Cons

WOW did they charge us a lot for the service! The value for money was not there. They were charging up almost a thousand dollars a month for unnecessary services

It was awful. Their customer service was non-existent. I had like six logins I had to keep track of and understand their purposes.

Pros

They said they would set up ACH transactions in addition to CC. After we cancelled and they charged us for breaking contract, they did refund us after I pointed out that they broke contract first and never met their obligations to us.

Cons

They didn't do what they said they would and their customer service changed from super connected to non-existent once our account was set up and we had signed the paperwork.

GPI was integrated with our CRM and I wanted that functionality. Unfortunately, we never got that far. I also wanted ACH capabilities and that was maybe the biggest reason we left PayPal. They never came through on it though.

Would never recommend this company and their customer service. Hard to contact anyone in customer relations and won't care about their mistakes or even realize your money is going to the wrong account.

Pros

N/A - Login was easy, but after weeks of using their service, we realized our money ($28k) wasn't in our bank account.

Cons

Went three weeks without income because they didn't double confirm our bank account information and $28k went to someone else's bank account. When we finally canceled once we received our money, they then charged us an early termination fee for their wrongdoing and hassle of their wrongdoing.

Because global payments is the parent company of Open Edge, it was difficult sometimes to keep straight which company I needed to contact. Logging in on the website was generally a challenge. Customer service was alright, but hold times were excessive. Overall I would advise anyone to steer far clear of this company

Pros

The software integrated with our point of sale, which was fine, and it was decently easy to use. That's about where the good ends

Cons

So. Many. Junk. Fees. Our initial rate was okay (int + .55% + $.25 per transaction) but after a year, it suddenly went up to 1.5% + $1.00 per transaction, plus risk assessment fees plus settlement funding fees plus a PCI program fee plus fixed network fee plus plus plus. In one month, our deduction more than doubled, which can be crippling to a small business. We ended up paying over 7% effective rate in the final month we did business with Global Payments. It was insane

This company is a masterclass scam artist. They will sneak in add-on services and charges to your statements without your knowledge and then insist that these are "mandatory services and charges" per the "regulations" . When you dig deeper to ask what regulations they are talking about, they will remove the charge...Oh, so what happened to the regulations now? The customer service reps have the people-skills of car salesmen and it looks like they make a commission from whatever additional charges they can fleece off of customers. My so-called 'personal rep' \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] is a complete liar and sounds like those phishing random callers claiming they are the IRS. I am a business owner for 25 years and the best advice I can give you is DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY

Not a single pro in my book for openedge processing

Beware of this merchant processor, please read reviews. Openedge illegally seized my sales deposit for my March 2020 wine club run just as the Coronavirus pandemic was crippling the restaurant industry in the US refusing to forward the funds to me the merchant and further refused to refund back to my customers. As this was monthly dues in a wine club returning the funds to the customer was a reasonable request I felt if openedge refused to forward the sales to the merchant. To add insult to injury during this unprecedented time in our country when we should all be trying to work together they withdrew processing fees from my bank account for transaction funds they were still in position of and refused to forward my funds to my bank account. Lastly, as customers processed chargebacks on the funds that they seized under my name from myself and my customers this company again ACH withdrew from my bank account additional funds not from processed transactions they were holding. This company is not only withholding funds from my sales but also Kentucky state sales tax dollars. Beware this is a very true story.

Overall we are very pleased with the service, we have had only a few issues the past 5 years we have been using the system. Great software that is easy to use and reliable.

Pros

Love that it easily integrated with our PM software making credit card processing a breeze. Competitive rates and easy to read statements. Easy to run reports and easy to refund when needed. Customer support is always prompt and helpful when we have issues, which is few and far between.

Cons

Honestly none that I can think of, rates to slowly raise over time but not any more than expected.

Pros

The pros are its easy to use if you have simple transactions to complete, also another pro is that you can use this on a desk top, which is surprisingly difficult to find for whatever reason.

Cons

Cons is customer service is really non existant. if you have an issue with charge backs forget it and good luck with that. we did not have a good experience and 5 months latter we are still waiting for them to get back to us.

### "Easy to use and integrated with my EHR"

Easy to get started and so far have no complaints about using them for payment processing.

Pros

It is integrated into my EHR which makes it very easy to keep track of billing and make sure charges dont get lost. They included a free terminal and their percentage rates are competitive. It was easy to enroll and easy to coordinate getting everything setup on my computer. They offer patients a variety of payment options and have a quick turnaround for depositing into my accounts.

Cons

As with a lot of software it wasn’t exactly Mac friendly but I was able to work around it with the install tech to get everything taken care of.

The ability to integrate and save on key strokes and prevent error when posting. Before we would have to go out of our software to charge and then re-enter the software to post the payment

Cons

Fees were fluctuating for a while but after a conversation it was reviewed and resolved quickly and has been stable ever since

J'ai détester faire affaire avec eux. Comme commercant tu doit avoir les encaissement rapidement. Cela fait maintenant plusieurs jours je ne n'ai pas mes fonds et j'ai très peu de suivi de mon représentant. J'ai perdu beaucoup de temps a cause d'eux. N'aller pas avec cete compagnie, je déconseille vraiment.

Pros

Bien franchement je n'ai pas grand chose a pprécier. Le représentant m'a dit tellement de chose qui fonctionnerais pour mes services et bref c'est juste du bla bla.

Cons

J'ai beaucoup de chose que je n'ai pas aimé. Au début on me dit les avantages de leur produit. Ok j'embarque. Et maintenant, aucun service à la clientèle, non argent de mes ventes est bloqué. c'est toujours de l'attente et de l'attente. Quel compagnie de merde sérieusement.

0 service client. Si tout va bien, c'est super. Mais lorsqu'il y a un problème (hacking, fraude, problème de configuration ou autre), il n'y a AUCUN service à la clientèle. Les directeurs de comptes ne répondent pas au téléphone, ni courriel. Vraiment un service de merdre.

### "Beware of rate changes"

I would not recommend OpenEdge to any business. You cannot depend on them to honor the rates they offer. It is a difficult to get in touch with customer service and they take a long time to respond when there are problems and you cannot get credit cards to process. Today I was told by OpenEdge credit card processors that the rate they agreed to charge me in October 2017 had been changed to almost double in May 2018. I was not checking my statements regularly and I called to get them to audit my account and correct the rates. They said it was standard practice for all processors to unilaterally decide to raise rates and businesses should just check their statements each month to see if rates had been raised. They said they had sent me written notification of the increase. Unless it was stated somewhere in the fine print at the end of the statement, I did not get any notification. Beware if you use this processor and check your rates each month. My rates went from .02% to .032% and the charge per transaction went from .08 to .18.

Pros

It was one of the few that was compatible with the POS I had.

Cons

Poor customer service when there were problems. It took a long time to get help. They agreed to lower my rates when I told them I had found a cheaper processor. 5 months later they almost doubled my rates. I was told they recommend store owners check their statements each month to see if rates had been raised and it was standard practice for credit card processors to raise their rates without agreement with the owners. Check the contract you sign with them. I was told it was in the contract they could raise your rates at anytime.

We do, however, always provide a thirty-day notice of any pricing adjustment on your merchant statements & you always have the opportunity to change providers if you feel we are not the best fit for your company. ### "High & Added Fees, Impossible to Cancel & Racist"

You will be much better off by avoiding this company.

Pros

They make signing up a very easy process and apparently their fees are "competitive"

Cons

Their fees are not competitive; they will gradually increase them and also include added fees. It is a very difficult process to cancel. Still after many follow-up calls and call backs they insist on making the process hard. Competitors such as Squarespace and other providers are cheaper and do not make it this challenging to cancel. Also, if you try to cancel and you have an accent, struggle to understand any points of communication and/or ask the representative to repeat themselves, be prepared for rude service. The customer service representative got frustrated on two separate calls and started criticizing my English. They then hung up and claimed that they cannot provide service because I asked for clarification and to come back with a translator. Very professional.

### "Run from this company"

Poor customer service, a guy named \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] in Technical started cursing and calling me names because I expressed frustration over trying to change batch times. I've been trying for 14 months to get someone at OpenEdge to make the changes only to be told something different every time I call. Extremely unprofessional and they just lost 2 accounts and $200K a month. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], you just cost your company $7500 a month. I will tell every business owner I know what just happened to me. You just hired me to give OpenEdge a lifetime of advertising.

Pros

Up until I was treated unprofessional by \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] in technical, I liked the integration. But I'm getting rid of them.

Cons

Virtually no customer service. Could not get anything resolved. They overcharged me $600 in December and $2300 in Jan. I received a credit for the $2300 but only after I insisted they overcharged. They are history.
