Pros: RDP is flexible enough to customize things to match our business rather than needing us to change to accommodate it. We are a seasonal business so being able to adjust rate plans, etc is important. We bundle rooms and food (+/- other items) into a package and it handles this well. Great reporting.

Cons: This is pretty granular but we have a non-calendar fiscal year so I wish the Statistical Totals display (it's an easy pull down for quick year over year comparisons) could start in November rather than January.

Pros: We chose this software because it fit our needs as a property manager (vacation rentals) as well as our hotel business . There are a lot of features and it can be customized to fit most of your needs if you are in the industry. It has a database style feel and many custom options.

Cons: The software also feels almost too advanced with many features you will never use. Sometimes it can be challenging to figure out how to do something simple in the system. It is not very intuitive or user friendly. But once it is fully set up and customized, screens can be limited for the front desk so they don't get overwhelmed. I'd recommend having a technical person run point on the initial configuration.

I have always had a good experience using the program .

Pros: What I like most about this software is its user friendliness. Its has the ability to give you all the data you need in related to your guest and their agents. It also give analysis which can with you planning.

Cons: What I don't like about this software is its inability to calculate a percentage of part of a total. e,g I may need a to calculate a discount on the room portion of the package not the meals.

So many features. Overwhelming when you're getting started.

Cons: There are so many nuances about it. It requires a lot of training which we don't have time for, and it seems we keep learning more aspects of the system with each issue that comes up. It's like having reactive training instead of proactive understanding.

Overall: That I have an online reservation system and am not doing this all by hand.

Pros: It's easy to correct a transaction after entering invoice data without having to delete and re-enter it on every occasion.

Cons: When selecting a house name for data entry, be careful how you scroll with the mouse, you can end up in the wrong house!

I find it very useful..but it is the only hotel software I have experience with

Pros: it is user friendly. And the tech support is very responsive. The variety or stock reports is very good for accounting purposes

Cons: setting up rate plans and syncing with wholesalers etc can be confusing. The Owner system does allow for enough space to include more than one email address when emailing statements to owners.

I enjoy using RDP it is an easy software to use and train new staff on.

Pros: The confidence to know that the support staff are always available and I have felt they have always been very knowledgeable and quick to respond. This team is a tremendous asset to you.

Cons: When a process works well and then seems to aquire a glitch. The upgrades at times cause this and it is frustrating. It would also be helpful if there was a manual to refer to as it is not always easy to find help within RDP for simple items.

Pros: All the many things that can be done on the software, yet I have no idea how to find how to do those things. I usually explore the software as much as possible when I have extra time. Playing with the software itself is the only way to learn a new task.

Cons: Constant errors. Constant changes are made to reservations that make no sense. Having to pay for any support needed. When given support it doesn't even fix the problem.

Very disappointed.

Pros: The ability to sort and export lists easily. The customizability is perfect. especially when it comes to something as easy as lists

Pros: Contemplates well all possible scenarios and revenue sharing set ups including travel agents, wholesalers, OTAs, etc. Also contemplates possible owner charges, shared expenses, reservation related charges, and customer management features.

Cons: While the reporting system is infinitely customizable, the Crystal reports software is tough for average employees. Also many features are available is additional modules with additional purchase expenses and annual support fees. And finally support is not available with a simple call but rather has to be scheduled for the most part.

A quality product that is easy to use. Great customer service.

Pros: The software has a lot of adaptability. There are a variety of features for both small and large properties. A very large selection of reports is standard and they are all customizable. They offer a mobile booking engine that is easy for guests to use. The support has always been excellent and fast.

Cons: More expensive than other options. The billing feature for groups and companies needs to be streamlined and easier to use.

Overall: Very adaptable and easy to use. Great service.

Pros: The flexibility of customizing the software through use of switches and other custom configuration settings makes it easy to use new features or keep them offline. RDP puts these settings in the hands of the user so you can make changes as necessary. I have also had great experiences with support. If necessary I am able to speak with a senior technician to get any issues resolved timely. They do a great job of being responsive.

Cons: The custom configurations sometimes make it difficult to track down bugs, duplicate the issues, and get them reported. The system needs more rate & yielding capabilities to keep up with the current trends in revenue management.

Powerful tool with archaic platform based handicaps vs. newer modern equivalents.

Pros: Works very well in and individual condo ownership environment with regards to reservations, sales, and operations.

Cons: Reporting is un-modern and difficult for non Crystal report gurus. RDP-centric parameters only known to RDP support make adaptability or customization very difficult for end users in an analytical and data based industry.

Overall: Growth

I get a lot of error messages and then the database closes. This occurs just about everyday.

Pros: The tape chart is an easy visual and shows availability quickly. It also displays the different types of reservations using colors, which is a nice feature.

Cons: When I make long-term reservations, it often changes the "share-with" reservation to the entire time instead of the month-to-month date I entered. I was told this was because we had to do the upgrade, which we did; but it still happens.

Overall: It is the only product that allows us to post manual rates.

Works for our property.

Pros: Fairly simple to use. User friendly in that RDP won't easily allow you make a mistake. It also runs you step by step through the functions that we use most often.

Cons: Certain functionalities that work best for unit types, but not for individual units. That could certainly be improved.

Comments: Fix the glitches and make your customer support easier on the caller, we're all busy running hotels here!

Pros: I liked the way the interface looks, it's very appealing. It's easily navigated and has a pleasant layout.

Cons: The glitches. Like others that worked with me when I used this system, I hated the persistent glitches, primarily between RDP and any POS software. Manually entering tickets onto reservations really gets old.

Pros: It is not a cookie cutter solution. It allows for multiple room styles and owners. Support is very helpful.

Pros: the software is pretty easy to use and learn. Many drop down menus to look through if you aren't sure what you are looking for, you can poke around to find it. Adding rates and packages are easy.

Cons: I wish all the add ons weren't so much money. I understand the concept, but for independent hotels, it's hard to convince the owners to spend. Also, the IRM is very basic. It would be nice if you could improve that to be up to par with other booking engines.

Pros: 1) Online Booking 2) Yield Management Capabilities 3) Ability to Build Package Rate Codes 4) Ability to Create and Merchandise a variety of room types.

Cons: 1) No clear process for working through issues with 3 rd party platform. Most of the 3rd part vendors to not have a specific contact at RDP to work through problems. Currently if the is an issues the vendor points the finger at RDP. RDP points the finger at the vendor and the custom must facilitate the process.
2) Online knowledge base is difficult to use and search. It is not always updated and very difficult to search

Overall: reasonable cost

I have used RDP for a period of ten years. I have found it to be intuitive and fairly easy to learn.

Pros: I like many things about RDP. I think that number one on the list is the ability to customize packages. We are now able to offer Room/Meal/Event packages to our Conference guests. This makes for a simplistic reservation experience which makes reservation clerks and guests very happy.
We have a unique facility and our business model would not fit neatly into any traditional classifications. For this reason, we needed a software program that could be adapted to our very specific needs. RDP has been able to deliver.
I use the Reservations module daily and have found it to be easy to use and most people are trained without difficulty. I am especially fond of the tape chart feature. Over the years we have gradually utilized features like the color codes on the tape chart. I am a visual person and I find this tool invaluable.
We have created and modified many reports for our various departments over the years. Our library of reports is impressive. We have created reports for every departmental need and are pleased with the ability of RDP/Crystal Reports to be tailored.

Cons: One complaint I hear consistently from our Sales Department is that re-bookings are not simple enough and that there is no ability to add reminders/calendars for tasks related to contracts. Also, our events coordinators complain about the difficulty related to event checklists and reminders.
We believe that the sales/events related portion of the software needs a complete overhaul. We were given a name of an event software company who were considering an interface with RDP that would address all of our needs. It would be nice if RDP could integrate their Events program with their Reservation/IRM modules.

Pros: It has multi-functionality for guests, it has ease of use when checking guests in and out. The in-house stats screen and the availability screen are very helpful tools. The amount of reports that can be created for the individual properties is also a GREAT feature of this system. The emails for "Tip of The Day" are awesome!! I have learned so much through these helpful emails!!

Cons: Too many options , it has a lot of glitches. You cannot add a guest name . To add a guest you have to create a reservation, this can be time consuming. Company fields are group fields instead of being separate. When balancing inventory you have to pause the entire system and every department to accomplish this task which in a 211 room hotel is cumbersome.

Overall: It is easy to learn and maintain

works but is not without its kinks. Rates changing randomly, updates cause more problems than solved

Pros: The software is relatively easy to learn and navigate. functions mostly as it should. staff is friendly when available

Cons: No real 24 hr support without fees. Cant even upload a support ticket on the weekends or overnight which is kinda ridiculous.

Overall: I could check guests in/out of hotel

Hi Jordan, We do have our support portal open 24/7. While we do charge a fee for after hours calls you could submit a ticket and we will assist you as soon as we can, often within the next business day.

Pros: ease of use, support, menus are easy to navigate. The display is clear and I like the fonts. It loads quickly. I also like the feature that extracts data and then lets me create an excel spreadsheet.

Cons: hard to correct after guest checks out. The support staff is good but sometimes they go to quickly when explaining something.

Overall: I understand front desk much better

Been using for over 10years and I love it!

Pros: It's very comprehensive and offers way more than we think we'll ever need. It was the only replacement to our almost obsolete program that was able to integrate our membership club files with the front desk program. We have had very few big problems and rarely have to re-boot. Seems pretty trouble-free.

Cons: The screens are very busy and there isn't much differentiation to them. The tape chart spaces for each day are way too narrow. We like to be able to see more information at a glance. The software is very complicated and difficult to learn for new employees. It's easy to make mistakes.

Overall: Necessary to run our business

Pros: User friendly, most staff can figure it out quickly. Decent reporting and statistical data. Doesn't need much maintenance once it is set up. Company has great customer support, they get back to you pretty quickly and solve your issues quickly.

Cons: Programming can be complex, company is slower towards any new developments - they seem to be just maintaining what they have.

I have been using it for a while and it is good.Over all the RDP team Is wonderful to work with.

Pros: Easy to use if you get the hang of it. It gives the exact report. The mass emailing is a plus to it.

Cons: The Software is little over priced. There are lot of other programs in the market which are cheaper and are offering more features. Support need to be more prompt, instead of call or emailing.

Pros: I love how simple it is to use. Very easy to train new FD agents on. The tape chart is a great feature.

Cons: Tracking who touches what in a reservation. Not the biggest fan of the Crystal Reports, however I could use more experience in this area and then my opinion could change.

RDP is user friendly and has tons of excellent reports. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Pros: I love the tape chart and how easy it is to move reservations around....one click and completed.
Easy to figure out from beginning to end of reservation being made for beginner to administrator.
Great staff to deal with from installation to daily use.....fast and efficient.

Cons: A lot of custom programming.
When searching under find a reservation and you search a common last name and you have to hit the arrow to the next page it always says "RDP has encountered a problem. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
You can go Comp to Pre-assign or Inventory but you can not go Pre-assign or Inventory to Comp.

Pros: It's very simple to get into a routine with RDP. Once you understand the basics, RDP's straightforward nature helps your fundamental yet crucial tasks become second nature.

Cons: While RDP does well generally speaking, it's the learning of advanced techniques that is difficult. When a situation that is atypical arises, it takes us more time than we feel it should to arrive to a solution. Oftentimes we must contact RDP's support to learn how we should handle a specific situation, and because there are an infinite number of different scenarios, it gives us hardship whenever the well-paved road gets a little bumpy.

Overall I feel that RDP is a quality sofrware. I feel that there should be more training available.

Pros: I do like the ability to add clear notes to reservations, and the history function is wonderful. Check in is moderately fast.

Cons: It's clunky and crowded, the interface is not intuitive and not near simple enough visually. Hospitality is fast paced and having to scour lines of text with faint grids around them is difficult in the face of customers. It would also be nice if the check in process integrated with Saflok.

Pros: This software has a the unique ability to track and run reports for individual units. If you are using Property Management System to rent/lease multiple units that have different ownership structures this is great software to do so.
Great value for any small-mid size property that is looking to update old software.

Cons: Up-front costs are much lower than other PMS for hotels but this system requires you to host on your server. There was no cloud options for running the software (This may have changed since we put this system in place in a hotel setting in 2011 and used it until 2013).

Comments: We have been approached by other companies but we have been very satisfied with RDP. We have tried some demo versions of other software but there was always something missing that we got with RDP so we have been sticking with it .

Pros: Very stable and well adapted to hotel control, this company has been in the lodging industry for a very long time. Support is great

Cons: The only thing that is touchy in our case is setting up the crazy lodging taxe we have in quebec, thanks to RDP support we were able to find a way . Not quite as convenient as I would have want but works ok.

Pros: RDP has been a great product for us! I have been using RDP for all 11 years I have been at the property, and it is a very user-friendly system to pick up and learn. The support team is always great in answering my questions and helping fix issues that pop up.

Cons: My only complaint is that it is sometimes hard to get a hold of the salesforce. I do realize the sales team is small, but emails and phone calls can go unanswered for days and sometimes weeks. Also, like some of the other reviews, sometimes a quick phone call into support is all that is needed, and it still means creating an internet ticket. They are great about responding to work tickets, though.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely take the time to explore and learn the ins and outs of the product. I have been using RDP's product for 11 years now, and I still find myself learning new aspects or easier ways to accomplish something within the system.

Pros: If there is a problem, or if we have made a horrible mistake, they provide quick and excellent technical support. Many of the staff have been there a long time, and we know each other by name. RDP feels a lot like a family.

Cons: As with most other companies, getting help is more complicated. Ten years ago, we could call customer support. Now, we email. I'm sure it's more efficient, and they are better able to prioritize their responses. It just feels less personal. It's not a big deal, though. It's just what I like least.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take a while to explore the software. Even after years of using version 3, I am still learning new things about it.

Pros: The software is very user-friendly. It is organized well and follows a well ordered step-by-step process for ease of use. Their customer service & support team is very friendly and easy to work with. They get back to us quickly and are always able to resolve our issues. They also provide great initial training and continuing education.

Cons: This software program is built for the industry and not for each individual property, so some things are not as customizable as one would hope. However, it has functionalities that can be adapted to meet most requests and requirements.

Recommendations to other buyers: Consider your reservation process and guest experience in terms of what you need at the front desk to be able to deliver the best service to them. Make a list of the functionalities that are important to your reservation and guest experience and compare them to the abilities of the modules that RDP offers.

Pros: It's easy to use and the customer service is great! Everything is windows based and navigates very easily. If I ever have a question, RDP's support staff is always there to quickly provide assistance.

Cons: I don't have anything negative to say. RDP always provides excellent customer support and assistance.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking for a system that can handle a 2,000 room hotel, then RDP might not be for you. However, if you are a smaller, more moderate hotel or resort, then RDP is the perfect fit!

Pros: It has a large menu of features, which is important to us, as we have a variety of properties. The system is easy to use and easy to train on. Best of all, it has proven to be reliable RDP support has been very good and managed to address all of our issues, few though they have been, with a single phone call.

Cons: Reporting could be easier. Crystal is way too complicated, and the stock reports do not cover some of the things we need. Support should be open 24/7, sometimes only a phone call will do.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take a long look at the program and at your operation. You may need to re-engineer some internal processes to get the most form this program, but you should do that with any PMS. When you stop and look, you will see that the feature set and interface menu can handle just about any operation at a fraction of the cost the top-tier PMS systems are charging.

We have had some challenges, but we think the worst is behind us.

Pros: We are a condominium-style resort with individual ownership (condotel). We have two separate resorts and a separate US-based reservations center, all operating under one name. We have a variety of booking and payment avenues and a lot of specific needs. RDP has been able to handle all of the little differences and details that set us apart from standard resorts with ease. For every question/possible issue, RDP has had a solution. Our staff likes the fact that this is more Windows-based and intuitive; everyone has caught on quickly. Our housekeeping, maintenance, and management teams love the mobile apps; communication and efficiency have improved.

Cons: In the future, it would be nice to see a back end accounting system added in so that we can do everything in one system.

Recommendations to other buyers: It helped our staff to purchase a few in-person training sessions. Overall, we have had four purchased: one for our US staff, one for our management team, and two for on-island staff. I would recommend other companies do the same. It helped our staff feel completely comfortable with such a big change. The property management system is the bloodline of the company; it makes sense to have as much training as possible.

Pros: The ease of Dollars on the Net is amazing. It's very user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Cons: There was no IT checklist provided so property IT could ensure that the equipment was compatible and up to date. This is helpful with onsite or contracted IT support. Shift4 teams need to coordinate the installs with RDP and not the hotel. The setup team was asking me install dates and times when it needed to be coordinated with RDP.

Recommendations to other buyers: Clarification must be made with the property that Shift4 does not remote in and handle setup. They ask their list of questions and provide key codes, etc., but an IT person really should be involved. In our install, RDP was blocked for install from 9am-12pm. Shift4 determined their install would be at 11am. When Shift4 called to start their install, RDP was not done, and I had to work with them to set up all the work stations. Shift4 asked me very technical questions that I didn¿t have the answers for, and our IT person was on call to assist and handled them. Again, a checklist of what needs to be determined or the understanding that a person does in fact need to be at the work station for the Shift4 install is crucial.

Pros: If you are in the business of managing vacation rental properties for third parties, this is the only system to even consider. We bought RDP several years ago and have watched the product evolve. We continually look at other programs to see what is out there, and nothing compares. It just keeps getting better and better. As we understand, the product can be adapted to both small mom-and-pop operations and to very large hotels. So anyone can take advantage of a quality product like RDP.

Cons: The only issue we even think about is integration with our accounting system. However, if you have a good accountant, this is not a problem. It's not a problem for us.

Recommendations to other buyers: This system can be as simple or as complex as you want it. The reservation system and homeowner accounting aspect are fantastic. It has great maintenance tracking and housekeeping scheduling systems as well. These are the things that really matter in this business. In addition, it is very easy to learn and use, which is important in a hotel or resort environment where turnover is common. In addition, you can get as elaborate as you want with Report Writer and other program features.

Pros: The warm, friendly, and professional staff at RDP are at the heart of what really makes this program work for our resort. Their knowledge and skill make the product work, but their sincere willingness to help us understand the program and customize it to our resort and their drive for customer service are what make the product work for us! We love the integration of the online system (IRM) with the same database that we pull from on our individual stations, so the two systems work seamlessly. Having the online system has increased our reservations dramatically, while allowing us to actually work with a smaller reservations staff. The individual property descriptions allow new guests and new staff to quickly see what each individual unit looks like, what is in the unit, where it's located, and what they can expect when they check in. The photos are easy for us to upload, and we can easily update descriptions as we change or upgrade our units. As the manager, I especially appreciate being able to customize reports to fit our needs. We can track demographics by city, state, or ZIP; we can run forecasts and stats on criteria we establish, and the data is easily transferred to both our Constant Contact and TripAdvisor databases. The service is outstanding. The process is very simple: you fill out a work order online. This allows you to define what your problem is, and their staff review it and assign both a technician and a time that is convenient for you to work on the problem together. Every time we work on an issue, it not only gets fixed, but the staff trains us so we can work more independently within the system. They are great at explaining the system, and their service is always prompt and professional. Most of our service calls fall in the nature of customizing reports, working through updates, and small tweaks. We know most of the staff by first name, and we feel that they know us. It's so much more efficient to work with people who know you, know what your goals are, and are willing to work hard to please you.

Cons: The only thing that bothered me was the amount of time involved in the initial setup, but that is something that is in all likelihood germane to the product. Regardless of whom you purchase a property management system from, you are just going to have to take pictures of all of your units, write property descriptions, and set up the rates. Ours was probably more detailed because we have 27 different floor plans (yes, I counted them just now!) and a three-tiered rate structure. Our units are each unique, so we couldn't standardize a picture of one unit and use it for several other units. We had to photograph and write descriptions and rates for almost 100 units. And again, it's something that we would have had to do regardless of who we purchased it from.

Recommendations to other buyers: Research what other companies that are similar in size and operation to your company are using. Talk to the front line staff who use their product and to the managers and accounting people who use different applications. Talk to the vendors and ask them for references, years in business, total costs, projections for installation time, and what exactly will be involved in installation. We researched 12 different vendors when we chose RDP, and we were happy with our decision because we knew there wasn't anything better out there for us. The sales staff at RDP was excellent in their understanding of the background of both the product and the information that we needed to know about installation. Work closely with the RDP staff on your pre-installation, and have as much staff as possibly available to work with them during the installation. I promise you; you will make lasting friends because their staff really cares about each and every customer. They have a corporate culture of being very proud of their product and working hard to make it work personally for each customer. That dedication shines through in every interaction that we have had with them.

Pros: It emphasizes accounting and owner features, which is key in a Condo Hotel environment. Since switching, I miss some of the automation they included for the EOM Owner accounting. But that ease doesn't offset the labyrinth they make of guest accounting, guest statements, daily reports, etc.

Cons: It's terribly slow to use in multi-station environments on a network. The reporting is awful and impossible to customize; there are tons of reports, but few of them are what you would want or need. The work order modules are a joke, as is the associated billing feature.

Recommendations to other buyers: They are a dinosaur, developed when this industry niche had fewer players. They really haven't adapted to the new platforms. They do not even attempt to appreciate their clients' needs.

Our system is very fast when the hardware is working correctly. Unfortunately, sometimes a customer will have a bad network card or switch that causes problems. Our support department will attempt to isolate the problem, but this is often not possible without help from the local hardware installation company. We have customers with over 100 workstations with excellent performance. The system has over 400 reports, and provides the ability for the customer to select which ones they like and only have those appear on their menu. Each customer finds a different set of reports useful. Each customer should review the available reports and then select which ones they want to appear on their menu. There can be one report list for reservations, another for accounting, etc. We frequently talk to customers about needs and enhancements. We also will add custom features as needed. Our "platform" uses the latest technology, including incorporation of mobile devices.
