Pros: I've been using Bluejeans for over two years now. I find the software generally high quality and runs in environments other videoconferencing solutions breakdown in. I love the Google calendar integration, handoff between IP and regular telephone for audio, as well as the web and mobile interfaces. Blue jeans works well with our videoconferencing hardware inside the office. Totally seamless experience.

Cons: Really I just have one major issue and I'm not sure if it's a configuration issue or an actual bug. Blue jeans meetings inside of my Google calendar don't show up on the mobile (iPhone) application.

Pros: Effective, I prefer Skype Business but my company uses this. The screenshare feature is nice and the admin controls are great. Works well most days. I like the mobile app a lot. Clear video and the recording feature comes in handy too.

Cons: International clients have a really hard time connecting sometimes. They tend to have problems with connectivity and audio quality. Also big con is that whenever I use the ScreenShare feature it slows my computer way down.

Pros: This software works so much better than Skype or Google Hangouts - every time I've used those programs, they cut out and get glitchy. Blue Jeans is much more stable and allows for screen sharing, chat, and audio/video control. It's intuitive and easy to use. You can schedule regular meetings and sent out reminders straight from the software, too.

Cons: Like any video chat system, things get tricky if more than one person is talking at once - you won't hear both people if that happens.

Overall: An easy to use video chat tool free from glitches - reliable, simple, and easy to navigate.

Pros: I like that it allows you to download software to your computer for video conferencing, or easily dial in from a phone if you can't get to a computer. The software download was a relatively small file which installed quickly and was able to be used immediately.

Cons: Occasionally the video quality cuts out, but I have never used a video conferencing service for which this wasn't the case.

Overall: Ability to see who I'm speaking with.

Pros: It's a great way to have everyone hop into a meeting and check in with one another "in-person." For the most part it's pretty reliable and great quality.

Cons: I've experienced awful dips in quality, garbled sound and pixelated video as if it were buffering, despite the Internet connection that a restart or reinstallation hasn't fixed! Can't seem to find a correlation when this happens; just randomly glitches out at times.

Pros: The thing that stood out the most to me was not only the ability to record the meetings themselves, but also the screen sharing of the participants. A really nice looking, smooth but still powerful piece of software.

Cons: Instead of reducing video quality if someone's internet is bad, it freezes or even drops the participant out entirely.

Overall: Fast, able to record screen sharing and very nice to use and look at.

Pros: The interface is really nice. It is intuitive and easy to use. I liked the BlueJeans user interface the best of the roughly 15 services I evaluated. The interface made me really want to use this service.

Cons: We had three basic criteria: 1) browser-based, 2) good audio, 3) legible screen sharing. This service didn't really deliver on any element.

They advertise as browser-based with no program downloads, but the first thing they try to do is load a program. It is possible to get to a browser interface, but they make it very difficult to do so. Browser-based is very important to us, because prospective and new clients don't want to download a special program just to meet with us.

Once you get into the service, audio is marginal to adequate. However, multiple calls to different parties never yielded usable screen sharing quality. Their screen sharing quality is well below several free services. As much as I wanted to like this service, we ultimately had to look elsewhere.

Overall: Received no benefits. The anticipated benefits were an easy to use, browser-based conferencing service.

Pros: BlueJeans is fairly easy to get up and running. My favorite feature is that you do not need a moderate to join before the meeting starts as long as two or more participants join. You can join either by browser or app, on your laptop, a room system such as Polycom, or by smartphone.

Cons: Like all video conferencing, the technology is getting better, but there can be lots of awkward bumps in the conversation due to people talking over one another, echoes, choppy audio and frozen video. This may not be the fault of BlueJeans per se, but it important to use the tool with best practices in mind.

Overall: BlueJeans is a quick and easy way to communicate with remote teams. So much communication can be missed on a phone call and definitely through emails. Video conferencing helps you capture the nuance of the conversation that you may miss otherwise and connect you to the people you are working with.

One of the very best software solutions for remote interviews and usability testing.

Pros: The interface is extremely intuitive and well thought out. The actual meeting interface so simple, when compared to other alternatives such as GoToMeeting, but all the necessary functionality is still there.

What makes Blue Jeans stand above most other online meeting software for my team is the ability to record the audio and video, not only of the participant's web cams, but also screen sharing. Since I work in product management and user experience design, we are always looking to get insight into customers' experiences and test new functionality. Being able to see their screens and their faces at the same time┬┐and record that for future review is so valuable.

In addition, it is so easy to join calls for participants. Simplified links and phone numbers/VOIP options are standard for this type of online meeting software, but Blue Jeans has just thought out the whole end-to-end experience so well.

Cons: I don't love the recorded video management interface. It takes a few clicks to get to the video and then there is no real great preview options. We just download and then upload to YouTube.

Pros: I love the unified agenda view of upcoming meetings. It makes it super easy to get into whatever meeting you're supposed to be in at any given time.

Cons: It doesn't handle differences in qualify of internet connections very gracefully. Usually it just freezes the person's image, rather than reducing the resolution. I work from home 2-3 times a week, and even though the office is only 1 mile away, we frequently have to turn off video and just chat via audio. But then what's the point of BlueJeans? Why not just call each other on our cell phones?

Overall: Connecting with our distributed teams around the company.

Pros: There was a free trial available, and it is rumored to work with Skype, as long as you send the correct invitation format to the person using Skype.

Cons: The video quality was not fantastic. However, after only using it once, I cannot be positive that issues I encountered were not due to my wifi quality at the time.

Overall: I used BlueJeans for the first time recently, and it worked relatively well, although there was some delay in audio/video transmittal. I was communicating from Germany to the US, and we found that we had to speak and then allow some time before beginning to respond. The video also cut out here and there or froze. Altogether, it was about the same average quality as most video conferencing tools that I have used.

Comments: BlueJeans is a great system when it is working well. With good audio, video, and screen sharing capabilities, it has helped our remote employees stay connected with colleagues. On the down side, there are random hours across random days where the video/audio will lag quite a bit or where screen sharing will not function properly. When it does work, it is great, but these lags are a huge let-down.

Comments: BlueJeans right from the start never disappointed us, fits perfectly. Easy to use, even with the hardware we already had like lifesize and Tandberg. Comments: The Pros are that this product seems to do everything an expensive hardware based unified conferencing bridge will do. It will Interconnect with various types of video sessions and augment the existing investment companies have in existing Video Conferencing rooms. The biggest negative is the final pricing is something that is withheld until you actually get a salesperson to speak with you. Then you discover that it is not the cost savings that would warrant taking that final leap into purchasing it. Simply because you can setup a small computer in your existing Video Conference room and invest in other solution like Join.me or ClearSlide or WebEx etc etc and use the PIP features of existing A/V equipment to still keep your initial investment and have another screen sharing option available is needed. The existing bridging solution already out in the world like Providea or Interconnect is priced competitively on a per use basis cheaper than a Bleujeans annual contract . Which for the business segment Bluejeans is targeting, SMB's, is probably a better option since the amount of time they will actually use a video conference that requires pulling outside clients in is very rare. If Bluejeans really wants to compete in a market where other offerings are doing almost all of the same things with the exception of video bridging...for the moment... then they need to be aggressively competitive on pricing which means the $10 to $50 per user per month range is what they need to actually target and they need to announce it on their website instead of requiring a call to get prices in a way where the client walks away thinking "did I actually get the best deal possible". This is like actually walking into a car dealership where everyone has to haggle and no one gets the same price.

Advertised Pricing is very Misleading

Comments: Whilst this might be a great product with lots of appeal, the pricing structure is not readily available and what is available of the pricing structure gives the impression that it is obtainable at $10 per user per month.
However after you waste a whole lot of time and finally get a sales person on the line only to be told that the minimum price is $990 per month it gets to leave a very sour taste in your mouth having wasted a bunch of time researching a service that is way out of the price range of most SMB's .
Thanks Heaps Blue Jeans for your Misleading sales practise.

Vendor Response

by BlueJeans on August 03, 2014

Sorry you had a confusing experience with our pricing. But thanks for the high marks on the product itself. As you have probably surmised, the BJN service is not designed to be a budget or no frills consumer solution. It is intended for businesses in need of the combination of high quality video, high reliability, broad reach to participants all over the world, and unmatched interoperability to connect any combination of mobile, desktop, and conference room systems from multiple vendors. For customers in need of a mission critical business collaboration tool it provides tremendous value, but it is not designed for everyone. We hope you find an adequate solution for your needs and thank you for considering Blue Jeans.
