Comments: There are healthcare systems and facilities that are more focused on a passive healthcare approach and I know one specifically I have worked with in Virginia that has actually created from scratch their own EMR system (using their on staff software engineers) that focuses more on the patient as opposed to the turnover.

Pros: This software is easier to use than many of the main stream EMR/EHR systems. Templates are useful and simple to set up.

Cons: I feel that most EMR or EHR systems are geared towards patient turnover and while a lot of FQHC facilities may focus on patient turnover for revanue indicators. Epic could stand to benefit from marketing software to facilities that don't focus on patient turnover.

Pros: I love patient portal and e-prescribing features which helps us meet the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. The tool also supports telemedicine options that allow our doctors to communicate with patients via a video platform and offers mobile and tablet functionality. EpicCare MyChart allows patients to view medical information, message doctors, schedule appointments and manage medical history via a personalized portal.

Cons: The health maintenance options could be better, and easier to see and mark as complete. Also out would be easier if when you marked something got a preference it wouldn't add a copy to the main menu. Upgrade to EPIC 2017 is a fight.

Overall: With EpicCare, clinics can streamline their workflows using personalized screens, dashboards and specialty applications. The application's finance module allows clinics to track payments, bills and invoices. EpicCare is a mobile-ready solution, allowing both doctors and patients to access information on their Apple devices.

Comments: I would recommend if hospital or practice care would permit

Pros: Full access of all parameteres and clinical data (outpatients , inpatients, past encounters, medication) for a really cohomprensive insight at a glane and at a finger touch

Cons: If anything, too many function and degree of complexity for advance features that you can ignore but gives a feeling like you are missing something and not using at its full potenitality Cost

Pros: Perhaps the most extensive EHR out there in terms of features. Has a robust system for outside providers from the large health system that is very useful.

Cons: Excessive amount of clicking and a non intuitive user interface. The language used in the system is very technical and not user friendly.

I like epic because it is helpful in my medical records job in receiving records from hospitals.

Pros: It has a broad range of records on multiple patients from different facilities. There are imaging, labs, consults, referrals, and office notes of importance of all patients who have been to a medical hospital or facility in the area that is connected to epic's program.

Cons: It is broad and can be confusing to understand. Also, not all programs and facilities are connected to epic so we have to request records instead of grabbing them off epic ourselves.

Cons: Too much functionality, take a long time to really learn the EMR and explore all the functions that it has to offer.

Comments: I am a physician and consciously avoid health care facilities that use EPIC for my own care because I think it is so bad. Access from home on call but any software does this. It is actually very cumbersome to log in from home

Cons: Insufficient space to list all the problems Great for people with OCD who just like to click boxes. Clunky, cumbersome, slow, cluttered and poorly designed screens After 7 years it just keeps getting worse. I have used much better EHRs in other settings.

Pros: Epic was one of the best softwares I've used to integrate all electronic medical records.

Would definitely recommend this software to new users. It is easy to integrate with existing PACS softwares as well

Cons: Too much of information is available so physician should have a clear idea about which exact info s/he is looking for

Overall: easy integration to existing pacs system.

Comments: I like it now that I have learned a lot of it. There are many other things I need to learn, but it will take another year or two.

Pros: It has a lot of good features: quick access to note by other providers who use the same program and Macros = SmartPhrases.

Cons: It is hard to learn because it is so complex. When they do updates they erase our "Favorites" and the updates are only exciting to them. They always make the program worse for we users.

Cons: The software is very elaborate and can be timely to learn how to fully use all of the features.

Pros: The accountability and navigation are great! I love that reviewing pts charts are so much easier than other programs. Also, the Care Everywhere function is great!

Cons: I really haven't encountered anything that I really don't like about this product.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would say the Output charting in Epic is amazing and a great way to keep all members of the heath care team in the loop about pt care.

Pros: Fairly easy to learn and use. It has all the information needed to access pt medical history, test results, drug guides and new and old orders.

Cons: Instruction on use of product was weak. I kept looking for a back button. I need to emphasize that there is no back button. Too many columns for procedure documentation. What about care plans? Seem to be fading.

Recommendations to other buyers: I thought the triage/secondary assessment was long and confusing. It could be combined with a big highlight where the assessment left off for interruptions.

Pros: EPIC covers almost every facet of EHR & PM in a unified interface.

Cons: Slow response in large practice. There's too much "data input" required directly by MD/NP providers which would normally be delegated to a nurse assistant or medical technicial.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ensure that your "build" of EPIC matches your practice's environment. In example, default "hospital" build is much less functional that specialized ambulatory medicine (custom) build out.

Pros: Ability to connect with other hospitals and clinics through CareEverywhere.

Cons: Inability to easily convert smartphrases and preferences from one Epic site to another Epic account at a different facility/health care organization.

Recommendations to other buyers: It seems that this will be one of the premier EHR platforms in the future, at least in the NW U.S. It may be worth investing in it now rather than having to switch EHRs in the future.

Pros: I am just an end user, I did not have an opportunity to choose between diferent software. My hospital uses this.

Cons: I like it for the very reason it was invented: to keep data in one place and to avoid duplication, repetition and endless busy work that previous charting represented.

Recommendations to other buyers: I don't have any recommendations. Answer the questions if you are a user, it is straight forward and hopefully you will have more to say than myself.

Cons: There isn't anything I dislike about the product.

Recommendations to other buyers: Some features need to be added, like being able to change the time of charting. If I place a long charting time, I have to erase all date-unable to change the charting time. Neuro assessment does not have a lot of options-I need to make a note a lot due to lack of options.
