Pros: I think that everything can be found in one place. As a clinician, it is nice to have notes and information from every discipline that is caring for the patient, which provides more well-rounded care. The formatting and tabs are also easy to use.

Cons: It is constantly changing, making it hard to keep up. Although everything is customizable, it takes too many steps to do so, and makes it almost not worth it.

Comments: Over all this is an excellent software for clinic or hospital based healthcare organizations.

Pros: Epic is easy to use once learned. Epic is adaptable to multi specialties. Also, epic is simple for the patient to use the health portal and easy to transfer patient information across healthcare systems.

Cons: The learning curve is extensive. Also, the multiple screens to obtain patient information or perform a task such as order sets is time consuming.

Pros: Search feature within patient chart is incredibly helpful as is generating letters to patients. I love that everything is easy to find and the navigation is customizable, yet simple.

Cons: Would have liked customizable labels for the status of work queue lists. Bugs sometimes took a long time to get fixed.

Overall: ease of tracking patient interaction across multiple departments and facilities.

Comments: The good thing about EPIC within home care is that it's a relatively new system and the epic team is open to suggestions and have actually implemented changes that we have suggested. They are good to work with.

Pros: if you work in a large system, this product is great.I love that I can follow a patient's care from acute care to rehab, to home care. Cuts down on extra phone calls when I can find the things I need within the chart online.

Cons: Charting by exception is difficult for me as I don't want to miss anything when I'm charting. There are important things that one may not be prompted to complete

Pros: I like the ease of the flow sheets. I feel like it¿s easy to review results. The MAR is very easy to read and is color coded to make it even easier to use.

Cons: I feel like it¿s somewhat difficult to review orders. There is Manage Orders as well as Order History, which is sometimes difficult to see the full order and how it was entered. I would also like to see a TAR (treatment administration record). A TAR would allow better visibility for treatments such as wound care or skin care.

Pros: I really loved all of the different work ques. It was impossible for a claim to get lost in this software. You can reassign it after so many weeks or create work ques. That was 100% my favorite part of using this software!

Cons: It was just really difficult to learn and took a lot of training. I don't recall feeling overly satisfied with the customer service support. I felt we learned a lot on our own just from trial and error.

Pros: LOVE THAT THE DETAILED INFORMATION ON PATIENTS IS ONE CLICK AWAY AND BOOKING SURGERIES OR ADDING ORDERS IS A GREAT EASY FEATURE!

Pros: Easy to set up templates. Documentation can take a while without setting up templates. For MD and nursing staff the program has useful information for point and click type documentation. Communication between providers, staff, and patients can be set up easily.

Cons: Is not a good program for rehabilitation facilities. Templates make it easier but for ease of scheduling, analytics for business operations, and documentation it is not a good fit for outpatient settings.

Pros: I like that it is simple once explained to you. For physical therapy, I use what I need to but not there is a lot of extra information because I am in a hospital setting which is beneficial to other healthcare workers but not always necessary for me.

Cons: Sometimes, there seems to be too much info and options to choose from to view what a person is looking for. There are many different ways to do one simple task and I think it should be narrowed down to how to do it in one way.

Pros: Okay, let's be honest: Most EMR software is lousy. It's got dozens of features bolted together ad-hoc, without any real thought behind UI or UX. The result is a confusing mess. And most vendors don't mind it being so confusing, as long as the functionality is there, because then they can charge for enterprise training and service contracts.

Epic is no different. It's got lots of functionality, for sure. If you can find it. But once you do, it really does enable you to keep tabs on everything pretty well. The best features include the CareAnywhere views and shortcuts into PACS systems.

Cons: The worst features? The horrible color themes and lack of customization therein. The inconsistency in customizability -- there's a "wrench icon" practically everywhere, which allows you to tweak certain settings. Yet some things are impossible -- like rearranging columns in the Chart Review section. Also, the Inbox functions are really terrible.

Pros: Ease of use/user friendly; scheduling and charting system in one program; linked to MyChart as well; a number of other hospitals use Epic which makes getting pt information across systems easier

Pros: I like the number of features that allow preparation for chart documentation, such as huddle note and provider scratchpad. Then being able to transfer this data later with a smart phrase is quite helpful.

Cons: Not as customizable as I would like it to be. Would be like to create custom templates to use for my profession without needing "approval" from some team that does not use EPIC in the same capacity as I do.

Comments: There are healthcare systems and facilities that are more focused on a passive healthcare approach and I know one specifically I have worked with in Virginia that has actually created from scratch their own EMR system (using their on staff software engineers) that focuses more on the patient as opposed to the turnover.

Pros: This software is easier to use than many of the main stream EMR/EHR systems. Templates are useful and simple to set up.

Cons: I feel that most EMR or EHR systems are geared towards patient turnover and while a lot of FQHC facilities may focus on patient turnover for revanue indicators. Epic could stand to benefit from marketing software to facilities that don't focus on patient turnover.

Pros: I love patient portal and e-prescribing features which helps us meet the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. The tool also supports telemedicine options that allow our doctors to communicate with patients via a video platform and offers mobile and tablet functionality. EpicCare MyChart allows patients to view medical information, message doctors, schedule appointments and manage medical history via a personalized portal.

Cons: The health maintenance options could be better, and easier to see and mark as complete. Also out would be easier if when you marked something got a preference it wouldn't add a copy to the main menu. Upgrade to EPIC 2017 is a fight.

Overall: With EpicCare, clinics can streamline their workflows using personalized screens, dashboards and specialty applications. The application's finance module allows clinics to track payments, bills and invoices. EpicCare is a mobile-ready solution, allowing both doctors and patients to access information on their Apple devices.

Cons: Insufficient space to list all the problems Great for people with OCD who just like to click boxes. Clunky, cumbersome, slow, cluttered and poorly designed screens After 7 years it just keeps getting worse. I have used much better EHRs in other settings.

Pros: Epic was one of the best softwares I've used to integrate all electronic medical records.

Would definitely recommend this software to new users. It is easy to integrate with existing PACS softwares as well

Cons: Too much of information is available so physician should have a clear idea about which exact info s/he is looking for

Overall: easy integration to existing pacs system.

Pros: Very organized and easy to use. Also able to identify MD orders and access other personal medical information that can be used for treatment purposes.

Cons: Can contain a lot of information so need to go through whats important and whats not pertinent to your profession.

Overall: Use it daily and very helpful.

A challenge to get comfortable with but totally worth it!!!!

Pros: Very comprehensive and adaptable to your practice needs. Reporting very easy to work with and a comprehensive system. Chart management, practice management, and A/R management

Cons: Extensive build to get it where you want it. Everyone who will need to build must attend training in Wisconsin for at least 2 weeks!

Pros: The system has everything you will need in an EMR. There is a reason why it is one of the top EMRs in the USA

Cons: Can feel overwhelming at first for employees, especially if they are not use to EMRs or do not have great computer skills

Comments: I like it now that I have learned a lot of it. There are many other things I need to learn, but it will take another year or two.

Pros: It has a lot of good features: quick access to note by other providers who use the same program and Macros = SmartPhrases.

Cons: It is hard to learn because it is so complex. When they do updates they erase our "Favorites" and the updates are only exciting to them. They always make the program worse for we users.

Pros: It does just enough to not be annoying. The dot commands are good and allow sharing among members. But that's it

Cons: Server based. Always updating, too many contexts to switch between. Also it is expensive. I am using this during fellowship, but won't again.

Pros: Epic is filled full of robust features and is way to use in terms of navigation.

Cons: The software is very elaborate and can be timely to learn how to fully use all of the features.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be patient and don't be afraid to demo a product a few times. Your time is not wasted if you are critically thinking about the product and how it would improve your workflows.

Pros: Epic is by far one of the easiest software to use and it can be configure to meet the needs of any health care enterprise or small doctors's office.

Cons: The only negative comment regarding Epic is the lack of compatibility with anesthesia codes and chargers.

Recommendations to other buyers: In my professional opinions EpicCare is the best and most reliable EHR system in the market right now... Reason why its taking all the big players' market share.

Pros: The accountability and navigation are great! I love that reviewing pts charts are so much easier than other programs. Also, the Care Everywhere function is great!

Cons: I really haven't encountered anything that I really don't like about this product.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would say the Output charting in Epic is amazing and a great way to keep all members of the heath care team in the loop about pt care.

Pros: Fairly easy to learn and use. It has all the information needed to access pt medical history, test results, drug guides and new and old orders.

Cons: Instruction on use of product was weak. I kept looking for a back button. I need to emphasize that there is no back button. Too many columns for procedure documentation. What about care plans? Seem to be fading.

Recommendations to other buyers: I thought the triage/secondary assessment was long and confusing. It could be combined with a big highlight where the assessment left off for interruptions.

Pros: It's similar to other systems, so I'm able to navigate through CareEverywhere for patient care coordination

Cons: There are too many clicks to get anything done - there are multiple places where information duplicates (needs to be entered more than once).

Recommendations to other buyers: It is a common system, but has some bugs that never seem to be improved.

Pros: Ability to connect with other hospitals and clinics through CareEverywhere.

Cons: Inability to easily convert smartphrases and preferences from one Epic site to another Epic account at a different facility/health care organization.

Recommendations to other buyers: It seems that this will be one of the premier EHR platforms in the future, at least in the NW U.S. It may be worth investing in it now rather than having to switch EHRs in the future.

Pros: EPIC covers almost every facet of EHR & PM in a unified interface.

Cons: Slow response in large practice. There's too much "data input" required directly by MD/NP providers which would normally be delegated to a nurse assistant or medical technicial.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ensure that your "build" of EPIC matches your practice's environment. In example, default "hospital" build is much less functional that specialized ambulatory medicine (custom) build out.

Pros: I am just an end user, I did not have an opportunity to choose between diferent software. My hospital uses this.

Cons: I like it for the very reason it was invented: to keep data in one place and to avoid duplication, repetition and endless busy work that previous charting represented.

Recommendations to other buyers: I don't have any recommendations. Answer the questions if you are a user, it is straight forward and hopefully you will have more to say than myself.

Pros: It is very user friendly and easy to learn. It did not take a long time to get used to. It is one software system - place the order and charting. I can pull all date from other hospital where EpicCare is used.

Cons: There isn't anything I dislike about the product.

Recommendations to other buyers: Some features need to be added, like being able to change the time of charting. If I place a long charting time, I have to erase all date-unable to change the charting time. Neuro assessment does not have a lot of options-I need to make a note a lot due to lack of options.
