Pros: We have been using Vimeo for your business for three years now and have never had any complaints. I work for a television news website and sometimes we need to upload additional video that our individual system does not support. That's when we turn to Vimeo. All of the videos we've uploaded have been crystal clear.

We like that we're able to grab a code and paste it on our own website. It gives an option to link back to Vimeo but it isn't tacky and overwhelming. It looks neatly embedded onto our page while giving Vimeo the credit they deserve.

We also like that you can customize links. This is great when we need to send a link to a video to someone who isn't in the immediate vicinity. We can change the privacy settings of Vimeo so only that person with the link can see it.

Cons: The only real complaint we have is that we tend to run out of storage space each week. Also, we wish there was a way to remove the large title off the top of the screen. An option to make it smaller or remove it altogether would be nice.

Overall: We are solving the problems of running out of storage space. This is a great way we can upload additional video. We also frequently need to send video elsewhere and we use Vimeo for that. Other businesses and platforms are able to easily see the video that we are sharing.

The embed option is great! It's super easy to grab the code and go. You can also share a link to whatever video you upload right to your own social media page. This is easier than going through the trouble to directly upload a video to Facebook or Twitter which can clog their system.

Vimeo Pro also gives you the option to see that "stats" on each individual video that you uploaded. It shows how many people have played your video, the impressions made, and the play rate. You can also link your Vimeo to Google Analytics to keep a closer eye. Mainly we just use Vimeo Pro for the uploading of videos itself.

Pros: Vimeo exceeded all expectations. When uploading videos, Vimeo would fork the file into multiple deliverables to have options to provide each user with the optimum file for their device/bandwidth. The security features were excellent. You can define passwords for videos or set specific sites that videos can be played on, but blocked from all others. There were other Intro and Outtro features that can be set with the tool (we didn't use this, but were aware of the capability). The analytics dashboard provided key details on video consumption. This allowed us to gather key information on what videos were successful and what made videos successful.

Cons: The one thing I would love to see offered by Vimeo is the ability to create a playlist of videos into a coordinated sequence or set of videos around a topic.

Overall: I had to move a video library of 120+ videos from an FTP server to a video hosting platform. We selected Vimeo, and couldn't be more thrilled. It was very secure and parsed uploaded files into multiple deliverables so customers would get the video sized right for the device they were using to access the video.

The biggest testament to how much we believed in Vimeo is that our video library moved from just over 120 when we moved onto Vimeo to close to 700 videos in 1.5 years. We had thousands of customers accessing custom content, but never had a security breach (we could see the failed attempts from some hacking centers across the world).

Pros: I really like the non-filtering aspect of Vimeo - they in essence let you upload and post anything you want when you have a Pro account. Because they do not get the volume of hits YouTube gets, your videos are less likely to get nitpicked to death by automatic filters that sometimes call claim to something that is definitely not owned by someone else. I've stopped posting my videos on YouTube for the most part because of their constant unwarranted, incorrect claims on MY OWN material. With Vimeo, this is not an issue.

Cons: Their are only a couple of drawbacks. The first is Vimeo's processing time. Once a video is uploaded, it seems like it takes a very long to post once it's processed on Vimeo's side. The longer the video, the longer the processing (obviously), but it does seem to lag behind YouTube and Daily Motion. Still, the service and quality Vimeo offers is far superior...and again, that's because you pay for it. But I have no problems with paying because the service and quality are so good. The second issue is minor - if you want your videos to reach the widest audience, the typical search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.) do not seem to pick up the Vimeo links as often as their YouTube results. Again, this is a minor issue for me.

Overall: The couple of times I've contacted Customer Service have resulted in IMMEDIATE responses...usually in less than an hour. The quality of the video streams are far superior to YouTube and Daily Motion and I like the ability to link Vimeo videos to my Roku TV channel. They provide an excellent "hosting" and storage outlet.

Pros: What I like best about Vimeo Pro are the strong control / privacy features and the video review features. Being able to control password protection, link expirations and video downloadability add so much relief when sharing and reviewing sensitive video content. The content is so secure and early versions of videos that aren't final yet don't have to be downloaded by people that shouldn't be given access to download them. I've worked in advertising and tech and I'd much rather share early rounds of video content via Vimeo Pro vs. WeTransfer or another video sending / sharing program since I can protect against their ability to download the file and accidentally use it later or confuse it for a final. So, quality control and version control are made easier simply by having the program be protected, filterable and secured. Version control is made even clearer via video review pages where you can compare video versions and detail differences among videos and even add timestamped notes right within these videos to detail these said differences. For working in video production, Vimeo Pro is top notch and really helps streamline, clarify and consolidate videos in development.

Cons: This isn't necessarily something I dislike but just a truth to share after videos are final my teams and I have always moved our videos to YouTube and social media vs. hosting them on Vimeo since YouTube is more universally used. My teams have known you can link Vimeo videos to YouTube, etc. and even initiate paid advertising through the Vimeo portal but for videos on YouTube and other channels but that always seemed like too much work / not worth it when you can go handle business with YouTube directly.

Pros: We've used Vimeo Pro and Vimeo Plus plans for many years. Super customizable for embeds on sites and great stats.

Cons: 1) There is no customization on ALL player controls or colors in embeds, just most. If you want an auto-play video with no progress bar or overlays, look elsewhere.

2) They abide by strict DMCA copyright rules. If you have a video flagged as copyrighted 3 times, you are banned. We had 2 violations at the same time from another user due to an old ex-employee re-uploading a file for internal use and making it public. We then (like 7 years later) got flagged for a song or something and were told we had a few days of read only access to download nearly a decade's worth of content before they deleted it. WHAT?!?! No appeal process or anything. No phone number. We sent an email (the only option) which was ignored. We finally found someone on the phone who seemed surprised we had found them and managed to find out how to get one of the originally DMCA complainants to remove their complaint. Now we live on a "1-strike and we lose it all" reality. Whiff. Seems there should be some method of complaints expiring after so many years or something to avoid punishing long time users at the same rate as new users. We could open a new account, but we'd lose thousands of videos we've created. How is that fair? I get copyright protection and all, but youtube's approach is more civil.

Pros: Vimeo's paid offerings make it easy to upload, share, and manage large video libraries at the highest quality. It's the de-facto standard for digital screener sharing in the independent film and television sector.

The admin and features are very easy to understand - and we've had no trouble training non-technical staff to set up even complicated videos with unusual combinations of security permissions.

They have robust support for privacy control, embedding, subtitling and other accessibility features.

As a major platform, most major encoders come pre-set with optimized profiles, and (in most cases) automatic upload functions available.

Cons: The paid offerings can sometimes be a difficult sell for very small companies/individuals as there are few services that Vimeo offers that can't be replicated by completely free alternatives (mostly via YouTube) - but the high quality and ad-free experience is often worth it.

Pros: A part of our marketing services is video marketing. And we use a number of software to create unique and best videos for our client. And vimeo is our storage and platform which we use to share our videos. Having 200+ clients and several products means we have to create a number of videos per week. Vimeo pro allows you to upload 15+ GB per week, which is a must for us. The privacy is updated, we love that. You can make the changes on the same video and have the link not changed. That is very convenient for us when improvising ads.

Cons: I did have issues when looking up for old videos from profile, sometimes even if I search with the Video id, the video doesn't show up. I have to go deep into the video list to find the video.

Overall: For a marketing company this is the best video storage. Sharing the videos across different platforms is just a single click away. We can always keep track of the video engagements and get the progress. Creating separate lists and embedding the videos have made it even more attractive for the clients to see. Best ever!

Pros: No ads play before the video unlike Youtube which has become saturated with ads. Videos easily embed into websites, email, or social media. This is the highest quality video product on the market.

Cons: Vimeo does not have the search engine force of Youtube and unfortunately does not play within an email but opens in a new window. Hopefully something can be done about the latter.

Overall: Vimeo Pro is the perfect tool to use to have clients or a specific audience focus on a specific video without being inundated with ads for other products that can cause loss of interest or direct focus to another product. Vimeo Pro has the highest quality video and gives an extremely professional approach to your audience. I have used Vimeo Pro for years and find it easy to use and integrates with all platforms. Analytics, security, hosting, management and storage all of the highest quality. I would sincerely recommend Vimeo Pro as it has been the successful choice for us.

Pros: So many pros to list here. My favorite features are the reviews page. Giving a private link and allowing clients to make notes at specific times in the video has been hugely helpful. The ability to replace the video while maintaining the same URL is also amazing, and very helpful when managing videos linked to all kinds of sites. All the privacy options makes it easy to manage a huge portfolio. The albums feature makes it easy to organize large video lists into sections. Being able to allow downloads makes this the best platform for working with clients from start to finish. Can't praise Vimeo enough. Vimeo > Youtube

Cons: Occasionally, the upload will fail and replacing the video will not work, making it necessary to start over with a fresh link.

Pros: Vimeo is a great video hosting platform for the cost. It has rich features inclusion very good embedding tools and stellar security. It provides good analytics on your video usage. All for a really good price.

Every uploaded video is split into multiple versions so your user will have the best option displayed based on their device (why download a 1920x1080 video on a phone?).

And it is intuitive. I unleashed this to a product development team at a software company and inside of 6 months they added over 500 videos to train customers and embed in our help system and training portal.

Cons: The one thing that vimeo doesn't have that YouTube does is auto generating CC.

Overall: Stellar. Highly recommended. Essential is you need secure hosting for videos

Pros: Vimeo Pro is, in my experience, the lowest compression video streaming service for professional use (other than just sending files directly to clients). Vimeo is a great place to hold reels, demos, and featurettes to showcase your work, as it definitely carries a quality edge over the competition. Videos look less compressed, and resolution/codec support is quite robust.

Vimeo Pro is also a really neat way to meet other artists and view their work. Because Vimeo is tailored to creative uses, sifting through content is much easier than on YouTube, where there are buckets of non-artistic videos being published every second.

Cons: Vimeo is expensive for the service provided. Yes, Vimeo provides low compression video streaming, which matters when trying to make your best impression with clients or partners, but the price seems high when the chief competitors are free.

Also, Vimeo's mobile website and apps are consistently buggy. Performance is slow, the site often crashes (tested on various mobile devices), and sometimes videos scale incorrectly when in fullscreen.

Lastly, Vimeo has not innovated as much as competitors. Though the site is generally more attractive, and the UI is easy to use, things have not changed much in the time since I began using it. This might mean the developers are not seeking for long-term growth.

Overall: Vimeo is a great, low-compression digital venue to showcase artistic work that matters.

Pros: We have used the paid version of Vimeo to store and display many of our works and educational pieces. Being Vimeo one of the giants for online videos, we feel calm about the security and operation of the platform. The display options with passwords or geolocation are great. Additionally, we can define exactly who and how we want to share the videos. It's great, easy and safe!

Cons: It is not necessarily a negative thing, but it is the reason why we do not continue using the service. For large companies it may not be a problem or a representative expense to pay monthly for this service. For smaller companies (like ours) a free (or cheaper) option that basically offers the same options may be more appropriate. Of course, it will not have as much style and cache as Vimeo, but it will work ...

Pros: This service is incredibly beneficial towards the work that our team produces. It is a professional person's YouTube, but on steroids. The review tool is an incredible feature that has helped us work through edit revisions in a streamlined and transparent way, ultimately minimizing the amount of unnecessary work we used to waste time doing.

Cons: It's something that you have to budget in appropriately, but the cost is worth the value.

Overall: Vimeo Pro is our most valuable tool. We use it for public posting, but the private review features and file delivery aspects are the real gem of the service.

Pros: Typically not blocked on corporate firewalls, fully customizable embedded player, high quality playback (does not force down sampling), good analytics, and review/feedback system when you are capturing feedback from several people. While these are all great, the most important feature has to be the ability to replace a video with an updated one while keeping the same URL!

Cons: Would benefit from better mobile experience (perhaps an app?) or the ability to add tracking codes to urls. The end screen functionality is fantastic, but only works in the embedded player. I wish it would work on the regular player as well.

Overall: The pro account is absolutely worth the cost if you do any video marketing. It has become my default hosting platform for nearly 80 video assets. It has transformed my process by allowing me to keep the same url when I update videos and the higher quality playback has made us look great.

Pros: Pro is a really great option for small groups and individual professionals that need to upload, house, and share their media. Provided you keep your content to 20GB or less weekly, it's a very cost effective solution! Probably best suited to those creating several short HD videos weekly, or those creating a couple HD videos weekly.

Cons: With the 20GB weekly cap, you need to be aware of the quality of video you're capturing and then the output. Our org had to upgrade to another plan based on upgrades to our video equipment to film everything in 4k, and also based on the number of larger videos we're launching each week to a large org. Honestly, the only other reason to upgrade to a higher tier plan are the other features and livestreaming if that becomes a need.

Overall: Been using Vimeo in professional and personal environments for a long time, and it's definitely the best option in class that I've had the chance to use.

Pros: Vimeo pro offers a generous weekly upload capacity and some nice features built in to help us organize our films. We like the film community aspect of Vimeo Pro and online interaction that it provides as well as the options it allows us for sharing and embedding our films. VimeoPro also prioritizes playback quality, if possible, over adjusting quality for bandwidth.

Cons: The only con I have for VimeoPro is related to it's strength of playback quality -- because of this, we sometimes field complaints from people who view our content from areas where they have little or no access to high bandwidth from their ISP...so video content from Vimeo tends to pause more often to catch up to their download speeds.

Overall: We host our weekly podcast content as well as our film team content created in-house using Vimeo Pro and love the quality/features they offer us!

Pros: I started off using Vimeo on their free level, as I was developing my video series and audience. After about six months I decided I was ready to upgrade to their pay service for the extra features they had. The features are there, the speed is there, the quality is good. I enjoy their robust features that I knew I would eventually grow into needing and using, which over the past few months I have. Plus, Vimeo has a good reputation and its name alone lends a good deal of credibility - which I think is well deserved. Well worth the money. (Their pricing is fair and upfront.)

Cons: I found the learning curve somewhat a challenge to find and implement the features thats I needed. I think they assume a bit too much of the end user of how their system works. Some features seem a bit out of place and took some clicking around to find. My focus is on making videos and publishing them, some of the technical back end features were difficult to find. A lot of hunting around to find a specific setting or feature. It's not as straight forward as I thought it would be - but this can be a down side to an otherwise feature-rich and robust software package.

Overall: Was publishing on demand videos and short series. I eventually wanted to use some of the more advanced features not offered in the free usage. It was good to be able to scale up and grow into the features as I needed them, as things grew for me.

Pros: Vimeo's privacy settings allow us to keep our videos private and safe from people downloading them in our paid courses - whereas with YouTube - people can steal or easily download your videos. It's cheap and easy to use - very nice!

Cons: Very minor... but it took a while to learn how to use the settings to keep our videos secure.

Overall: We offer learning courses for people wanting to learn SEO (search engine optimization) or how to make money online and we put those courses (mainly video instruction) into forums or maybe places on our website. If you are not careful, people can pay the first month for your course and then quickly download all of your videos so they can watch them after they cancel your course - and that hurts your business. Vimeo allows us privacy settings where it is virtually impossible for the student to download the private instructional video from the back end of our courses - thus, they are forced to stay in the course longer while paying us a monthly fee to learn the material. YouTube would not allow that to happen - their settings are too loose... and Wistia is way too expensive. Vimeo has been great from the beginning!

Pros: Now, you can share videos with multiple reviewers who can click and comment as the video plays. All the comments show up in chronological order on the right side. Great for logging, editing, graphic additions, and captions.

Cons: All of the 'complaints' I had last year have been remedied with user interface updates. I'm completely happy with this product.

Overall: I capture lots of meetings on video so that others on my team can see what they missed, do transcriptions, find key turns of phrase, and collect clips for client deliverables. We use it religiously (weekly). Vimeo fits into our workflow easily and makes us look great to our clients (because we can keep just their content in just their album).

Pros: A very complete platform to manage, edit and publish the videos dedicated to share the projects of the company, it is very interesting the methods to share the videos, its quality is simply amazing and the tasks of post production and editing are carried out in a very simple way , the reproduction runs smoothly, it is simply designed and thought for professional videos.

Cons: I think it performs very well, you can make some improvements to deepen the scope of customization tools and post production to have an even more professional result.

Overall: From the introduction to the platform to the administration of videos and content is very efficient, comfortable and easy to implement within any company and organization, its statistics service helps a lot in reading and analyzing the result of the graphic content generated.

Unlike YouTube, Vimeo lets you replace/update your video while maintaining your view count and comments, which makes it great for things like video reels and corporate video. I also think the video quality on Vimeo greatly surpasses the codec used for YouTube uploads.

Cons: The ONE area where YouTube surpasses Vimeo is storage space. While YouTube allows a virtually unlimited amount of uploads, the pricing on Vimeo depends on how much you'd like to upload. I think it is worth it, but some users might not like having to pay for the ability to upload more video.

Pros: There's no other way to go than Vimeo. It's high quality, has a clean & user-friendly design, affordable, gives you great analytics, several great & easy options for hosting your videos on your website, and even allows you to replace the video file if you've made an edit after you've already published. Vimeo Pro has been a huge catalyst in launching my own film business and allows me to distribute and host films easily & beautifully.

Cons: There aren't any standout cons for me. The only hardship is that while the value for the annual fee is great, it is a bit costly for a freelancer on a budget.

Pros: I really like that Vimeo enables you with a ton of options when uploading a video and choosing to share a video. If you only want one person to be able to view something for a week, and then a separate person to be able to view that same video for a month, you can allow that.

Other highlights include the ease of downloading videos.

Cons: This is not a true con but just an observation: I think of Vimeo as a more professional version of YouTube, and while I prefer YouTube for personal life, I always use Vimeo for work/school. You could get by with probably just using Vimeo's free version as well as YouTube as well.

Pros: I love how Vimeo Pro provides thorough options for video hosting, including privacy and screen presentation.

Cons: Sometimes it takes a while to upload certain videos. This isn't necessarily a knock on Vimeo Pro, but probably more related to my computer at times.

Overall: We upload videos for our organization at least weekly. Some videos have very serious content, others are light-hearted and others are aimed at a certain demographic (i.e. - attendees, members, etc.). Vimeo Pro allows us to cater to our changing audiences by password-protecting certain videos, changing the still-image represented and embedding on our website with a very clear presentation. We love it!

Pros: I love how much space I'm allotted on a weekly basis with my pro membership. It is incredibly worth it and has changed the way I work with clients.

Cons: It's difficult to try and identify cons. I feel like what I get for the annual fee is great, but admittedly, as an independent filmmaker I find it a little pricey. But even that feels like a bit of a stretch with what I've gotten out of using Vimeo Pro.

Overall: I mean it when I say Vimeo Pro has changed my life as a filmmaker. I particularly love the access I get to Vimeo On Demand. I was able to self-distribute my film in a way that just a few years ago would be impossible.

Pros: I have been using Vimeo for years to upload my online course videos. It's so easy to use and I love the quality of the videos. It doesn't look tacky when you embed a video on a course page or website (like YouTube does IMO). I think it offers a much more professional look and feel which I think is important when you are selling a course or product.

Cons: I don't have much that I don't like. I did realize I was overpaying for my plan and was able to downgrade and keep the same amount of videos. So just be careful and make sure you aren't purchasing a plan you really won't need.

Pros: I use Vimeo Pro for my business. I create videos to put into my online courses. Vimeo Pro makes it so easy to upload and share my videos. I can create albums and projects for each of my courses. I can set up different presets for different videos. Presets that say where the video is allowed to be shared or embedded, if I want it to be available to download, and how I want my video to look. It's absolutely amazing and so easy to use!

Cons: It does take a bit to get the hang of it, but once you do it's all downhill!

Pros: If you want to host your video somewhere that's not Youtube, but don't want to pay Wistia (which is so much better but more expensive), Vimeo is a cheap alternative.

Cons: Vimeo customer support is pretty lackluster. Most of my support emails led nowhere. It was like speaking to a customer support staff member on their first day -- just confused and being passed around from one confused person to another. It was pretty frustrating.

Not to mention, basic features (like video speed) is something that's in the higher tiers.

Overall: It's cheap video hosting

Pros: The best bit of the PRO version is the ability to send a review link to your clients. They can then (without having to sign up to Vimeo) play the video and then click and write a comment which is tracked to that timecode. I can then review the video and make all the changes the client has requested. I also use this feature for creating a video and then letting the client mark where they would like text to appear and what they would like to say. I've not yet found another system which does this so professionally that I pay the yearly price just for this feature, the rest is just a bonus (don't tell them that though, they might put the price up)

Pros: What I like most about Vimeo Pro are the advanced features and customizability it offers. Specifically the ability to password protect content was helpful for me in providing exclusive content for my membership site members.

Cons: What I like least about Vimeo Pro is how they do not offer an ad supported version of the player. If that was an option rather than a monthly fee it is something I would explore and it would likely help onboard more new users and customers.

Overall: Overall Vimeo Pro is option and I plan to use them in the future as my business and content base grows.

Pros: We have used Vimeo to host our videos, in addition to sharing them. We love the amount of options to share each of our videos, it is also SUPER safe !! On the other hand, it allows you to know what your customers think of the video without having to be a part or to enter a profile within Vimeo. A tool that has worked extremely well, is very useful and protects your security.

Cons: Prices, for companies that are small or in the process of growth, can be somewhat high. Also, sometimes the upload fails and the video stops working. On the other hand, the appearance has not changed much since we used it, it seems that they stopped working on appearance updates.

Pros: What I like most is the privacy, You can hide the video from Vimeo and only allow embeds in a particular domain. Also, the ability to customize your embeds (remove or add title, profile picture, Vimeo logo, your own logo and customize colors). The multiple upload features are time saving, giving you the possibility to upload multiple videos at once and even via FTP.

Cons: I really like Vimeo Pro . Maybe what I like least is how expensive it can be if you have a lot of videos. Also, socially speaking, YouTube videos position better than Vimeo videos.

Overall: With Vimeo Pro I was able to setup a premium section with videos that can only be seen if you are a Member of the Premium Plan (not free). I setup the videos to not show on Vimeo and only be embedded in a particular domain. All of this without the need to host the videos myself so the videos load fast and with the privacy we need.

Pros: Vimeo makes uploading, storing, and embedding videos super easy. From a digital/web content providing perspective, we use this often to embed videos on web pages/emails and send them out to our congregants. We use it almost weekly to upload message videos from our weekend services and push content out to social media/emails.

Cons: So far we have no negative experience with this software. It's been great in what it offers and we'll continue to use it as long as the pricing stays consistent.

Pros: I like the amount settings I have available to adjust and alter, and that my settings are carried over when I embed a video on my website.

Cons: I would like to be able to export my videos in a podcast/videocast format but am not able to (or I have not been able to figure out how if it is possible).

Overall: We record all of our services and upload them to Vimeo. We embed the current service on our website but for all past services we set up albums that we then link to from our website (so we aren't overloading our website by hosting hundreds of videos).

Pros: You can upload and curate all your video work and it looks amazing. For film snobs this is a must because there's nothing worse than painstakingly working on a project only to have it compressed to death on other video sites.

Cons: There are upload limits depending and it can take a while for uploads to process. Also when sharing links, sometimes Vimeo can get a little buggy with playback and it can load forever without playing.

Overall: It's been used as a simple and effective way to showcase work to clients.

Pros: What I like most about about Vimeo is that I'm able to work from the App and the online version very easily.

Some of the reasons I chose Vimeo over others was 1. because of the price 2. the ease of use 3. The speed of uploads.

I also really like that I can have my logo on my videos for my customers

Cons: What I like least about Viemo. was that you couldnt easely bulk upload. However they have now changed that and I can bulk upload files.

Pros: This platform is almost easier to use than Youtube in some instances. Analytics are powerful, videos are easy to upload and work with, and all features are straight forward. We use Vimeo in conjunction with Youtube as a more private place to house our videos. The ability to download straight out of the platform also makes life easy when you cant find a raw file of a video you've already uploaded.

Cons: You do have to pay to get all of the analytics features and the storage you need. This is not a reason to not consider this platform, its worth the money.
