I access most through the embed player or API as the site experience leaves something to be desired. I've found it to be far more grown up and business focused than YouTube. The Vimeo team needs to continue to push boundaries and grow their product with corporate users in mind. Pros Vimeo has tried to emulate YouTube in a few ways and has fallen short of the cool crowd. What they have built however is a more than decent video hosting platform. They downsample videos far less which means playback is almost nice and clear. Their analytics are easy to use and capture all the right things. Security and permissions are easy to configure. Even their API has some great features in it. Cons There are a few parts and pieces that could be easier to use or just work better. My number one complaint it around end screens or any kind of screen that pops up in the video. You are limited to only capture name and email. While this is far more than YouTube, it could be so much more! Imagine the marketing possibilities if this feature was fleshed out! Also exporting the data from those forms is less than intuitive. It enabled us to help our organization learn for about 5 years now. Pros Vimeo gives insights on engagement and tracks valuable data from viewers such as viewer location. We were able to confirm the engagement of our staff based on how much of each video was watched and from what branch location. Replacing video feature without having a URL change of the video has been a huge plus for updating online training materials. Cons There was a time when the player settings changed the quality of the video based on network speed. I'm not sure if this is ongoing. As admins of a learning management system, we received some complaints about "blurry videos" which was a result of the automatic reduction in the quality. Pros I think I like the most about Vimeo is the fact that I can be anywhere at any time and share things with my staff they need to know all the button with a push of a button. Cons There isn’t anything I can think of that I don’t like about Vimeo. What’s not to love about making your life easier the better at the same time. Giving a private link and allowing clients to make notes at specific times in the video has been hugely helpful. The ability to replace the video while maintaining the same URL is also amazing, and very helpful when managing videos linked to all kinds of sites. All the privacy options makes it easy to manage a huge portfolio. The albums feature makes it easy to organize large video lists into sections. Being able to allow downloads makes this the best platform for working with clients from start to finish. Can't praise Vimeo enough. Lacking an average video player in my opinion. Pros Overall, great software and easy to use. Definitely a better price point than some of the higher-end players like Wista. Cons Not the best customization and not really well organized in my opinion. To be honest, the player itself isn't all that great and doesn't operate all that smoothly compared to Wistia or a new product that I am using, Vadoo. Essential is you need secure hosting for videos Pros Vimeo is a great video hosting platform for the cost. It has rich features inclusion very good embedding tools and stellar security. It provides good analytics on your video usage. All for a really good price. Every uploaded video is split into multiple versions so your user will have the best option displayed based on their device (why download a 1920x1080 video on a phone?). And it is intuitive. I unleashed this to a product development team at a software company and inside of 6 months they added over 500 videos to train customers and embed in our help system and training portal. Pros Wow, there are so many features I use now and if I use them, I like them - I can sell my videos as individual shows, rent them or rent or sell an entire library! I can give free access or discounted access to people. I can set my own prices for everything and limit distribution to places if I choose. I can add end screens, cards and so much more. Cons It is time-consuming to learn your way around the program originally and it gave me a terrible headache learning it. It fulfilled a need, and did it very well at that. Cons The touch-comment option took a lot for our staff to get used to using and ultimately led us away from Vimeo (that and the inability to fast forward/rewind too well). Eventually we may run out of storage, but for now up to 1TB is excellent for what we need. Pros Vimeo is the rock of our video production team as far as delivering files. We love the wide variety of options we have for displaying, sharing, embedding, and downloading files. If you're a serious video producer who delivers a lot of video files, you'll need to be using Vimeo to manage your workflow. An additional favorite feature is the ability to upload directly from Dropbox, which I use all the time. Cons It's hard to find flaws- I would say that sharing collections with "team members" has been a little clunky and inconvenient for us, and I haven't yet found an effective solution for sharing a group of private videos at once instead of copying the individual links. I love the way the compression doesn't mess with quality, and there are no ads or anything getting in the way, which is a problem I ran into with Youtube. Pros The compression is one that doesn't hurt the quality of the film. You have a safe, more professional place to house your videos to share on your website, or with clients. Pros Este software te permite reproducir y subir vídeos en una calidad bastante alta, esto me gusta mucho ya que algunas plataformas te pueden bajar la calidad del video en cambio vimeo la mantiene. Bastante útil si tienes algún curso en linea. La interfaz es cómoda y fácil de utilizar. Cons Que lamentablemente te dan cierta cantidad de GB a a la semana, si sobre pasas estos GB no puedes eliminar el video y recuperar los GB sino cambiar de plan o esperar que pase la semana completa y ten otro GB. Otra cosa que no me ha gustado es que las suscripciones pagas son costosas., ojala bajaran un poco el precio. April 25, 2019 5.0 Vimeo has given my church a wonderful place to host our service videos as well as special video projects. It’s a clean, sleek, and professional environment that doesn’t have the distractions of YouTube. It’s simple to share or embed Vimeo videos, and it works great every time! It just plain works. And their customer support is stellar! I’ve only had to contact them on a couple different occasions in the five years I’ve been using their service, but they were great both times! I would recommend Vimeo to anyone. YouTube is free, but if you have it in the budget, Vimeo is the better option. Pros I love the simplicity that Vimeo has engineered into the backend of their platform while maintaining vast customization options. Everything is easy to find, easy to learn, and easy to customize. It’s very user-intuitive and you can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making it that way. Cons The search feature on the front end has much to be desired. I’ve never really been able to get the hang of it. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but it doesn’t seem nearly as effective as YouTube’s searching, for example. Additionally, we can define exactly who and how we want to share the videos. It's great, easy and safe! Cons It is not necessarily a negative thing, but it is the reason why we do not continue using the service. For large companies it may not be a problem or a representative expense to pay monthly for this service. For smaller companies (like ours) a free (or cheaper) option that basically offers the same options may be more appropriate.
