### "Vimeo is the best platform to publish videos for mature audience"

February 14, 2021

5.0

It provides good security to your videos. You can protect your videos with password, put restrictions on downloading and you can also restrict commenting on your videos well. Apart from all of the superior authoring features, stats that it provides are also amazing.

Pros

Vimeo has mostly grown-up audience and the comments or opinions we get are genuine. It has zero adds because the core of their business isn’t generating revenue through adds. You get uninterrupted video watching experience on Vimeo which is their USP. You would not be bombarded with unwarranted adds every now and then. Videos can be easily downloaded. And when it comes to uploading or publishing videos on Vimeo, you can always make changes and repost any video anytime. And the best thing is that you will still have the access to all statistics and comments etc even if you have made changes to any of your published videos. Vimeo would also not put your videos out of action.

Cons

Apart from not having huge audience like alternatives have, it is way better in all aspects.

### "The Champaign of Video Sharing Sites"

August 19, 2019

5.0

When I was in college, this was seen as the professional and artistic version of video sharing. Youtube was seeing as juvenile and a place for vlogs and stuff like that. That was a bit more than ten years ago and Vimeo has less artsy stuff now and more paid streaming features, like feature films and pay-for-channels and Youtube has a lot more artistic videos but it's a mess to dig through. If you are attracted to Vimeo, you are probably in the right place. I use both Youtube and Vimeo for my short, animated films but I also use both services for tutorials, Tedtalks and art films, particularly Vimeo. Even to this day, a lot of indie and very hard to find art films will only be on Vimeo. Laurie Anderson's Heart of a Dog was such and example... now it's on DVD and Blueray, but for a long time if you didn't see it at a limited screening, it was only on Vimeo.

Pros

Lots of high quality features and functionality. Has a very good reputation in the film and arts circle Clean interface and dashboard. Easy to upload videos. Tools to edit videos, including music and transitions. Art focused and supportive of various artistic endeavors. Not as many limitations/restrictions as a platform like Youtube. Somewhat easy to share embedded videos, but not as easy at Youtube.

Cons

Not as popular as Youtube so you might not get as much traffic. I've had issues with embedding videos on some sites. I teach at a university and use academic platforms and sometimes they are not as compatible as Youtube or Daily Motion.

### "Useful platform"

August 13, 2023

5.0

It has been a fairly good video platform for us to upload videos for our customers to see and it has not disappointed us in that matter. However, improvements can be made.

Pros

Uploading videos and audio files is easy. We upload all our behind the scenes videos on a daily basis and our customers can find them easily and open it without any issues. Also the videos are ad free so that is a huge plus.

Cons

It has a high pricing range and we cannot stream live so that is a downside for Vimeo.

### "For Ad-Free Video Publishing, Live Webinar (Streaming)....Vimeo"

October 9, 2019

5.0

Used this tool to edit my and published my videos on the platform and shared private access to those that purchased our video training and its very effective with no access to download. Unlike YouTube that IDM can work with.

Pros

Vimeo is one of its kind in Video Publishing. With vimeo Pro, you can take advantage of as much as 20GB per week to store all your videos files and share access on the internet with ads free. This is best for video courses, video adverts on a website, etc with an adequate bandwidth.

Cons

I should have said, for fun purposes, I would have loved to monetize my videos, but no YouTube is there. Aside from that, it's cool with video tools inclusive.

### "A Solid Platform for Hosting Videos for Different Purposes"

April 29, 2021

5.0

I have used Vimeo Pro for a few years and have been more than satisfied with it. I have used it to host different types of videos: video lessons to be embedded into online course portals, private videos I only wanted to share with a specific client, and sessions of a virtual summit, just to mention a few.

Pros

In addition to the good price-quality rate, I really like Vimeo's ease of use. You can simply drag and drop a video to start the upload process. Next, you can do a lot with just a few clicks: set the privacy level for the embedding of the video, choose a thumbnail, change the color of the play button and other buttons, and much more. I really like the fact that, depending on the privacy setting you pick when it comes to embedding a video, you can decide not to make it embeddable anywhere or to have it embedded only on a particular domain and nowhere else.

Cons

The Vimeo Pro plan I used didn't have the Call-to-Action feature which, in my opinion, would have made sense to include in the membership at that price point.

### "The only way to easily store and share video"

April 16, 2021

5.0

We are solving our need to showcase material for clients without having to be the one making initial contact. Scaling our company involves more client facing interaction. Vimeo allows us to trust those more fully.

Pros

the ability to showcase work for clients in a catered and personalized way. We trust every interactions we have with clients when they view our profile because it looks exactly as we would present it ourselves.

Cons

I truly have not found much that I don't like about Vimeo. I've seen complaints about it not having enough editing software, but this is not built to be a editing software. If you have accurate expectations, this will be perfect for you!

### "Visual Content's Potential Unlocked"

May 29, 2023

5.0

Pros

Visual content's whole potential has been unleashed by Vimeo, which gives creators the tools they need to present their work with unmatched expertise and originality. Vimeo offers a platform where artists, filmmakers, and content producers may flourish because to its rich features and user-friendly layout. With features like customisable branding options and high-definition video playback, Vimeo makes sure that visual storytelling is prioritised. The platform's collaboration tools make it easy for team members to give and receive feedback, encouraging a collaborative atmosphere for creative endeavours. Vimeo gives creators the tools they need to analyse audience interaction and make wise decisions about how to improve their visual content. The platform of choice for realising the full potential of creating visual content is Vimeo.

Cons

offers many pricing tiers, with some of the most sophisticated features and functionalities only being available in more expensive plans.

### "Video hosting done right"

December 6, 2022

4.0

Pros

I needed a way to restrict where my videos could be embedded. Vimeo is one of the few platforms that will actually do this by domain or hostname.

Cons

I wish livestreaming options were included at base levels. The livestream options make it too cost-ineffective compared to other platforms.

As a teacher, I needed a way to restrict where my videos could be embedded. I only wanted them embedded in our LMS system. I did not want them publicly available for people to stumble upon on youtube or shared once they had the link. Vimeo allows for locking down distribution to my proprietary content to specific domains.

### "Building trust with our clients"

September 22, 2022

5.0

Overall we are satisfied with using Vimeo Pro to promote our training videos to share with other professionals. It also helps create an emotional connection with our patients by allowing us to share information and exercises to help in their healing process.

Pros

This software is quite easy to use once you get used to how it works. We feel that it helps us tell our story, showcases our values and builds trust with our target audience and convinces them that our business is worth their time.

Cons

There is a bit of a delay with responses when communicating live with others. It can be difficult to focus on the answers and not get distracted with the delays. Perhaps this will be improved in the near future.

### "Flawless and customizable video hosting, never any ads"

November 9, 2020

5.0

We host training and promotional videos on several web sites. In most cases, you only need the video URL to embed the video. Some CMS require an embed code, which Vimeo makes available. If there are problems with the video, it is literally never on Vimeo's side, it's always the CMS or website.

Pros

Vimeo allows you to customize the player any way you want. We have three different standard settings, with and without our logo, with and without play bar, etc. We have over 300 videos hosted. Vimeo charges by the month, not by storage or download bandwidth. Most of our videos are hidden and inaccessible to the public.

Cons

None. It's kind of funny when people complain about YouTube, etc. All the problems go away when you start using Vimeo.

### "The best hosting platform for big websites!"

April 14, 2022

5.0

Pros

Our website gets thousands of hits every day. Vimeo Pro offers a full suite of tools for businesses to host videos and distribute them very easily. Their widget is very flexible and we were able to absolutely transform the look and feel of the website through Vimeo.

Cons

The Vimeo video widget is not responsive (something similar to a CSS cover, for example), so we had to really play around with the CSS to make it work.

### "Great choice for video hosting"

August 28, 2022

5.0

I was able to quickly get some videos uploaded and embed them. I like the way Vimeo handles streaming the videos and being able to adjust video quality.

Pros

I've really liked how easy it was to upload videos and embed them in websites. It's great being able to turn off branding and UI buttons for a cleanly embedded video.

Cons

The price does seem a little steep going from free hosting to $20/month.

Reason for choosing Vimeo

As a web designer, Video Pro offered great ease of use, customizability, and is worth the time saved over self hosting videos.

### "Great Video Hosting Site"

September 30, 2022

5.0

Very positive. Vimeo is a very user-friendly website that makes it easy to upload and keep up with your high-quality videos, whether for marketing purposes or just for videos you need to keep organized.

Pros

Vimeo makes it easy to upload and edit your videos. You can also upload in high quality and Vimeo always delivers with retaining the quality during streaming.

Cons

I hate that YouTube is so much more accessible and is used more frequently than Vimeo. Regardless, Vimeo is still my favorite place to edit my videos and I can always rely on the quality of the videos.

### "the best place to find quality videos"

August 28, 2023

It is not as famous as other video storage portals, which makes it better, since it has a community focused on quality both at an aesthetic level and at a recording level.

Pros

I like it because it is the only video portal where you can find really good and quality videos.

Cons

They should put a little more focus on the search filter and on the words in order to obtain better search results.

### "Vimeo Pro, puts YouTube to shame. "

December 11, 2018

5.0

Vimeo Pro is our most valuable tool. We use it for public posting, but the private review features and file delivery aspects are the real gem of the service.

Pros

This service is incredibly beneficial towards the work that our team produces. It is a professional person's YouTube, but on steroids. The review tool is an incredible feature that has helped us work through edit revisions in a streamlined and transparent way, ultimately minimizing the amount of unnecessary work we used to waste time doing.

Cons

It's something that you have to budget in appropriately, but the cost is worth the value.

### "the best place to find quality videos"

July 24, 2023

Vimeo is much more than a place to watch videos, it has more and more utilities such as online chats or webinars, but for me it is a reference place in terms of high quality videos in all aspects.

Pros

Vimeo seems to me a wonderful place for video storage, on a personal level I use it a lot to find high quality and reference videos.

Cons

For me there is nothing negative about Vimeo, on the contrary, I see it as an easy, simple, intuitive and reliable place.

### "Powerful Video Hosting Tool for Professionals"

July 31, 2019

5.0

Pros

One might wonder what the benefit of using Vimeo is over another video hosting platform. Vimeo has the best encoding quality for both video and sound, resulting in the clearest hosted product. This extra quality is very important if you aren't happy with the compression other platforms will use, such as if you're hosting a cinematography or color grading reel and want to show off the best representation of your work. Vimeo also allows you to embed these high quality videos on websites or vlogs for viewing, meaning that you can use Vimeo to host and your own platform to serve your content.

Cons

Popularity and support of the Vimeo platform is not as widespread or robust compared to certain competitors. Processing time for videos can also take a while after upload. There is also a restriction on how much you can upload in total or per week, depending on your subscription plan.

### "High quality video uploading, plus more features you may not expect. "

June 5, 2019

5.0

As a creative, I want to like Vimeo Pro. Heck! I used to love it. But love costs. But if I want to take advantage of more quality uploads and personalized support, this is my playground. If I want something quick and dirty there are other places I can go.

Pros

Vimeo's native video quality for its uploads are very high, which is great for content creators. With Pro subscription you get, secure sharing, advanced stats, video showcase, multi platform publishing, and more. There are multiple tier where you get even more features like livestreaming and VIP support.

Cons

You get what you pay for. The Vimeo priced model has jumped significantly over the last few years. Though it has dramatically increased its efforts to bring creative teams together, and smush content creators and their audiences into interactive digital play spaces, for someone new to the game the price may be a little high in comparison to other platforms (HI YOUTUBE!).

### "Makes content creation so easy!"

March 10, 2023

5.0

I cannot complain. Vimeo makes video-making very easy. I can create a video from start to finish in just 10 minutes. This is perfect because it means I can always make time for content creation even on my busiest days.

Pros

I love all the amazing templates and the fact that I can drag and drop my own media files to customize my videos. As someone who isn't great at video editing, Vimeo has fulfilled all my business needs.

Cons

It lacks text-to-video functionality like some of its competitors, which saves a lot of time and streamlines the content creation process even further.

### "First Class Video Hosting"

September 29, 2020

5.0

While Vimeo costs a bit of money, the handling on the backend as well as the viewer experience are better than they are with their free alternatives. We also have two youtube channels for public content, but we clearly choose vimeo for the educational content we show our paying clients. Until a few months ago there was a native video uploader for Mac OS. That worked well, but stopped working after Apple made tweaks to MacOS. Now we have to upload via the vimeo web interface. It's a pity that the uploader broke away, but the web interface is fine, too.

Pros

Vimeo hosts hundreds of our online education videos reliably. The performance and quality for the video viewers is excellent.

Cons

They have a clause against adult content in their ToS. Being a German company, we are open to show scenes in videos, that might be classified by a US company as adult content, while in Germany there would be no question about the same scene being safe for work. But so far this has never been an issue for us.

June 7, 2024

4.0

Pros

One thing I really like about Vimeo is how easy it is to upload something to Vimeo and how quickly it is. If I try to upload to Vimeo, it's much faster than YouTube.

Cons

One thing I found pretty recently is that if you want to put a video in a certain folder whilst you're uploading a video, it leads to an error and prompts to restart the video uploading process.

### "Solid Option for the Cost"

April 16, 2019

4.0

Been using Vimeo in professional and personal environments for a long time, and it's definitely the best option in class that I've had the chance to use.

Pros

Pro is a really great option for small groups and individual professionals that need to upload, house, and share their media. Provided you keep your content to 20GB or less weekly, it's a very cost effective solution! Probably best suited to those creating several short HD videos weekly, or those creating a couple HD videos weekly.

Cons

With the 20GB weekly cap, you need to be aware of the quality of video you're capturing and then the output. Our org had to upgrade to another plan based on upgrades to our video equipment to film everything in 4k, and also based on the number of larger videos we're launching each week to a large org. Honestly, the only other reason to upgrade to a higher tier plan are the other features and livestreaming if that becomes a need.
