### "My Go-To for Video Hosting and Sharing"

July 23, 2019

5.0

We Vimeo to preview video projects with our clients, as well as sharing finished projects through our company Vimeo profile.

Pros

Vimeo Pro is a godsend for anyone in video production, such as myself. Unlike YouTube, Vimeo allows you to post videos in their original quality without any of the weird codecs/converting that YouTube applies to your content. I also love the fact that you can allow downloads from the video page, and the ability to upload a replacement video while retaining your likes and comments is by far my favorite feature.

Cons

My only complaint is the pricing. While there are multiple tiers, I wish that some of the lower priced options allowed you to upload a larger amount of content. I've also had times where the Vimeo servers don't respond and result in weird errors (like multiple uploads of the same video), but these have been very infrequent lately.

### "Decent video hosting with some minor caveats"

July 16, 2019

4.0

Pros

Vimeo's main competitors like Wistia cost so much more and for small businesses, most can't afford Wistia. Vimeo has been a fine option for video hosting, good value for money.

Cons

We have clients from all over the world and we found out later on that some clients couldn't view the video's hosted on Vimeo. We found out that Vimeo is banned in some countries, while that's not really their fault per se, but it is a pain in the butt as we didn't really have alternative options for video hosting for those countries.

Alternatives considered

[Wistia](https://www.capterra.com/p/82313/Wistia/)

Switched from

[Amazon S3](https://www.capterra.com/p/174285/Amazon-S3/)

We realised Amazon S3 wasn't optimized for delivering video content (yes, we could use their Elastic cloud front but we preferred going with a provider that specialised in video and handled all the video conversion elements which Amazon doesn't handle).

### "This Vimeo Pro platform is valuable, it does good things!"

July 18, 2019

5.0

We wrote a whole website around it at one point, we are in the video production business and we wanted our videos "play everywhere" with hassle or bandwidth limits. We even had a Christmas video go viral. Vimeo handled our swelling viewership like a champ with no extra fees or charges of any kind. We got tens of thousands of views.

Pros

This video platform is valuable, it does good things. At first, I was a little put off and I asked myself why can't I just host these video on Youtube for free? Why should I pay for this service every month. Vimeo does some pretty great things, first and foremost, Vimeo is discreet, it doesn't add commercials before OR after your videos. You videos get full attention and you control what the end user sees. This is perfect for hosting videos on a corporate website or small Wordpress site. You can even customize how the player looks and where the videos are allowed to play. Other paid sites cost much more for the same features.

Cons

The internal user interface can be clunky at times, you can sometimes get lost in there. But in general, it works well and allows you to save presets on some things that make consistency easier. i.e every video has the same qualities.

Switched from

[JW Player](https://www.capterra.com/p/154911/JW-Player/)

JW Player was not able to provide a path moving forward that was stable or consistent either from a platform perspective or a billing perspective. We found Vimeo Pro to be much more mature in these areas.

### "The Video Uploading Website That We All Deserve"

December 20, 2020

5.0

Because it is a less popular platform for sharing videos, this also helps certain videos not get taken down. Overall, I really enjoy this wonderful alternative and would recommend it to everyone, especially now that Youtube is changing its policies for the worse.

Pros

This is one of the greatest contenders against Youtube out there, and for a very good reason. I've once uploaded an old song on Vimeo many years back and it's still there, without being copyright claimed or taken down for another frustrating reason. You basically have all the tools you need to upload a video and manage it however you like, without having to wage ceaseless claim battles against an avaricious corporation which Youtube has, sadly, become.

Cons

While I haven't used it as frequently as I have Youtube, there are no problems that I've so far encountered, regarding copyright claims and such things, and other functionalities are working perfectly.

### "If you want professional hosting for your videos, you find it in Vimeo!"

February 19, 2020

5.0

Vimeo allows us to store our videos without any fear of losing access to them and provides us with an easy ability to share them. With plenty of upload capacity each week, we have never exhausted our data.

Pros

Vimeo is the place to go for hosting your professional videos. Why? I love the ability to I have to completely customize how my videos are used on the web. From private to public, to embedding and having unlimited ability to live stream, to multiple users and plenty of storage to upload every week, Vimeo Premium is great! We use this service every week as an essential to our church's media presence online. They are so much more than just hosting to us. They help our workflow and sharing ability across all platforms.

Cons

Vimeo Premium costs $75/month. There are two cheaper packages that may suit your needs. However, you do have to be able to justify the cost.

### "One Stop Video Tool"

I was not a user of Vimeo until I discovered it can do so many things! I am greatly satisfied with the video options and tools available here.

Pros

What I like most about Vimeo is the different ways I can use it for - editing, sharing, recording my screen and going live! There's just so many things to do in one place!

Cons

There's nothing I find unlikeable in this software yet. It's really amazing!

### "Our go-to source for online hosting/sharing of our film content. "

April 15, 2019

5.0

We host our weekly podcast content as well as our film team content created in-house using Vimeo Pro and love the quality/features they offer us!

Pros

Vimeo pro offers a generous weekly upload capacity and some nice features built in to help us organize our films. We like the film community aspect of Vimeo Pro and online interaction that it provides as well as the options it allows us for sharing and embedding our films. VimeoPro also prioritizes playback quality, if possible, over adjusting quality for bandwidth.

Cons

The only con I have for VimeoPro is related to it's strength of playback quality -- because of this, we sometimes field complaints from people who view our content from areas where they have little or no access to high bandwidth from their ISP...so video content from Vimeo tends to pause more often to catch up to their download speeds.

### "This Is Like YouTubes Twin Sister!"

March 25, 2020

5.0

Love it! Privacy and storage isn't a big issue for me, but it can for others. When you go on YouTube you can encounter really mean people, here in Vimeo, its so great and positive, very rarely you encounter bullies or fresh people! Supportive community and great place if you don't like being judged because its lower population than YouTube! People think of it as a bad thing but, I personality think its AMAZING! Yeah you may not get a lot of views but you get more supporters than haters! You can make the most simplest video and you will get supporters no matter what! At lest for me! You may have limited storage but at least you get really nice people!

Pros

I love this app! I love how you can download videos and save them encase you loose your video or want it back later. Great sores like YouTube, Little safer community than YouTube, Small population but friendly kind people and supporters. Very updated and you can tell it is! Less rude people and more professional people who support you and help you. Bully free and little more flexible with using music.

Cons

Unlike YouTube, you have limited space and you have to pay monthly to get a bigger GB in your profile space. Its playing too many of the same 4 ads. More cons is that you need to pay for privacy, people can just download your video unless you play the program not to allow it. So anyone can just download your video and use it.

### "The ultimate video platform for businesses"

August 30, 2023

Pros

Easy editing, content management, and lots of incredible options that I didn't know we needed. Fantastic platform, with fantastic support. It is definitely a must-have if you have a video library and want to showcase it, whether in social media, a website or other platforms, it works everywhere.

Cons

If you are used to the YouTube platform there's a bit of learning to be done, but it is worth it

### "This replaced my in-house software for videos"

March 18, 2022

Very good - I needed video hosting and this really fit the bill for me. I use it for all my membership site videos.

Pros

I like how the videos are viewable on every platform. I need that capability for the videos I post and I don't want to put them on YouTube.

Cons

I'd like to have a bit more intuitive displays on the video organization and management. That's the only real knock on this, but it's not a big deal to me.

With Vimeo, we got an easy way to show our videos online without burdening our own website.

Pros

### "Fast, robust and solid."

August 20, 2022

5.0

Great! No complains. I use it often on my website.

Pros

I really like that it's not just a video hosting platform, it's a community too with professional/art-orientated creators. Videos are always delivered fast, high quality, ad-free and without lag in a solid player. It's not clunky, it's well-thought out and very well branded. I also really liked the captioning/subtitle features and the numerous types of privacy you can layer onto the videos.

Cons

Nothing I didn't like about Vimeo. It's feature-rich and has a solid player with a good user interface.

### "The Pros and Cons of Hosting Videos on Vimeo"

September 27, 2023

5.0

Vimeo is an excellent choice for content creators and professionals who prioritize video quality and control over their content.

Pros

Unlike some other video-sharing platforms, Vimeo's paid plans offer an ad-free viewing experience for the users.

Cons

Vimeo has a smaller user base compared to platforms like Youtube, which may limit your video's reach if someone looking for maximum exposure.

### "More Control Than YouTube "

September 22, 2019

5.0

I have used it for year for me and my clients and I love it. Unlike Youtube, you van control the "End Screen" on each video and make it blank or customize it.

Pros

The best part about this is you get way more control over how your video is displayed when embedding it on a page. You can cut out all the junk around the video like the play bar and tite and place a clean looking video on a page on your site or landing page.

Cons

Some on-site editing options would be nice.

Sad about what it's become.

Pros

Cons

truly appreciate utilizing Vimeo. It's so natural to transfer and share recordings, and the point of interaction is truly spotless and easy to explore. I love that they support top quality and 4K video playback, which is perfect for exhibiting my work. The people group on Vimeo is likewise astounding, with an emphasis on innovativeness and imaginative articulation. Generally, Vimeo gives a first rate video-sharing experience that is ideal for the two makers and watchers like me.

Pros

Like Vimeo for its high-quality video hosting and sharing capabilities, as well as its focus on creativity and artistic expression. You can achieve your goals in video content creations Gives a very good exposure of your contents

### "I've used Vimeo Pro as a video reviewing program while working in advertising and tech."

April 30, 2018

5.0

Pros

What I like best about Vimeo Pro are the strong control / privacy features and the video review features. Being able to control password protection, link expirations and video downloadability add so much relief when sharing and reviewing sensitive video content. The content is so secure and early versions of videos that aren't final yet don't have to be downloaded by people that shouldn't be given access to download them. I've worked in advertising and tech and I'd much rather share early rounds of video content via Vimeo Pro vs. WeTransfer or another video sending / sharing program since I can protect against their ability to download the file and accidentally use it later or confuse it for a final. So, quality control and version control are made easier simply by having the program be protected, filterable and secured. Version control is made even clearer via video review pages where you can compare video versions and detail differences among videos and even add timestamped notes right within these videos to detail these said differences. For working in video production, Vimeo Pro is top notch and really helps streamline, clarify and consolidate videos in development.

Cons

This isn't necessarily something I dislike but just a truth to share after videos are final my teams and I have always moved our videos to YouTube and social media vs. hosting them on Vimeo since YouTube is more universally used. My teams have known you can link Vimeo videos to YouTube, etc. and even initiate paid advertising through the Vimeo portal but for videos on YouTube and other channels but that always seemed like too much work / not worth it when you can go handle business with YouTube directly.
