My niece has been nagging me to show her how to get into video editing for her YouTube channel and she feels as though this is the software that she is most comfortable with. Pros I can edit videos in 3D which brings a new dynamic to your project if you're not used to that. I also found the video stabilization function to be of utmost importance and I'm sure a lot of you aspiring video editors out there will feel the same way too. Cons The green screen effect was not as easy to find as I would have wanted it to be. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know the software was capable of that until I stumbled upon it while randomly pressing buttons. So all in all I would like for that feature to be made obvious and easier to set up. It is price quite reasonably. I haven't had any security issues with any NCH products and I have quite a few. Speed is great no prob Pros I didnt' really know about video editing when I started. It's very friendly whether you just beginning or know what you're doing. I liked being able to clip sections of your out to mix with something else. I had an issue when I bought a new pc and had lost my back up they were able to get me going again at no additional cost. With videopad I don't think I have an avatar. Cons audio tracks, you can see the video, an the main one in combine with audio. but if your are adding music or any other type of audio I thought that was hard to see, but my eyes are the greatest anyway. all in all I still enjoy and use video pad for my projects. Simple tasks are difficult and time consuming. Pros The program has a lot of potential for being a somewhat sophisticated video editing program. Cons It's incredibly un-user friendly. I am an experienced editor used to working on Premiere Pro, which is very easy. Even just trying to group select clips to move them is a major challenge and of course should be easy peesy. Because these simple tasks are so difficult, it makes the work take much, much longer than it should. I wouldn't pay for a program like this. I will keep recommending it even when asleep. Pros There is a lot good to say about VideoPad. I cannot count how many times I have recommended it for various reasons. It is simple, intuitive, easy to instal and not PC resource hungry. I could write endlessly about its UI, Effects, integration with NCH suite softwares such as WavePad, MixPad and so on. However, my most used feature has been SUBTITLES. VideoPad makes importing, editing and exporting subtitles very easy. It supports the SSA, SRT and VVT files. I have always been able to create new subtitles for translation purposes very easily. The subtitles can be adjusted for specific durations, background and text fonts. Each subtitle can be edited and one can playback and check how they appear till happy with the result. Cons The subtitles auto generate is wanting. It often generates a lot of errors which are not worth spending time to correct and it is better to just create a new file from scratch. I think the problem is the Microsoft speech recognizer. March 23, 2020 3.0 This app was helpful for YouTube videos until I had issues with rendering the video. Back when I used it it reminded me of early 2000's movie makers. Not bad over all but just didn't work out for me. Pros I really enjoyed this app! Easy to use, Free no water marks, easy to use. When you have the feature to render it comes out in ok quality. I love the most that its free and easy to use. I'm not the hugest fan of this app but I would recommend it for school projects or quick slide shows. The app si very useful for starters. Cons The program doesn't render videos after a while, less features than I hoped to have like in the transition effects. NA Entertainment Used the software for: 2+ years ### "NCH VideoPad review" September 6, 2025 5.0 Very pleased and it has, and does, give me hours of creative fun, I even use it with my video AI software because of its ease of use and editing capability which is simpler than the modern AI package I use. Pros Once I got used to the layout, it is very easy to use and you can make some impressive videos. I bought the lifetime package about ten plus years ago and use it all the time. its easy to import and export your videos or project and the special effects are very effective and cinematic style professional looking to change scenes enhancing the viewers experience. It's easy to cut and chop frames down to the millisecond for precision cutting and pasting or editing the video in general. Text writing and text visual effects are also very good and just give your video that notch of a higher standard. The audio effects are good for volume levels etc. but I tend to use NCH AudioPad to mix and manipulate my sounds then import it into VideoPad, as expected they complement etc. other. Pre-recorded sound effects and sounds, music etc. are royalty free that can also be imported into VideoPad as part of the package. I also like that, when I got it, you download the programme onto your computer rather than having to go on line to use it (this does not apply to the sound library which you do need to download at a time. Very good value for money. Cons Only have a few problems with VideoPad was the reverse video clip facility which didn't work until you exported your video file so I didn't think it was working but I used this feature recently and it did work within the VideoPad review. The sound library could be more extensive and the music clips, in particular could be longer. I didn't like it that when a new version was released because of bug fixes etc., you had to buy the whole "lifetime" package price again rather than just a premium to fix the bugs. Cons The lag can be difficult, and there are limited functions for more fine-tuning. It does not boast an extensive array of animations, and some are bit cheesy. It's my go-to workhorse, reliable and friendly. Pros Very easy to use, friendly interface, without unnecessary clutter. Easy to magnify and navigate, expecially when cutting/pasting/merging bits and pieces of video and audio. A nice feature in audio is the fade in/fade out that really helps smoothing out the sound and avoiding "jumps" and dips in the sound after cutting. I also love the variety of video formats and sizes, including the Youtube format I can export into. A good bunch of professional templates for intros, outros and titles too. Cons Whilst very easy to use once you have given it a bit of patience and time (like with anything, really!), I feel that some features might be improved a bit. For instance, I would like to see more options for transitions and video effects.But that's just personal preference; like I mentioned earlier, for all the bells and whistles Premiere Pro is the go-to partner. June 7, 2022 5.0 It is very simple and loaded with a lot of good features and a great video creation and editing tool at any skill level Pros One does not need a lot of time to get started with VideoPad. Primarily, this software is presented with proof as a very easy and well-organized software for both creating and editing videos. From the start, importing images, videos and texts is easy and in an organized manner into respective bins. Mostly I am working with VideoPad for YouTube Videos and one of its best features is the ability to clip preview the audio file on its own. With this feature I am able to assign a fade in from the start of the audio file to the cursor position or from the cursor position to the end of the file for a fade out. Editing The audio file is very intuitive as well. I often will unlink the file from the video, save it as a separate file and edit it in WavePad and finally bring it back to VideoPad and replace the original file. Cons I would have liked VideoPad to have a scrubbing feature on the preview as this would help dial specific positions both for audio and video editing. Review Source WA William A. I also like how easy it is to pull clips from larger videos. I use it weekly to pull clips from long-form videos to create more bite-sized content for use on social. It was also very easy to train other users to do the same task. Cons The interface is a little basic looking. It reminds me of the old winamp. The features and functionality are huge, but the UI skin looks dated. This doesn't really bother me though, as I don't need shiny distractions when I'm trying to get some basic tasks done! So, my overall experience with VideoPad is very good. Pros I am using VideoPad for a long time and I totally enjoy it when I work with it. Video editing became an interesting job for me. Because this tool allows you to choose a different video format. So that you can make the perfect videos for YouTube which increases the possibility of more view of the video. I would say this is a great advantage of using this tool. To edit 360 videos with VideoPad is super easy. I like to be creative with my videos and export those in a different format is a great option for me. Cons I wish if they could have more features and functions. Even the free trial for noncommercial purposes gave me a lot of options and was not too hard to use. Cons My only problem with software like this is that when you do not know all of the more in-depth features, you can't use the software to the best of its capabilities. If you spend time with it, you can definitely use all of the more advanced features, but otherwise, it probably will be hard for anyone to just pick up and use.
