### "Nextech — overpriced and overcomplicated"

November 21, 2025

1.0

Negative. We've been users for 4+ years and, while we continue to use it, we're actively looking to switch to a more modern, more affordable system.

Pros

Robust functionality for the most part. Solid reporting capabilities. Good multi-provider schedule management. Excellent paid consulting support, but expensive (like everything else in Nextech) at $250-$300/hour.

Cons

Heavily overpriced. Everything's an add-on, with additional fees. Arcane billing with almost all services/licenses on a one-year evergreen contract with staggered rollover dates to add to the confusion. Zero flexibility and zero concessions in the event of a dispute. Shoddy customer service. "Client Success" Managers and VP are anything but. Their sole function is to extract as much money as possible from clients. Clients are treated with disdain. Overcomplicated. It's a legacy software dinosaur that requires constant maintenance and tweaking to run optimally. If I didn't have a provider on staff who enjoyed tinkering with the system after-hours, it would be unsustainable and I would have ditched it long ago.

### "The NexTech Experience!"

March 14, 2025

5.0

I would give it an 8 out of 10. There are many features I am a fan of and a couple as the appointment issue I think could be resolved very easily.

Pros

I love how you can link your Lab company to your EHR and get patients immediate results without having to call repeated times for results to be faxed over.

Cons

Appointment rescheduling. You have to copy and paste to do this and then cancel preexisting appointment. There are too many steps. A right click and reschedule appointment would be much easier in a fast paste Dr office.

### "Next tech kind of sucks"

March 4, 2025

At first glance, I was very intimidated by it and didn’t want to use it at all, but after getting used to it, it’s not that horrible

Pros

It’s nice because it gives you a reason to pay extra attention to everything that you put into it

Cons

There is a lot of unnecessary clicking and the appearance is just awful. It looks like the first software that was ever made.

### "DO NOT USE NEXTECH - YOU WILL REGRET IT"

June 4, 2025

1.0

Rude. Unhelpful. Fall of dead ends. Empty promises. We have tried to cancel with Nextech multiple times and they just keep sending invoices.

Pros

None I have nothing nice to say about this company. They are RUDE and VERY UNHELPFUL. I would find another provider with integrity.

Cons

The Contract will automatically renew and even if you are no longer in practice they still want you to pay. They are very hard to work with and all they are interested in is your payment. The system itself is nothing special. It is overpriced and with the amount of EMR’s And PM’s I would advise anyone to look elsewhere. Try Symplast. Patient Now or Mod Med.

Pros

Easy to track inventory and add multiple doctors. Easy to schedule patient appointments. Easy to track reports on the system.

Extremely expensive and you have to build your own templates after paying over 5 thousand thinking it was gonna be customized for us.

### "Nextech is User Friendly"

February 28, 2024

Nextech is a useful tool for our practice. Learning it is a breeze, and user interface is easy to maneuver.

Pros

The program is easy to maneuver compared to other practice management programs that I have used.

Cons

The calendar feature on the scheduling page doesn't always take me to the correct date.

Compulink was not user friendly. It was very confusing to use, and setting it up was time consuming. The training staff often had to troubleshoot the program to get it to work.

### "Experienced User's Perspective - Over 9 years of use"

August 9, 2023

3.0

Pros

NexTech select is relatively easy to use and set up, I was able to set up our system on my own after 2 years of experience with the system. Finding the first available appointment is a quick way to navigate appointments, the forward button on the schedule is a nice addition (allows you to jump forward by days/weeks/months/years).

Cons

The reporting system needs an over haul. It is very basic and requires you to run multiple reports to achieve the analysis you're looking for. We tried the Enterprise reporting and it too did not allow the level of free customization we were hoping for.

Reason for choosing Nextech EHR & PM

Previous history of using the system at another practice, fit our needs for being able to schedule appointments, bill services and products, and track inventory.

### "9 years and running"

August 7, 2023

4.0

They're aware of their impact and honestly try to make a user friendly product that delivers, on time.

Pros

I've used Nextech MDI since I entered the Retina field in 2014. In 9 years, at two different practices, there's a consistency that has been built that once you know the system you're able to use it at any employer. Image integration is fairly simple, and the compass on the side lets you jump ahead to where you're looking to navigate to more quickly than scrolling.

Cons

The cloud. The concept of the cloud is great, but a little Hurricane, or other disruptions and suddenly the cloud is down. I'd love a local server to download the current day charts the night before, any charts that weren't pre-downloaded could be downloaded as needed, then after all the charts are updated, push the updates back to the cloud for long-term. This way as long as there's intRAnet working you still have full access to a patients charts, whereas if intERnet has any issues you're out of luck and scrambling to find a paper chart.

### "Stephenson Eye Associates Loves Nextech"

August 4, 2023

5.0

Overall Experience has been Fantastic!

Pros

We love the User Friendliness of this platform and the easy access help from the service technicians if they cant fix your issue they will find someone who can in a timely manner. Nextech is always up to date on the latest and greatest technologies and make sure that its clients have the access to that information as well.

Cons

Templating for EMNS is not as user friendly to some people who arent tech savy and with every office being so different in their specific needs its sometimes hard to get a template for the office needs that fits perfectly.

### "Expensive Start Up Fee and Monthly fee. Not Ipad/Macbook/Iphone capabilities. "

December 11, 2021

1.0

Cont reading below. \[Sensitive Content \], another trainer, also admitted that you can only view the schedule for that particular, and you cannot view the schedule for the following day. For example, on Monday, I would open up my schedule. If I wanted to see Tuesday or Wednesday, I could not. Moreover, when a client changes their last name due to a marriage or divorce, the software forces us to manually change that client's name on EVERY single visit. For example, in December, client Jones gets married and changes her last name to Smith. In January, we would have to manually type Smith. If we forget to manually change Jones' former name to Smith in February, it would automatically revert back to Jones. These are just a few of the headaches we have to deal with while using the software. This is absolutely ridiculous. This product needs major work, and Nextech's staff needs to stop making misrepresentations. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND STAY AWAY.

Pros

None. Must read below before buying. Despite a heavy start-up fee and monthly fee, the Nextech software does not work "out of the box" as advertised. Nextech has misrepresented their product to me just to get me to sign up. I signed up in December of 2020 and the product still does not work as promised to this day. I had to retain the services of an attorney, and we have been dealing with Nextech for over a month now. Nextech staff and its software overpromises and underdelivers. Their software is NOT conducive for our Aesthetic Medspa use. It is geared towards heavy insurance billling (e.g., ICD 10 codes). However, my business is a cash-based business with high-end clientele. My sales representative, \[Sensitive Content \] did not understand my business, sold me a product by misleading me, and sold me a product that does not fit my needs. \[Sensitive Content \] represented, among other things, that the software is "user-friendly and it will be easy for clients to book on online." He also represented that clients "can book online and on the app." He further represented that the software could be used on "any computer and iPad". He was clearly wrong because there is no app, and the software is created almost entirely for Windows-based devices.

Cons

Cont reading below. \[Sensitive Content \] a trainer for Nextech, admitted that a majority of the "day-to-day" runs better on a Surface tablet or non-Apple devices. \[Sensitive Content \] further admitted that the "software features do not run on iPad"; that features slow down the system making it "inefficient to run on ipad"; and that "there is no app to use." As everyone is aware, a significant amount of the general population use Apple-based devices (e.g., iPad, iPhone and Macbook). My office had to unnecessarily incur additional expenses to purchase six (6) new Surface tablets for each of my staff members and a brand new laptop in order to utilize the software. One would expect, at a minimum, that this software would run on the two major platforms. My office sees approximately 50 clients a day. Of those 50, about 20 are new clients. Needless to say, a significant number of these new clients own Apple-based products. The software forces us to use the Surface tablet to add these new clients. This is entirely burdensome for both my clients and our office, and, ultimately, takes away from the entire Medspa experience. In fact, clients have made comments about this fact on numerous occasions.

### "EHR and PM"

August 8, 2023

5.0

Overall I am satisfied with everything despite above mentioned issues as the good definitely outweighs the bad

Pros

Product was easy to use. The integration process was slightly difficult but made easier by guidance from all the wonderful Nextech employees

Cons

When the PM and EHR side merged it changes things on the EHR side that I was not prepared for, such as losing my patient merge button. Also it was not explained that our last used number in prior PM and ours was abnormally high so now our chart numbers have 9 digits which is not great. The mapping portion of integration should be explained better, I did have a lot of issues with this part and am currently still having problems with the import

Reason for choosing Nextech EHR & PM

It seemed to be the easiest to use on EHR side, and billing department was very unhappy with Advanced MD PM as it did not do everything they were told it would

### "EHR Can be so much more efficient. Cut down on clicks, please, and stop all the scrolling."

August 18, 2023

1.0

I hand over as much as I can to my medical assistant. It isn't perfect, but it saves me a lot of time.

Pros

It intersects with the scheduling software.

Cons

It takes much longer to complete a task than is necessary. The software is rudimentary and needs a dramatic update. The clinician should not have click, scroll, click, scroll. The dictating function is poor. NT does not accept feedback for requests for greater efficiency. THe future will be AI, ChatGPT3 and 4. The time spent on EHR adds zero to the quality of patient care and is merely a tremendous time suck organized around the function of billing. Billing should be done through AI so clinicians can focus on patient care and going home at the end of the day.

Heather, it's disappointing that our software is not performing how you'd anticipated. We are glad to have this feedback, as it offers an opportunity for us to learn and improve. And so you're aware, introducing elements of AI is on our product roadmap for the near future. ### "7 years of Nextech use"

March 17, 2023

5.0

See above. I tell ya, I love Nextech .... when it's set up correctly and it does the work for you... when it's not being utilized correctly and you have a group of non-techy people using it... it's a web of rabbit holes and it's so easy to screw things up in billing.

Pros

It covers all the bases. If there's something we need - Nextech usually can make it happen.

Cons

I used to work for a practice who invested in bringing out Nextech experts on site and trained us all on best practice and cleaned up our system on an annual basis. When I worked there - Nextech ran like a well-oiled machine. It was built out and was SO efficient. Everything was simple and a click. I now work for a smaller practice and we don't even use EMNs to be billed... it's a mess. I'm not tech savvy - I just knew how to USE it efficiently. This new job has been SUCH a major challenge because Nextech is a swamp. I'm frustrated that it takes a lot of time and money to get it "best practice" - when I called about building out billing in EMNS - I was emailed a manual and told that it was more something a consultant would need to help us set up. Ugh. I love Nextech - but unless you have someone on board that knows it/knows the software/understands tech/it ..... what use is it when we barely skim the best features?

Reason for choosing Nextech EHR & PM

We used it previously with other practices.

We are a multi-specialty Ophthalmology practice located in Massachusetts. I spent years researching different electronic health record systems along with one of our senior technicians, and the support of our I.T. person. We decided a web-based EMR would work best for us, as our cloud-based practice management system had saved us a great deal in I.T. related costs and provided us with immediate system updates. It also allowed our doctors to access patient information outside the office, which to them, was very helpful. Of all the web/cloud-based systems out there, the staff and doctors at the MDI booths truly knew their product best. They answered all of my many questions on the spot and/or via email prior to me even leaving the conference. They even had an actual MD giving the demo! That I had never seen before. We purchased IntelleChart last January and went "live" in June. We could have gone "live" sooner but were waiting on our PM system to finish their portion of the HL7 bridge. I also wanted to be sure our technicians had enough chart prepping practice before we brought it into clinic. Our "go-live" went more smoothly than I ever could have imagined. I'd heard so many nightmarish stories about "EMR go-live days" and in the end, we couldn't have been more prepared for ours. The MDI University, knowledgebase conference calls, incredible I.T. walk-thru and set up, made us unbelievably prepared for it. MDI suggested we cut back on the number of patients we were seeing during our "go-live" training and it worked out perfectly. Of the first four doctors who went "live" in June, three of them were seeing ALL patients on MDI within 2-3 weeks. I have only a few doctors who are still seeing some patients on paper and only because they are extremely part-time here, and therefore are taking a little longer to become more comfortable with and efficient on the system. If the technicians had it their way, everyone would be seen on MDI. To this day, we have not reduced the number of patients per session, and certainly won't need to at this point in time. There are many things I could say about IntelleChart and MDI as a company but the most important thing everyone should know about them, is that their customer support is top notch! Other practices on various EMR systems have called me, and when I mention that, they ask if the support is just as good six months down the road. Well, it is! I ask for a new "document type" to be added for example, and most of the time, it's already there in less than an hour. I'm the Administrator and even I can help the technicians populate data from previous exams when we're running behind. The system is so user-friendly; I honestly think it's helpful learning tool for new technicians, as it almost prompts you to ask the appropriate necessary questions. The owner of our practice allowed me to select our EMR system, which meant the pressure was all on me! He could not be happier with it and I can't tell you how pleased I am about that!

### "Best choice we made when switching from paper charts to electronic health record"

May 31, 2022

5.0

Our overall experience with Nextech Intellechart Pro and Nextech Cloud PM has been very positive. Having seen the competitors in our field, we have not regretted our choice one day.

Pros

The software is always evolving and improving to lessen the burden on the doctors and staff.

Cons

When updates are made sometimes it causes other issues in the software that weren't there before the update. That being said they do try and address those issues promptly.

Pros

Cons

Once in a great while we will have internet issues that cause the system to run a bit slower - but it is very infrequent and usually is the fault of our ISP or local bad weather, not a shortcoming of the ICP.

Pros

so easy to learn, and implement every day, in all aspect. Been using this for over 20 years, and love the newest upgrades and products. My favorite was the iPad integration. SERVICE is 10 stars, always available to assist. Love that you get your own representative on your account. You know who to ask for, and they deliver.

Cons

This system as a whole is much easier to adjust, train, and monitor patients better with. I would recommend this to any ophthalmology practice.

Pros

I like how easy it was to implement Nextech, how easy it is to change documents and testing. Seems to help the techs be more compliant with MIIPPs.

Cons

My biggest issue is that we can not personalize or adjust the discussions. So all our instructions on PO have to manually typed in each time or they are incorrect. My other issue is the uploading of imaging.
