Backup is important. Reliable backup that automatically does integrity checks and send notifcations for failures/problems is also great.

Pros

Ease of use and reliability. Easy to setup and supports backing up to a large and growing list if backup mediums. Ready for offsite and cloud backups on Azure, etc.

Cons

The requirement for Windows is unfortunate but does provide for an easy to setup and maintain system.

Peace of mind that my backups and my client's backups are well executed.

Pros

Ease of use of the product, it is not a problem to use it for the first time and figure it out by yourself. Quick and reliable backup Possible to backup locally and externally. Quick support team.

Cons

Limited database and active directory recovery fonctionnality. There is not version of the product that can be used for a physical machine to back it up completely.

### "It's so simple"

The entire package is simple and awesome, simply awesome, especially considering the price point.

Pros

sandbox restores, great backup options, multiple backup destinations, great restore options especially with MS Exchange, low overhead, great use of storage space, a product that's been maturing very well over the past few years.

Cons

Wish it would work on non server OS like Windows 10 Pro.

i use is since many years and it simply works. today the are some other programs, which can do the same, but trust altaro abnd have no need to change.

Pros

a lot of features once running, it works without any problems backup and restore is really working (i did test it) fire & forget very good and fast support (for every question a useful answer)

the price is not very low, but is does a job job

Backup software which does a good job making a backup of the system, upgrades do improve backup times and overal ease of use.

Pros

Ease of use Easy to configure Fast Backup times good monitoring reports

Cons

Backup needs quite long to load a backup, After selecting a date to restore if takes arround 20 seconds to load, then another 20 seconds to build the backup. Monitoring report often shows a failed backup, when going into the report tab on the software itself it doesn't show as failed.

I have Altaro VM Backup deployed at 78% of my client sites, doing both onsite and offsite backups. I rest much easier with these clients as know we have BC/DR solution in place that works.

Pros

Ease of use, feature set, support, reliable.

Cons

Initial setup can be a bit tricky if you don't know your infrastructure; this is the same with all backup solutions.

Pros

Altaro is easy to setup and it just works! It's super easy to restore individual files or entire virtual machines. Altaro has changed my business forever...for the better.

Cons

Occasionally my backups set out of sync and I need to start them over. This is only a minor annoyance however. The good DEFINITELY outweighs the bad.

Pros

I use Altaro VM Backup at multiple sites. I have done image restores and file level restores without any issues. Easy to setup and maintain.

Cons

I really cannot think of any. I've only used this product so I have nothing to compare.

I have been using the Altaro VM Backup free edition for my local office lab. I have been very pleased with its efficiency and performance.

Pros

The Altaro Free VM backup comes as freeware for 2 VMs per hypervisor host, forever without any limitations. This covers all major Hypervisor platforms. The product is very easy to setup and operate and it provides all features of the paid version, just for a maximum of two VMs per host.

Cons

I would like to see the ability to run the free version of Altaro for more than two VMs in the future. Also I would like to see support for other major hypervisors, including Citrix Hypervisor (former XenServer) and Nutanix.

It's been very good and I don't have to babysit it. It's cheaper, easier to setup and has a better UI than Veeam. You also don't have constant pushy upselling like Veeam does

Cost of ownership. Ease of setup. User interface.

Cons

They need to fully AD backup like other titles. Support is generally excellent but I do get an occasional lemon.

Cons

We have some issues from time to time with one Exchange server VM, but it is only related to one area.

Automated and offsite backups, restore testing, and everything else have streamlined our backup strategy and made our lives easier.

Pros

It is a fraction of the cost of other enterprise products. It makes our backup strategy easy to accomplish and monitor. Offsite backups are a breeze with Azure integration. Backup/Restore testing is easy. Support is very responsive - not that we have needed it much!

Cons

I honestly do not have any complaints about this software.

I purchased Altaro to get rid of Veeam which was installed by an MSP that I replaced. Altaro ticked almost all of my requirement boxes, coming from an MSP myself where we used Datto BDR for backups.

Pros

I love the boot-from-backup capability. It's crucial in a Disaster Recover scenario. We tested this last year in our DR test.

Cons

I wish that had the ability to function like a proper BDR device without hurdles and hoops to jump through.

Solid easy to use backups!

Pros

Pretty much everything is super easy to setup and it just runs. Ran into some very minor setup problems but that was mostly hyper v server. Simple management and scheduling for all normal backup tasks.

Cons

It's not an issue with normal usage but I'd like an easier way to drill down into backups and move backup sets to a new host. Maybe an optional back up schedule for when a vm is moved to another host.
