I like that I am able to post items students will need throughout the semester, stay in contact with them, and D2L allows personal responsibility for grades and attendance. Cons I wish that when using the e-mail-classlist - it would show the entire thread and also that it was compatible with MyMTC. It would be more user-friendly for both the students and faculty. Additionally they provide many webinars and conferences that help the users to create a network and exchange knowledge. Cons The not so intuitive construction of the LMS. Some navigation buttons can be confusing. One of the drawbacks is that it doesn't keep preferences like restrictions as default and you have to push lots of buttons or tick many boxes for each course. Review Source SG Steve G. Pros Educational applications come in a variety of shapes and sizes, each promising to be a fully integrated learning platform but a number fall short. Brightspace provides an impressive array of options, each delivering a reliable experience. Brightspace is constantly looking to improve and seems to listen to feedback from users to make a more compete experience. Cons While the updates make a better product, they can be jarring at times, especially after one finds a sense of confidence in their normal routines with Brightspace. I think I will also like their adaptive learning--once they make it a part of their base system rather than an extra charge. Cons Improvements come at a cost. Pros Brightspace is great for setting up different courses and tracking the metrics of those courses such as how much time an instructor or student is spending within the course. It can even track which pages or assignment each person has viewed and give you the time they viewed it in. So this software excels at tracking that data. Cons While tracking metrics is great what really hurts this software is that it is clunky in terms of ease. It can be difficult to locate resources within the software which can be very frustrating. Pros I loved how easy it was to use. I picked up the ease of use without looking at the instructions on using it. It's very intuitive to use. It has a great look and feel. They are always asking customers what we need to do our jobs better. Monthly updates come out to fix issues, create new tools, or revamp old tools. Cons This product comes with a nice price tag, but you pay for what to get. Most definitely worth the price. It is easy to be consistent among your different classes. Cons It is difficult to do some tasks that should be easy. (Example: When you forget to associate a test with a gradebook item, you have to come back and do that. The test will not automatically populate to the gradebook.) The mobile app is not good. Pros This blended LMS is a great tool for corporate training, comprehension testing, and retention tracking. Put the Kirkpatrick model into full use. Cons All LMS software can be wonky at times. You can very easily go from entering grades, to creating a new module, to entering attendance; it's very user-friendly. Cons I currently also work with Moodle, from a student perspective, through my own schooling. So in comparing the two platforms, while I like the ease of transitioning from one tab to another in D2L, honestly, I like the layout of Moodle a little better. I find that it's more comprehensive and just easier on the eyes. Cons We sometimes have to wait too long on support and usually get a response that a particular issue is a known bug.
