The fact that keeps everything simple and efficient for you and your team at the Botanical Gardens speaks volumes. Those daily reminders must be a game-changer—keeping everyone on track without extra effort on your part. It’s great when a tool doesn’t just work but actively makes life easier.

Pros

My experience with the technical support !!!! Having a real person who is genuinely helpful and knowledgeable can make all the difference. A great help desk can turn frustrating moments into smooth solutions, and it's refreshing when tech support is both friendly and effective. Have you had a specific interaction with their team that stood out

Cons

Pros

There are so many positive features - the communication tools, options for categorizing and organizing volunteers, features to help streamline onboarding and continued training. It seems the team thought of nearly everything when developing the software, and their availability and knowledge about the program is wildly helpful. Their Support specialist, \[sensitive content hidden\] , not only answered a question I emailed quickly and made the solution very clear and easy to follow, she made time after that to meet via Zoom and teach me a bit more about the program, solving a few challenges I wasn't even aware VL could mitigate prior to speaking with her! Afterward she even made a few guides specifically for our account to help familiarize me with it even more. Her competence and knowledge of VL is top tier, and her ability to quickly pick up the needs of our program made a huge difference.

Cons

The communication tool is a bit cumbersome at times when trying to attach or insert photos or documents, but all in all works quite well.

Pros

Really easy to learn and set up my event and corresponding shifts.Support was easy to access and responsive. I needed a specialty report and the Support person quickly provided me a Google Spreadsheet that gave me exactly what I needed and taught me how to do it myself.

Cons

A couple of minor suggestions. I needed to capture of summary of tshirt size AND hat size. I would have liked to see both on my dashboard.

Overall my experience has been confusing and overwhelming so far but \[sensitive content hidden\] has been my saving grace and I feel confident I can figure out everything I will need with her help!

Pros

I am just getting started in the platform and while it has been overwhelming, by far my favorite part is your personalized support. \[sensitive content hidden\] has helped me twice in the past week as I try to get familiarized with the platform and I just can't say enough about how wonderful she has been. She was kind, patient, and was so respectful in how she guided me through the tasks I needed to know more about. I especially love that you all do not use an automated system, and that I was able to reach the same \*actual\* person each time I called without having to go through a long menu of choices. THANK YOU for having live support staff available but most of all thank you for \[sensitive content hidden\]! :)

Cons

It is a lot to take in, though that is probably unavoidable. It would be nice to see a list of certain data within the platform without having to export it as well.

This is the first time I have really dove into the application. Trying to develop a process to fit out user needs as a sib organization. The support I have received when I have had questions is always prompt and friendly. This morning I left a voicemail and was immediately phoned back for assistance. \[sensitive content hidden\] was very professional and was able to assist with my issue as well as provide information for additional questions I had. While I like to explore things myself, It's good to know I have support when needed.

Pros

I like to ability to copy a volunteer to different positions instead of manual entry.

Cons

Having to make export reports and the inability to go to the shift in my job and download it frmo there automatically. The icons are inconsistant, If i am looking at a shift list.. on the right is cancel but if I click the box to the right of the name, icons drop down and it is a trash can that says delete. They should probably be changed to something that says remove from shift. Delete can and has been misunderstood as Deleting a user. Its actually odd to have both ways from the same place available. A way to delete move/ copy multiple people from a job might be a good feature. I am not sure if it currently exists. There needs to be a wait list feature for each job that allows the ability to have someone apply and sit before they can sign up for a shift. This way data can be gathered for a job to select the most qualified for positions. The merge function leaves a little to be desired for users who have made 2 profiles with different forms of their name but the same email address. There should be a feature that stops a new profile from being made. This proves to be confusing to the user when they are trying to self verify. The search function is spotty. I can search a user with an email address and about 75% of the time it will come up. Additional tag in the template that allows the Job name( in our instance the team name) to be populated to the template. We send all invitations out in bulk for all jobs, so having the ability to have the job /team mentioned in the email would be preferred. This I assume would be the Job name and not the current or in additon to the current Job info.

On a follow up call with the customer we addressed a few items from the feedback. (a) The feedback regarding the delete/remove was implemented, (b) while we don't have a formal wait list process, there are configurations available to create wait lists, (c) the merge process is a capability we support, (d) demonstrated that dup profiles are not being created, (e) search capability is working properly.

I know if I fill out a ticket, I will be responded to very quickly. I work with \[sensitive content hidden\] mostly, and he's always helpful. He understands I'm not a tech person at all, and he's patient and kind.

Cons

It's difficult for me to learn new tech, and I think most of my problems stem from that, not the funtionality of the product.

It's been good even though some of the functions are not perfect. We're making it work.

Pros

We wanted something that integrated with Donor Perfect. The system is fairly easy to use. It's helped us improve our registration process, work flow for volunteers and tracking hours.

Cons

Problems with some accounts not being able to register for shifts. The text function is not available. Flags are limited. The WRAP is a little wonky. Easier access to volunteer profiles for our volunteers.

Reason for choosing VolunteerLocal

Integration to donor perfect and email/texting function. However, the texting function has not worked. That could be an issue for us to decide on renewing.

I am the Volunteer Coordinator for a food pantry in Colorado. We operate twice a month and each pantry runs Sun - Wed. A single pantry has 184 volunteer spots that need to be filled. I have 500+ volunteers in my database. We moved from SignUpGenius to VL for function, i.e., better reports, and tech support. The team at VL have been easy to work with and my questions and concerns have been addressed promptly. If you have a repeatable event with a large number of jobs / shifts and you want to track volunteer information, you should consider .

Pros

As an Admin, it is easy to duplicate events. Reports are easy to use and their database is set up in such a way that I have been able to create almost every report I wanted. Tech support responds promptly with legitimate answers. My 500+ volunteers are reporting VL is an easy too for them to use.

Cons

N/A. I haven't come across anything we haven't been able to resolve or work through.

Reason for choosing VolunteerLocal

These were the criteria I used when researching different tools. 1.Allow volunteers to see who they would be working with. This option is not available with most software due to privacy concerns. defaults to not allowing volunteers to see their co-workers, but I requested and received an exception. 2.Be easy for volunteers to sign up and edit an existing signup, i.e., add a comment, cancel a shift, etc. 3.Be easy for volunteers to add a guest, specifically, NOT requiring each volunteer, including minor children, to sign up separately with their own email ID. 4.Be easy for volunteers to view the number of open positions for a particular pantry date and/or job. 5.Be easy for volunteers to find the shift you are interested in. 6.Include a mobile app. As an Admin, I wanted it to be easy to duplicate an event and to run the reports I needed.

The primary reason we are moving away from SUG is the technical support we received was unsatisfactory, i.e., the duplicate url issue occurred twice this year (delaying the release of new signups), numerous emails sent from SUG are not delivered due to ‘bad email IDs (from Microsoft)’ and there is no longer help from SUG to resend these, images and formatting options are not available when sending mass emails from SUG (the emails I’ve been sending recently are handcrafted in word and manually sent in groups of 100 from the Round Pantry ID), and third party cookies have prevented volunteers from signing up. Additionally, all reports in SUG are date-based and not volunteer-based. This requires an arduous process on my part to create the reports we like to see, e.g., number of active volunteers, number of faith organizations, etc. Also, I have experienced times when the SUG server is down and signups are simply not available.

makes it possible for us to organize large numbers of people to participate in our programs in the shortest possible time. Because it allows applicants to broadcast their participation directly from the application to their social media pages, we are able to multiply our reach quite efficiently without any additional marketing costs. And the best part of all is that, volunteers can be given an option to contribute and make donations to the cause during registration or after they have completed their service. A win win for all!!

Pros

Most volunteers are simply looking for a way to give back to the community. And what is great about is that there is an integrated payment processing platform that allows volunteers to give more than just their time. And because it is presented as an auxiliary and optional feature, volunteers neither feel pressured to donate nor have to struggle to give if they want to.

Cons

The reporting and analytics features are quite inadequate. And there should be an easily composed dashboard for quick progress updates to enable coordinators better update themselves with the state of affairs in real time.

Support team is awesome and the response times are amazing! They are extremely helpful which allows us as end users to take advantage of the features/functionality.

Pros

Very intuitive, easy to setup and manage volunteers, events/jobs/shifts and allows easy check in and check out using kiosks. We had a manual process prior to procuring this system and were enormously burdened with keeping tracking of volunteer hours for the youth (who need the hours to submit to schools/colleges).

Cons

Like any system, this one too is built on a baseline spec. As more institutions/users come onboard and start using it, it is but natural that suggestions will start flowing based on specific nuances. The ease of suggesting these changes and have some or all of those incorporated in subsequent releases would in our view make this system even more versatile and flexible.

I have been so pleased with not only the capabilities of VolunteerLocal's system, but the customizable options that allow us to really capture and streamline information in a way that makes the most sense for the unique needs of our organization. And again, you simply cannot beat the personal, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service. I would highly recommend this system to other Volunteer Managers in the nonprofit sector.

Pros

has been a phenomenal partner for our organization. The software is fully customizable and has helped us streamline how we capture volunteer information and schedule volunteers. The best part is the phenomenal customer service from Brian, Emily, and the rest of the team. They have been tremendous partners in helping us set up our site in a way that will most benefit our organization.

Cons

We have been incredibly satisfied customers. While some aspects of the set up process were a bit confusing for this technologically-challenged employee, the team was so patient, kind, and helpful in assisting with our setup. Any roadblocks that came up were kindly and quickly addressed by the excellent customer service.

I find it fairly easy to use. I wish I had more time to delve into all the extra features it offers because I'd probably be amore efficient user. I appreciate the customer service aspect of it the most.

Pros

The scheduling is easy to set up, making adjustments to existing factions if use is easy to do. My customer service rep is on the ball, thanks \[sensitive content hidden\]! He will always try to squeeze in my problems for solution in an immediate manner and that is probably my favorite part of this program.

Cons

I wish the YouTube channel were updated more frequently, I do like using that as a resource, but when the interface changes and the tutorial doesn't reflect that change, it can be confusing.

My main area of concern in choosing a new platform was communication and background screens. completely simplified communication to the thousands of volunteers we have by allowing us to schedule emails and creating templates to have. With background screens, I wanted a platform that allowed volunteers to complete a background screen without having to send additional seperate links and an easy way to keep track of background screens. VolunteerLocal allowed that to happen and even made updates, so I was able to see who completed a background screen / who still needed one instead of having to go into each volunteer profile.

Pros

is extremely easy to use. When it came to building out events and scheduling, it was very straightforward. The best part is being able to add in PDF documents within shifts to help minimize distribution of paper and be able to send all necessary information through VolunteerLocal. Also, the integration with background screens and communication templates made it so much easier to track and communicate with volunteers.

Cons

One of the areas I would like to see updated would be the mobile app. I think it does do it's purpose but could have some upgrades to the looks of it.

After using other volunteer registration platforms, has saved me several hours of time as it provides all of the features that I need and it's easy to maneuver. I have used other platforms that were not user friendly which cost me a lot of extra time in preparing statistics, reports, etc. which had to be done manually. Being able to send email and text communications directly from VolunteerLocal (and being able to choose specific recipients) was a huge time saver. VolunteerLocal also allowed for me to invite team captains to have limited access to their volunteer jobs on VolunteerLocal so they could remain updated with their volunteer recruitment, whereas, other platforms I would have to do on a regular basis because they didn't allow for outside user access.

Pros

This software is very user friendly and easy to maneuver around to the different features, especially for someone like me who is not extremely savvy with technology. It provides all of the features that I need for volunteer recruitment for our annual race.

Cons

I have used other platforms for volunteer recruitment, and to be honest, there was nothing that I didn't like about . It provided everything that I needed, whereas other products didn't have all of the features that I needed, which meant I had to do a lot of my recruitment manually.

My experience has been excellent. Implementing the system was smooth and is easy to use. I can't say enough about customer service. They are very attentive to answering your questions in a timely manner. They genuinely care about making sure the software meets your needs.

Pros

The software was easy to adapt from our previous system. It is easy to set up and use. The software can be adapted to meet your individual needs which was really helpful. The training was excellent. No question was too stupid to ask. Customer service is outstanding. Very friendly, patient and response is very quick.

Cons

There are too many screens that you have to go through to sign up for a shift. They are working on streamlining the process.

Exceptional customer service along with a premier product.

Pros

The combination of all the functions needed to run a smooth volunteer based event - functions that we didn't even think of that we are still inspired to incorporate into our SOP. User friendly yet customizable but not so much that I need to be a programmer to know how to use the product.

Cons

I have too many options! I get overwhelmed sometimes by all the functionalities available and how to utilize every single one. I don't need to be a programmer but it shows me how granular I could get to run my event. In a perfect event world, I could have a whole month building my VL pages and then barely have anything to manage come recruitment and management time.

User friendly. Excellent training videos are available to use at any time. Knowledgeable and helpful staff who handle training and follow-up very well. They answer questions and " please help me calls" the fastest I have ever experienced. Most valuable to keep on working in the area I needed help. The ability to populate a current event from a previous event is valuable. Archived volunteer information is always avaiable.

Cons

I can't think of any. Everything I need is taken care of with their software and follow up

Love these folks. They work with us on pricing. They understand events and the customer service is something they should brag about.

Pros

It is clean to look at and clean on the user interface. I also LOVE their customer service. They are responsive and helpful!

Cons

The learning curve can seem a little daunting but the customizability if part of what makes this software so great. You don't have to know everything on the back end to use it but you can get lost in the weeds.

Reason for choosing VolunteerLocal

They negotiated on price. They have stuck with us and that pricing through the pandemic and every person with whom I have spoken at this company is generous with their time and helpful in the extreme. They want you to succeed with their product and it shows.

has been a useful tool to help organize volunteers in my position as Volunteer Director.

Pros

I like the ease of use from the perspective of registering. I can share the signup link, and volunteers are able to clearly chose jobs.

Cons

There is a learning curve for . The platform is unlike others I have used in the past. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a con, but there have been some kinks I have had to work through.
