Overall, 7shifts is quite easy to work with, I've only experienced some minor inconveniences with it. Otherwise, it is significantly more streamlined compared to software that my close friends have shown me that their workplaces implement.

Pros

As a worker, I've found 7shifts fairly easy to work with. It easily allows me to see my upcoming shifts and if necessary offer them up for others to take. I have not personally used other software, but my friends have told me that they are either unable to trade shifts easily or at all! The messaging features are also quite adequate as they are simple to understand and use. They make it a breeze to contact my coworkers or employer if necessary. Finally, I believe it is a fairly recent development, but 7shifts has a logbook feature that allows for commentary about that day of work. The logbook is exceptional at sharing information with my employer and coworkers, and helps us maintain inventory and smooth daily operations.

Cons

Its recording of my expected pay is not always 100% accurate although that's probably due to taxes. However it might be nice to implement a feature that determines what you'll make after tax. Additonally, I've had some issues trying to input my availability, where the dates will switch before I post my availability. This isn't a deal breaker but just a bit annoying to switch them back.

### "Huge Fan of 7Shifts"

I've used 7Shifts as an employee and as an Admin - my experience between both roles/permissions has been great and easy to use. I love the push notifications, bidding on open shifts and being able to really drill down on your shift availability for upcoming schedules and how the app automatically notes those.

Pros

I love the scheduling capabilities 7Shifts offers the most - we have a complicated schedule to work on and this is the best software we've used and it does the job well.

Cons

Sometimes there are some glitches and errors at times, but when those happen I can always reach out to their Customer Support Team and they've always been able to help me at once, even if it's on the backend on their side. Plus, updates/glitches are not uncommon for software so this is minor.

I have to say I'm an expert at 7shift because I've been using it for multiple previous restaurants.

Pros

7Shifts makes my life so much easier. Everything is seamless when it comes to adding an employees week schedule or making changes. The feature to choose multiple days to add shifts makes everything super easy. Also the shift+click+paste way to move things around is great.

Cons

The thing I like the least is 7Shifts and TripleSeat aren't integrated. If those two platforms spoke together it would make so many peoples lives easier because it would automatically plug in the event totals into the labor tool. Everything would be much more accurate with predictions.

I am so happy with this program, and would recommend it to anyone.

Pros

After almost 30 years of using the same system I dragged my feet going into the digital age for scheduling. After about 5-6 hours in I was definitely sold! I love that my request calendar and schedule are connected, eliminating the old multi tiered way of doing it with texts, messengers, google chats, emails, and in person requests all being transferred to a google calendar and then eventually to an excel document, leaving so much room for error!

Cons

I would like to be able to import a planning calendar as we schedule based on the number of visitors expected based on past years averages.I would love it if I could copy and paste in the templates (ctrl,shift, drag) like in the schedules tabI would like to be able to export things into an excell document as we have a daily shared spreadsheet that has specific details of the day hour by hour.I would like for there to be an option to check for Open like there is for CL and BD.

Slows of writing an accurate schedule and the fact that it integrates with toast POS

Cons

No negatives at this time, if I could see front of the house labor broken out from the back of the house labor so I can monitor the numbers individually would be most important

I was an excel user for my scheduling. I've used Schedule Fly and Hot Schedules and always found them lacking. I was wary at first, but 7-shifts covers all the bases. As mentioned in my ''cons" there are a few improvements or tweaks I'd like to see, but overall I'm thrilled.

Pros

So user friendly. So many functions that removed the need for multiple software or multiple reports.

Cons

Sometimes you can't erase a log comment. Can't figure out why. Wish it could hold more documents in employee files. It pulls sales from prior day when linked with POS, wish it could pull cover count for reporting as well.

I’ve had a great experience since procuring and implementing this software for the company I work for. Aron wall has been my go to guy from day one and regardless of the issue I know it will get resolved by the team at 7 Shifts.

Pros

From the beginning I was impressed at the many features this software made available and the ease of use. Technical support when needed was prompt and efficient. Obviously a company committed to their product, updates to services and the addition of new features are frequent.

Cons

I can honestly say there is nothing that I do not like about this software!

The features to track time off and availability make this app absolutely incredible as well as the schedule builder when on PC to drag, drop, copy and paste shifts!

Cons

The fact the schedule builder tool is not available on mobile. Also the lack of ability to have settings other than BD or CL. For example having LN for late night

Overall this program is great! Been using for years but it would be nice for some more options to personalize for our needs. Love the reports feature though to see how staff compare in various categories!

Pros

I do the scheduling for a staff of 60+ so the ease of copying shifts to another week/day is great

Cons

The integration between this and Toast is great but could still use some work. We primarily use it for the purposes of seeing when staff have clocked in or not and as a manager it would be great to turn this feature on and off for the different departments ( front of house, back of house, bar). It would also be great to turn the feature off for clocking out vs clocking in at the end of the shift vs beginning. As a front of house manager I’m not as concerned with back of house clockins but still get 12 notifications for their staff a day, and I am more concerned about front of house staff clocking in but not as concerned with them clocking out

Pros

The ui for 7 shifts makes sense and is quite intuitive. It also looks nice, which is hard to come by with other scheduling programs. I have all records for hours worked, payroll, and a calender in one place which makes my life incredibly easy.

Cons

I honestly don't have any complaints. It is difficult to manage so many aspects of a business through 1 app and 7 shifts does a good job of doing that, especially compared to some of the competition.

### "Not Just for Resturants"

Not sure what we do about scheduling caregivers without 7Shifts...it would be a nightmare to track availability and schedule without the ability to track each caregiver's weekly availability to fill a shift and pick up shifts when needed.

Pros

7Shifts is indispensable for our team of healthcare providers...we use it daily for scheduling, task management, and employee communication. Not sure how we ever functioned without the features which are so applicable to our particular environment and team as we care for our client. The scheduling feature alone saves us so much time and effort in scheduling caretakers as schedules change throughout the week. And the task management feature is the proverbial "icing on the cake" for shift tasks that need to be performed daily.

Cons

The task management feature needs some "Love" especially with scheduling and assigning weekly tasks for employees who are scheduled later in the week. Frustrating to not be able to schedule an employee for a task to be performed later in the week if they are not scheduled the day I need to assign the task.

7Shifts has been very good to work with. They are very responsive and are very interested in receiving feedback. We have had multiple discussions with them on new features or proposed features.

Pros

Employees loved the tool from the first day. Our prior tool was not as good at the communication piece. The interface just makes it fun to use. The support team is very responsive to chat. I have rarely had to talk to someone directly but that is available when I have needed it as well.

Cons

Communication: would like to have a way to search the content of messages or announcements as well as the ability to go back and download them. We use our POS for time keeping - and there is a delay getting that information to 7Shifts if someone incorrectly punched out. As a result, it is not used for payroll purposes, we pull data from the source. A variance report that shows when someone is scheduled to work and when the actually clocked in/out would be appreciated. It does report on variances by total hours but does not give it by actual schedule for that day.

Reason for choosing 7shifts

7Shifts was fun for employees to use - so they were more willing to use it. It eliminating printing out and posting the schedule each week.

My managers and employees love it.

Pros

It is easy to use and anybody with a phone can have easy access to their schedule, send messages using it, and letting anybody know about changes. It is a very practical and professional tool for the schedules that we use in our Restaurant. We have the scheduling available on our P/R processor, but we prefer to pay for this service as it is more agile and practical than our P/R company.

Cons

To be honest, I do not have any complaints, but we only use the scheduling module as we have other systems.

Overall, we have had a very good experience since making the switch over to 7shifts and would certainly recommend it to other restaurants - especially those with a large staff.

Pros

7shifts makes it easy to communicate with the entire staff, individually or as a group. It even allows us to easily send messages to specific roles or groups within roles, such as "bartenders scheduled today" or "servers not scheduled today." It also makes it easy for staff to communicate with management and each other, and has also made the process of shift swapping/coverage easier for staff and management. Managers love that we can see all bids for a shift, and that no swap or coverage goes unapproved (which often happened in the past when we were still using a paper system for switches). It's also great when we need to add staff for a particular shift, as we can simply post an open shift for anyone in a particular role.

Cons

I wish you could access the original version of a posted schedule (before swaps/pick-ups, etc) and see quickly who picked up a shift vs. who was originally scheduled, rather than having to go back through the activity log. Additionally, apart from the dashboard view - which is fantastic and super convenient for planning each day - the layout of the iPad app isn't great, and when there are major changes/updates to the product, it can be tricky to get used to. When there are glitches (which is pretty rare), it can be disruptive to our process of planning each shift. These aren't things you have to deal with when using a paper system, however they are minor issues in comparison to the many benefits of switching to 7shifts.

When I started at the business, they had multiple platforms for log book, scheduling, messaging, etc. 7Shifts has helped us streamline these processes and made for a better and easier time filling out and getting the information you need. The ease of use on phones has been huge and the engagement of the staff has gone up a lot since we began using it.

Pros

Ease of use, cost effective, incredible customer service. The log book is a game changer and the messaging aspect eliminates the need for Slack or another messaging service. Keeps everything in one place, we love it!

Cons

The calendar views aren't great as far as printing and being able to see everyone working each day. It's not fun that crew members can't see their Managers schedule unless they are rated as managers - I don't want everyone to see the managers messaging so this is tricky. The organization of the chats can get confusing after a while.

I would say that this is a 9/10 Customer Service is very helpful. The system itself feels like someone in the industry knew what to do and do it correctly. I have used others before and this is my favorite for the price and experience.

Pros

I like messaging the most. I have a team message, my shift lead and management message, and a smaller group message for other small events happening.

Cons

I would say when it's lagging on mobile app.

I choose 7shifts because I operate seasonally. This is the only company that would allow me to pause my account when it's not in use.

Cannot change close times to reflect different closes in house; IE bar closes after kitchen. Not full functionality from mobile device for administrative tasks such as posting availabilities and blocking dates for time off
