Pros What I like most about this software is the level of support I got from the eFileCabinet team. I know I drove them crazy with questions but they always helped me. Getting support was just one phone call away or just going to their site and using the handy chat box, and I always dealt with the same people. I can't say that about any other company's support team that I've dealt with. Cons I'd say I liked the online "Cloud" version the least. Just because for a company of our size, running the server/client software made more sense and was much faster. Pros The software is a nice alternative to physical files and easy to use/grasp. Cons When uploading multiple documents at a time it errors out fairly often and or freezes. Sometimes it will show that all documents have uploaded into a file but when others go to open it at another time from their computer nothing actually uploaded. Development did not seem interested in fixing the problem but just keeps recommending upgrades without promising anything. Otherwise in theory it is a great product. Pros File structure and templates, search function Cons The method by with the software process a request for read or write using SQL is flawed and uses too much resources. This caused it to be virtually unusable after about 60-70 users were connected. Adding resources to the eFileCabinet server did not help. LM Linda M. owner Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great software most of the time" July 23, 2019 4.0 We have used this software since 2003 and up until this year really liked the software and the felt secure with the program. This year we were given instructions on purging documents and even though safe guards are supposed to be put in place, there was a glitch in the program and we lost file folders that were not supposed to be deleted. We contacted it and they could not give us an explanation or a solution to the problem. The files are simply gone. Pros The ease of use of this product is terrific. Cons We had a problem where we lost information and the it department has yet to get back to us about a practice to be sure that never happens again. Pros eFile is set up logically, just like a filing cabinet. It is so easy to file and fast--as fast as you can scan, you can file. Finding files is easier than going through paper files and no paper cuts! Cons I still can't figure out how to get the email function to work, but that's on me. We can now operate in a smaller footprint, print WAY less documents, and have everything we need for a great customer transaction right in front of us. We have saved and made way more money from using eFileCabinet than the software costs. 10/10 would recommend to any size business. Pros eFileCabinet allows my business to have every client document, marketing file, and expense worksheet right at our fingertips. I love how easy it is to use and how we can have our files so well organized. We have avoided many customer issues and definitely increased our sales by the organization that eFileCabinet has provided us. Cons The price is nothing to balk at and at first I was hesitant since there are other, cheaper, options out there. But let me tell you the ease of use, quality of the product and fantastic customer support make it worth every penny we spend. Director of IT Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Great solution for your document management needs" December 20, 2016 4.0 eFileCabinet Desktop software is first class, leading-edge document management software that will help you tame even the most paper addicted office environments. The Cabinet>Drawer>Folder structure makes organization a breeze, the myriad of ways to store documents into eFileCabinet (either through the dedicated eFileScanner application, send to EFC in the shell context menus, print to EFC, the EFC plugins for Microsoft Office, or just plain drag and drop into the application) make getting things in a simple affair. Likewise, checking out documents to edit or send them elsewhere is easy. Active Directory integration is awesome, permissions are extremely granular. My only gripe is the release cadence for the desktop product has slowed down considerably as I guess they have shifted development resources to their cloud product, and I prefer to keep my documents on premises. Pros Easy to use, flexible, comprehensive, stable, secure. Cons Release cadence is slow, has not been ported to 64 bit, "Cloud View" backup can be fickle. Review Source TC Tim C. I love the cloud version other than the pront issue mentioned above and there are a few other glitches. (i.e. for some reason, I cannot append or prepend a document into Rubex) Pros I like the ability of log into Rubex from anywhere. Cons I don't like the SideKick. On the desktop version of e-filecabinet, you could print directly to the program. I am not a fan that on the cloud version, I need a 3rd program to print a document tinto E-FC Reason for choosing Revver It was already implemented in the firm I purchased 5 years ago. At that time, it was easier to keep the program rather than start with something else new. Pros It's does what we needed it to do. I enjoy the preview pane. Allows me to review something without downloading. Cons Slow. Often lags when opening folders. Frequently I get an error saying "file unable to load" or "file did not download". When using a template, you can't add a subfolder to all folders. If a folder or document is accidently checked out, I haven't been able to check it back in. Preventing download, movement or deletion of it. Cons I wish you didn't to pay for multiple users, which can be very expensive. I hate that if someone else need to go into e-file it logs the other person out. THAT SUCKS!!!! The development and support on this software may lead a person to believe that this is a company that is slipping. Pros The software is relatively easy to set up and learn. The processes are intuitive and logical. Cons The software development and support are poor. The development team will put out updates that are not properly tested. The updates will cause problems, create down time for the entire office and support will not be able to fix the problems timely. If you call support later in the day, they will want to schedule another time to help you with the issue. They will not work extra time to make sure your system is up and running. They either are not allowed to or don't want to work overtime to help you with software issues caused by their own development team. I didn't have room for any more cabinets and eFileCabinet made the growth of my CPA business much easier and more efficient. Pros The ease of use. Once you learn how to use eFileCabinet, the everyday use is easy. All of the scanned items are readily available. Making changes to each cabinet is easy and quick. The yearly update to all of the cabinets is very convenient. Cons There isn't anything I don't like about eFileCabinet. Pros Works well for approval of invoices, you can restrict who sees what and works in a server environment. Cons Searching is cumbersome (kinda like you would see in the 1990's) and it often crashes. Every time I contact tech support on crashing they just tell me to reinstall and it never helps. The fact that you have to re enter all your log-in info every time you try to log in when there are to many users also is a pain. " May 11, 2018 5.0 Retention of important data (sent from outside the firm or created by the firm); ability to organize data as I wish, ability to share files with clients Pros I like the versatility. From the beginning, I could see the many opportunities of how eFc could be used by other industries/situations. I am amazed that we have the ability to create a digital filing cabinet where WE, the user, can organize each drawer however is best for our business or our purpose. Organization can be as extremely detailed or as simplified as one wishes . If a piece of information needs to be shared outside of the business then there are numerous easy ways to do that including SecureDrawer. To top it off, it is not difficult to learn. We've all dealt with software that requires us to pull out our notes to work in it. Not eFc! Cons As with all software, there are little things that happen every once in a while. For example, 2% of the time when I type in a search word (that I know is there), nothing will come up. As I said, it's just a little thing. Review Source CM Chris M. Pros As we try to move to paperless, it is nice to have a system where we can utilize storage on our end and sync with the client. Cons The link between SecureDrawer and EFile is not as easy and simple as we would like. Especially when trying to adjust the Drawers from the EFile side. We have to login to SecureDrawer in order to make any changes. Pros It is very easy to navigate, upload, manage and organize documents. Easy printing and has great features like retention, permissions, templates (include mass options) and preview options. Cons I do not like that it does not have a feature to send reminders when updated documents are due. For instance, an email reminder for something that expires or renews every 6 months. In second year savings were substantial due to not having printing, storage costs of original files plus need for duplicate files. My Client files have to be stored for minimum of ten years Cons If cancel service then lose files not accessible. Annual service fee high. If have no internet access cannot access. We were able to customize its use and flexibility to our needs. The storage is optimal and each person in our office is able to use it and train on it well. Pros The search features we were able to create allow us to easily search through files and find what we need. Cons The software has an older look to it, but that does not affect its use. Renewal is sometimes a pain but we have had help from support. The ability to email documents straight from the program is the feature I appreciate the most. Cons It's common for a few of our workstations to have quirky problems with efile cabinet and it never seems to be the same. We've run into not being able to open documents, can't encrypt documents, can't scan into efile cabinet, you name it. But they're usually fixable after reaching out to support. So overall I would say, time, control and ease of use. Pros Being able to print documents , tax returns, emails etc. directly to a file draw definitely saves us time. We have complete control over how we structure our file layout and it is easy to use so everyone works comfortably with it. Cons The only issue I have is printing pdf files directly to a folder, we have to upload verses printing.
