It is complex so we are still learning but excited for its scalable solutions! Pros Loving Fishbowl! It's fantastic for a small business like mine. Particularly for our warehousing and QuickBooks integration. Cons NO cons so far! It's truly designed for small to midsize companies and we are very pleased with the implementation. In fact before Fishbowl, we would consistently oversell items we didn't even have on hand because the paper records always got messed up. But since Fishbowl keeps track of all the movement of those parts/products, I no longer have to call upset customers telling them their orders have to be canceled. I can view my inventory at home. We did have to find a way around how fishbowl handles work orders. It won't allow us to create a circular reference if we're making one product with another product. I no longer have to keep track of what my next purchase order number will be. Pros It has worked well enough, I use it every day to scan parts. So far it has not crashed (which is surprising since many of the pieces of software we purchase are complete garbage). Their tech support has been pretty good too, they respond right away. Cons The mobile app is super slow. And I hate that when you go to zero in a part's quantity, it removes the sub-location entirely. When I finally receive a shipment for the item I need to put into the new bins, I have to spend hours retyping the bin locations. It is a huge waste of my time. Having an automotive based business, there are many combinations of parts we can put together, so kits has been very valuable to our business. The integrations with the ecommerce platforms and shipping solutions have made our order management efficient and effortless. Fishbowl has been an integral part of our company's success. Pros We have been using Fishbowl for 8 years. It does everything we need for inventory control, point of sale and order management. The integration with eBay, Big Commerce and ShipStation are paramount to our business running smoothly. Anytime we have needed customer support, they have been responsive and resolutions have been quick. We mainly use kits on our selling platforms and Fishbowl's capabilities in this area are versatile. Cons Any time there is an upgrade, we are reluctant to install it because of issues we have had in the past upgrading the first day or two after it is released. However, after I was brought on board into the company, I was able to connect with Fishbowl Support for a retraining with our GM and was pleasantly surprised with the support team in walking us through explicit scenarios to ensure that we make the most of the software we currently leverage. Pros I like that it conveniently integrates with our Quickbooks Pro alongside it's ability to allow us to continue tracking our inventory, BOM, and overall Manufacturing needs as we are scaling quite a bit. It's nice to continue using the same software for our needs in the process of growth. It's perfect for small to mid-size businesses. Cons Fishbowl's interface could use some updating and modernization for UX purposes within all of the modules. Additionally, the software itself can a smidge complex with data migrations; however, that's not necessarily unique to Fishbowl and is a common pain point across similar software of this caliber. Having one comprehensive system has made changing departments seamless. Cons It's easy to "overwhelm" FishBowl. If you're working in too many tabs at once, the system often gets slow or freezes. At least it keeps most of our numbers somewhat in sync with quick books, so I don't get yelled at. Pros You can mess with the template but it's all about how much time you've got. But surprisingly it did manage to handle batch numbers when doing bulk uploads. Cons The error message when an upload failed doesn't tell me anything. I wish there were a way to sort and filter my basic stock quantity on the product availability page through excel rather than having to go out of the application. Cancelling our subscription has been by far the worst experience ever. They make sure you never find the cancel button and force you to contact three separate people (sales) before allowing you to quit. This reporting thing is terrible too. Review Source SB Scott B. Pros Fishbowls ability to have great inventory management, order management, and invoicing while being the best value for money is why we like Fishbowl. Along with with eas of integrations into systems like SPS, Amazon, and Shopify. Cons Well atleast in our case any data migration from a current ERP to a new dual system solution can cause risk and complexity with moving the data over. However this is not Fishbowl specific and has been easy to work with them to get started on our integration. I procrastinated these set up calls and then we decided to implement by EOY which was about a 2-week timeline. It was a sprint and we got it done! Since then, the occasional bugs have been super annoying but the team quickly resolves them. We are getting exactly what we need from an inventory system. Pros Fishbowl has all of the features we need at a competitive price point. We can manage inventory items, have accurate counts and locations of items, create Sales Orders for each Job, and have Projects as Sub-Customers of a Primary Customer. Ultimately, we have a system where we can maintain our inventory valuation and job-cost materials to individual projects. Cons The QuickBooks integration was misrepresented/over-stated. We were initially excited about the QB integration but it was not a must-have for our system. We used BoxStorm in the past and it did not link to QB. Software needs two-way communication to be effective and FishBowl pushes info to QB but does not accept information back. From the start, we were given an onboarding specialist who we worked with 1-on-1 to get all of our products imported and selling channels connected. They showed us everything we needed to know to use the software properly, and tailored the solutions specifically to our needs. The software is simple and easy to use. And if an issue arises, customer support is quick to answer and resolve the problem effectively. I am happy to have made the switch to Fishbowl, as it has saved us a lot of time and made our real-time inventory much more accurate than before. Thank you!!! April 14, 2026 5.0 We have had a wonderful experience overall, and are VERY happy we found FIshbowl when we did (8 years ago or so?) as it has fulfilled all of our inventory needs and more! Pros We like Fishbowl because it serves as a very robust source of truth handling everything from order processing, to invoicing and payments, to inventory management, to accounting. It is also a great bridge from our ecommerce store to quickbooks. It has way more inventory functionality than Quickbooks and our e-commerce store and really does a great job for us when it comes to managing inventory. Cons I don't really have many complaints with Fishbowl other than with our most current website migration, we don't need a lot of the sales features at this point and it is getting a little expensive for how we are using it just due to our exact set-up since we now have different costs with the new website and our order flow is different. I need to remember to call instead of sending an email because it takes longer to get a response when emailing. My issues have always been taken care of efficiently and effectively once I called. Pros I work on the customer service side of the business, and I have to say that Fishbowl is one of the most user-friendly apps I have ever used. It is super easy to enter orders using both the customer's product number and ours. I find it very easy to invoice the orders out as well. I am very pleased with most of what it can do. Cons I feel like there are some things that fall on shoulders of the CSR's that should be handled by the production team/warehouse (ie: picking and shipping) but that might not be a FB issue, that could be the way my company has decided to do things. However, I believe it can be overwhelming with the negative talk and gossip at times. Pros One aspect I appreciate about Fishbowl is that everyone has the power to speak freely and honestly. It is a great way to network and also compare salary, tools, managing skills, etc. Cons I do not like the amount of spam notifications that come with Fishbowl. I do not believe the security is up to standards with the amount of notifications I now receive since using. I also believe it to be higher in price compared to other systems. They don't work for my industry. It's database keeping is pretty good, and the ability to sort is great. But it's also frustrating when there are things you want to be able to do, and just can't. There's no notification process when someone receives something a salesperson entered. So we have to go hunt down that Sales Order, then the person who entered the sales order, THEN we have to go into another type of message system to inform them UNLESS they are logged in to FB right at that moment. With a limit to how many people can be logged into the server at once that makes this yet another unnecessary step to do something very simple. There is a LOT of that with FB. Pros It's an easy way to incorporate Sales order, and purchase orders in one place. It has good options for sorting materials and making build lists, or manuf orders. Cons There needs to be more fluidity between the modules. I shouldn't have to put a cost in 3 different places for it to be able to be seen on a report. Also you should be able to click on the inventory tab on another mod to be moved to the inventory mod like you can between the part and product numbers. It is user-friendly and finding information and navigation is relatively easy. Cons It is comparatively difficult to get correct information out of one report. January 2, 2026 3.0 Overall Fishbowl appears to be a capable tool for organizations with advanced resource and inventory management needs. It just wasn’t the right fit for me after the free trial. Pros The platform feels built for teams that need structure and oversight across physical inventory and internal resources. It’s clear to me that there’s a lot of depth available once everything is configured. Cons Configuring workflows required a significant time investment and unfortunately the interface wasn’t immediately intuitive for our team.
