It has been a great tool to track inventory but not the greatest tool to develop quotes in a fast quoting environment. Some features are fairly easy to use but it is a lot to learn about and takes time becoming an expert in the system. Pros I like that Fishbowl is a great inventory system and shows a lot of material data and revenue per item being sold. I do enjoy the ease of placing orders inside fishbowl and developing transfer orders to process our additional locations. I also enjoy the ease to fulfilled a order in fishbowl as well. Cons I do not like how unforgiving Fishbowl is when a mistake has been made after an order has been fulfilled, adjusting any errors seems pretty difficult to do in fishbowl on processed orders after they have been fulfilled. It is also very hard to develop reports inside of fishbowl as well unfortunately fishbowl spits out a lot of reports per item and not by per order or quote. I also am not a fan of the constant restarting the server when it comes to setting up new location groups. It requires all of our team to log out and restart the server in order for fishbowl to update and process the new location. However, based on our experience so far, Fishbowl has been easy to learn, intuitive to navigate, and has already provided improved visibility into our inventory and assets. As we continue to expand its use, we expect to gain even greater efficiencies and benefits from the system. They are knowledgeable and helpful. Much better than an AI chatbot or outsourced customer service. Pros I like how we can do everything out of fishbowl -> order management, inventory tracking, reporting, shipping labels, etc. Cons Never have been able to get the quickbooks online integration to work for us. While we have had some growing pains getting used to the software and learning its little quirks. The biggest issue we have had is that we did not initially conform all of our part numbers and descriptions which made it difficult to search for certain parts. I have mostly fixed this issue at this point, but it would be nice if the search criteria wasn't so specific. Pros Easy to learn graphical interface. Very effective at inventory management for a small warehouse. Client runs on multiple operating systems for ease of use with a variety of mobile devices. Cons Price is pretty high even compared to competition. I do not like the idea of paying for industry standard reports that seem to be missing from the client. Issues with "scanning" on IOS phones. It would also be nice to see reports on screen rather than as a PDF report or CVS output. Pros It offers alot of flexibility to accommodate our business model of high-mix low volume sales, as well as custom builds. The modules are intuitive and there is clear traceability. Cons I would like more granularity and data analytics capabilities, for example, to drill down to individual raw material costs per sales order over time. The reorder reports can also be improved by providing shortages to a certain data range, rather than all or none approach. We use it day, every day. The support team is awesome, and Fishbowl allows us to monitor and track inventories of our most basic components all the way up through each step until we have a finished product on the shelf, ready to ship. Pros Fishbowl is an easy solution that allows us to track inventory, manufacturing, and order fulfillment from the most basic parts and components, to finished and shipped product. For the most part, Fishbowl has integrated well with other software our company uses like Shopify and HubSpot. The customer support team is also stellar. They have always been able to answer my questions, or they take the time to find an answer and get back to me. I never hesitate to reach out to them. Cons I wish it was possible to receive notifications. It would be nice if I could receive an email when my stock is getting low on certain products, or customize the visibility of sales orders to easily see when certain products are being ordered (customer ordered product A, that SO is now bolded, a different color, etc.) We integrate with Shopify, and we have two separate production and fulfillment facilities. I wish Fishbowl was able to split a sales order when parts of the order will be fulfilled at facility A and the rest of the order will be fulfilled at facility B. April 14, 2026 5.0 We have had a wonderful experience overall, and are VERY happy we found FIshbowl when we did (8 years ago or so?) as it has fulfilled all of our inventory needs and more! Pros We like Fishbowl because it serves as a very robust source of truth handling everything from order processing, to invoicing and payments, to inventory management, to accounting. It is also a great bridge from our ecommerce store to quickbooks. It has way more inventory functionality than Quickbooks and our e-commerce store and really does a great job for us when it comes to managing inventory. Cons I don't really have many complaints with Fishbowl other than with our most current website migration, we don't need a lot of the sales features at this point and it is getting a little expensive for how we are using it just due to our exact set-up since we now have different costs with the new website and our order flow is different. However, after I was brought on board into the company, I was able to connect with Fishbowl Support for a retraining with our GM and was pleasantly surprised with the support team in walking us through explicit scenarios to ensure that we make the most of the software we currently leverage. Pros I like that it conveniently integrates with our Quickbooks Pro alongside it's ability to allow us to continue tracking our inventory, BOM, and overall Manufacturing needs as we are scaling quite a bit. It's nice to continue using the same software for our needs in the process of growth. It's perfect for small to mid-size businesses. Cons Fishbowl's interface could use some updating and modernization for UX purposes within all of the modules. Cons We sell rolls of substrate, and a whole roll is 54.7 yards long. We have to convert it to 55 yards and then adjust the pricing. Not a big deal, though. Cons Well atleast in our case any data migration from a current ERP to a new dual system solution can cause risk and complexity with moving the data over. However this is not Fishbowl specific and has been easy to work with them to get started on our integration. It is a great way to network and also compare salary, tools, managing skills, etc. Cons I do not like the amount of spam notifications that come with Fishbowl. I do not believe the security is up to standards with the amount of notifications I now receive since using. I also believe it to be higher in price compared to other systems. Cons The reporting features leave a lot to be desired. I find that most of the time I am exporting large reports that are slow to generate to transform in excel to get the information I am looking for. I had two cases where our data was messed up due to mistake on our end and I contacted Fishbowl and the support team was able to solve our issues in timely manner. Pros Inventory mangement, Export and import. I especially like the fact that the export allows to save in Excel formart. There are also plenty of reports avaible. Cons There is no customer credit (balance) managent, and it is difficult to management payment across sales orders. Although the system has price rules but it doesn't our this simple requirement: setting up a minimum price for a product and any sell price under the minimum can not sold. Review Source JF Jason F. We had an issue recently that made Fishbowl feel like a nightmare. The customer support was helpful and diligent on getting the program back up and running. It is still not completely the way it was before the issue, but it is usable. Fishbowl still cannot explain what or why it happened with a good explanation or reason. We use Fishbowl a little different than the normal customer would which makes it a little more complex. Pros Inventory management is good. Wish there were more options in customizing reports. Customer support is responsive and helpful. Cons I think it is a little pricey.
