It has been a great tool to track inventory but not the greatest tool to develop quotes in a fast quoting environment. Some features are fairly easy to use but it is a lot to learn about and takes time becoming an expert in the system. Pros I like that Fishbowl is a great inventory system and shows a lot of material data and revenue per item being sold. I do enjoy the ease of placing orders inside fishbowl and developing transfer orders to process our additional locations. I also enjoy the ease to fulfilled a order in fishbowl as well. Cons I do not like how unforgiving Fishbowl is when a mistake has been made after an order has been fulfilled, adjusting any errors seems pretty difficult to do in fishbowl on processed orders after they have been fulfilled. It is also very hard to develop reports inside of fishbowl as well unfortunately fishbowl spits out a lot of reports per item and not by per order or quote. I also am not a fan of the constant restarting the server when it comes to setting up new location groups. It requires all of our team to log out and restart the server in order for fishbowl to update and process the new location. While we have had some growing pains getting used to the software and learning its little quirks. The biggest issue we have had is that we did not initially conform all of our part numbers and descriptions which made it difficult to search for certain parts. I have mostly fixed this issue at this point, but it would be nice if the search criteria wasn't so specific. Pros Easy to learn graphical interface. Very effective at inventory management for a small warehouse. Client runs on multiple operating systems for ease of use with a variety of mobile devices. Cons Price is pretty high even compared to competition. I do not like the idea of paying for industry standard reports that seem to be missing from the client. Issues with "scanning" on IOS phones. April 14, 2026 5.0 We have had a wonderful experience overall, and are VERY happy we found FIshbowl when we did (8 years ago or so?) as it has fulfilled all of our inventory needs and more! Pros We like Fishbowl because it serves as a very robust source of truth handling everything from order processing, to invoicing and payments, to inventory management, to accounting. It is also a great bridge from our ecommerce store to quickbooks. It has way more inventory functionality than Quickbooks and our e-commerce store and really does a great job for us when it comes to managing inventory. Cons I don't really have many complaints with Fishbowl other than with our most current website migration, we don't need a lot of the sales features at this point and it is getting a little expensive for how we are using it just due to our exact set-up since we now have different costs with the new website and our order flow is different. Before Fishbowl I spent countless hours looking for and counting every part in our plant, and also products. Once we signed onto Fishbowl I entered every product into the system. I added SKU's and Bar Codes to all of our parts and products and then our shipping team can scan out all orders live as they ship. Our manufacturing manager can scan completed products straight into inventory so I could have confidence when lining up the shipment, that the products were available. Pros I love Fishbowl for its ability to warn me of upcoming shortages in our manufacturing process. I love how it links our financial team to my orders and supplies to streamline the accounting process when invoicing and making payments. I love the ability to adjust Inventories as I walk around the plant, keeps me from wasted paper and time. I also love the fact that the customer support is live and an actual person. It has cut the cost of our operations by allowing me to be free to do other tasks. Mostly importantly, the security of knowing there is restricted access and there must be a log in for every action. Cons There is very little that I dislike for the fact of time saved and accountability of my suppliers. I used to spend so many hours walking around and inventorying every part 2 - 3 times a week. In fact before Fishbowl, we would consistently oversell items we didn't even have on hand because the paper records always got messed up. But since Fishbowl keeps track of all the movement of those parts/products, I no longer have to call upset customers telling them their orders have to be canceled. I can view my inventory at home. We did have to find a way around how fishbowl handles work orders. It won't allow us to create a circular reference if we're making one product with another product. I no longer have to keep track of what my next purchase order number will be. Pros It has worked well enough, I use it every day to scan parts. So far it has not crashed (which is surprising since many of the pieces of software we purchase are complete garbage). Their tech support has been pretty good too, they respond right away. Cons The mobile app is super slow. And I hate that when you go to zero in a part's quantity, it removes the sub-location entirely. When I finally receive a shipment for the item I need to put into the new bins, I have to spend hours retyping the bin locations. It is a huge waste of my time. The process for doing bulk imports with serial numbers took forever. It is a little discouraging that a couple of issues take in excess of a year to be addressed Pros Fishbowl is an excellent production, inventory management and order fulfillment and invoicing platform that integrates well with shipping, commerce APIs, and QuickBooks. The customer support is for the most part really good and available. February 4, 2026 5.0 Everyone that I have spoken with at Fishbowl has always been very polite and helpful. I need to remember to call instead of sending an email because it takes longer to get a response when emailing. My issues have always been taken care of efficiently and effectively once I called. Pros I work on the customer service side of the business, and I have to say that Fishbowl is one of the most user-friendly apps I have ever used. It is super easy to enter orders using both the customer's product number and ours. I find it very easy to invoice the orders out as well. I am very pleased with most of what it can do. Cons I feel like there are some things that fall on shoulders of the CSR's that should be handled by the production team/warehouse (ie: picking and shipping) but that might not be a FB issue, that could be the way my company has decided to do things. Cons We sell rolls of substrate, and a whole roll is 54.7 yards long. We have to convert it to 55 yards and then adjust the pricing. Not a big deal, though. Pros Fishbowls ability to have great inventory management, order management, and invoicing while being the best value for money is why we like Fishbowl. Along with with eas of integrations into systems like SPS, Amazon, and Shopify. Cons Well atleast in our case any data migration from a current ERP to a new dual system solution can cause risk and complexity with moving the data over. However this is not Fishbowl specific and has been easy to work with them to get started on our integration. ERPs I had in the past did not have many updates if any. Pros The customer support was super helpful with technical issues. They were patient, called back when I couldn't figure out our phone systems. Cons The reporting can be better. Some reports are very modifiable which I enjoy but other are not. Cons The reporting features leave a lot to be desired. I find that most of the time I am exporting large reports that are slow to generate to transform in excel to get the information I am looking for. The learning curve is steep and the occasional system outages can impact our offline workflows greatly. Pros There are a dozen ways to look at data, which is helpful for our many departments. I used to work in order management/customer support and would spend most of my time in the sales windows. Now I am in inventory management and spend most of my time in the manufacturing windows. Having one comprehensive system has made changing departments seamless. Cons It's easy to "overwhelm" FishBowl. If you're working in too many tabs at once, the system often gets slow or freezes. However, I believe it can be overwhelming with the negative talk and gossip at times. Pros One aspect I appreciate about Fishbowl is that everyone has the power to speak freely and honestly. It is a great way to network and also compare salary, tools, managing skills, etc. Cons I do not like the amount of spam notifications that come with Fishbowl. I do not believe the security is up to standards with the amount of notifications I now receive since using. I also believe it to be higher in price compared to other systems. However, I had a really bad user experience, due to wrong data mapping by the jointed task force. Pros It’s a great user-friendly inventory management tool for Windows OS. Despite its UI looking old-fashion, it does the job just fine. Cons Personally, the old-fashioned UI. To elaborate, the UI looks like early 2000s Windows applications, which makes it look old. I had two cases where our data was messed up due to mistake on our end and I contacted Fishbowl and the support team was able to solve our issues in timely manner. Pros Inventory mangement, Export and import. I especially like the fact that the export allows to save in Excel formart. There are also plenty of reports avaible. Cons There is no customer credit (balance) managent, and it is difficult to management payment across sales orders. Although the system has price rules but it doesn't our this simple requirement: setting up a minimum price for a product and any sell price under the minimum can not sold.
