Provision of various payment methods. If you want, you can only use Stripe as the central payment provider. Unfortunately , PayPal, which is still very common, is not supported.

Pros

Stripe offers a very good solution especially for most platforms. While intermediary platforms, such as on-demand business models, usually have to set up complex structures with escrow accounts etc., Stripe can do this directly here. Thanks to the quick setup, excellent customer support and stable service, Stripe Connect launched our platform model many months earlier than would have been possible with "classic" models.

Cons

Stripe is a very versatile provider with a lot of cleverly designed features. Unfortunately, you can also see that in the developer docs. Stripe makes a noticeable effort to cover everything, which unfortunately is not always clear. In many places, the documentation is like a labyrinth with many branches and some features that are no longer up-to-date, as well as related comments. A quick search on something basic like "How do I initiate a transaction with a new customer" can quickly lead to 10 open tabs and a lateral headache. Another problem is the evidence. Although Stripe allows its users to send the coolly designed and automatically created receipts directly to the customer, they do not meet the conditions for a small receipt due to the lack of sales tax information. What initially looks like a small thing quickly becomes problematic here, because it is not possible to add or edit these documents.

Pros

Easy to use and quick to get started. The platform is easy to navigate through. The search function is superb

Cons

We are stuck with using stripe as our primary software only has stripe api connection. that part works flawlessly - however on the other side of the transaction there is the accounting side. the issue is stripe groups multiple transactions together and then deposits them into you bank as a single transaction. Xero does not then allow these transactions to be easily split up in the same way they came in ...The API seems to have severe limitations. Why it is in 2018 that we need third party software to identify whats happening with our credit card merchant payments? Stripe and Xero are 2 of the biggest and supposedly cutting edge softwares out there and yet they can't seem to find a way to talk to one another in a way that allows proper reconciliation. Between my book-keeper and 2 lots of software I probably spend x3 what the Xero subscription costs, just keeping on top of this very basic tedious task of reconciling stripe transactions. Totally ridiculous and enough to make me actively seek alternatives.

### "Stripe Misrepresents It's Features, Horrible Support"

The tax system does not perform as advertised, nor does the top-up, or balance management capabilities. The help system describes (inaccurately) several important features. Because of this, the software doesn't behave the way it is advertised. When you call for support, you end up dealing with an off-shore, under-trained, and maddeningly incompetent service team whose default position is "you are wrong". I've worked in and around the payment processing industry since 1999, and with over 25 years of payment processing experience (processing hundreds of millions of dollars of transactions), I can tell you that STRIPE is overpriced, under-supported, and inaccurate. Users of the software are left in the dark, and without support. STRIPE will hold your money for too long, and not reply to customer service requests promptly. But they will reply to negative reviews promptly. Think about that - they are more concerned that they are perceived as giving great service than they are actually delivering great service.

Pros

It was the only payment processing option to use with our specialty event software provider's system.

Cons

Stripe's lack of transparency about pricing, its lack of accuracy in reporting of transactions such as refunds, it's inability to show accurate transaction logs, and the support and customer service was horrific.

### "An Accounting Nightmare"

It's great right up until you have match up any payment to an order, then it was a disaster. For some reason though, the programming team is in love with this software, probably because it was made by programmers for programmers, and they just give the accountants the proverbial middle finger. If any Controllers are deciding on a credit card processor, do your self a favor and don't even consider this one.

Pros

Everyone except the accounting team seems to like it.

Cons

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain they are the only payment processor that takes their processing fee out of every transaction individually. Then they combine all these partial payment amounts and deposit them all at once into your bank account. This makes for an accounting nightmare. What was once a simple 5 min reconciliation, turns into a multi-day confusing and laborious task. They don't integrate with ANY accounting software well. What I ended up doing was creating a separate Stripe "Cash" account for transactions coming in, then booking the fees into the account, then transfer the batch back into the standard bank account. What was once a process of just identifying the method of payment and reconciling to your bank account, now involves two additional transactions, and extra account and a confusing reconciliation. ### "Excellent platform for build a SaaS app"

So far, the Stripe team has been great and the platform has been very reliable. Most issues we have experienced are generally related to the credit card issuer and not Stripe.

Pros

One of the best APIs out there. Many examples and great customer support make Stripe easy to integrate. A broad feature set allows you to grow into the product as needed. Excellent Partner Program support as well.

Cons

This is not necessarily Stripe's fault as they do their best to shield you as best as possible from changes to the financial / banking networks, but it can be difficult to keep up with these changes as their API is updated to support them (e.g. privacy changes, refund policy changes, etc...).

### "Excellent Payment Processing"

Although Stripe is not our main on site payment processor it is a great addition to our online presence. Stripe allows us to collect a deposit from new clients when they book services themselves. That makes it helpful in reducing no shows. It also allows us to sell services and take payments from our online website store. It's particularly helpful when we run promotions.

Pros

We have integrated Stripe with both our online booking system as well as our online store. It was easy to connect and runs seamlessly. The reporting available is clear and easy to obtain. It also makes it simple to issue a refund should we need to.

Cons

We haven't really found any cons at this point. There can be a delay in funds getting to the bank but that is the same with most processors.

It helps me to collect customer payments internationally along with functionality for automatic transfer of amount to bank account.

Pros

Very easy to set up with almost all the apps which collect payments from customers, as integration with Stripe payments is available on hundreds of apps used across the world. It is easy to set up webhooks for payments via stripe. It has a clean user interface and setting up the account is fast and easy. It has analytics and also makes it easy to keep track of the status of payments. Payments can be set up without the need of development knowledge or much technical know-how. It is ideal for small businesses as they have no monthly charges to use the payment system.

Cons

They should add more functionalities to their mobile app such as cancelling an invoice. You need to set up multiple sub-accounts to have receive money in multiple currencies Their payment processing charges get higher for businesses that receive heavy payments. The stripe payment page has limited customization ability.

### "Stripe work so well for us"

Generally good except for the innaproriate hold backs

Pros

It is easy to use, intuitive for our customers and integrates very well into our web site and with HubSpot. They also have very good fraud detection and can almost without exception stop and fraudulent transactions cold.

Cons

At the start of the Pandemic they began to hold back 25% of our income for 28 days until they would pay it, based on the idea that we may have a lot of chargebacks or refunds because of the pandemic. this has not been true. We have had one Chargeback and did 2 refunds total in the last 9 months, so it seems like they are just holding onto money for no reason. Their system should be able to analyzed our track record and know this is a risk which is not appropriate for our business based on our number of years with Stripe and our perfect track record.

Although not particularly robust, Stripe is simple, easy, and reliable, and when it comes to handling other peoples money that is exactly what I'm looking for. Honest, simlple, easy, reliable!

Pros

Sometimes you just find exactly what you're looking for. When I stumbled upon Stripe it was one of those times. At first I was even skeptical, it sounded way too good to be true, an online payment processor that offered all the features I needed, was easy and intuitive to navigate. I showed it to a friend who told me if its too good to be true its probably a scam. But in this case I've been using Stripe for over five or six years and I couldn't be happier with it. Stripe is easy to use, and efficient. From Stripe, money is deposited directly into my bank account within a matter of a day or two. What's more, the online checkout on my webstore is, thanks to Stripe, very cutting edge looking which adds to costumer trust when purchasing my, not exactly inexpensive, products. I like Stripe. I trust Stripe. And, with the utmost confidence, I highly recommend Stripe.

Cons

When its comes to "Cons," I'm sorry to disappoint but I can really think of very few cons. I suppose my needs are fairly simple, and if my needs were financially more complex I would need a platform with a more robust set of offerings. But that being not the case, I just can't think of many minuses to using Stripe.

Stripe allowed us to get up and running processing payments quickly, and their support has helped us get past any problems we've run into along the way.

Pros

We were attracted to Stripe because of their extremely thoughtful and well-documented API. Stripe typically works as you'd expect as a developer interacting with their API (no small feat), and we're often pleasantly surprised when we go looking for some new feature and find out it already exists. Stripe's support is also top-notch, and the odd time we're unable to accomplish something ourselves we've usually been able to get there with the help of support. The product evolves quickly and keeps getting better.

Cons

There's not much to complain about with Stripe the biggest pain points are usually with things that are somewhere outside of Stripe's control. For example, the process involving customer chargebacks is a bit confusing and rigid, but this is mostly dictated by the requirements of the card issuers Stripe is dealing with.

I have been using Stripe for the last 4-5 years. It is an essential part of my business. I suggest it to all of my clients setting up online payments in any capacity.

Pros

Stripe is super easy to set up and integrates with so many other platforms.

Cons

I looked at using Stripe exclusively for my subscription services but found the Tax Invoice requirements for Australia, and Stripe a bit hit and miss. I decided to use a third party platform to do the invoicing, and just use Stripe as the payment processor. It was easier to make sure all my invoices were compliant.

### "Perfect For My Business"

I LOVE Stripe. So much so that I turned down the provided integrated payment system software that came with my scheduling software. It is so EASY. I can see any information I need quickly. I love the analytics, I love that I can assure my customers that their information is safely stored, I love not having to go back to my customer to get their info again and close out accounts. I have yet to find a down-side.

Pros

Stripe is easy to use and maintain. I can get a variety of reports and analytics. It is easy to keep tabs on what has and has not be entered, check balances and LOW fees, and securely store customer information.

Cons

Using stripe is so simple for me. I am typically technologically challenged, but the provided support information made it a breeze to set up and use. I have no complaints.

My overall experience has been lovely. I will continue to use Stripe and recommend it to my clients. I have my own ecommerce websites and help others build their own and always use you when I can.

Pros

EASE of install! I've been using Stripe for many years now. I first used it for my e-Commerce website MensAccessoriesBox.com and found your system to be the easiest to install onto my Wordpress website and I needed to setup recurring monthly automatic payments for my customers and I had no issues with Stripe. Ease of Use! I can easily see my sales. I can give refunds, I can charge credit cards and setup users directly on stripe. I use stripe now for all my businesses and when I am building an ecommerce website I encourage my clients to use Stripe. 1099 forms - I like that Stripe provides 1099 forms when I made more than a certain amount each year Easy to give refunds and partial refunds Fraud protection is pretty good on basic version

Cons

Invoicing - for a while I couldn't figure out how I could send invoicing thru Stripe, so I used PayPal for that. But I believe you now make that possible and I need to explore that area further. Customer service-Navigating your support area to get to live chat or phone number can be tricky sometimes, requires a few clicks. I wish it was a little easier or offer a live chat bubble on the dashboard and support area right away.

Pros

Stripe has amazing documentation with everything very well detailed and explained. For IT teams, this means we can move fast and do things knowing they will work.

Cons

Stripe charges per dispute instead of chargebacks, which for businesses that have any above average dispute rate, even with a high chargeback win ratio, that makes it considerably more expensive.

### "BEWARE OF Stripe"

BEWARE OF STRIPE! THEY ARE EXTREMELY SHADY AND JUST TOOK MONEY OUT OF OUR BANK ACCOUNT. They almost bankrupted our business. Our private keys were leaked somewhere, no fault of our own, and someone tried to do card testing using our keys. All of the payments were blocked due to our diligence, but stripe froze our account and started blocking all of legitimate payments. No one at stripe would ever help us or give any information regarding how long it would take to get our account running again. We called every day and could never get any information other than a special team was working at it. They also decided to debit our account over $2,000 dollars and just took it out of our bank account. They were very unprofessional and just hung on up us on the phone, wouldn’t respond to emails, and caused our business to be at a standstill. They have acted extremely shady, unprofessional, and we would never use them again under any circumstances. After two weeks of no response, we decided to use another payment processor.

Pros

Nothing. Our experience with them was traumatic almost resulting in the bankruptcy of our business.

Cons

How unprofessional and shady the company was. How they decided to debit money out of our account fraudulently.

### "Customers Are Food, Not Friends"

Awful. If I could count on one hand the number of times I have screamed at my monitor seeing a response from my account manager, support; practically anyone at this organization. We were told we would pay 1x PCR fee per transaction by pricing analysts; and when it turned out that the architecture they recommended produces over 2 PCR requests per transactions? That even failed transactions are billable? No responsibility. The solution doesn't work the way it was advertised? "Check the contract". The worst part is being treated like a child by flippant 20 something account managers who have been reassured that their product is perfect, their customers have no leverage, and that customers enjoy being treated like garbage. After doubling my volume in less than 6 months with the company and asking for a discount, they tried to dupe me in to paying the exact same rate I had been, but "itemized" in to new fees. I was about to sign myself up for another two years of drudgery until my questions were clarified. Outside of the technical organization, which is fantastic, this is an unorganized company headed by overly-empowered tech bro's who's mandate is to take advantage of you when possible, or, at the least, hold the status quo. If you are anything above a small business, run, don't walk away from this company. The technical effort of integration will bind you to them, and once you're there, they've got you. It's time to eat.

Pros

Excellent platform. My developers are very happy, my clients are happy.

Cons

Nothing. The software itself is excellent.

I am in the process of terminating my account with Stripe. It's a joke. The amount of headache and lost business they caused is not worth it. It is easy to set up but after that nothing is easy with Stripe.

Pros

Easy to deploy and has various integrations available

Cons

Allocations are a nightmare. Stripe is taking out their commission and the remaining amount is paid into your account, several client transactions in one payment - reconciliations are extremely difficult and I've never received one invoice from Stripe for their commission. They simply deduct their share and transfer the rest to you without any paper trail. In addition, every time there is a dispute, it is never settled in the seller's favour even when the supporting evidence and paperwork supplied to Stripe clearly shows that the purchase was valid, agreed and approved by the buyer, signed-off by them and the service used by them. The response from Stripe is never in the seller's favour. Finally - it happens at least a few times a month that Stripe rejects the transaction as suspicious and prevents prospects from buying our products. It often happens that clients contact us outside of the Stripe's workflow and finalise payment manually because Stripe is rejecting their cards and by extension is not allowing us to close the sale.

### "Process Payment from Anywhere, Any time!"

Pros

I've been using Stripe for quite a while now and I am very impressed with the overall business and what they offer to clients such as myself. Accepting payment has never been easier. You no longer have to deal with PayPal or cash. Stripe for me is kind of an all in one solution for payment processing. Let's say you have a website selling coffee beans in the United States. Stripe will provide with an easy to set up payment processing gateway for your site. Once it's up, your customers can then purchase from your site 24/7/365 using credit card, debit cards, and whatever other payment options you make available. Stripe does all the heavy lifting for you. They analyze the risk of each transaction, which tremendously help prevent fraud and future headaches. All sales and analytics are presented in a very well designed interface.

Cons

No problems so far. Stripe's been great and a much better service than a few other big names.

### "Good payment processor"

A good tool to manage your payments gives you everything you need in a very organized, simple way. Gives you the flexibility to pay for transactions and no monthly/yearly fees

Pros

I have been using Stripe for many years now and I am very happy with most of their features. It was not difficult to implement but mostly, very easy to use. As soon as you enter the platform, you see a dashboard with a very well organized recap of what's going on with your transactions so you will be updated on the situation at a first sight. Performing transactions (refunds etc) is also very simple. In general, you don't need more than a very short training to start using the platform. So far we haven't had any security issues or problems with the funds. My favorite thing about Stripe is that you are charged for transactional fees and no monthly fees, so we pay for it only when we use it.

Cons

Even if I find their fraud checks good most of the time, I would like the possibility to customize even more fraud alerts and smooth the chargeback resolution projects. In the past few months, we have received some fraudulent transactions from a know fraudulent area and they have been accepted. We have rejected the payment but some more options to personalize fraud rules can be useful Customer service could be more responsive

Pros

It is an easy to use and understand platform, charges low fees compared to other similar platforms. It is accepted by an extensive list of companies to make or receive payments. It has a support with a good predisposition to solve problems.

### "STAY AWAY !"

Stripe will decide to stop your pay-outs with NO reason and NO warning. You will battle them for weeks to try and understand why and get this resolved, without resolution and during that time they will ruin your business as you can't accept payments. You will not be able to speak to a human on the phone and email responses are slow and robotic. I have been with them for 8 years and they treat my company like dirt. DO NOT use them if you care about your business.

Pros

Great rates for processing payments - very fair and transparent and user friendly.

Cons

Integration with shopify is not free there is an extra fee added on but shopify adds the fee on so it isn't stripe's fault but still inconvenient.
