The company was very patient and helpful when we first set up our account - and has been consistently helpful in the years we have been using it. Pros I like that we can manage and track donors, as well as students and parents. I also like that it comes with a forms program - and that we can create forms that map to our constituents. The tech support responses are extremely fast and helpful. Cons There is nothing I don't like about Little Green Light. Reason for choosing Little Green Light The reasons we chose Little Green Light were that it works well for donors and students/parents - and we liked that you pay based on the number of constituents - not based on the number of users. November 30, 2011 5.0 Little Green Light (LGL) is a powerful and extremely effective organizational tool. By offering an intuitive and user-friendly format for data management and board/staff/volunteer connectivity, LGL preserves that most precious of all resources (especially for those of us in the independent sector): time. Thanks to the LGL platform, In the Arena (ITA) is a better organized and more productive outfit, with increased time to spend on the all-important programming and outreach. Plus, the Bicknell brothers are a pleasure to work with! Pros Little Green Light (LGL) has too many virtues to extoll in this small a space. In truth, the best way to see what it has to offer is to jump on the site for a demo, or better yet, to get in touch with one of the two founders of this family-run business: Nick or Chris Bicknell. Given that the two brothers have brought this great product to market in tandem and that they're equally committed to building it out in a user-friendly and customer-interactive manner, it's hard to imagine a better fit for an organization looking for comprehensive donor management tools, database management and project-building. LGL is constantly evolving, adding new features on a regular basis, while it maintains its eminently user-friendly interface. In our experience here at ITA, LGL has offered us a one-stop shopping experience for all of our donor, database, communications and project management. Cons No cons; I'm an unabashed fan. I used a "high-end" donor database for 8 years, and LGL outshines that in ease of data import and managing appeals/segments/mailings/emails. Solid integration with PayPal and MailChimp. LGL Forms is flexible, attractive and well-integrated. Customer support is truly outstanding. I've converted 3 small non-profits to LGL in the last year and highly recommend it. Now we are able to easily see our contacts and donation history in one place, and the ability to use forms to process donations directly into our tracking in LGL has been a total revolution. With public access to the Knowledge Base not buried behind a paywall, I was able to quickly ensure that the software met our needs before even bringing it up to management, and it has made the setup and customization of the software much more simple and direct. With a discounted one year subscription, you shouldn't hesitate to see if LGL will also be the perfect fit for you too! Cons I have run into difficulty integating LGL with our current email manager, Mail Chimp. This is in part due to a multi-audience setup and limit on the number of available contacts in Mail Chimp - which is a problem with Mail Chimp and not entirely due to LGL. December 29, 2016 5.0 I converted my organization's database from FundRaiser in July and have not once regretted my decision. We previously tried to convert to a different database and after 2 days of on-site training with that company, I couldn't even locate a sample record. On the other hand, not only did I (and I'm not a tech person) migrate our entire database myself and merge additional Excel documents in, after only a couple of hours of reading instructions and playing around, I already understood not only how to locate a record but how to enter, report, send an acknowledgement, etc. I occasionally run into things that I can't figure out on my own or by reading the LGL blog but when I reach out to customer service, they respond so quickly and always are able to resolve my issue. I really can't think of anything that can't be done through LGL. We're so happy with it that we're now looking at integrating our payment processing and e-newsletter system so that we have the best data on our constituents possible. I cannot say enough good things about this product. For a small organization like ours with no tech support, this has been a blessing since it is so easy to use and so reasonably priced. Easy to use, lots of customization options and a great knowledge base to help me learn (or remember!) new things I can do with the system. Pros LGL was easy to learn and set up. I love the customization options as well. Cons There are a few suggestions I have shared with LGL team about improving the software, most recently having a dietary restrictions field in the constituent record that will automatically transfer to the event record. Whenever we have a question or issue, the response time for our emailed requests for customer support is excellent. We haven't had to wait more than an hour for a return email with helpful guidance. We are very happy with our experience! Cons A bit more nuance (or perhaps instruction) on how to credit a single donation to multiple contacts would be helpful for couples and for granting organizations or business sponsors. We have couples who sometimes give collaboratively, and sometimes as individuals. Keeping track of that kind of nuance has been our only real challenge in using the software. Cons It's very feature-rich, but it does take awhile to navigate and learn the processes. Would love a way to produce more custom reports using the photo-image field. Pros I have yet to find donor software for less than LGL's price. Lots of features we don't even use because we are small, but many ways to track things, make notes, create lists and reports, track volunteering, etc. Being able to assign tasks to your team is a great feature. Cons The format/look of it is kinda old school or dBase looking vs. smooth and colorful/easy on the eyes. The reports are sometimes difficult to actually tease out the data you want, even if you select the subjects it'll skip over data. LGL has made it possible for us to provide a level of professionalism to our donor community that would be expected from a larger non-profit. We feel we have no limits to growth with LGL. Pros The program is very mature and has almost every feature that you would need as a non-profit. There is good documentation and support is excellent from LGL. I may get stuck but not for long! LGL Forms is an important upgrade and has streamlined many of our tasks. Cons It has a learning curve. While any feature you may seek is there to be found, many of the features are not very intuitive. The UI is not sexy but the application works flawlessly. I will say that the customer support is outstanding and very responsive. Anyone familiar with working with database applications will be comfortable with LGL. Pros LGL is very easy to self-train on, as its features are simple to learn and manage. The system can be set up with personalized features or can be used in its simplest form. Also, because it is all managed online, that makes it easy to manage a virtual office. Cons There is not anything about LGL that I think makes the software less appealing. It's also very easy to generate queries (searches) and create reports based on your constituents or donation reports. Cons Sometimes creating complicated searches and reports are not possible. For example, it's not so easy to create a report based on relationships. Pros It's cloud based, everything can be accessed from the main window. It's affordable, has unlimited online donation forms and has many standard reports needed. I also like the comparison of the last three years and the bulk upload features, especially handy for address changes. You can tell that this software is built by a fundraiser. Cons I like everything except at times it might be helpful to have phone support, although the email support is really good and fast so it's not been a problem. Occasionally it might be good to talk thing through. Pros I liked the dashboard that included all of the financial details immediately when you log in. Cons I didn't like that memberships were so complex in inputting. We have volunteers who couldn't figure out how to manage the system without confusion. We ended up having some data entered in different ways and our database got mixed up.
