For our small company it works very well. Pros I like the fact that you can enter the information into sherware and it puts it into Quickbooks. Cons I can't think of anything that has been a problem. Engineer Oil & Energy Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Does the Job, but extremely buggy" July 10, 2019 2.0 Although it does the job and allows you to keep track of your revenue and expenses but you must be extremely particular when entering any revenues or expenses. The bugs in this software sharpen the learning curve quite a bit but once you figure out all its kinks it can take care of your oil and gas accounting. If the developers were to workout the bugs at a more rapid pace, I feel this can become a solid software. Pros \- Fairly Simple UI - Pretty Decent Owner Management - QB Integration - Bank/ACH functions built-in - Updates & bug fixes Cons \- EXTREMELY BUGGY - Have to be careful and very particular when typing/entering any information because of bugs. - Built in reports aren't always helpful. Custom reporting is EXTREMELY hard and back-end files are all over the place when building custom reports. - Export to excel is very poorly formatted - Huge learning curve because of all the bugs. This program has cut back on the work we have to do each monthly run, and especially at the end of the year getting our 1099's prepared. My for sure preferred oil & gas software now! Pros Once you get setup and going, SherWare is extremely easy to use and has integrated perfectly with QuickBooks software. I love that we no longer have to input the same information into two separate programs. Cons My procrastination in getting it set up for use. Owner/Accounting Used the software for: ### "Great product with many options" February 29, 2016 5.0 I have nothing to compare this software to because when I started in 2000 I had never used any of the competing software programs. I researched many and found this to be most compatible for my situation mostly because of the option to integrate with QuickBooks. I have found that feature to be great when it comes to not having to do duplicate entries in two different programs. Once I started using the software (and by the way, I was a novice to the oil and gas industry), I was relying heavily on the customer support department to help me through the initial trials and tribulations and they were always just a phone call away and able to assist me with all of my issues. I attended several of the seminars they held which just furthered my knowledge of the software and allowed me to gain knowledge on how to view more reports and utilize the software in a more effective matter. Today I don't have to contact support as often as the earlier days however they (customer support) are always quick to answer my questions and help as much as they can with whatever issue and/or issues I am experiencing. I really have no cons that I can think of. I have even made suggestions in the past as to how to improve the software and it was taken in to consideration and even utilized with updates. CPA Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Quickbooks Compatible Oil & Gas Software" July 10, 2019 4.0 Worked well for the companies I was using it for, none of which were large or had a ton of transactions. It is a good option for the price. I also only paid for basic support, and that was never an issue, I always got the help I needed in a timely manner. I have another client who uses a much more expensive software program, I do find that easier to use, but it was not worth the cost for what I needed. Pros Integrates with QuickBooks, and the price. Handles all the basic needs for revenue/well tracking, distributions, and 1099 reporting. It makes my life a lot easier with monthly distributions. I think that the interface could use some updates and I wish it were easier to customize. Pros This software saves me a lot of time each month with investor distributions and I like that it integrates with Quickbooks Cons It is hard to customize without contacting support and they then ask for additional money. PRES. & CEO Used the software for: ### "Was a cust. from 2003,vacated 2011..once fairly priced now too high to re-engage" February 29, 2016 3.0 Sherware,around 2003, became an add-on and sole link with Quick Books.Became the only O&G acctg program to pair-up with QB. Gained QB "seal of approval" Company(Sherware) still suffers from a thorough training guide and product instruction program. In our Tulsa,Ok. area there were only three users which I could find as active to relate with. I hired one lady from Tahlala,Ok. to visit our office but she was one dimensional and couldn't train anyone. Sherware asks a minimum $3500. to upgrade what we have..and, re-engage us as a customer/member. No sale...by me. I would come back as a customer but only on the terms which we can afford. Looks like Sherware have priced yourselves out of range for we former, "fallen-away" clients ! I tried direct dealing by phone..and was basically "dissed" relative to "our way or the highway". You asked for my survey.Think about this. All I want is to use what we have had..and have somebody train our existing accountant, and for any future person in the job. Review Source TN Tammy N. Controller Used the software for: ### "SherWare provides an affordable option for smaller independent oil and gas companies" March 1, 2016 4.0 Pros - SherWare provides the necessary tools for use in the Oil and Gas industry accounting without the cost associated with many other industry programs. By linking with QuickBooks, it allows small to medium-sized companies to account for JIBs, royalties, LOEs and other costs by well, lease and project while still working within an accounting environment they are familiar with and that is user-friendly. Cons - It lacks some of the functionality that would make it easier to use such as the ability to drill down to supporting entries. The report writer, although very powerful, is difficult to use. The best use I have found for it is to pull the data from the program, export it as data only to excel and create a pivot table in excel to manipulate the data. Review Source JW Jenn W. There is still a lot of learning I have to do in the software but I cross those obstacles as they come. Pros The ease of being able to have one run for all of the multiple wells/projects my client has. Cons I have to force a software update a lot. This software simplifies all tasks greatly. Pros It integrates with Quickbooks. I like Quickbooks. Cons The setup was difficult. However it would have been difficult with any software. It tight and seamless integration with Quickbooks allow us to manage our wells, while maintaining accurate financial information and reports. The few times that we have needed their support has been very good. They have always responded in a short time frame and have worked through any issues or questions that we have. It works well with QuickBooks and give all of our working interest and royalty owners good information to go with their checks and at year end. When I started, I remember that making the appropriate connections with QuickBooks accounts was challenging, and even now, some transactions come into QB oddly. Customer Service has always been outstanding, and I have always gotten help quickly to resolve my issues. I have never used any other disbursement software, so I can't make any comparisons. We really like how easy it is to use with Quick Books. It really fits the industry broadly as any off sight software company can.
