Pros: Excellent GUI. Very user friendly. High accuracy and reliability. Has numerous modules for all types of analysis.

Cons: Reading mesh of imported geometry should be worked upon a little bit. Several instances have occurred wherein mesh was not read correctly leading to waste of time.

Overall: ANSYS has gone and made a designer's job easier. I mean,most designers will agree that undertaking analysis the conventional way is, lets be honest, way too tedious in this era. Now ANSYS has gone and made things much simpler for us. And with the user friendly GUI of the Workbench, ANSYS has taken ease and reliability of analysis several notches up.

That being said, it is also to be noted that with the above mentioned user-friendliness inclusions has enhanced the potency of the software. The accuracy and reliability of solutions dished out by the software is spot on.

Also for small to medium sized analysis (which is done most of the time), ANSYS does not take a toll on the PC. Analysis times are quite fast.

Overall a great software to have for analysis, simulations, design optimization, design verification, etc. This, coupled with decades of development of this software makes it one of the must haves for any design organization.

Recommendations to other buyers: A must have for any design organization.

Pros: After working with this vendor for years I can say we have had the best support from them. Most requests are handled without issue and always willing to work with us.

Cons: Learning curve is very steep and even with documentation some of the features need support assistance. I also find it difficult to support each release separately for every user. In most cases it is easier to skip the initial and dot 2 release.

Pros: In addition to all the different types of analysis available to apply in the pieces, you have a really friendly interface. Your pieces can be made in the Ansys DesignModeler program or be imported from other 3D CAD tools. In addition, you have refining tools for meshing to focus on areas of interest, either by its state of charge or its particular shape.

Cons: If the size of the element chosen in the meshes is very small, the simulation can take an excessive time. The issue would be related to the processing capacity of the computer.

It is required to have knowledge of the finite element methodology, to conceptually understand what you are applying in the program.

Overall: During my mechanical engineering studies, the subjects I most enjoyed were "computer-aided design" and "Finite Element Method". For this reason my thesis was oriented in the line of mechanical design, "design of a pin-on-disk friction machine", you can apply load states on pieces of interest, determine their stresses, deformations, safety factor, fatigue, buckling between others. In the same way, repeat the process until achieving the convergence of results, redefining the meshes on a particular element. It is simply incredible.

Pros: The wide availability of elements for any particular usage and the reliable solver are the major plus points. Variety of boolean operations are very easy to use.

Cons: The post processing is not user friendly. The contours and graphs displayed are in old fashioned style. The scriptting is also not comfortable to use.

Overall: Quick analysis.

This software really changed the way we design our equipment.

Pros: ANSYS really changed the way we model our equipment, vibratory machinery. Until now we were relying primarily on our experience and expertise. With modal analysis, we were able to identify problems that weren't obvious before. This in return helped us to optimise our constructions and be more competitive on the market.

Cons: The software is great but it is also as good as the engineer who is interpreting the results. Some areas of the software still need to be improved like the mesh generator.

Overall: For our company its the construction optimisation and problem-solving where we have benefited most.

Pros: gives powerful structure analysis options in relatively user friendly environment. You will not find easier to use mechanical FEA software that grows in useful features with each release - for example topology optimization in v18 is really what most of mechanical engineers were waiting for in FEA tool.

Cons: quite limited meshing options (very often do not recognize simple sweep geometries and created tetra mesh)

not always intuitive (cross sections are nightmare, especially when you want to use 2 section planes)

Overall: great FEA software, that keeps getting better

Pros: This software has so many capabilities. It can be used to simulate simple beam bending problems, as well as much more complex problems like bridges and cyclic loading problems. If you get good with the command bar, you can just edit code, and read from the file to run through problems quickly. The help menu is a life-saver.

Cons: Not everything is intuitive, and with no "undo" button, it can be frustrating. Getting used to the commands takes a little time. Navigating through the drop-down lists takes lots of time.

Overall: Can be used to solve so many different types of mechanical and structural problems.

Pros: The realism in the simulation models of this software are incredible, since they are very close to reality. The available controls allow to evaluate any variable and part that is desired. It has the option of optimizing results to reach a response that improves the performance of what is being designed and tested.

Cons: The complexity of the software makes the learning curve quite slow, despite the support found on the internet, some terminology must be known before using the software and it is not described very well in some cases.

Overall: It has allowed me to simulate and improve some designs that were assigned to me as a project in a university class. Personally I have used it but its complexity means that every time I have to study the software a bit more to use some available tool

Pros: This software is constantly being improved to catch up with the changes in the field of physics based modeling and simulations.

Cons: It can be improved in terms of being more user-friendly. Specifically in the modules for building the geometry.

Overall: I have used ANSYS for structural, electrical and thermal analysis. I have also had multi-physic simulations with combination of these.

This is a wonderful suite to perform precise simulation and get accurate results with multiple cores

Pros: 1.) Its topology optimization in a latest update provides accurate results against shape optimization in old versions.

2.) This saves time when running multiple computes to get your desired mesh.

Cons: 1.) It requires a wealth of knowledge and experience including theoretical &

practical.

2.) It costs high for learners and does not provide access to full set of tools.

Pros: I like that there is varied functionality built into the same interface. I like being able to build a model in the workbench and then perform finite element analysis on it in the same software package rather than transferring the model to some other software. The FEA simulations are pretty straightforward to set up and get running.

Cons: It can be a little buggy. A coworker and I could run the exact same simulation on the exact same model and end up with different results. Not always sure what the issues are, but could potentially be improved with more user testing.

Overall: Overall good, it's the software I learned finite element analysis on and still my platform of choice for that type of work. It's not my preferred software for 3D modeling, but if I'm doing modeling in conjunction with analysis, then I do prefer ANSYS mechanical.

Pros: Contains multiple analysis suite packages for all types of analysis; static, dynamic, structural, thermal, model, flow, etc..

Cons: Not easy to use at first. Need to understand the setup and process of the analysis to actually run a creditable study

Pros: The Ansys mechanical Suite allow to analyze complex systems in a easy way, with a lot of possibilities and materials library. Is powerful, easy to use, and easy to integrate with other solutions in and ouside of the suite

Cons: Maybe the price, and web or mobile app for sharing data and export data results. Also if you need to use muti core solver you need to paid for it.

Pros: It forms part of the workbench interface, which allows this module to be linked with another tools without problems.

It offers the possibility of evaluating stresses and deformations under static and dynamic loads that can present both linear and non-linear effects.

Cons: It has an outdated graphical interface that does not facilitate the use of the program.

The complexity of the problems studied in this program requires that the user dedicate some time to learn how to use the software well.

Overall: It allowed me to develop an important part of my university thesis, serving as a professional tool to study the mechanical behavior of the material studied and validate my previous simulations.

Pros: Easy program to use. Various engineering topics. Fluids, stresses and deformations, static systems and dynamic systems.

Cons: This is a difficult program to learn. It is a bit expensive program. Many options must be configured.

Overall: confidence in the results. Simulations easy to program. For basic simulations the response time is fast. This helped me in my degree

Pros: One of the best softwares for FEA, and one of the best for engineerings. The main pro, is the ammount of features that you have, because there are a lot of software in one, that allows you to connect between them.

Cons: As they have a lot of software into it, it's hard to really uses them all, you have to choose wisely.

Pros: I really like it's different modeling tools, easy to use and understandable. Good capacity for handling large data.

Cons: It's user interface is little bit complex compare to its competitor software's like solidworks and catia

Pros: Number of options offered for analysis and simulations in engineering.

The software can be used in many engineering fields.

Ideal for thermal , vibrations, fluids, structural analysis and many others.

Cons: It is expensive software.

Not recommended for design modeling.

The interface is a little complicated to use.

Because it is a compilation of several softwares has different nomenclatures.

Pros: The solver is robust and the user interface is easy to understand and manipulate once you are familiar with it. Our results have been highly successful when validated in the field.

Cons: For a new user, it can be difficult to learn. It is also quite expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

Pros: ANSYS mechanical is relatively intuitive. The results that the software displays are great in that they are very concrete and useful for research.

Cons: ANSYS may sometimes display error messages that are a bit unexplainable. Unfortunately, this makes the experience a bit more negative.

Pros: It is a very powerful and versatile tool. I have used it for both thermal and mechanical analysis. There is also some useful online support from the community.

Cons: The learning curve was very steep for me. It took a very long time to develop useful models applicable to my work.

Pros: If you can simplify models into easy shapes, the FEA software can simulate very effectively. Ansys can even extend into Heat Transfer FEA which has been specifically useful to me.

Cons: The CAD side of Ansys feels clunky and confusing. If you can learn where the tools are, then it's not too bad, but the learning curve (as with any CAD) can be pretty steep.

Pros: Wide range of options for Finite Element Analysis

Overall: ANSYS is an amazing software for my simulation needs. I have a huge library of options to apply to whatever project I work with. I have successfully utilized this software to simulate Computational Fluid Dynamics and Von Mises.

ANSYS offers reliable data, and I recommended it to anyone for product improvement or research and development.
