“TUI is the best way to use all features of Fluent”

OverallANSYS Fluent is my primary tool for CFD. It has a better correlation with physical world. Always we see most similar results between CAE and Test.
ProsANSYS Fluent is a well-known CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Software in the industry. It's using by wide-range of companies from automotive, aviation, defense, marine, agriculture, chemistry, ...etc. industries. It has a well oriented graphical user interface (GUI). You can easily set the type of CAE analyses and boundary conditions. If you need a quick setup for your CAE case, you should use Text-User-Interface (TUI). You should write your commands into a text file and execute on the computing cluster. That's the easy way to run an analysis.
ConsIt is so hard to debug the TUI errors. You could spend much resource (CPU) for this kind of stuff because it takes so long time.

“Robust FEA software for modeling and experimental verification”

OverallGetting past the initial learning curve of knowing how to properly setup a simulation, without over-constraining the system, can be quite frustrating. But when done properly, with help from experts and online resources, the end results can be extremely valuable for research and design applications in engineering, and can help guide future design improvements.
ProsThe numerous features available in ANSYS make it essential for design verification and modeling. As a graduate researcher, designing a new experimental apparatus necessitates knowing the potential loading that will be imposed on the system, and even the flow field analysis (checking for laminar flow). ANSYS provides enough online resources to quickly learn how to create a model, create an adequate mesh, and setup the proper boundary and load conditions for the analysis. The end results have aided in improving engineering designs. I highly recommend learning and being exposed to ANSYS early as an engineer.
ConsThe overall interface is not that user-friendly at first. A lot of the different setup parameters, whether meshing, boundary conditions, load conditions, physical constants, or mesh type, are all often found on their own separate drop-down window, which makes navigating between different settings and properly setting up the model quite confusing at first. The built-in modeling functions are also not robust enough to model anything complex. It is definitely recommended to import a model from a devoted CAD program.

“ANSYS Workbench is just amazing”

OverallANSYS has gone and made a designer's job easier. I mean,most designers will agree that undertaking analysis the conventional way is, lets be honest, way too tedious in this era. Now ANSYS has gone and made things much simpler for us. And with the user friendly GUI of the Workbench, ANSYS has taken ease and reliability of analysis several notches up. That being said, it is also to be noted that with the above mentioned user-friendliness inclusions has enhanced the potency of the software. The accuracy and reliability of solutions dished out by the software is spot on. Also for small to medium sized analysis (which is done most of the time), ANSYS does not take a toll on the PC. Analysis times are quite fast. Overall a great software to have for analysis, simulations, design optimization, design verification, etc. This, coupled with decades of development of this software makes it one of the must haves for any design organization.
ProsExcellent GUI. Very user friendly. High accuracy and reliability. Has numerous modules for all types of analysis.
ConsReading mesh of imported geometry should be worked upon a little bit. Several instances have occurred wherein mesh was not read correctly leading to waste of time.
Recommendations to other buyersA must have for any design organization.

“Well developed software for engineers”

OverallWe were doing the projectile impact, depth of penetration and brittle material analysis in ANSYS. It is a good software for the simulation of plastic and brittle materials. It provides easy tools to perform analysis. The only area it lacks in postprocessing.
ProsThe user interface of the software is very good. It has all the tools to perform Explicit and Implicit Analysis. Mesh generation is easy to use and in the newer version, you can easily create complex geometry. Good software to analyze brittle materials.
ConsThe material library is not that updated for explicit materials and it could have been improved. Apart from that, there are fewer tools for postprocessing and it could have been improved. Postprocessing is the most important part of the analysis and ANSYS has some limitations in postprocessing.

“Fantastic software for engineering simulations”

OverallI have used ANSY's for static & dynamic analysis. Tried a lot learn in the beginning correct but then it's now easy to process any analysis at work.
ProsAny type of analysis can be done for engineering simulations. It helped a lot during college projects and now continues at work. Integration with different modeling programs improved a lot.
ConsIt's not an easy software so takes sometime to get experienced. But then simulations, CAE works get really easy after learning phase.

“Helpful for engineering simulations”

OverallIt's a great software for especially engineers that need simulations and calculations to resolve for their problems.
ProsI'm using ANSYS since college as it helped a lot with my engineering projects and now I continue at work for mechanical and structural analysis now.
ConsWhen I get an error for analysis, I can't find the reason easily. There are huge tutorials for the software but it's not so easy to find the problems solutions.

“ANSYS review”

OverallANSYS has helped me to optimize in the drawing field and make high quality drawings.
ProsIt has a great feature of designing and modelling of your need. It also has online tutoring about drawing if the user don't know how to use the software. This software has very high accuracy.
ConsAlthough it is a great designing software, but there can be still some improvement in the structure modelling part. Everything except this is awesome.

“Great support”

ProsAfter working with this vendor for years I can say we have had the best support from them. Most requests are handled without issue and always willing to work with us.
ConsLearning curve is very steep and even with documentation some of the features need support assistance. I also find it difficult to support each release separately for every user. In most cases it is easier to skip the initial and dot 2 release.

“An effective, friendly and reliable mechanical component simulation tool.”

OverallDuring my mechanical engineering studies, the subjects I most enjoyed were "computer-aided design" and "Finite Element Method". For this reason my thesis was oriented in the line of mechanical design, "design of a pin-on-disk friction machine", you can apply load states on pieces of interest, determine their stresses, deformations, safety factor, fatigue, buckling between others. In the same way, repeat the process until achieving the convergence of results, redefining the meshes on a particular element. It is simply incredible.
ProsIn addition to all the different types of analysis available to apply in the pieces, you have a really friendly interface. Your pieces can be made in the Ansys DesignModeler program or be imported from other 3D CAD tools. In addition, you have refining tools for meshing to focus on areas of interest, either by its state of charge or its particular shape.
ConsIf the size of the element chosen in the meshes is very small, the simulation can take an excessive time. The issue would be related to the processing capacity of the computer. It is required to have knowledge of the finite element methodology, to conceptually understand what you are applying in the program.

OverallIt is a helpful software though it can be more user-friendly.
ProsIt gives reliable simulation results before manufacturing a device. At each version tries to solve the software problems.
ConsSketching a system is harder compare than similar software. The user's help document is not practical because of lacking enough examples.

OverallThis software is a very helpful software for my daily job. I use ANSYS structural for my FEA analysis. This software provides me a very good result with few errors.
ProsThis software has one of the best hyper-elastic material analysis. ANSYS Structural provides the best FEA result. Curve fitting option is best in this software.
ConsTransition between tetra and hexa mesh can be difficult.

“ANSYS and Geometry Optimization”

OverallI have used ANSYS and its geometry optimization tool. I have been involved in developing software packages which uses ANSYS as the solver.
ProsI liked the feature that ANSYS has added to the Workbench for geometry optimization.
ConsI belive the modeling part of ANSYS can be improved to be more user friendly, so that it would be much easier to use the powerfull tools that ANSYS provides.

OverallQuick analysis.
ProsThe wide availability of elements for any particular usage and the reliable solver are the major plus points. Variety of boolean operations are very easy to use.
ConsThe post processing is not user friendly. The contours and graphs displayed are in old fashioned style. The scriptting is also not comfortable to use.

“Makes engineering decissons easier...”

ProsAnsys WB is quite complex tool with multiple modules. You can make any of the engineering calculations (simulations) here. It works with finite element method. It has too many modules as I only know solid and fluid modules I use them on my both academical studies and design business.
ConsIt is really complex, deep as ocean! Especially if you are working on the remote areas of engineering, it could be a night mare. Customer support knows basics that is OK however they can not always support you on your deep and complex problems. Also on Fluent module is not really capable for "mass transfer".

“A useful product for many types of analysis”

OverallI use it in both work & educational studies widely, while solving vehicle system problems coming from the field. Before making any physical changes, I can first run an analysis to see the results which saves time and money.
ProsIt has too many different tools embedded which allows one to perform different types of analyses ranging from structural to CFD, or even electrical and thermal management. One can also create his/her own models and use the meshing tool without needing any other application.
ConsSome of its tools allocates too much memory of computer while some other tools do not, which appears to be an optimization issue.

“Best engineering analysis and simulation software”

OverallOverall it's great software. Once you get your hands on it, you get your problems solved in no time. I'm currently using this software for my BE project in mechanical engineering.
ProsI loved Meshing tool and graphics shown in modelling. Software has different analysis options like structural,vibration,thermal,fluid analysis and many more. I have used this software for structural and thermal analysis mainly. Great use in Finite Element Analysis. It saves time of experimentation.
ConsThe hard part is to learn all about this software and its features. It's not easy to use and it's bit of expensive software.

“This software really changed the way we design our equipment.”

OverallFor our company its the construction optimisation and problem-solving where we have benefited most.
ProsANSYS really changed the way we model our equipment, vibratory machinery. Until now we were relying primarily on our experience and expertise. With modal analysis, we were able to identify problems that weren't obvious before. This in return helped us to optimise our constructions and be more competitive on the market.
ConsThe software is great but it is also as good as the engineer who is interpreting the results. Some areas of the software still need to be improved like the mesh generator.

“great FEA software”

Overallgreat FEA software, that keeps getting better
Prosgives powerful structure analysis options in relatively user friendly environment. You will not find easier to use mechanical FEA software that grows in useful features with each release - for example topology optimization in v18 is really what most of mechanical engineers were waiting for in FEA tool.
Consquite limited meshing options (very often do not recognize simple sweep geometries and created tetra mesh) not always intuitive (cross sections are nightmare, especially when you want to use 2 section planes)

“HAVING SOME GOOD AND BAD FEATURES”

OverallANSYS Fluent is the best program in the market.I think there isn't any good alternative for fluent analysis
ProsThe calculation time is quite good ,I was using another program ,it took 2 times from Ansys Fluent. Flexibility is another good point ,I can add c++ codes inside the program.
ConsIt always gives a result even if I entered a silly numbers ,it always calculates a number and does not give an error so I always get a result but other programs such as preprocessor gambit always gives an error and you adjust your mesh or other silly numbers.

“Ansys model the world ”

OverallI overall I'm very satisfied with this software and would definitely use it.
ProsAbility to solve problems of any kind of difficulty. I use it for heating system simulation and the plots it produces are perfect. Also such simulation can partially replace real experiments.

“This can be a frustrating software to use, but has lots of features.”

OverallCan be used to solve so many different types of mechanical and structural problems.
ProsThis software has so many capabilities. It can be used to simulate simple beam bending problems, as well as much more complex problems like bridges and cyclic loading problems. If you get good with the command bar, you can just edit code, and read from the file to run through problems quickly. The help menu is a life-saver.
ConsNot everything is intuitive, and with no "undo" button, it can be frustrating. Getting used to the commands takes a little time. Navigating through the drop-down lists takes lots of time.

“I knew this software for a University course, it's amazing to perform simulations”

OverallIt has allowed me to simulate and improve some designs that were assigned to me as a project in a university class. Personally I have used it but its complexity means that every time I have to study the software a bit more to use some available tool
ProsThe realism in the simulation models of this software are incredible, since they are very close to reality. The available controls allow to evaluate any variable and part that is desired. It has the option of optimizing results to reach a response that improves the performance of what is being designed and tested.
ConsThe complexity of the software makes the learning curve quite slow, despite the support found on the internet, some terminology must be known before using the software and it is not described very well in some cases.

“Not perfect but best for many analysis”

OverallWorking as a mechanical engineer I was simulating a fluid flow with particles in a pipe.
ProsI used ANSYS Workbench to perform many analysis on complex fluid flow problems with a temperature gradient to calculate the stress on the pipe.
ConsANSYS can crash pretty easily and lose the current analysis or mesh that was processing. Having a machine with high specs counters this well

“Ansys description”

OverallI have used Ansys in some of my projects like CFD simulation and I must say that the results i have helped me a lot in my job.
ProsI mostly like in Ansys import geometry from other parts of softwares.I can import easly geometry in different file.Another thing is Meshing geometry.To mesh geometry is very simple and you can increase resolution of cells very fast .
ConsI like more Ansys CFX because is very flexible in running Turbomachinery case studies and I can change parameters very fast and take high quality results.

OverallI have worked with SolidWorks for design 3D models. But when it comes to simulation Solidworks have very limited options. Then seniors suggest me to use ANSYS for the simulation purposes. More advanced simulations can be modelled with ANSYS. It is a great tool. Plenty of tutorials can be found online. Correctly following the design steps will lead to successful simulation.
ProsThis tool is recommended by most of the professional experts for the simulation of 3D models. Basic operations are very similar to ordinary CAD tools. Advanced simulations can be modelled and simulated. Lot of tutorials and documentation are available on the internet.
ConsIt requires basic mechanical engineering knowledge there for not much suitable for beginners. Highly advanced tool than other CAD tools. Simulations require a lot of processing power and time. Therefore it is hard to run simulations on Laptops.

“Reliable CFD Analysis Tool For Vehicle Body Design”

OverallWe are using Fluent to create a flow model of vehicle dynamic in order to obtain related air resistance and improve our vehicle body design. It's quite useful and reliable, general results are %98 identical with wind tunnel results which are measured via tools.

Prospowerful - no competitor can compete with this environment. It's best when it comes to user friendly design, performing actual calculation on server and when doing postprocessing.
Consdefinitely price tag is rather high. it probably is not that accessible for small business because of that.

“With ANSYS, you don't need to fear complex analysis ”

OverallIt is a perfect assistant for applications such as simulations, analysis, , design verification, etc. I have used ANSY's mostly for static, dynamic and thermal analysis. It was challenging to learn to use this software, but after getting hang of it, making complex analysis became relatively easy task.
Pros+ It makes possible modelling and solving many kind of engineering application in a practical way and short period of time. + The results that is provided are accurate and reliable. + It has integration with other modelling and design software. + Tutorials are really helpful.
Cons- It takes so much effort to be good at ANSYS. -It is challenging to make a sketch for complex designs. That makes user have to resort to other design software such as Solidworks etc. When I get an error, I can hardly find the reason for this error.

OverallThe best FEA software for Structural analysis and highly recommended for engineers and researchers.
ProsAs a civil engineer, ANSYS helps me a lot for my research works during my final year academic period. The GUI is pretty simple and user-friendly. There are plenty of online learning materials available on the internet and it is the best tool for creating a mesh and doing finite element analysis(FEA). The run time for the final results is acceptable when compared to the other softwares like Abacus and etc.
ConsA little bit expensive software in terms of pricing. Still, need some improvements in some specific areas.

“ANSYS mechanical review”

OverallOverall good, it's the software I learned finite element analysis on and still my platform of choice for that type of work. It's not my preferred software for 3D modeling, but if I'm doing modeling in conjunction with analysis, then I do prefer ANSYS mechanical.
ProsI like that there is varied functionality built into the same interface. I like being able to build a model in the workbench and then perform finite element analysis on it in the same software package rather than transferring the model to some other software. The FEA simulations are pretty straightforward to set up and get running.
ConsIt can be a little buggy. A coworker and I could run the exact same simulation on the exact same model and end up with different results. Not always sure what the issues are, but could potentially be improved with more user testing.

“An app with Cad modelling, CFD, testing etc”

OverallI do like the software more than solidworks but not better than creo, but it's a good software for the working you need to do with lots of functions in it.

It's easy to use once you study it It is made for professionals but beginners too can find fun with it

“excellent software for fluid dynamics”

Overallexcellent software would recommend it other others and businesses.
Proswhat I liked the most about the software is the end result once you have proceed your design and want to check how the fluid dynamic works on it example in a car park how the smoke extract will work and remove smoke and fumes. this is the best part seeing that your design works and this can be used as evidence that in the real world it should work.
Consit is very complicated and time consuming, if you don't have a super computer it can take ours to run the program .

“Robust FEA software for modeling and experimental verification”

ProsANSYS provides a wide array of tools to help model complex systems. Whether it be structural analysis for loaded parts (ANSYS mechanical , or computational fluid dynamics simulations (ANSYS Fluent), ANSYS gives users confidence that they can verify their designs quite accurately. ANSYS also provides many examples and documentation online to help learn the basics of the software, as well as more advanced modeling techniques.
ConsAs is expected with such a robust software, the learning curve for any new user is quite steep. Navigating the multitude of menu layers is not intuitive at first. The built in CAD modeling package in ANSYS is also not nearly as useful as more dedicated CAD softwares, such as Solidworks or Creo. It would be nice to not always have to import a model into ANSYS when the design gets a bit too complex.

“Good job, ANSYS!”

ProsI've always used ANSYS Workbench and APDL (up to some extent) in the past and what I really like about these two is that it gives the user to define and model the elements in a FEA problem in great detail. This in turn leads to higher reliability of the results.
ConsThe geometric modeling of the ANSYS Workbench isn't that great as it does not offer the flexibility in modeling the part, thus rendering ANSYS Workbench a fairly good analysis tool.

“Intiutive and Strong Multi-Physics Software”

OverallI have used ANSYS to simulate deformation and thermal protrusion in nanometer scale in the presence of an embedded micro-heater elements. The simulation results show good agreement with experimental results.
ProsThe software allows to solve multi-Physics problems from mechanical deformation, heat transfer, to computational fluid dynamics. ANSYS Workbenchs is a great platform for pre-processing, meshing, and post-processing procedure that makes the software very intuitive and easy to use.
ConsToo expensive and it has limited number of nodes/elements for students.
