The kids being able to interact with each other really makes it the best of the best. Pros I love ClassDojo. I think the way students can interact with each other after school hours really gives it an extra edge compared to other apps for students. Cons I love ClassDojo, however I did not like how it does not let parents message other parents. It requires the teacher to initiate the message or create a group. Review Source AG Ashley G. It’s a great app for classrooms and sports teams alike. I had even used it in past summer art programs. The parents love that the chat feature is similar to texting directly and I love that I can get messages quickly without sharing my phone number. Pros It is the easiest and quickest way to communicate with parents and families while still maintaining your privacy as a teacher and not sharing your own phone number on social media contact. I also love the ability to post pictures and videos showing parents what goes on in our classroom on a daily basis. It does allow some student functions and private chat features that are imperative to have these days. This platform would not work so well for older students in my opinion and didn't really seem to go above and beyond for a desired long-term communication use. Pros I mostly like ClassDojo because my daughter enjoys it. She can't wait to come home from school to see my reaction to any pictures, bulletins or teacher comments. This platform also appeals to my daughter because it allows for her to personally custom a cute avatar as her icon. I like any educational tool that gets my child excited to use it and excited to perform in an exemplary manner at school. Cons I least liked ClassDojo's limited functions for non paying users. It doesn't really seem warranted to put money into something that would not deliver premium features. Saving pictures was also another issue that made me less interested in this software. At the end of a school year all student pictures aren't accessible without saving them previously or without a pay account. Review Source TS Tim S. So did parents. It's a great tool that parents, students, and teacher will enjoy to use. Pros So this not just an ordinary classroom management tool, it has a lot more to it. But it is great to organize class work and classroom management. Also, the students love using the mini-game that is in it. They love to build worlds. So not only is it great for teacher use in classroom management, students love it too. Cons I can't find a con other than maybe a cost to it. It is not free that I know of. Features are awesome for busy parents and teachers. Pros My kids have used ClassDojo since kindergarten (a total of 5 years). I appreciate that ClassDojo is geared towards parent but Kids seem to love it as well. With the app you can chat privately with multiple teachers. You also has a class feed where you can see all of the activities/pictures the teacher has uploaded. The class feed really brings the parents together! I love how there is a point system as well. This feature really helped my son with some behavioral issues in 1st grade. Cons My only complaint with Class Dojo is that there is a upgraded version you can pay for. I believe with it being an educational app the school recommends they should maybe cover the cost. I love the app because i get to see what my host kid is doing on a daily bases. It helps me keep track of all her homework she has to do especially on her remote school days. Pros It has features like showing us a child's progress at school, giving them chores and tells the parent if the child did good or not. It also provides information on what the teachers want the parents to be informed of on a daily bases. Parents are able to interact with the teachers as they post on a daily bases of what the kids are doing and I love that! I also appreciate being informed on the message app about any important information on a student fro example if the student had not completed a certain section of homework that they need to by its due date. Cons I cant really say that i have a least favorite thing to say about the app...other than its a great to to use, especially for parents and teachers to be able to communicate easily with one another. It would be great to add more languages onto the app as some parents or nanny's who use the app might not be so good at understanding English. It would be great to add a better rewards system for kids who cannot attend school on a specific day due to being ill or sick, and the child can catch up or do all activities that needed to be done on that day. My son's teacher has awarded him points each day since school began. ( One week ago) He is very excited to collect points for rewards! I have been able to message his teacher on the spur of the moment to inform her about a forgotten paper at home as well as to remind her to check his backpack for classroom supplies I gifted to her. Upcoming events and assignments are posted on the class update page making it easy to plan ahead and stay organized!!!! The cost is well worth having the Plus version. I get so many extra features for such a little monthly cost. You can actually pay upfront for the while year and it brings the monthly cost to less than five dollars a month! There is a free trial but you are not going to part with this software once you use it so the free trial is unnecessary! Pros Continuously evolving! I had previous experience with this software but my son is older now and his teachers no longer use this app/software. My youngest just started school and I am pleased that his teacher is using ClassDojo! it is even better than I remember it and I was excited about it back then! The free version gives you the instant Real Time Talk feature. This is like a text type feature that allows you to talk back and forth with the teacher instantly. I have already used it three times in the first week of school! In addition the free version gives you access to the dashboard where you can find your child's "story". In this section the teacher can give points for good behavior such as "being ready to learn" and "staying on task". There is a monster avatar that the children can use the points to buy features and accessories for. The dashboard also allows you to see class updates, photos and announcements. The desktop version gives you access to all of the above features. If you download the app available for android as well as Iphones, you can award your child points at home for completing homework or other good behavior. The children can customize their monster and you can set goals for the week. If you buy ClassdDojo Plus for less than eight dollars a month you get even more features such as Progress Reports, unlimited points to award your child, extra monster parts that your child can earn that are not available with the free version. It's one of the best programs that I have ever used as a teacher. It helps parents and teachers to stay in contact throughout the day. It helps motivate students to work to their full potential. Pros ClassDojo is one of the best software teachers have available for their classrooms. Every school district should have this integrated. I like most that I can keep parents informed about their students throughout the day. I love that I can upload pictures of the students working on assignments. I have noticed that parents love being able to see what we are doing for the day. I also like that parents can participate by giving their children points for doing activities around the house. It does not have to be things for school but things like going to bed, cleaning up toys, or eating dinner. Cons Absolutely nothing. I can not think of one negative thing to say about ClassDojo. And it helped with formative assessments. But, ultimately, I stopped using it and went back to just using index cards. However, I think that I'm not the target for this app and that teachers of younger students would love it! Pros This app was recommended to me to help with class participation in the classes I teach. I wanted to be able to keep track of what students were accomplishing in real time. Some examples of things I wanted to track were answering a question correctly, answering a question incorrectly but persisting to get the right answer, helping another student, or asking an insightful question. Basically, I wanted to use this to help with formative assessments in my classes. I felt like documenting these thing in real time would give me data that would help me teach better, identify issues that students had frequently, and report information to parents or administrators if something came up. Cons I used it for several years, and it was OK. Setting up the categories that I wanted to keep track of took some time but it wasn't too hard. And, I was able to copy categories among classes. I also found it someone easy to set up classes. But actually using it wasn't fast enough for me. I had to click 3-4 times to document one thing. I thought it would be quicker. I can see younger students finding it cute that the little icon wiggles before the pop up appears. But I wanted something faster. I never felt comfortable having my students or parents download it and use it because it looks so juvenile. I wish there were different themes to choose. I just wouldn't be taken seriously as a teacher if they saw some of the art! I also wished that I could have had more flexibility with naming students and arranging them on the screen. ClassDojo has helped me in catching up with my child's education process. While I'd love to sit down and talk about my child's daily activities, that is something not interesting to do for my child. With ClassDojo, I can get the latest updates, photos, scores etc from his daily activities and we spend family times doing things my child love the most: playing board games. Pros ClassDojo is an excellent application which gather teachers, students and parents in one friendly environment. Teachers can create virtual class, assign task and give scores to the students. They can also send reports, photos and messages to parents through the message service. ClassDojo's interface is similar to a social media, thus familiar to everyone. ClassDojo has made it possible for teachers, students and parents to communicate in positive online environment. This environment will connect school activities with parental guidance at home, increasing the parental engagement on the students' education process. Cons It would be great if ClassDojo allows users to determine custom size for their graphics/photos. At this moment, most of the graphics in ClassDojo required to be square-sized. The other important aspect of this product is the ability to communicate with parents. It is wonderful. Cons Recently, they’ve added some bells and whistles. Sounds great, right? Wrong! They’re starting to charge parents! Not cool, man. Reason for choosing ClassDojo PBIS Rewards only tracks positive behaviors. In a perfect world, that would be fine.
