January 25, 2019 5.0 Positively rewarding and motivating students Pros Class Dojo is like a teacher's digital classroom management assistant! There's lots to love! - First, it's free. Who doesn't like free? - Next, it's extremely user-friendly. Within 15 minutes you can set-up and learn to navigate the features and layout. In just 5 more minutes, you can roll it out to your classroom. Teacher's are already lacking time, and the simplicity of this platform is wonderful. - It's versatile! You can use it systematically as an everyday part of your lesson - managing and tracking behavior and learning data or you can use it for a much less intensive purpose like tracking time, adding audio cues for your students, keeping a scoreboard during a game, etc. - Parents can link with their students to learn more. This creates a paperless communication system between the student and home. - They've recently added a digital portfolio piece for students. I'm still new and exploring, but this looks to be a powerful addition that students/teachers could use for creating and sharing assignments (reducing paper). It seems to also have built-in features (activities), too. Excited to learn more! - Last but not least, I suppose my favorite, yet simple, reason I love ClassDojo is that it just reminds me to be positive. I can focus on the positive I see in students and reward and reinforce their positive behavior. Cons This is not a con to ClassDojo, but just an observation - ClassDojo will not solve all of your classroom management issues. It is not a quick, easy fix, so don't view it that way. You have to carefully consider usage if you want this to be a main ingredient in your classroom. In that train of thought, it could cause students to act even more negatively because they're now able to gain a bigger audience and receive more attention. February 6, 2026 5.0 I love it! The families love it! It’s a great app for classrooms and sports teams alike. I had even used it in past summer art programs. The parents love that the chat feature is similar to texting directly and I love that I can get messages quickly without sharing my phone number. I love being able to communicate with my childs teacher through the message feature and I love being able to see whats going on at her school. Pros I have been using Class Dojo every since my daughter started school. Its a great way to stay in the know, concerning school delays, picture days, etc. Cons I love everything about Class Dojo, all except not being able to reward my child more then 3 dojo points unless I upgrade my account. It helps me keep track of what my daughter is doing in her classroom. Pros ClassDojo is the perfect application for parents and teachers to interact. Teachers can easily give parents updates on how their child is progressing in class. Teachers can upload pictures of the students, they can keep track of assignments, and they can give students points for doing activities around the classroom and at home. My child is in elementary school and her teacher has ClassDojo. Every day my daughter wants me to check how many points she received each day. It feels like a game for them. I like that, as a parent, I can give her points for brushing her teeth, eating all her food, and going to bed each night. ClassDojo helps motivate my daughter to do well in everything she does. Production Lead Printing Used the software for: 2+ years ### "My Childrens School Experience at my fingertips" November 6, 2023 5.0 Overall ClassDojo is the best teacher messaging app available, as I've said we've used 2 other apps and they were clunky and not as user-friendly as ClassDojo. Pros I like that in ClassDojo my sons teacher has the ability to message myself and their mother at that same time and we can have a group chat. We get information about homework, classwork, and any issues that are arising at school. We get messages from the principal and support staff too about school events and the level of communication is unmatched. We were using a couple of other apps previously and they don't compare with the ease of use of ClassDojo. The kids even get their own user interface and experience. My children are too young for this feature but not for long. Cons There is a free version, which we use currently but getting setup can be challenging especially when the teacher doesn't share the correct codes.. You can't just type the teachers name to get added you have to have their invite code. It's good for security but somewhat inconvenient. Review Source JT Jennifer T. Pros Love the video aspect, chat and messaging options, activity tracker and positive encouragement options with the point system. Easy to use and great graphics. Cons Notifications are sometimes overwhelming when the weekly updates all come through at once. But this is more of an issue with the person sending out the info all at once. Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Great Source for Classroom Management" November 7, 2021 5.0 Overall, I like this program because it's customizable, it captures my students' attention, it allows me to reward my students and give them a consequence, and it's a way to communicate with parents. It's an all-in-one program/app. I like that I can also display it on my projector screen through my computer so that my students can listen for the "ding" of points/point removal and see their characters. I also like that parents receive notifications for specifics of what their child did well/poorly on behavior-wise. For example, if I set up one of my behavior categories to say, "Following Directions," and then take away points from a student, parents can see that that is a skill their child needs to work on behaviorally at school. I also like being able to set a class goal for the students to try for. (i.e.: When we reach 10,000 Class Dojo points, we can have a class pizza party.) Earning ClassDojo points is a huge student incentive. Pros The students like getting to customize their individual characters at home, and as a teacher, I like using this software on both my computer and phone (app) to provide discipline (both negative and positive). I can award students points, or take Dojo points away for bad behavior. Cons I wish I had to ability to add parents' numbers to the program (sign them up myself) like I can through the Remind software program. Reason for choosing ClassDojo Class Dojo is more engaging and provides instant messages to parents who are signed up for it to see how their child is behaving in the classroom. If my child was falling behind or missing an assignment, I could immediately fix the problem. I was able to log on any time I'd like and know how my child was doing. The direct communication with the teacher is a plus as well. Pros I not only like the direct contact between parent and teacher, but I like that you can send encouraging words and pictures to your child. Mine loved the little remarks of encouragement. User-friendly with so many features to enhance and modify class behaviours. Pros ClassDojo is a very user-friendly application for teachers. I would say that it is suitable for lower grades 1-4. Teachers can award or deduct points to their students for both positive and negative reinforcement. One of the great features is the messaging board where teachers can send instant messages home to parents or share photos of what they are doing in class. These messages are confined to only the parent of the child and no other message posts or responses from the parent can be seen by other parents. There is also sounds allocated to the awarding of positive or negative behaviour that makes students perk up and check their own behaviours. I also love the animated video clips by the ClassDojo characters that teach students things like growth mindset. Cons As a grade 6 teacher, I find that the avatars for this application are more suitable for younger grades as upper elementary/middle school pupils are too cool for this look. Event Specialist Consumer Goods Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Son's teacher told me to download" January 23, 2019 5.0 Pros While meeting my son's teacher she informed of this app. I was told it was a form of communication between she and I and to see what they do during the day while in class. I went through the app and there was not much to it, I could see pictures of daily class duties. I could leave a comment on posts and could see an alert when another parent liked or added a comment to the same post. I would leave rep messages when my phone was off or to change my son's transportation home from bus to car or vice versa. This function was helpful as long as she was in class or near her phone. One time I left her a message and she didn't check it and respond until two days later. I could see his daily progress, whether his color changed for bad behavior. Cons I had no problems with the app's functions. I wish it had mini games or some sort of activities for the kids to complete, but it was OK. Pros Class Dojo allows you to stay connected between teachers and your students. As long as teachers use it, it provides constant communication that is easily accessible. With multiple students, it consolidates all the messages into one area and allows for private messages to each teacher. If you have multiple students, and the school sends out a mass message, you only get the message once which I really like. It also allows you to upload documents to your child's portfolio for the teacher to view. Cons If you have multiple students, the private messaging can be a little hectic especially if a specials teacher emails you. That specials teacher might also have your other children, so it is necessary to figure out what student they are messaging you about. It can be confusing and takes a minute to figure it out.
