I have 2 kids and they have many teachers sometimes it difficult to stay up to date with each classroom. Dojo allows me to message the teachers and see my kids' progress throughout the school year. GREAT PRODUCT! Pros This app is amazing to stay connected with my kids' teachers. I can easily communicate with them and they can keep me informed with what is going on in the classroom and at the school. It's like social media for my kids' school Cons I wish there were other ways to interact with other parents to share information. Sometimes I'd like to ask a question to other parents and I am unable to. Makes tracking data in the classroom easier and can be done in a fun way. Pros I love ClassDojo and use it daily with my students. It's a fun and interactive way to take attendance and reward students for tasks throughout the day. It keeps the kids motivated because they can see each others dojo icon getting rewarded. They look forward to it when points are given and it's also a great way for parents to link in and check their student's progress. Cons It would be great if we could download the data from class dojo in a spreadsheet. There may be this feature already - but if not, it would be helpful to add! I send them a private message on classdojo. The teacher can also send private or to the whole class photos, reminders or text about their day. You can easily save the photos the teachers share with you of your student Cons Biggest con is when a new school year happens it don't automatically delete or update your student to the new teachers. So, you will have multiple "monsters" for your kids but only one will be the current year. I usually have the same response time as if she had given me her cell phone number. I can pull up the school menu, red ribbon week details, or other upcoming events within seconds. Helps me out often! Pros I love being able to see the pictures, announcements and being able to communicate via the chat option. December 3, 2019 5.0 I was an ESE teacher for several years, then a training and research specialist, and now a Registered Behavior Technician who also teaches Social Skills classes for struggling students. I've used Class Dojo in all of these roles and I love it as much today as I did the first! Pros It allows me to easily track and analyze student behavior, while making it fun for the kids. It also allows me to easily connect with parents, or sometimes others (therapists, teachers, social workers, etc.), and share their child's behavior throughout the day. Cons No negatives that I can think of. Except maybe of a child creates their own monster at home, I can't override it if they decide they want a different monster. Review Source Michael L. Just tap a few icons and you have the necessary reporting. Saved a lot of typing and writing. It was available through a internet browser and an app for my phone. Doesn't get lost with the million other things I send out or receive. Cons I don't like the negative points that are allowed through the product for the child. No parent wants to open an app have see points that have been taken away for behavior. IMO this is a different conversation. I find it most useful to create accountability amongst my students for their own behavior and to foster positive classroom culture. Cons Parents must buy in in order for this software to work effectively. I would advise any teacher who plans on using it to work on making sure parents know how to use it, too. Parents can check in throughout the day to see how their child is doing in class. The kids can also keep track with how they are doing when I update good or not so favorable behaviors. The kids also love being able to create their own monster as their avatar. Cons There’s not much on here that I don’t like. Pros I liked the ease of setting up classroom lists. It was fun for the kids to pick a Avatar. They loved the visual. I also liked that I could set up my own expectations each day. The sound effect for the negative behavior was also motivating. I didn't have to single anyone out verbally and could keep on teaching. It quickly grabbed their attention if they were not on track. Also having them go up and add their own positive points was rewarding. Also the kids and parents can see their progress at home. Cons I really don't dislike anything. It is easy to use on computer. The point system does enable students to start taking responsibility sooner for their own behavior. Pros My students love to earn points and work hard to earn rewards and praise. The parental connection is great and enables parents to see and understand how their child is behaving throughout the day. The digital portfolio piece enables a collection of positive rewards for parent/student/teacher three-way communication. Cons The app once a student behaves negatively sometimes makes the student behave in an even worse way as that child knows others know how they have behaved. If a child is a bully or behaves negatively due to certain factors such as abuse I could see this software possibly causing problems. Review Source DD Doris D. It provides quick feedback and allows you to redurect students without wasting classroom time. They like seeing their scores and being able to turn in their points for a reward at the end of the week. Pros My students have diverse needs and require differentiation, I use ClassDojo as part of my incentive program. It is engaging and both students and parents can view the students progress. The students enjoy the avatars and like when I change their costumes. Cons I am happy with the software at this time. I would not change anything. It is working well with my population. Another plus is the ability for students to submit work! It's a great way to lesson the multiple piles of paper around the room. Easy to do, easy to grade, and easy for parents to see! Pros Class Dojo is the perfect classroom management tool. The ability to set any behaviors, good or bad, AND the points they give to or take away from each student make it easy to personalize each class you have. Parents can see a summary each day, if you so choose, and this can even be used as a parent contact tool! Cons I have not found anything about this software I do not love. Pros I love how easy it is for teachers to communicate with parents. I like that ClassDojo allows one teacher to make a digital announcement to the whole school at once, or for a parent to have a one-on-one conversation with their child's teacher. I like the behavior management portion of it as well. My kids stay on task when they know there's a dojo point at stake! Cons It can be hard to figure out how to attach videos. October 16, 2020 5.0 ClassDojo allows me to keep up with classroom behaviors better than any other program I have found. It is also a communication tool between home and school. Definitely a great experience with ClassDojo! Pros Class Dojo is a very useful program for any classroom teacher. I like that it is easy to set up, and it is very user friendly. It helps me track positive and negative behaviors of students, and parents can keep up with their student's behaviors. Cons The only thing I would change is that it would be nice if I was able to sync my classes from Canvas/Infinite Campus so students show up automatically. I love staying in the know with what's going on in the classroom and throughout the school. Pros I like that this App allows me to stay connected with my small children throughout the day. I was uneasy about leaving my kids with school personnel because they had previously been homeschooled, however with the use of this app, all my fears were abated. Cons There is very little to dislike about this app. I am able to communicate with my kids' teachers and get updates about their progress, I know what's going on during the school day, and I am able to communicate effectively with teachers and even Principal. May 29, 2019 5.0 My son's school uses ClassDojo to keep in touch with parents, communicate updates, track your child's weekly progress and send individual messages, and I must say, it's much easier, and certainly faster than having to write notes and hope the teacher gets them! All I have to do is send a quick message and my son's teacher gets back to me within a couple of hours at most. They have a points system and I'm able to keep track of it through Dojo and see if my son's behavior and work ethic is satisfactory or not. It's great. I don't have to ask how he's doing, it's all right there. On top of that, if there are any events or emergencies, the school is able to communicate them right away to all parents and a notification pops up in my email and through the app on my phone within seconds! ClassDojo makes it easy to stay in the loop regarding my son's school and education, I couldn't ask for more! Pros Easy to use. Great way to keep in touch with teachers. Private messaging capabilities. Keeps track of student achievement. Receive communications from the school. Cons Been using this software for three years now and there's really nothing negative I can say about it! Pros The ability to get notified of pictures and teacher announcements in real time on my smartphone is great. When I process my email inbox I am not in a mode to review the emails from my child's teacher. I like going into the ClassDojo app to get updated. Cons I tried the subscription and found the app to act clunky. Saving pictures off the app worked horribly.
