I love that I can message back & forth with his teacher. It is also handy that school-wide messages can be posted. It cuts down on the amount of papers sent home and is handy to receive reminders about school events, deadlines, etc. Pros I love that I can message my child's teacher directly and it also has the function to allow the administrators to post school-wide announcements. Many of my elementary school teachers use it for behavior management as well as a parent communication tool. It is a great tool for documentation for teachers. The students love their monsters and teachers enjoy being able to customize their themes and icons. THe function of adding multiple teachers to a class is great for special areas to be involved in the homeroom class. It is great, FREE app for elementary teachers. Cons I don't feel like it is ideal for middle and high school students. Some teachers have asked that the badges have more options. I really cannot say anything negative about ClassDojo. May 11, 2021 5.0 ClassDojo is an easy and paperless Positive Behavior tracking tool. Pros I love how easy it is for students to see their progress! Just projecting our class points on the projector does wonders for behavior. I also love that it is available on my phone for when we are not in the room. Cons Adding parents was a little bit tricky. I appreciate the teachers taking times to show us what our kids are doing during the day. Pros I am a parent user of this product. It is an easy way for teachers to communicate with parents and safely post pictures of students for parents to view throughout the day. Cons I have multiple kids in the preschool. Pros I like how simple the interface is and how it doesn't throw everything in your face at one time. As a parent you want to see messages from teachers above all else and it's organization like a social media feed aids in being able to quickly check in and get the info you need. Students can accumulate points toward a classroom goal or individual goal. Teachers can communicate with parents and parents can see how their children are doing throughout their school day. It has been a very essential tool in the classroom. The students take responsibility for what they earn and they enjoy choosing their avatar. Pros Class Dojo is a great tool for teachers to provide students and parents with real-time feedback related to behavior and academic work. The research on game theory has shown that immediate feedback is a motivator for students and helps them to self-regulate behaviors and mental energy. Cons Some parents feel it is invasive because it calls students out for inappropriate behaviors. It's fairly user-friendly and the design is really cute. Pros The best part of Class Dojo was the user interface. It's a really cute design and it's pretty easy to use. It's a great way for teachers and parents to stay in touch, share photos and messages, and get the the help they need when they need it. Cons I really wanted there to be an option to upload multiple pictures to the child's portfolio at once. It was very time consuming to upload 5 separate photos every day to the portfolio. Everyone I know that has a child uses this software and they like it. Overall I have had a great experience using this for over a year now. Pros The software is awesome to see what the kids are doing at school. I use it to see what the class is doing that day. I also use it to chat with my child's teacher about how she is doing. Cons The software runs smooth. I have not had any problems with it. The teachers try and post something each day. Cons Unable to attach a video to messages. I wish I could schedule an announcement in the class story just like in messages. Pros I like that there are ways to keep track of the students and how they're doing. I've worked as a long term substitute and it honestly helped me to reward the students. It has also helped their actual teacher keep track of them while they are away. It also keeps in great contact with their parents. Cons I haven't found anything I don't like about it. Director Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Class Dojo for Child Care" August 3, 2019 4.0 When I went to work as Director at an Out of School Time Center, we had a ClassDojo set up, and I was very impressed. I loved giving kids points, and letting them trade them in. I thought putting messages and pictures on it was just awesome and safe! Then I notice teachers were also putting the same messages and pictures on Facebook. We did not have any parents that wanted the safety of the ClassDojo. I disagree, but when we had Tornado Warnings, we need to use the method parents will see first and respond to. Pros It is a closed site. Only those you put on it can see it. Cons My parents seemed to want Facebook. My opinion is that ClassDojo is safer, but the parents read messages on Facebook more often. Review Source KS Kerry S. I'm sure it will continue to develop with time to better suit teacher's needs. I appreciate the ability to quickly message a teacher without having to deal with email or cell phones (which can feel too personal, or go too long unanswered). Pros As a parent, I love the easy connection this software offers me to my child's classroom. Cons Of course, the amount of information gleaned from Class Dojo is dependent on the teacher's use of the tool. Some educators make better use of it than others. I find, particularly, the "points" feature to be a bit tiresome. It's great to see when your child gets awarded points, but the fact that these points often get overlooked by the educator can leave you feeling concerned about student behavior when there are no awarded points.
