I love Class Dojo. I wish they had this when my other children were in school.

Pros

I love that I can see posts from my kid's teachers on this app, some of which are pictures and I love that we can see what happens in the classroom. It keeps teachers, parents and students connected and this is very important to all stay on the same page.

Cons

It is a little hard to navigate through things that don't pertain to you, but it's worth it.

Pros

I used this website during the pandemic for my bosses kids and also my friends kids. It was a great website for the kids. it was a fun activity for them to use and also be learning at the same time.

Cons

I really cant think of a con. I dont use it anymore because my bosses kids have grown out of it.

Reason for choosing ClassDojo

I chose Dojo because it seems like a fun activity for the kids and they would be learning at the same time.

I love it!!!!

Pros

Wow! I love this one. I use it regularly in my class to connect with parents immediately and also to motivate students.

Cons

The missing of copy and paste feature in class messages is the con for me. I have to upload from my drive even a small card messages. I would like to see a paste message option available in the class story or school story.

I like using it to communicate with parents (privately or as a whole group) and to share photos and videos of what we are doing in the classroom each week on the Class Story. The students love to play Dojo Island, which is a game they can play on their own chrome books, while interacting with their classmates within the game.

Pros

I have used Class Dojo for many years and it keeps improving with time. I use it to track my students' behavior and communicate with parents. It allows my students to monitor their own points in order to be able to redeem points to shop at our class store. I also love the randomizer button to call on students and the ability to create groups.

Cons

I like all the features of the most recent version of Class Dojo.

I found ClassDojo very useful for communicating with parents and students quickly and effectively. Cons

Pros

I'd recommend ClassDojo if your teacher uses it. It is a great way to keep in contact with the teacher and other parents on the app. You can direct message and review the group chat boards to see what is going on in the classroom that day/week, see photos of your student, and message the teacher directly with any questions.

Cons

I could not reach out to my student directly on class dojo even though the app seemed like you'd be able to connect. A student version linked to the parent's ClassDojo app would be very helpful. That way, the 'rewards' and other incentives that parents can use on their app would be visible by the child, without giving the child the computer/phone of the parent (our students all have school ipads).

My overall experience with ClassDojo was great, it was easy to use, you didn't have to register every year when your child moved on to the next grade all the parents have to do is log into the account and boom there was all the information needed.

Pros

What I liked most about this software was that the teachers were able to give students points daily based on the behavior in class and it was easier to know when your child wasn't doing good that day versus having to send the teacher an email or text message and wait on a response.

Cons

What I liked least about this software is that you weren't able to know exactly what happened that day in school when your child didn't get a perfect score.

It’s been the easiest way I’ve found to communicate with parents both individually and as a whole group, in all of my 11 years of teaching thus far. I can turn off notifications when I’m unavailable, have them app on my phone for easy use, set “down time” where parents know I may not respond for a while and it’s the best way I’ve been able to have easy communication with parents throughout the year.

Pros

I enjoyed the ease in using this app, the easily manageable features and the capacity to reach many parents at once, either as a whole or privately through private messaging.

Cons

Sometimes the app would not notify myself or the parent of a message being sent/received even though the phone settings were turned on, on my side and theirs.

I have had nothing but positive feedback when using ClassDojo. My colleagues in classrooms like that we are using the same system to encourage positive choices and behavior, and parents appreciate the regular contact and communication. I like that kids take ownership throughout the year over inputting some of their information, and I think it's a great way to give support and reinforcement without singling any student out as being different. It's also just a fun platform perfectly suited to visually-motivated elementary students. I highly recommend it to colleagues.

Pros

I love that it allows teachers to keep in touch with families easily. Parents appreciate that they receive updates each time their child achieves something, and students are more eager to participate knowing their parents are in the loop. Especially with EL families, the ability to send quick messages helps relieve anxiety and allow for some flexibility with language.

Cons

There really aren't any drawbacks. There is an adjustment period when you first use it as you try to remember to incorporate it into your routines, but it then becomes second nature.

I just started using the portfolio system with a couple of students before COVID-19 hit, so I have little to talk about that, but everything else is fantastic. I can message my parents, and they get the message just like a text if they have the app on their phone. I send pictures of their kids, and they love to see how hard their child is working and learning.

Pros

I love how easy it is to give points to my first grade classes. They work so hard for those points! You can use the points to give tangible rewards, or just keep accumulating them to see how many you can get. Kids can also use it to turn in their homework assignments, making it easy to grade!

Cons

I don't know that there's anything I don't like about this. Parents love it, Teachers love it, students love it!

Overall, I like that I can use it for creating groups or randomly picking students to be helpers. Students love having their unique avatar, and I like having one app that lets me do a lot of little things.

Pros

I like that it has a bunch of useful features in one spot. For example, I like that I can use it to randomly assign groups, track the noise level of my class, and send parents messages. The little features really add up in this platform. I also like that it is very kid friendly.

Cons

I really don't like the negative feedback tracker. I understand that many teachers use it and find it to be helpful. However, I hate behavior charts and just think they do more harm to students' self-esteem overall. I think if used correctly, it can be useful. However, to have every day be a competition to be the best behaved is a lot to put on a child who may have a hard time controlling their behaviors. While I think the feature works well, I don't use it in my class.

### "Great Tool for Keeping in Contact with Teachers"

Pros

I love how easy it is to keep track of my children's schoolwork and any important announcements from their teachers. It saves paper and I don't have to worry about missing out on information because a child lost a paper before it ever got to me. Also, it's so easy to communicate with teachers using ClassDojo, which is especially important to me because one of my children has issues that necessitate frequent contact with his teachers.

Cons

Class Dojo allows for parents' and children's accounts (which is a plus), but the push notifications don't always come through for me as the parent if the app is on one of the children's accounts. I do have my account set up so I receive emails when I get a message from the teacher, but the push notifications are more helpful. However, it's such a minor issue that I would still highly recommend this software for teachers to use.

I've really enjoyed using Dojo and found that it's given my immediate access to my sons' teachers. I feel more informed about what's going on in their classrooms and it's also served as a motivator for them to work harder!

Pros

I have direct contact with my kids' teachers and can message them if I need something. Teachers are able to easily message all of their students' parents and fill them in on the daily/weekly activities. The Dojo points have been a huge motivator for my son to perform better in the classroom and get excited about school!

Cons

The messaging was confusing at first. I didn't realize that when I sent a message to the teacher it goes directly to her and not all of the parents. The way it's set up, the teacher can send a message to the whole class and then each parent can respond directly to the teacher. That wasn't clear initially. All of your contact is in one chain. I also wish you could download pictures that the teacher posts!

The best experience for me has been having students be able to view their own behavior tracking data and set their own goals. The social emotional learning resources are phenomenal and I've had buy-in even from middle schoolers.

Pros

Behavior/habit targets can be very easily customized and information can be set to private or shared with parents. There is a text to parent feature but it can be set to car head hours and weekend hours. Thursday if I need to take photos and upload them to a story while I'll send them to parents, or record classroom footage to share as well.

Cons

There is not really anything that I dislike about this platform. I would love to be able to share more than what is allowed in terms of number of photos uploaded at once, but that is so minor.
