We use LibAnswers to staff the Ask-A-Librarian chat service for our library patrons. Overall it works well for that purpose. When the questions get a bit more complex, i.e. closer to research consultations, the shortages in the program can be seen.

Pros

For basic question and answer chats, this software is very useful. I appreciate the integration with FAQs so that repetitive questions can be answered more quickly.

Cons

The picture sharing and screensharing functionalities are still very new and not quite up to par. LibAnswers also does not integrate with other LibApps products as well as I would expect - i.e. with LibCal to make appointments, LibWizard for experience surveys, etc.

Pros

It is easier to use than our previous software. When you use it it does not open additional windows as our old software did. It also offeres a lot of settings that can be customizable to your library. It is easy to use and making chatting easier.

Cons

The thing I like the least about it is that is have a feature that allows you to share your photo with your clients. I would rather we did not have that option as I feel some will abuse this.

Pros

It is very easy to receive and send messages to customers regarding account information. Notifications are very timely and software is updated regularly.

Cons

I really don't have many complaints. Sometimes emails get routed to spam that are not spam but that is about it.
