Pros

I most like the exam room and the chief complaint part of EMA. I am glad that it has prompts for both the complaints and diagnoses to help with patient care and make assisting the physicians easier.

Cons

I do not like that the iPad and computer capabilities are not equal. There are things that are available on the computer that are not always available on the iPad. We use the iPads while in with the patient but then have to use the computers for certain things. This is not convenient. Also, there are quite a few small things that require that we go back in to edit each note. Also, it is a lot of work to make patients notes available to them.

Pros

EMA for Ophthalmology offers my doctors and technicians an easy way to go through their exam. With the iPAD application, the virtual exam room is very easy to understand. With simple touch buttons, we are spending less time writing in charts and more time talking and caring for our patients. The support this system has to offer is great, whether it's calling in or doing an online request, response time is very quick, and you speak with someone who sounds like they really enjoy their job!

Cons

We have not really had a negative experience with this product. All of our requests have been cared for in a timely, professional manner.

I’m really happy to have discovered EMA. It’s an EHR that I’m actually excited to use. The native iPad app is very slick, and I love the idea that I can just go from room to room with an iPad. The company seems to be very in-tune with their users, and is continually updating the app to maximize the workflow based on our feedback. When new updates come out, the added features are simple and intuitive, not complete overhauls that require a relearning of the entire system, which I’ve experienced in the past (with great frustration) with other more antiquated systems. Another reason I chose EMA is that it’s a solid company with great leadership. I fully trust that not only will they be around, but also prepared for changes in meaningful use and ICD-10. I would highly recommend checking out this system.

I have been using EMA for the past 18 months and as a solo practitioner find it to be a very valuable tool. After navigating the learning curve from paper charts, I have now been able to do virtually all of my charts with ema. My patients and referring patients are impressed with the format and content of our office notes and I often get compliments on the software package. Modernizing medicine as a company is a pleasure to deal with and provides unparalleled customer support. They are very responsive to our office and are an extremely progressive company. I believe that they will continue to be the leader in Dermatology software. Their continued updates and improvements ensure that we will remain ahead of the curve in this rapidly changing medical climate.

### "Not for Retina"

If your doctor isn’t tech savvy and has a hard time with electronics this is not the program for you. If you have a group of younger doctors you may be in luck.

Pros

This software very detailed and can be very user-friendly and a lot of fun features including inter connectivity to testing programs.

Cons

Not friendly for retina. The amount of features can be very daunting to an older doctor who is not very tech savvy.

Pros

Modernizing Medicine has delivered everything they promised. They were also very accommodating on pricing when we had a dermatologist give her notice two weeks after we signed our contract. The system is user-friendly and keeps up with all the constant changes from Medicare regarding billing.

Cons

I have no complaints about the software. The contract was crazy long and involved and there was no room for negotiation. This made me nervous, but as I said, Modernizing Medicine has been a pleasure to work with and have been nothing but fair with every interaction.

Pros

I like the way it thinks along with you as you wok on the patient's medical record. The next time through, it has saved your preferences and this makes record keeping much more efficient. I also like how well it works with CareCloud. To be able to check a patient in, enter a medical record and then finalize and bill all in just a few minutes has revolutionized the way I practice medicine.

Cons

I haven't found much not to like at this point! I guess the only problem is if the internet is down and I can't access the cloud. But otherwise it is working well.

I own a coding and consulting company, and have many ophthalmology clients using different EMR systems. Out of all the systems I have used, EMA is by far the most comprehensive, time saving, and workflow efficient EMR on the market for ophthalmology today. The few times I have called customer support they were very helpful. In terms of coding, I no longer have to find ICD 9 and CPT codes. EMA codes for me and also keeps my clients in compliance counting the E/M components. It takes me only half the time to review and send claims, giving me the ability to increase the revenue cycle doing other activities. This is very important especially with all the new tasks CMS has implemented that I must supervise.

Pros

No glaring complaints. It's a good product that holds patient information and path results and allows us to easily message one another internally. Support is generally easy to reach, if needed.

Cons

Random patient names sometimes appear in the IntraMail drop down tab that we cannot remove. We cannot figure out how to use Direct Mail, and support was unable to help us. We want the ability to add one general mailing account and remove individual names (when viewed from a patient account) so that patients cannot message specific people within office.

Our Practice consisting of seven providers (in three separate locations) have been part of the Modernizing Medicine family since October, 2012. And we could not imagine going back to paper charts...ever!! The M2 story has truly been remarkable, but their abilities to provide an amazing application exceeds any recognition or awards they have deservedly earned! In terms of volume, we were back to full speed within three weeks from our go-live date, and remain highly productive and efficient. Their Electronic Medical Assistant has not only been intuitive but resulted in better dermatologic care for our patients; and so without reservation, we would highly recommend EMA for any medical group.

Pros

The product itself is directly related to the field that I am in. It does not have the extra information that is not relevant to my practice. They are also far ahead of others when it comes to ICD-10 coding. The vendor is very receptive to issues and possible need for changes.

Cons

What I like least is that they seem to still have a few bugs to work out with details in the notes. If someone is not into the minutiae, it would not bother them. They also do not yet have a schedule component that integrates with my practice management system.

I was able to attest to Medicare for meaningful use with the assistance provided my my trainer at Modernizing Medicine. The training is something that makes the system relatively useable with dedication to learning it. The customer support provided by my trainer continues to go on after the online and live training have been completed. I can usually get an answer to a question quickly and correctly. I am happy with my choice of EMA as my Electronic Medical Record and would do so again. Our office has been live on the EMR for 5 months. The staff actually prefers charting in EMA compared to paper. I have been able to get the office up to speed on the system relatively quickly.

Pros

This is, without question, the only electronic medial record available that meets the particular needs of the dermatologist. The company is remarkably communicative and supportive of the user. Improvements are made by the hundreds in direct response to user comments and suggestions.

Cons

There are still a million little details that must be addressed with each visit, and although the coding is amazingly accurate, it still does overcode at times. You must be vigilant to be sure that you agree with the code for every visit.

Our clinic converted from paper charts to EMA by Modernizing Medicine in July, 2012. The training was excellent and even though we were told to start slowly, we started inputting all of our patient records from day one! My physicians and Physician Assistants have found the program easy to use and the documentation much quicker than writing their own notes. All consents are done electronically and the patient signs right on the IPad. We feel it is definetely worth the investment. Some of the best comments have been "I get to go home on time"! When we have needed to figure something out or add an item, we have had excellent support from Modernizing Medicine.

Pros

The EMA software makes our dermatology office run smoothly. There are never any glitches or issues. It's extremely user-friendly. Anyone can learn how to navigate through it, even those who are not familiar with medical terminology. We love EMA.

Cons

The updates are a real pain. Every so often, the system will update for a few hours, and we are forced to document on paper. It can be a struggle. Sometimes the updates bring odd changes to the program that seem unnecessary. This is the only issue I have encountered.

The software learns the way our doctors operate and makes the record keeping task easier as time goes on. EMA is continually being improved and updated with new features that meet the needs and requests of its users. The software is very affordable as an Electronic Medical Record, and we are very happy with the results of our exams using EMA.

Cons

No complaints. Modernizing Medicine has been proactive in preventing problems, and on the few occasions there was a problem, there was a quick fix and notification.

Our office went live with EMA July 2012, and it has definitely been an asset to our practice. We have two physicians who have increased their production and revenue because EMA is able to capture all the documentation which in the past was so time consuming. We were also able to collect payment for Meaningful Use Part 1, for both physicians, because EMA made it very easy to check regularly if we were meeting the requirements. I feel that any busy dermatology practice that would like to have better office flow, less paperwork, increased revenue, and the ability to see patient records at their fingertips would benefit from using EMA.

Our office has been using EMA for about three years and the staff has no complaints. EMA is easy to navigate and helps our office run smoothly every day. One of the staff's favorite features is the Results Log which easily allows us to keep track of our high volume of patients and contact them easily with their pathology results. In addition, with each update, the software improves.

This product enables a chart to be done in minutes without the use of suspicious clone-like templates. There is time and room to add your own findings and comments at every step if necessary. The vendor has superior and knowledgeable support staff, and I know them by name. I have had this EMR for about two years, and I cannot imagine using any other.

Cons

I find no negatives in this program. There is always phone support for questions.

My practice is very small and essentially part-time. I wanted an EHR that was simple to use, took little time to learn and did everything that current government regulations require. EMA does all that and lets me see more patients during the day! It's geared towards Dermatology with diagnoses, treatment plans, and eRx; and helps populate coding (including modifiers). Training was easily implemented, support is available whenever you need it, and contact is always friendly and always available! If you are a Dermatologist, there is no need to look at other EHR's!

It's easy to enter, view, and change patient info. It's user-friendly and reliable; we know that once entered, data will be safe and secure. It's also easy to send messages internally between staff.

Cons

There's no way to remove the names of staff members from the IntraMail drop down list, meaning that patients can message specific people in office. We want patients messaging one general inbox, not individual office staff members.

It is easy to get through to the support department, but very difficult to find someone that understands the product enough to know what your issue is. The typical response is, "let me log in and see if I can repeat the problem." I know it is a problem. I'm not ever asking if it is. I'm asking if it is a known issue and if so when in it will be fixed. If it is an unknown issue, I will gladly enter my own case. Enhancement requests are prioritized by affect on all customers, not by facility. We have yet to see an enhancement.
