### "High Cost, Low Flexibility: A Cautionary Experience with Modernizing Medicine"

May 6, 2026

2.0

Overall, my experience with Modernizing Medicine has been poor, primarily due to its lack of flexibility and rigid contractual structure. I entered into a five-year agreement at approximately $800+ per user per month for a two-provider setup. When my practice transitioned to a single provider, I was unable to reduce the number of users, despite multiple discussions with their team. The contract is highly restrictive, there is little to no ability to downgrade, and even in the setting of major practice changes, such as selling a practice, the financial obligations remain in place. This creates significant long-term risk for smaller or evolving practices. From a value standpoint, the cost is difficult to justify. The platform is expensive relative to competitors like Practice Fusion, yet lacks key functionalities such as fully integrated lab ordering with preloaded CPT codes and seamless transmission to major labs like Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp. Overall, between the high cost, limited flexibility, and operational inefficiencies, I would advise practices especially smaller or independent groups to carefully review contract terms and consider alternative EHR options.

Pros

What I like most about Modernizing Medicine is its streamlined, single-page layout, which makes it easy to navigate key sections like past medical history, surgical history, and the assessment and plan without jumping between screens. The interface is intuitive and allows quick access to essential clinical information. Additionally, the order templates are efficient—commonly used labs and medications can be bundled together, which reduces repetitive tasks and improves workflow efficiency in daily practice.

Cons

Despite its high cost, approximately $800–$1,000 per user per month, plus additional fees for services like faxing and integrations.Modernizing Medicine lacks some basic functionality that is standard in lower-cost EHRs. For example, lab ordering is not fully optimized. Many labs are not preloaded with CPT codes, requiring manual entry for each test and each lab vendor (e.g., Quest or LabCorp). This creates a significant administrative burden, as practices may need to input hundreds or even thousands of codes to enable proper lab transmission and barcoding. In contrast, lower-cost systems such as Practice Fusion often have these features built in from the start. Additionally, the note structure is not ideal. The assessment and plan are not clearly paired together, which can make documentation less intuitive and harder for other providers to quickly interpret. This impacts clinical communication and reduces overall note clarity.

### "Mod Med Updated Review "

March 20, 2026

5.0

My overall experience is very positive. Our customer success manager is extremely helpful and the support teams are great. MIPS was a new process for me and the MIPS advisor we had was amazing!

Pros

The improvements and capabilities that they continue to provide to enhance the users experience. Its a very easy software to use and maneuver in.

Cons

I still feel like the reporting capabilities can be improved to where they are more customizable without errors.

### "Any program but this one."

June 30, 2025

1.0

Terrible, frustateing as all heck. I think that I feel more betrayed then anything. I lecture at several seminars and bring my Ipad with me. Sometimes hundreds of students or other physicians see this glich with the Dragon issue during my case presentations. They must have lost thousands of potential doctors at this point. They still will not fix the issue. I just really really fell ripped off.

Pros

NOTHING!!! Absolute the most frustating program ever used in my career. In the beginning you are excited and promised the world. I think a few problems actually were corrected. I think that maybe the company just became to big or something. Frustation grew as gliches became more and more. Now every phone call with tech support is promising. They are friendly for sure. The techs actually act suprised (I think) that the issues have not been fixed and promise they they personally are going to get right on this. Nothing EVER comes of it.

Cons

Glich after glich after glich. I spend my entire day dodging gliches--costing me hours per day. After being promised for a year (at this point you have so many AR's you cant back out and are trapped), nothing ever get fixed, plus you are charged for the portions of the program that are non-operating. I have been so patient. Its not fair. They sell the hell out of you on something that just is not there. I have paid for Dragon medical on the App., for I use an Ipad. Your curser jumps all over the place with every word said. You have to stop with ever second word to replace your curser to resume dictating. Over a year and a half they have been promising a fix. I pay an extrta 100 dollars per month that they will not take off of my bill fort this.

### "We enjoy ModMed"

September 23, 2025

4.0

Overall, we really enjoy the functionality of . We like that it is web based and we seem to not have too many issues with it.

Pros

Our practice works out of two separate EMR systems so we are able to see functionality out of both systems and compare. We love and wish they offered Cardiology so we could switch all of our practices over to just ModMed. We currently use it for Dermatology and Allergy & Asthma. The practice management side is extremely user friendly. As I work on the Administrative side, I cannot personally speak for the Clinical side but our physicians seem to think it is user friendly and are happy with their purchase.

Cons

Customer support could use some work. It seems when we have some issues, it is extremely difficult to get someone to speak with you directly on the phone rather than by email. This delays fixing things.

### "Great company to work with"

March 1, 2025

4.0

Great. From the first conversation from our sales rep all the way to meeting people at MOMENTUM, has been a great overall experience. I would highly recommend.

Pros

The kindness and transparency of everyone we have been in touch with from the sales reps, project managers to all of the trainers we worked with during implementation. Very eager to be as helpful as possible.

Cons

The inconsistency of communication when submitting support cases. At times the communication has been great, but others? There have been times our biller has submitted cases about billing issues and never heard back. That’s unacceptable

### "ModMed is more than a tool for your practice!"

February 25, 2025

5.0

The staff is knowledgeable and kind. I appreciate their patience.

Pros

My practice loves the EMR. The system is clearly the top EMR for derm. We have been on this software since 2014 and find its ease of use and user friendliness such a plus. New, inexperienced staff are so intimidated but quickly learn the system. It just makes sense!

Cons

I wish the PM were a little more mature. There are still so many things I would like to see. I like to trend and compare year over year but there is a two year data limitation. You can still get data but you have to request it. That is frustrating to me.

Reason for choosing ModMed

The EMR was very powerful. It had more features when it came to dermatology needs

### "User-Friendly and Customizable EHR That Enhances Workflow"

April 10, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with has been positive. It has helped streamline our workflows and improve efficiency in day-to-day operations. The platform is user-friendly and adaptable to our practice’s needs, which makes a noticeable difference in productivity. While there are occasional slowdowns and some processes could be more streamlined, the overall functionality and benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Pros

What I liked most about is its intuitive, specialty-focused design. It’s easy to navigate, saves time with efficient workflows, and can be customized to fit our practice’s needs, which really helps streamline daily operations.

Cons

What I liked least is that the system can occasionally feel a bit slow during busy times, which can interrupt workflow. Additionally, some tasks require multiple steps to complete, which can be slightly time-consuming. While the customization features are a great benefit, setting them up initially can take extra time and effort.

### "Patient Service Representative"

February 24, 2025

It seems to be very logical and straight forward. I really don't have anything else to compare it to since I am new to the medical field.

Pros

When it tells you what is missing or invalid when scheduling appointments. The ease of changing an apppintment day/time; seeing the doctor's schedule and the color coding of the various types of appointments.

Cons

I wish I knew more about all it can do, I feel that it could help to streamline the scheduling if I knew all that can do. I never got "official" training.

### "ModMed....get some"

February 25, 2025

4.0

It has been a gentle learning cure with my MAs. We are at the point of knowing how to streamline our patient interactions with documentations to complete charting in a timely and accurate fashion.

Pros

\-The patient data is organized well on one screen although some quick access tweaks could be added as noted in the cons. -Physical exam is robust but could use some additional tweaks. -The ICD 10s with associated patient education points is robust -The algorithm for calculating E&M codes is fare

Cons

\-Limited amount of saved common prescriptions -Unable to add a saved common prescription without opening an active chart -Lake of simple interface to edit save common prescriptions -Lake of quick access to add height and weight to make sending prescriptions more streamlined for pediatric patients -Frustration when adding height and weight on a pediatric patient when sending a prescription and is unable to be saved for the an additional prescription -Lake of quick access to add medication allergies -Tasks are not included in summary with patient chart encounters -Physical exam missing some key descriptions that my MA has to input manually

### "Great System"

February 18, 2025

5.0

It has been extremely helpful for the practice and, personally, made my job easier.

Pros

We first puchased only the EHR portion of and was very pleased, but, as soon as they come out with the Practice Management system, it has made our entire practice so much more efficient and eliminated so many tasks that were being transferred from person to person and place to place. We have been very pleased with the entire system in general. It is very user friendly and promotes accuracy and accountability for everyone in the practice.

Cons

In the beginning, the transition was quite the curve ball, but, we have definitely surpassed that. My biggest con is the reporting system I find difficult to navigate at times and as a person in the billing department, we do not like the transaction you have to use for a returned payment. That is pretty much it.

### "There is always Pros and Cons"

February 26, 2025

4.0

Overall this has been a good system. I have used MedStar, Athena, Prognocis and now . I would choose Modmed again.

Pros

It's nice to have the body in the chart and click on the part you need. It can help with getting authorizations for our patients.

Cons

When you select add an attachment to the visit, it does not print with the visit note to send to the insurance company. My providers would have liked to have this feature such as adding radiology to visit's to support.

### "Pretty satisfied with a few issues"

March 3, 2025

5.0

Pretty good. Would recommend for comprehensive ophthalmology offices.

Pros

That billing and writing notes are integrated. You can see exactly how much each CPT code charges, and it is easy to run financial reports and sort by many fields. I also liked how easy it is to view/modify the schedule and add time blocks.

Cons

A few issues: 1) lack of follow up on billing. 2) scrolling is backwards/not intuitive on OCTs in image management. 3) updates/changes take a long time-I was told 2-3 years for the OCT scrolling issue. 4) You can't change which fields are "sticky" and some were made un-sticky (such as save fax to patient's chart) which is very inconvenient.

The only good thing about this experience was the trainer \[sensitive content hidden\]. She was very helpful even though I expressed multiple times how much I hated this system.

Pros

Nothing!, Going from Exscribe to MOD MED is a joke. They lied about initial pricing, I was quoted a completely different price. I feel like I was sold on a program that is nothing like what we are using. Not Orthopedic friendly!

Cons

February 27, 2025

I have been in healthcare for over 35 years. I was among one of the first groups who implemented an EHR back in the early 2000's. is hands down the best system I have worked in.

Pros

Easy for clinical staff to use, very intuitive. The analytics reporting tool is fabulous, you can slice and dice all sorts of information. Managing the A/R is extremely easy, especially compared to other systems I have worked in.

Cons

has the ability to load the payer fee schedules and run variance reports. However, it does not work 100% of the time. The system configuration is somewhat limited for multi-specialties.

My experience with Mod Med has been good overall.

Pros

That it's easy to use and user friendly!

Cons

\- Not able to send all forms to the Kiosk such as the MIPS form. (Many patients complain that there is so much to do. Would help if this could be accessed on pt portal or if we could do away in general with the MIPS due to the same questions being asked 3 different times). - Sign button on the kiosk forms could be pre-lit. - Review of symptoms not on patient portal - Would be neat if picture of meds could be taken and automatically. (We see a wide variety of elderly patients, most do not want to add their medications/complain due to a long list).

very good; would recommend it to colleagues. I like the billing service, boost, too. I am still trying to navigate the inventory module. We have not really utilized it fully.

Pros

I like how quick it is to review biopsy results and forward them to appropriate locations.

Cons

I don't like the lack of training on the MIPS process; especially coming from another EHR and having to report from 2 EHRS. Also, they only gave me 2 hours to learn about which qualities to report on and how to chart them.

Pros

I like how any one in any of our 4 locations can be working on the same patient at any given time. As well as the entire system is very easy to work at most angles.

Cons

I would like to be able to enter other pertinent information such as nick names on the actual schedule screen.
