Pros: -Relatively straight forward to use -cloud based system available, with free upgrades (for now) -relatively inexpensive for startups (~$2-3,000/yr for 2 users) -it seems like they're rolling out mobile access -good customer service

Cons: -navigating from section to section is slow and cumbersome -random freezes -can't see details from previous notes easily

Comments: I have used Altapoint Medical - The Patient Accounting, MANAGEMENT software since 1999. I have found the software the most user friendly of all of the programs I have tried and unwisely spent many dollars unnecessarily. I never had to pay for on site training. I did pay for initial backup support time for a few months in 1999. The multi user software has away of making all staff accountable and work as a team. I purchased one upgrade in about 2012 and went to a single user license with my downsizing for family reasons. I had no problems. I have also used APEX EDI clearing House since my inception with Altapoint. I have more support and one on one help with APEX EDI than any one can imagine with getting all ERA'S in one sight. I continue to pay a monthly fee for all clearing House services & support I need. I will always be thankful for the opportunity to work with both Altapoint Medical & APEX EDI. In today's times it is hard to feel you have a partner with your best interest in mind. My Altapoint Patient Management system has always made me feel I truly worked with a dedicated Team.

Pros: Not paying monthly fees for use of a Medical Billing software that can be purchased. Today every one is making money off of patient care, I preferred to buy the software like any Microsoft Office software & pay for support if needed. Microsoft send free upgrades constantly and offers free support. With the onset of HIPPA, constant changes in federal regulations mandating use of new hardware and software to be able to provide care for patients, along with reimbursement rates less than those of 1990 continues. Consider all if not most Medical Patient Management Software vendors now want Physicians to sign contracts for monthly fees. My Altapoint - Apex EDI system may be one of the few software Merchants not praying on practices charging monthly contract fees to use software that should be purchasable for a small fee.

Cons: Altapoint may want to offer monthly fees and cloud based services as other Medical Software Merchants do soon. I would encourage every one to ask about purchase prices for what ever "license" offered. Get copies of "Owner's Manuals" as part of the software even if downloadable. Ask about support service fees separately. Should you really need them from a quality Company product?t. Consider the last time you payed Microsoft for an update.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't be pressured by any one. Keep the best interest of your patients, staff and their families as well as your loved one as determining factors in looking at your needs. There are alternatives. (Seems the Federal Government could be providing what is legislated.)

Comments: The Altapoint support team continues to over deliver. We have great service, prompt response and a positive 'Can Do' attitude.

Pros: Simplicity - easy to use the basics

Cons: Missing some core functionality, primarily reporting

Comments: I have had your software for 14 years and up until the company was bought out from the original owners in Salt Lake City, it was a good software program. After the sale the software and the customer service got a lot worse. In the past year the updates that I have downloaded have eliminated features of previous versions that worked without a problem. Features like carrying a diagnosis forward, and symptom dates would flow seamlessly to the following month. Now the new versions you can't get that to happen on all patients. I called the company on numerous occasions and their response was I was wrong that it never did that before. I had the tech person on my computer and showed him how it did on some patients and not others and he relented and agreed that it was not working properly. I allowed him to copy my patient file and he told me he would work on it and get back to me. He never got back to me and it is now a month later. Instead I got an email from a supervisor that I need more training. I have been using the software for 14 years. I know how it works and I don't need to be trained. Horrible customer service! Horrible!!!!!

Pros: nothing

Cons: everything

Recommendations to other buyers: Look for another software. That's what I am presently doing.

In place of providing support they want me to purchase upgrade

Pros: Easy to use,although we use it only for patient management and not insurance billing

Cons: The product is good, the support was also good until now. I have used Altapoint for more than 12 years and hosted my purchased system and gradually upgraded to Altapoint 11. I do not need any upgrade since I use it just for patient management, but now that I need small technical support the vendor would not support,although that I paid for support of the same problem 1 month ago. They want me to upgrade to their online version that I do not want for patient privacy and HIPPA concern.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do not get a software that does not give you support as long as you are using the software. I have also patient privacy and HIPPA concern on online software.

Pros: I like that our rep is quick to call back to help address questions or problems with the product. Our billing specialist likes the batching feature.

Cons: I least like that the help feature is not helpful, and there are lots of ongoing costs associated with this product. As the office manager, I'm often unsure of who I should be contacting. There seem to be too many people/companies involved in the process of electronic billing. Training is expensive.

Recommendations to other buyers: Others considering the product should definitely contact someone with an office in the same medical area with the same staff-to-patient ratio.

Comments: I think that the AltaPoint software is very easy to use. I only use it for billing though. I have version 11.00.34 now, which has now been upgraded to version 14. This is the second time I have purchased AltaPoint. I have been using AltaPoint for about 12 years. The implementation from me hosting my system to online was easy. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed, such as the forms do not print right. Hopefully it won't be too long to have these issues resolved. The staff has been helpful in trying to fix these things and are trying to get IT help involved for more major fixes. It's very nice to have the system online because you can access it from anywhere.

Comments: We are a busy pediatric office. We have been using Altapoint since 2005 when we first opened. I have trained lots of employees on Altapoint and it is very user friendly. The employees pick up the system quickly, whether it be front desk and dealing with making appointments and adding new patients, or the nurse with inputting vitals and labs. Technical support has been very helpful in aiding us with any issues that may arise. They are very thorough in making sure our issues are resolved promptly and efficiently. We are very satisfied users with Altapoint and their support team. We will continue to use them in the future to come.

Comments: In relation to various PM and EHR's out there, this system is quick, efficient, easy to install and train, and reliable. I believe the AltaPoint product has for years been reliable, and we always seem to come back to it. All of the additional bells and whistles many other products offer are not typically utilized in the end when put into operation. AltaPoint's functionality helps get staff proficient quickly. The learning curve and months of learning and adjusting is eliminated - almost entirely. We have played with hosted and local services and both run like a charm. Most especially when working with Intuitive Solutions as their reseller and support unit!!

Comments: My experience with dealing with the AltaPoint staff have been excellent. They are very knowledgeable, extremely professional and very pleasant to talk to. Now in regards to the upgrade and implementation team, I don't have much to say. I have not seen any drastic changes in the way I use the system.

Comments: I am the director of medical billing company, and I have been using AltaPoint for over 6 years. The system is very easy to use. It has a very short learning curve for when I hire new staff, and my charge entry staff love how quickly they can get charges entered over some of the other programs we use. I always recommend it to friends in the industry.

Pros: Easy templates to heavily or lightly modify. Scheduling for multiple providers with a click. Easy to cloud or use as local. Fully gov't compliant.

Cons: Needs optical integration w/ labs

Overall: Overall pleased just want more plug in type modules for different areas of practice which is what they are working on.
