Pros: * Variety of features, options/customizability especially compared to other practice management programs

* Ease of use and my own rapidly responding, personal account manager to consult when needed--I'm still trying to figure out if he ever goes home or takes a vacation!

* Automatically generated reminders and invoices sent to clients

* Ease of scheduling for clients online if they wish

* Mobile accessibility for clients but also myself when I need to manage details outside of the office

Cons: I can't identify any dislikes but have found myself wanting automatically generated reminders if a progress note is not completed as I've had this with other electronic health records. Such a feature can be a lifesaver for those irritatingly fallible human moments we all have occasionally.

Overall: I have loved CounSol since I started using this practice management system in 2014 and have only grown to appreciate it and the people behind the scenes more and more. Not only does it simplify my life and practice but my clients are pleased and complimentary as well.

I recently contracted with another clinician to serve as records custodians for one another in the event of death or impairment. As part of this process, we were educating each other on our practice management platforms. She uses Simple Practice so I signed up for a free trial to familiarize myself with it. In web reviews, these systems look very comparable but I found Simple Practice to be lacking visually and was surprised at the absence of some features such as sending out a secure group announcement to all clients (e.g, if going on vacation, posting revised policies, etc.). I did not make an inventory of the differences in Simple Practice and CounSol as I was not planning to write a review. However, I did come away from the experience with renewed conviction that I had chosen the best system!

Pros: I evaluated several EHR options when I started my solo therapy practice. I decided to give CounSol a trial, and I was hooked within a day. The customer service literally can't be beat. Upon my first phone call, I was assigned an IT representative, whom I can reach *directly* via e-mail or phone. No phone trees. No voicemail. No waiting. He helped me set up the system exactly the way I wanted it, including customizing forms and other components. He has responded promptly to questions, helped me fix mistakes I've made, and passed along suggestions to the development team -- ALL of which were implemented within days. CounSol was wonderful when I began using it, and it keeps getting better all the time. It has all the features I need, and more. I've recommended CounSol to colleagues, and every one of them is glad to be using this system. Of all the options out there, CounSol is the most comprehensive, versatile and customizable. And beyond all of that, the personalized IT service literally can't be beat. I'll never switch!!

Cons: Because CounSol is so comprehensive, there was a bit of a learning curve at the beginning and it felt somewhat overwhelming. However, my IT rep walked me through every step at the beginning and responded immediately to questions (no matter how trivial!) as I learned the system. I've never experienced customer service like I have with CounSol. That alone is worth every penny. Moreover, the development team continues to make CounSol increasingly user-friendly and intuitive as time goes on. I really love this system.

Counsol is the most flexible of all the private practice platforms I tested.

Pros: One of the main selling points for me was the client portal. All the other ones that had portals required that the clinician approve the appointment request, with no other option. Why? I don't need more steps in my already busy schedule. And my clients, like any customer, want simple confirmations for their busy schedule instead of waiting to hear back so they can then make other adjustments for their schedule. I'm not a big fan of two steps when one does the job.

My clients REALLY like being able to schedule this way and not have to play phone tag with me, nor wait for a confirmation.

Flexibility and customization is a big selling point for me with Counsol. I don't bill insurance and I don't use the OMR feature--I still go old school paper charts. While most may not need this option, with Counsol I can still use it fully for robust scheduling, billing, and payment processing without having to enter progress notes and treatment plans--most of the other ones i tested required that you also use it for notes. That for me would've caused additional steps to enter notes when I already have a paper record. Again, less = better, and flexible customization = better.

Customer support has always been VERY responsive, personal, and helpful.

Overall, what I liked most is that Counsol is the most flexible of all the private practice platforms I tested, and I tested at least 10 of the most popular.

Cons: Concerns:

Many actions give the option to select if you want to send info about that action to the client. I would like to be able to change the default setting for the whole system to "do not send to client" rather than having to select that option each time. Again, less steps = better.

Wish could print billing statements that fit in #9 double window billing envelope--which is pretty standard billing practice. I've been told that is not an option, and while yes I can email statements that's not how my practice functions. So, when I mail invoices to third party payers (for me mostly clergy as I don't work with insurances at all), I have to print out the invoice AND an additional piece of paper with my return address and the recipients address formatted for that type of envelope. Again, this is a standard envelope that any program that includes billing uses. I would love to have that feature added.

Minor concern:

The interface isn't as polished/slick as some of the others out there. I think some more in-depth exploration there with users would be valuable.

Pros: I love that I can do so much with Counsol, and the features continue to evolve. I am going into my 5th year with them and it has made my life so much simpler. I am not only able to have client complete the paperwork beforehand, but they an schedule and get reminders for their appointments, too.

One feature that I especially love is the ability to add handouts and other helpful info inside the portal. I have recorded relaxation mp3s, designed sheets to help them work through thoughts, handouts to help with grief, and relationship assessments. I have them organized into folders, and then I can assign certain folders to appear for the clients. Then, in our sessions, I can show them how to use those tools when they are outside of session, and they find them to use again and again.

I have my own representative who contacts me whenever I have a question. He is fast and helpful.

Cons: I wish that the video feature worked on phones instead of just laptops. It's also best when both parties use earbuds or headphones to help with echoing.

Overall: I have saved so much time with scheduling thanks to Counsol. That alone is worth the monthly fee for me. It's also given me back a lot of time spent communicating with clients via phone, text, and emails. Now I can point them to one place and it makes like easier for them and for me!

Throughout the time I have used them, they have continued to add more features. You can have other team members who help with billing or scheduling or other needs to access only the parts of the portal that they need- without sacrificing client privacy.

Using Counsol has been the single best decision I've made for my practice!

Pros: The support staff has been extremely friendly and helpful, as well as patient! I am not a very tech-savvy person at all but knew I wanted to go digital with records. I also recently got certified for Telemental health and needed a HIPPA secure platform, so I set it up. They promised me excellent customer service and said I could call as many times as needed to get training, and he would book a full hour session with me! I needed several sessions and that's only because as said I am not tech savvy, but NOW that has gotten the swing of things it has already made my office management, documentation a lot easier!

Cons: Actually I don't like the "WHODAS" lable I understand is called that as far as measuring disability, but sounds weird to clients, and some tend to skip it though it's very simple. I would reword it to " Disability Screening Tool" and then in parentheses, write out the official name if screening as it is a widely used and recognized tool, but hard for clients to unduid they are seeing me for depression why am I asking them to fill out a questionnaire about how long they can stand or sit, then they skip the whole thing even though there is relevant content on emotional well being.

Overall: It's excellent . I have already told my peers about it. FIRST, it puts a much more professional touch to services from the very beginning! They can fill out the specific forms that you require, such as consent and Hippa forms, client data, they can fill out own biopsychosocial, so it has already saved me time, it is much easier as some clients have illegible writing. It is much better for me, because my writing isn't the best and it looks so much more professional. The notes are secure but client can access their records through their own secure portal, which is in keeping with many other medical offices. TX plans are easier as the standard measurable goals and interventions are included and can be individualized. The Ind progress notes are very easy and cover what most insurances would need to know, plus they are always a good reminder to cover all the basics each visit. So, it ok me a bit longer and I had more anxiety as I am " old school" but the support staff was great and it is well worth the money for time saved and professionalism. If people are already tech savvy then it's a walk in the park and a no-brainer to use! Lastly I picked this software because even though there was other software application available for therapists, most did not have a HIPPA compliant for Telemental Health. It gives me 9eace of mind that I can prove I am doing everything I can to keep all communications confidential, and the client feels better with it as well. Great product great service!

Pros: Covers all aspects of practice management including scheduling, documentation, and billing. It's a HIPAA-compliant interface that includes secure video sessions (for a small additional monthly charge). A secure client portal is included, allowing clients to manage their own sessions, pay their bills, and send secure messages to you. It's possible to upload and/or create your own forms/assessment measures within the software and specify which clients receive them and when. You can share session notes with clients securely. Clients can journal within the system and choose to share it with you. It also includes your own referral page at counselorlisting.com at no additional charge. Session reminders via text, email, and/or recorded telephone message are included at no charge. Insurance billing is built into the software to make it easier to submit claims and increase your revenue. Session notes include check boxes and drop-down menus, which speed documentation time. You are assigned a customer service representative, who I have found to be *excellent* in helping me learn the software and troubleshoot difficulties. You can potentially reduce your monthly bill to nothing ($0/month!) by using referral code GMCSCU when you enroll and then referring others to their software.

Cons: If you're new to setting up EHR software, the learning curve can be pretty steep. There are so many things to set up and so much that the software can do that it feels pretty overwhelming initially, to be honest. Documentation is generally pretty comprehensive and my customer service representative have been able to help me through this, though. The interface isn't immediately intuitive and can feel somewhat clunky. Despite excellent functionality, the icon choices are (in my opinion) a bit cheesy in appearance. Initial setup of banking, insurance panels, credit card processing takes some time. Setting up forms for clients to complete is a nice option, but is somewhat laborious. Formatting options are limited. Not currently possible to have forms scored automatically. Very few preconfigured assessment tools included.

Overall: I am pleased with my choice of CounSol.com. It's my first EHR and I don't imagine switching to another. It seems to do almost everything I want it to do and, since customer service is so responsive, I'm confident that they will be able to implement many of my suggestions over time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Give it a try. If you aren't satisfied, they'll refund your first month's fee. Use referral code GMCSCU when you enroll to get $5 off every month.

Pros: Built-in video, HIPAA-compliant w BAA, Jonathan (personal assigned CSR), Ability to customize forms and share with clients, upload attachments and save to a specific client.

Cons: When I have to print, the forms use way too much paper even double sided. Clients can't call customer service if they are having trouble connecting, leaving it to me to do troubleshooting, which is tough afterhours. It doesn't happen often, but I would like more troubleshooting resources available for the client. I also don't understand the full fee/ copay thing- are they charged for both? Is it the negotiated rate for their insurance company or my full rate? I just want them to be able to pay their copay online because I don't currently use the platform for billing.

Overall: It has everything I need for a small practice- I could even do my billing through it but I have a long-standing relationship with my biller and will try to keep her until I retire because I'm sentimental like that. It does let me invoice directly and get paid through the site.

Some of my clients have had difficulty using the platform for video counseling and journaling, but this is usually easy to resolve or related to their hardware/ wifi. The only reason I give 4 stars for customer support is that tech support is not 24/7 and video counseling can be after hours. Clients cannot access tech support directly due to confidentiality.

I love the scheduling feature because it allows you to schedule recurring appointments with versatility to the client's needs, and allows options for updates on all recurrences when changes are made. I have asked for a document to share with clients for troubleshooting. Jonathan has been very helpful with translating my forms into easy-to-complete web forms for my clients, and very responsive to my questions and requests.

I hope in the future CounSol will offer additional or premium options like uploads for Qliq (or a phone app with HIPAA compliant texting), rating scales offered to the client upon each login for sessions (You can do this now but have to have them created, and assign for each session), and an option that does allow you to print notes using less paper in the event hard copies are required.

It's a great EHR for a solo mental health practitioner, and the price is affordable with quality service.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would really like to be able to upload my Qliq messages directly to a client's file and/or allow secure texting through a phone app. I would like to be able to select from pre-made rating scales that I can assign to clients, and ideally set a reminder to re-use that same scale at set intervals. I like the idea of a treatment planner subscription for point-and-click treatment plans related to specific diagnoses, but realize this may compromise the individuality of treatment. I don't have the energy to utilize all of the possible features that would require me setting up more forms with my CSR, who is excellent BTW.

Cons: No real cons. I sometimes find little things I wish were different and if I let them know and it makes sense for everyone, they have actually added the feature. Pretty Cool yeah?

Overall: I have used CounSol for about 2 years now. It is well worth the money. Some of the ways I use it: I created custom intakes which all client's fill out in the encrypted portal before the first visit (if I see something concerning, I'm able to contact the client before our first visit, plus I already have an idea about what to expect). Client's also electronically sign HIPPAA, Informed Consent, Policies, etc. I am able to create labels for clients such as "couple" "minor" etc., so that the system automatically assigns certain forms or resources to be available just to those clients. Client's often schedule on line, saving us all time and the reminder emails/texts help my clients to show up and help me look professional. One of the greatest features is that the portal colors, fonts, etc. are easily customized so that the portal matches my website and logo and it doesn't say "CounSol" anywhere. This gives the impression that it's in house and not just a service. Then there is all the billing (customized invoices, super bills, printing 1500 insurance claims), private encrypted messaging, progress notes/psychotherapy notes, interactive calendar, etc., etc., I also can download everything and store pass-word protected files just in the event that something goes very wrong (which won't happen because CounSol has redundancy, but I like the extra security and knowing that I can access records without a connection). Now, I've saved the best for last! If I get stuck, I can call and customer service is usually right there or call back very soon! For me that is the biggest reason I made the switch from another service. If I'm stuck, I need help, just like my clients! I embrace technology, but need a human being to aid me if I don't understand. Give it a shot and I think you won't look back!

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't be afraid to call for support if it seems confusing. A couple of times doing that and it will all make simple sense.

Pros: All of the features (my clients love it, too). I can make announcements about dates I am out of office or reminders on the log-in page so clients can all be made aware of changes, etc.

Cons: Not all of the features are available in the mobile version (but I just click "full site" and I can access them easily that way.

Overall: After years of being in private practice, I could tell that I was getting close to burn out. Like most of us, I am the therapist, the janitor, the office manager, the marketing team, and everything in between. It was just too much on me. At the suggestion of a friend, I started looking at scheduling software. I searched online and ran across several different options, and even tried them out. I found one that I liked, but it was designed for hair salons and similar business. I made notes of my favorite features and then started another search once I realized that electronic records and scheduling systems were actually within my cost point. I had no idea what was possible before. I still have the piece of paper somewhere in my stack where I sat down with all of the various software programs I found that were designed with therapists in mind. I wrote down all of the features and then bubbled in which programs had which features. Counsol was the only one that had all of the features that I needed. Client scheduling, reminders, records, and a way to complete all paperwork online before the session, check. A way to integrate credit card/online payments and to work seamlessly with my website, check. A way to conduct sessions via secure electronic means inside the system (so no one has to download special programs), check. A place for me to store common worksheets that I share with clients, and even to set it up so clients only get access to those things that pertain to their treatment, check. A way for clients to download Superbills to share with their insurance companies, check. A way to share notes with clients on what to do between sessions, check. A place for me to privately share my reflections to help keep me on track, check. A journal option for clients that allows them to record their thoughts between sessions and to decide whether or not to share it with me, check (no one else has this to my knowledge and my clients absolutely adore it). A way to block clients from being able to schedule at certain times, or to only allow certain session lengths or types (phone, video, etc.), check. Everything with Counsol has been perfect. Once the tech team made an upgrade that wasn't my favorite. I contacted Jonathan and within hours, they had made it possible for me to go back to the other way. I can't say enough good things. They have made my life much easier for the past few years. I can't imagine functioning without them. I now have peace of mind!

Recommendations to other buyers: This software makes it easy for me to do my notes. Open up the site on my phone, click on the full site version, and then use an app that transcribes my speech right into my client notes. Huge time saver!

Best value you will find, ease of use and the additional text message reminders are worth it alone!

Cons: Inability to have multiple counselors on one account and being supplied only one account manager, could be fantastic but I am slightly intimidated by mine and don't know how to switch

Overall: I have been using CounSol for a few years now and it has made my life so much easier. Online scheduling, the ability to have clients complete their forms prior to their intake appointment speeds things up. Also the ability to track everything; progress notes are easier, forms are easier, filing is easier. This was our first venture away from paper files and I can honestly say I have been more than impressed.

There are a few things I would still like to see first and foremost the ability to have more than one clinician on a single account. I am a small agency whom employs another counselor only part time so all of the entering and tracking on the system still has to be done by me; the account owner. Also, you are assigned a single account manager -where I could see could be very beneficial. However, sometimes I feel the one I have been assigned isn't always the most professional or courteous. I have taken to making my requests on their help page if I absolutely cannot find the answer under FAQ's.

Overall, however; this is a wonderful program and has helped my business keep up in the world of technology. My clients love the text message and email reminders about appointments and for the price you won't find anything better!!

Recommendations to other buyers: We researched several EHR programs when we were planning our switch from paper files and found this one to be the most effective and the most affordable. I am very happy with my service and plan on being a customer for many years to come

Overall: Switching to counsol has made managing my private practice much easier. Customer support has been very responsive and the developers have implemented many of my suggested changes. The other development changes that have been made have all been imprints improvements and made this a very flexible and robust system.

The free initial setup input all of my client intake forms, and then I was able to go into those forms and improve them in order to take advantage of the technology. I have also copied and modified those forms for individual clients, as needed. Modification and customization is very easy and intuitive for me. These features were much better than some of the very expensive systems I encountered during my search.

My clients love the ease-of-use, and that we don't need to spend time on forms or payment during our sessions. They also love receiving appointment reminders (which I send out on their cancelation cutoff day). Some of my clients enjoy using the journaling feature, which allows them to choose whether or not they share an entry with me.

I mainly use the system for scheduling, billing, and collecting client intake documents. The integrated scheduling and billing features have been major accounting time savers for me, and having secure credit card storage in the system means that I don't have to worry about billing clients, and I have a way to confirm appointments with credit cards (especially virtual sessions), as well as charge clients for late cancelation, according to my cancelation policy.

I still take notes on paper, as I prefer not to be typing during my clinical sessions. However, in order to keep client files as required by law yet manage paper in my office, I have been scanning and uploading closed client files to CounSol as attachments, and then shredding the paper.

One downside was that one of the main features I hoped to use when selecting a system was the video chat feature. I have not found that to be reliable. It might be because of my Windows 8 operating system or drivers, but the customer support for that feature was lacking. I have been a user for over 3 years now, so perhaps that has improved along with the other features.

Other than that, the system is perfect for me and a major time, money and space saver. I can't imagine life without it now. Thank you!

Pros: Extensive functionality - scheduling and automatic text message reminders to patients, billing, tracking of payments, ability to accept credit cards, easy to use progress note and biopsychosocial history forms, sending claims to insurance.

Cons: I haven't figured out how to track releases of patient info as required by HIPAA.

Overall: I have been using CounSol.com since I started my practice in 2014. I looked at several other EHRs, and I was impressed by CounSol.com's functionality, as well as the access that I would have to my records when/if I close my practice. Since then, it has only improved. When the ICD10 changeover happened, it automatically changed all the codes, and I only have to type a few words of a diagnosis in for it to pull up a short menu of full diagnosis names and codes for new patients. I can take credit card payments through it, and it added the ability to seamlessly bill insurance companies in a few minutes and then keep track of which claims have been paid. It's easy to schedule appointments, review progress notes, and determine which clients I still need to submit insurance claims on, and it enables me to run my practice without having any staff. My patients also love getting text message reminders for appointments.

Customer service also has been quick to respond to any issues. For example, I recently started billing a very small insurance company that only takes paper claims. Counsol.com's clearinghouse partner is able to print claims, but my account interface wasn't designed to let them know that I needed a paper claim. I contacted the clearinghouse and they told me what I needed my submission to them to say, then I contacted Counsol.com, and within 24 hours, Counsol.com had adjusted the interface to enable requesting a paper claim. It's worked perfectly since then.

All in all, I am extremely happy that I chose this EHR, and I recommend it whenever a colleague is considering making the switch from paper records.

Pros: Booking Online, Invoicing, and that my files are all in one spot

Cons: I think because we are in Canada some of the information does not relate to us across the border. It is also costs more money then other programs I have seen and it would be great if there was a better bundle plan for clinics that have many clinicians.

The feedback from my staff has been that when they need assistance or help it has been difficult to get immediate assistance, or no follow through. They end up figuring it out, but it would be nice if there was a call in number for general questions or assistance perhaps.

Overall: I am in private practice, and did not want the expense of an office manager. When I found Counsol I was more than excited as it was an office manager, and so much more. I love that we do not have to have paper files, and we no longer have the expense of needing extra storage. All of my fellow practitioners use Counsol and love it. Our clients often remind us how they like that they can book online, cancel and reschedule without having to wait for a call back. It has saved our practice a lot of money and time as it caters to our every need. Thank you Counsol for putting such a great program together. I honestly do not know what we would do without it.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is great for psychologists to use, but in my office I have a speech therapist and a Occupational therapist it would be great if it could serve multiple disciplines but I understand it is Psychology based. ***The biggest thing I do not like is if I am working with a family they have to each register, I can link them but in terms of invoicing and marriage counselling sometimes couples get upset that they have todo the process for each individuals. It would be great if they only needed to do it once, and there spouse of child was attached and you could click on their name for insurance purposes. I don't know if that makes sense, but that is one complaint I get a lot from couples and families as sometimes I see three of their children and they find it time time consuming to do each child separate versus being able to put a family or couple together somehow. My colleague only does psychological assessment and it is difficult to invoice for this as well.

Pros: We have used it since 1/2018 and continue to enjoy its ease of use, ability for clients to schedule 24/7, and our ability to track income. We've made recommendations and CounSol team reviewed and implemented several, which we appreciated (such as Happy Birthday notices to clients). Clients submit complete intakes online prior to the session, secure pmt billing info (that we or our staff don't keep or have access to but 3rd party encrypted site manages). That translates into more actual counseling time with clients and payment for sessions at the beginning of each day (& notification if payment didn't go thru so client is contacted for updated info, that is verified, prior to their session. The video and phone counseling links are excellent, as is the ability for clients to schedule weeks in advance. Multiple methods of reminders send 24, 36 or 48 hrs prior to sessions (text, email and automated voice) which clients can select as to notifications they prefer. Great support team who respond immediately or within hours. This program has improved the operations of our practice greatly!

Cons: The only negative we'd have is that setting up the forms (intakes) doesn't allow choice of font size, so the intakes are more pages than we'd like, due to font and layout spacing that we are unable to change. Other than that...we're very happy with the program and have recommended it to other mental health professionals we know.

Overall: Increased ability to track income (daily, weekly, monthly, custom dates). Increased ability to allow new clients to register easily with all paperwork completed ahead of scheduling an appointment.

Pros: Easy to use, short learning curve, great price, meets ALL of our needs. We looked at a lot of options that were way more expensive and didn't have the features CounSol offers. The ability for our clients to book and pay through the client portal (a lot of similar solutions do NOT allow clients to pay through the portal), the ability to use our merchant account and not being restricted to Stripe or similar - so we get better rates on our credit card processing. Love that we have the ability to customize our client portal with our logo and branding. And so many other customizable features - just can't say enough good things.

Cons: We don't like the lack of a mobile application - which CounSol has promised is coming. It's getting to be more of an issue for us because our online counseling with families and teens is increasing. We hope that this technology is available soon or sadly, we will be forced to find another product. The only other thing I would say is that the overall look could be more modern. But what it lacks in that area it more than makes up for in functionality.

Overall: We have been using CounSol for almost 5 years. It's been the best all in one solution for us. CounSol handles everything - billing, patient management, progress notes and treatment plans, online portal, video conferencing... Customer Service is downright excellent - super responsive and we've had the same support person since the beginning. Highly recommend.

Pros: The combination of many services in one such as online scheduling, appointment reminders, secure record management, templates as well as the ability to upload custom forms, billing including invoices and credit cards and even submitting to insurance -- all in one place helps me manage my private practice well and efficiently. With appointment reminders, my no shows were drastically reduced. Most clients really appreciate them. Customer support is excellent and very responsive by telephone and email. The software is often updated and new features added. It is very easy to learn and use. I have been an extremely satisfied user since 2013.

Cons: I would like to see two features added - an app for cell phones and encrypted appointment reminders. I can still use the service on my phone through a browser, but would like to see an app at some point. In order to comply with HIPPA, I require clients who want appointment reminders to sign a release acknowledging that messages are not sent encrypted, but would prefer the appointment reminders be encrypted. Overall, the service meets my expectations for HIPPA compliance especially with the Business Associate Agreement.

Overall: Overall, CounSol.com has been a cost effective way to run my private practice. My account manager has been very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend.

Pros: 1. Strong security protocols for both client & providers. 2. Ease in setting up. 3. Visually user-friendly design. 4. Excellent Tech support (something we've NEVER said about any program before). (tech assigned to us) is always friendly, patient & responds quickly, even after initial set-up. There's a 'submit help request form' & a well-organized "Help Manual" icon also available 5. We were able to do most of set-up ourselves, but if we hit a snag & contacted tech support, they'd walk us through it or advise us re better methods. 6. Integrated credit card process went smoothly, as did PCI, scheduling & video set-up (in plan we choose). 7. We receive a lot of leads through our website & were pleasantly surprised to discover an increase in traffic immediately after we began using Counsol (& their integrated partner counselorlisting.com). We saw an increase of 3-4 new clients per week (over our normal averages). 8. We recommended a few ideas (automated birthday notices to clients, etc.). Counsol appears to be responsive to customer's ideas. 9. Very easy to link from our existing website into their server based system for client's to schedule appointments & fill out forms online. It's been a fairly smooth transition for clients visiting our website. 10. During initial transition, Counsol had us upload our forms & they set them up quickly, then walked us through edit process. It helped get us up & running very quickly. We're already recommending Counsol to our peers.

Cons: Forms layout could be refined a bit (greater horizontal layout ability, rather than vertical, would decreases of pages. It's the only concern any of our clients expressed, even though the registration process actually goes quickly. (Some people look at of pages or 'length' of a form, not actual of questions or the click-through ease of those questions).

Overall: Ease of use, safety protocols are strong, support is excellent, user-friendly, easy integration.

Cons: That it isn't yet offered to Group practices.

I would love if the out of office feature for email could be set up on a recurring basis. i.e. I am offsite on Mondays and Fridays and would love to somehow represent that to clients on the calendar feature and in email response. (Maybe this is already possible though...?)

Overall: I learned of Counsol almost 4 years and have had an incredible experience. Most striking is how invested and responsive Jonathan (my assigned representative) has been in helping me address any questions or needs. I am a bit technologically challenged, and yet found Counsol to be very user friendly, particularly because Jonathan was available to answer my questions over the phone and in real time.

The features I most appreciate are the electronic scheduling feature, which has saved me hours each week that I used to spend playing email/phone tag with clients, only for them to respond after the offered time has been accepted by another client. I also appreciate the ease of billing, whether to submit client's out of network insurance claims or to keep payment records for myself. The mail feature puts me at ease given it is HIPAA Compliant, and has also been recommended to me by HIPAA trainers above all others for this reasons.

Also note that I have referred dozens of friends and colleagues to Counsol, all of whom have thanked me for the recommendation given their similar positive experiences.

Thank you to Jonathan and Counsol for allowing me to focus on what matters most, which is client care, and helping me to efficiently and effectively take care of the rest.

Pros: CounSol does it all! I've been using CounSol for five years. Every once in a while I hear about another EHR and upon exploration, they always fall short of CounSol's features. Where others fall short, CounSSol excels. It's hard to put a limit on sharing what I love best, but I'll try to list a few: the group practice feature works well; invoicing, credit card and insurance integration make billing a breeze; it's very fast to complete treatment notes; clients can self-schedule; the notification system really works and has reduced no-shows and late-shows; I can easily create fillable forms; the secure message system (email) is HIPAA compliant and easy to use; my clients love the client portal and journal feature; and everything is automatically part of the client record. Oh, can't forget to mention that customer service at CounSol is great-- they are easy to get in touch with, swift to respond and listen well.

Cons: Some clients have struggled finding their invoices because they need to click the print button in order to view, print or download them.

Overall: CounSol has facilitated my group practice to grow without a hitch, reduced client no-shows because their notification system works by text, email and phone, and gives me peace of mind because I know my records are accessible, safe and secure.

This program has cut my "paperwork time" down significantly

I appreciate that I can conduct nearly all my business through this program (billing, documentation, reminders for client appointments, video counseling, etc.)

Customer service is very quick to respond and very helpful

Cons: Not much I would change. I really like this program! I wish there was a way to view upload files to the program (like maybe a "preview") without having to download them. I wonder if there is a way to build faxing ability into the program? (i.e. If I needed to fax a treatment plan to another provider, it would be incredibly time saving and convenient and also money saving (because I could eliminate separate fax service), if I could just fax through the program some how. Not sure if that is a possibility, but it would be great if there was a way. Lastly, I wish you could change margins, text size, etc. or something, so when you print a document it doesn't take up so many pages (this is hard to fax or mail and also creates excess paper files)

Overall: This program has streamlined my practice. I have been able to lessen time on paperwork, billing, etc. and spend more time face-to-face with my clients.I also love the referral program where you get a discount for referring someone else! I also love that Counsol is on top of HIPAA compliancy and making the program more and more easy to use, current with the times, and improving the overall quality of the program. Thank you!

Pros: When looking for practice management systems, I researched many different options. I originally landed on Counsel because they offered the video feature within the practice management system, however I stayed with Counsol for the ease in features. I was able to upload my own forms, which made it feel like a more personal fit for my clients. The client portal allows clients to have access to their own account. They can fill out paperwork, access an on-line journal, check appointments, see notes I've left for them from our session and even pay their bill on-line.

The integrated ERA feature has streamlined my billing process. It is incredibly easy to keep up with client billing and send bills electronically. I love that all client information, notes, etc. are filed in one place.

Perhaps one of the best features is the customer service. I have been pleasantly surprised at how responsive my personal customer service person has been. He is thorough, helpful and very quick in response.

Cons: My major struggle is with the video component. It did not work well for me. Most of my clients did not have a large enough bandwidth to allow for the video to work. I finally ended up dropping the video portion of the system, and I'm using another video platform. I signed up for the video feature, however I stayed with Counsol because the rest of the features are so good.

Pros: The reminder texts has reduced my cancellations by 75% and increased my revenue as a result. The customer service has been amazing. I probably hound them too much about possible changes and they always hear my needs and and either forward ideas to their tech team or give me a really understandable reason why my request is may not help others. They've incorporated several of the suggestions I've made. They're really open to helping and taking feedback whenever they can and I've see the database grow steadily and quickly as a result. It's VERY easy to use which makes it great for those who are intimidated by technology.

Cons: Only tiny personal preferences really. Most of my requests they've incorporated. Pretty awesome.

Overall: My no-show rate wasn't great before I got CounSol. Now, it's very rare for me to have a no-show with their reminder texts. Confusion around scheduling is virtually eliminated. I used to have to do a lot by hand to create invoices, write notes, log communications and reschedule clients. CounSol has streamlined all of that. The option for clients to reschedule, print invoices, communicate with me and sign forms all online and all on the same interface is so great. My practice and my professional life are very organized now. Thanks CounSol for all you've done for me in all the times I've had to reach out. You've been consistently awesome!

Comments: I tried and tested over 10 different online scheduling, billing, practice management options. Many had good features, but none had the range of flexibility I needed for my unique needs--except for CounSol, that is.

For example, I primarily need it for scheduling and billing, but not for an online medical record (which it does very well though) as I use old school paper charts still. I can opt out of having to make notes with CounSol and can't with others.

Another thing I needed was for my clients to be able to schedule themselves if they want through their own portal. Other programs require you to approve the appointment request though first. In my practice, I want LESS steps, not more. And CounSol let's them schedule their own sessions without my approval, though I think I can require them to if I want. The bottom line point is that they have the most flexibility in how YOU need to customize it for YOUR practice vs conform your practice to its system like so many others I tried. And my clients love not having to play phone, text, or email tag just to get an appointment (as a solo practitioner somedays are busier than others and I can't always get back to people right away). That aspect alone has made my life SO much simpler and has improved the client experience as well.

Also, customer support responds very quickly and I have the same account person assigned to me who knows my account!

So bottom line: as someone who researches the heck out of products and services before settling in them, I can say this is hands down the best online practice management tool I've ever tried and recommend it highly.

Pros: The customer service and ability to get adapted for the way you want things done is fantastic. Over the years I have been with them, this has been the case in small and large ways. The integration to be able to handle things all together, from billing to running a group practice is great. Clients appreciate the features in the client portal and I like the way I can integrate EHR features (like appointments) into other areas of my life outside of the EHR.

Cons: While having integrated online tools is a great feature and is helpful to help clients find it, there are limitations with the video platform that prevent me from recommending it as my primary video platform, although it is good enough as a backup platform. Additionally, as one of the smaller companies, there are a smaller number of colleagues to consult with compared to other EHR platforms, but that has been changing in recent years.

Overall: The platform is a real savings in my business and streamlines a lot of the work in my practice, from when I was a part-time solo practice to now being a multi-staff group practice. When other clinicians think about not taking this step, I think about the number of ways that it pays for itself - saved costs on handling billing, saved time on not handling client appointments, lowered no show rates from clients being notified, etc.

Comments: I started using CounSol after transitioning from a large community mental health agency to my own solo practice. As I did not have the resources to hire someone to manage my scheduling etc, I needed a HIPAA compliant practice management program that would really manage my practice. CounSol has been extremely valuable. I have used it since I started my practice and still see no need to hire office management staff. I often receive positive feedback from clients about it.

Here is an example of how efficiently CounSol has worked for me (all taking place without me having any contact with the client during the process): a prospective client sees my profile on Psychology Today and is routed to my CounSol site; they register as a new client; they make an appointment to see me using the online calendar; they receive a text message and email to confirm the appointment; they complete the paperwork for the first appointment online; they arrive at my office and I have already reviewed their paperwork.

Additional features I find very beneficial include online billing; sending and receiving secure email; the option for me to upload documents for clients to read; an online journal clients can share with me; treatment plans; progress notes; etc. I also appreciate the frequent updates / improvements made to the program and its cost-effectiveness.

One feature of CounSol that I initially used but later discontinued is the video session option - there was too much of a time lag with the audio portion of this feature.

In a nutshell, CounSol is an excellent practice management program!

Pros: I work primarily with kids and many of the EHRs for psychologists are geared for adult clients. I love that CounSol allows you to create personalized forms, note templates, etc. I also really like the client portal feature so that I can be completely paperless and clients can access what they need 24/7 without having to contact me. I also really appreciated that it was very little work for me to set things up in the portal--I have direct access to a person who I sent my existing forms to and he magically made them show up in the portal.

Cons: One issue that I have is very specific to working with children, which I realize not all practitioners would need. I have many children I work with who have divorced parents and it would be very helpful to have the possibility of 2 separate parent log ins (2 separate passwords) for 1 child account. My understanding is that the coding involved in this would be extensive but it is complicated to explain to parents that they have to create 2 separate accounts to complete paperwork for 1 child and that only one of the 2 accounts is a "real" account.

Overall: The customer service is outstanding! I have one person assigned to me and I can directly call him and ask questions, troubleshoot, etc. easily.

Pros: The support, definitely. Very helpful and available. This program offers portal, credit card linkage, email, online insurance submissions, and tele-health capability, with good presentation of data, easy movement throughout the program, I can correct my numerous errors. All HIPPA compliant and encrypted. I've tried therapy Partners, Therapy Notes, Simple Practice, and like Counsol best. The clinical side is fine, I know how to keep therapy notes no problem no matter the program,, it's the billing/insurance/balances/statements bookkeeping side that makes me crazy and this program makes me much less crazy than others I've tried, or at least, I have access to Johnathan (who is now on medication) who fixes the problem.

Cons: Would it kill them to write a freaking manual? Nothing is particularly complicated to do, but you have to know where to click first and where to click second, and these are state secrets! Known only to Johnathan!Their help section is designed for people who don't need much help. The calendar is small, and doesn't let me set the colors I want to show different kinds of sessions, also I really would like a system to track No shows and cancellations on the calendar.

Pros: This software has simplified my practice management. I can do notes in less than 3 minutes and billing in just a couple of clicks. I get notices through CounSol when insurance has paid that includes the breakdown of what they paid and/or didn't pay and why and can post it right to the client's account. This software eliminated the need for an billing account manger saving me thousands of dollars and headache. The more I can do for myself the more time I have for my clients. You would think that having someone else do billing for you would save time but it has not proved true for me. In the past I still had to explain and teach a lot plus having to deal with a full or even part time employee takes a lot of time and energy not to mention it adds to problems I would have to deal with. This way I can do it myself and feel comfortable that my billing is done right.

Cons: I have tried my best to come up with a negative and I can not think of anything.

Overall: Before I started using CounSol I was still using paper charts. I have been able to convert all of my files, billing and invoices to electronic records. Using CounSol I can do video sessions and this plus all electronic records makes it possible to operate from anywhere.

One of the repr. is my account manager and he is super great! He never fails to call me or email me back quickly (usually within minutes) and always has the answer!

Overall: After trying out several practice management softwares, I decided on Counsol. I have been using Counsol for over 2 years. The main reasons I chose Counsol were the professional-looking interface, the ease of use, and the flexibility to customize forms. I especially like the ability to have clients read, fill out, and sign forms online. When they come in for their first session I don't have to take up most of the session with paperwork. I like that I'm not tied to pre-existing forms, and I have created many of my own forms for the purpose. Clients also appreciate getting email reminders the day before their session. Having a place to exchange secure messages and upload documents is great. The insurance billing feature allows me to do all my billing with a few clicks. This saves a lot of time and frustration. The information auto-populates from the invoice, which is produced automatically from the calendar. I would prefer to skip the invoice and have information auto-populate from a treatment plan, but that's not a major issue. Jonathan has been very responsive whenever I have a problem or suggestion, and a couple of my suggestions were quickly incorporated into the software. The only feature that leaves room for improvement is reports. It would be great to have a lot more reports, either pre-formatted or customizable, about the practice. Counsol regularly adds features, so I wouldn't be surprised if they also improve this area. Every once in a while I give another look at other software, but I always come back to Counsol. It offers a combination of features, ease of use and customer service not available in other companies, even more expensive ones. Overall a great value.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's definitely worth the money.

Pros: It is very quick to learn and easy to use. It has all the features I need and then some! I like the pre-populated progress notes, they have everything you need. I have been audited by insurance carriers multiple times, and each time I have passed because the progress notes have everything on them the auditors are looking for.

Cons: There have been things that initially were missing, that other software programs I have used had available. However, when I emailed customer service with my suggestions to add things - they ACTUALLY did it! So because of that, I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

Overall: I have nearly completely digitized my entire practice - while I do still keep hard copy files for each client (that's just the "old school" counselor in me!) I honestly don't have to with this software. I have passed multiple audits because the progress notes, calendar log of appointments, assessment, and treatment plans have all the information the auditors are looking for. Plus, typing progress notes in between client sessions is a breeze - it literally takes me less than 5 minutes! I also really like how clients can access a "Patient Portal" where they can schedule appointments, make payments, and send me messages. Pros: 1. Confirmation email and text sent to patient at time of scheduling. Reminders are also an option. I wanted the confirmation email and SimplePractice would not provide one. 2. Counsol integrates Square. 3. Prompt, personal service from your own Personal Account Manager by phone or email. 4. Counsol prevents accidental double-booking. If you try to double book you need to check an override box. 5. On the calendar there is a Today button so that unlike on SP you don't need to go hunting for today's date. 6. You can relate two or more clients so that the option to schedule a couple or family session is easy every time you make an appointment. 7. You can change the IP in a couple as appropriate should a different partner want to seeek insurance reimbursement. 8. Secure messaging with either an individual or couple. 9. On the iPhone app you can see the first names of both partners in a couple session. No panic lol. 10. You can send an announcement to everyone in your practice, or to all active patients, or to people you identify as being in a certain category (like couples).

Cons: It's not as pretty as my prior programs (SimplePractice and Theranest) But you do get to customize colors and fonts to coordinate with your website, and patients see your name rather than the software's branding.

Overall: Nobody loves doing notes but literally every day when I use this program I find myself thinking how glad I am I switched. Counsol has dramatically improved my work life.

Pros: I love everything about this software. I am not that computer savvy but this program made it easy for me to transition to my first EHR. What makes it even better is they assign you with a CAM "Counselor Account Manager" who is available to assist you in navigating through the system and with any roadblocks you may encounter. I needed an EHR that I didn't have to do a complete overhaul to get adjusted too. I was working with SquareUp (merchant) and Office Ally (clearinghouse) already and CounSol accepted both of those. The video conferencing feature is great for distance counseling and backup for weather issues. My clients just click on a button and we're in session. I must say my CAM is phenomenal. While working through the tutorials I saw that there was a feature that they were not using. Talked to the agent and he went to research it. Called me back to say "hey talked to my programming team and we are going to add this feature, thanks for pointing this out." So cool! I mean I could go on and on but I'll leave you with this one last piece. They have a online journal through my clients secure portal and to cut down on buying journals or telling clients to get one they now can go into their profile and write daily. I don't have to see it but if they want me to all they have to do is click the "share" button and its easy as that and I can respond to them as well. CounSol I think I've fallen in love! (smile)

Pros: The ease of use. It is exceptionally intuitive when following links from one section to another. With only a few questions to the support staff at CounSol, I could easily navigate the menus.

The customer support has been top notch with very quick response time. We have added a number of therapists over the last 60 days and I have always had quick turnaround of forms that needed to be uploaded.

I looked at several other client platforms and CounSol was so far above the others, it made my choice very easy. There is no other platform to use in your therapy practice.

Cons: I can't think of anything that doesn't work like I wanted it to or thought it would.

The only change I recommend is the text message given when reminding a client of their next appt. It states:

"Reminder of your appointment with _________ on Mon Aug 27th at 3:00PM. Text 713-299-XXXX to make changes DO NOT REPLY". The DO NOT REPLY immediately after the phrase "to make changes" is very confusing. It appears to say you can make changes, but don't respond to this text, which I think you can do and the text would come to the phone number mentioned.

I made the suggestion to the support staff at CounSol and he may have added this software change to the upcoming updates.

Overall: Very very good. My wife was suggested this software at a seminar she went to and it was the best recommendation we have ever received.

Cons: my clients almost always make a duplicate account and I don't understand why that keeps happening and it's a bit cumbersome. Lately it seems better. not sure if it's the system or my clients.

Overall: I have been using CounSol for almost two years now. I'm not sure why it isn't more popular that it is because it seems to have all the things I need. Because I currently work two jobs I haven't really sat down to keep learning about the software but honestly the more I learn the more I like the program. I plan to sit down with it and use it to it's full advantage soon and I am quite excited and know that it has the features I want. I can upgrade and downgrade the video capability as needed if I have a client in need of video. I also really love the shared journal aspect that I don't think other practice management systems have! Especially because I work with complex trauma, sometimes my clients want to tell me things but it feels safer to write. Therefore they can inform me things early on in treatment so I am aware, but they don't have to tell their story until they are ready. I think my clients who use it feel more attended to and engaged which is important as I am a solo, private pay practitioner. Also, Customer support representative is my support person and he always responds timely to my requests and questions and I have never had an issue or concern.

Recommendations to other buyers: I still need to make my own templates and paperwork and can't offer feedback until I figure out how to do that.

Pros: I love Counsol because is a friendly software, it helps me to keep organized and to manage my schedule easily. Features I love: reminders to the patients, my patients can have their own, private journal and they can choose if they want to share the entries with me or not. Recently, they added an option to create a birthday message I can send to my clients. Fees are clear and I have always had a great support, especially when creating or uploading my own forms.

Cons: I have not attempted to use online sessions for the last year, but before it used to be a little complicated for the clients to connect. From my side was fine and I love I could take notes.

(I cannot describe my experience with insurance billing feature because I am not in any insurance panel)

Overall: It has been a great experience so far. My assistant can access to just the features needed for appointments and billing and they find it easy to navigate. My clients like that they can communicate through the messaging in the portal or through the journal with the safety of a HIPAA compliant platform. And the few times I have called requesting assistance, I have had a prompt response.

Cons: Aesthetically it is not super sleak/shiny looking. It felt a bit overwhelming when I first logged in (admittedly I did not take utilize the guided tour option), however it is very easy to navigate and figure out. Also for what you can't figure out you have a rep (whoever you are assigned) to help you out!

To keep accounts fully current I have to go in and fill out insurance payments when they come in and then account for the remainder of the amount owed (as insurance pays less than what I charge).

Overall: I have been more than happy with my experience with CounSol! I have referred several colleagues. As I've mentioned, the customer service is so wonderful! Most of the time I have responses within 24 hrs. Usually much quicker if I'm emailing during the day.

Pros: I love how the treatment, billing and scheduling all are seamlessly integrated. I feel confident that any information I need I can easily access at any time, anywhere. I am also very impressed with the responsiveness of the customer service team.

Cons: There are currently two things I wish were different: it would make a huge difference to my clients if iOs devices were supported for the video sessions (I realizethis is not a quick fix...). The other is that there are a few places in the UI where there are identical or very similar labels on tabs at two different levels showing simultaneously, making it easy to confuse things like where you are uploading an attachment (to a session or to the total client file), or making a note. I've figured it out for myself, but it presents a traning challenge with my interns.

Overall: As a solo practitioner, I've used several different online services for managing my practice. CounSol is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Some of the things that set them apart are: seamless integration with my exisiting website; ease of use and access for clients; integration with paper-free office practices; reasonable pricing. And my favorite is the highly-responsive customer service, and their openness to suggestions for new features. CounSol is the perfect compromise for a medium-sized solo private practice.

So thankful that CounSol is the software platform for my practice

Cons: I have been using CounSol for 3 years and every time I have voiced a concern - mainly something that would be helpful to add to the note writing or billing portions, CSR has forwarded it to those that could do something about it, and updates were made to the software. So no complaints at all!!!

Overall: Since I started with CounSol, CSR has been wonderful to work with and the software has helped with the efficiency and comfort levels of both myself and my clients. CSR walked me through the "get started process" and has continued to be available and supportive for the last 3 years whenever I have had a question it has been quickly answered and resolved if need be. My clients often comment about how much they love the software due to its ease of access, use, and sense of control that if offers them with scheduling, billing, and communication.

Pros: The features are easy to use, and the management is constantly improving the software to meet new needs and function better. The platform allows for gathering contact information, completing treatment plans and progress notes, documenting client contact, billing, appointment reminders, and more. I love that I can access it from anywhere, as I have two offices and occasionally work from home. Support is quick in responding and open to feedback. In addition, I have several interns I supervise. I am able to easily review and sign their notes, ensuring a high quality experience for them and me.

Cons: My least favorite was the online session platform. It was easy to use; however, there was often a delay with the person on the other end, which was disruptive to the sessions.

Overall: Counsol has helped me significantly cut down on the amount of time I spend on documentation. I am so much more organized with all of my client's information in one place. Overall, my experience has been excellent, and I have recommended this product to many!

Pros: I did a lot of research before deciding on an EHR platform. What stands out the most about CounSol is its ease of use for both myself and clients. Whenever I get a new client I direct them right to my special client portal link and we're instantly connected.

Right on the main page are all of my appointments and earning for the month - it's a perfect visual to ensure that I don't forget anything. Scheduling is easy, I can share messages with my clients that are more secure than an email, and I have all of my forms easily accessible - making my entire practice paperless!

Cons: I had the most difficulty with setting up my hours on the calendar, but I was able to easily troubleshoot this with CSR, my CounSol personal account manager.

Overall: I have been able to eliminate questions that come with any new client beginning therapy. I am able to streamline the process through CounSol, as the client becomes fully aware of practice policies, while telling themselves about me. I can share information with clients without worrying about HIPAA violations. Now I even get birthday reminders - which makes me feel better connected with my clients! I would highly recommend CounSol to any practitioner due to its ease of use, quality, and affordability.

Comments: I have been using CounSol for 2 years and am very happy with both the functionality and the customer service.

The major selling points for me were the inclusion of client self-scheduling (with a friendly and non-buggy user interface), secure messaging, appointment reminders via email and text at no extra cost, and inclusion of schedule, clinical records, and payment records in one user interface.

Most of my clients really like the client portal and prefer to manage their appointments online versus making a phone call. One reviewer complained that it's a long process to get a client started, but the system provides a lot of options in terms of what the client is required to complete upon login, so I don't know if that is really a credible complaint. However, when a client comes in and needs to complete forms, it would be nice if I could allow the initial access to the portal without requiring them to access email for the login link.

I am happy with Stripe.com for credit card processing and have not had any problems with the interface or integration between Stripe and CounSol. It is very easy to apply payments to invoices and it is nice that they now have an option to cancel an appointment but still leave the invoice active for late cancel and no-show fees.

Setting available hours is not as intuitive as other parts of the system. It is set up to provide a high level of control over what clients are allowed to self-schedule, and once it is set up it works fine.

There is a timezone setting for each client, so if you are doing phone or video sessions, the system will send out reminders with the time listed in the client's timezone which is super helpful for those of us licensed in multiple states.

Creating new forms is very cumbersome, but my service rep Jonathan was very helpful in uploading my forms so I just used the form creator to make small adjustments.

I have a practice with several contract therapists and there is no option for one master admin account, but we are a small enough practice that we have been able to work around that limitation.

The development team does a good job of making sure they have tested things thoroughly before rolling out new functionality and to date I have not seen any bugs introduced with an update (a major feat in the "get it out quick" software world). The team has also been very accommodating in making minor tweaks that help improve usability.

Pros: It is easy to use and everything is in one place : my personal notes, my progress notes, forms to clients to sign online, emailing clients, billing, and calendar.

Cons: I still have a problem that I couldn't get customer service to resolve regarding billing invoices with a client. The billing shows a zero balance but the payments are not connected to the correct invoices because I let the client manage it from her end. I ended that ability for clients to do this but I still have this billing mess and customer service couldn't help me. So that's annoying.

Overall: I really like the billing process and how I can keep everything online. I wish I could upload photos - like when a client sends me a photo or I take a pic of a kid's sandtray. I'd love for that to be in with their file on counsol.

Pros: I like the fact that I can have everything at my fingertips. I can do all of my progress notes and have clients complete forms online. I can also add attachments. So everything is at my fingertips for when I need to share information with providers or other appropriate entities. I also have the options to upgrade if I ever want to offer services via video. This is a wonderful EHR system. Always dependable. Always coming up with new features that are helpful. My clients love reminders for appointments and I had this before many doctor's offices in the area.

Cons: One of the things I do not like is that I cannot amend progress notes without it seeming like I finished a progress note on a later date. However, I have not asked for this to be a feature....

Overall: Excellent! I have found my interactions with my support person to be extremely helpful. I am so happy I picked this EHR, because once you pick one, it is difficult to change, so you want one that is reliable and compliant with state and federal regulations.

Pros: I have been with CounSol since 2013. It provides most of the management tools I need to develop my solo private practice. I am able to have a mostly "paper-free" office which I really like. All notes, including correspondence with clients, is in one place. Clients like the ease of registering & scheduling as well as paying through their portal account. The account manager, Jonathan, is amazing; he is very responsive & always succeeds in addressing any problem I'm having.

Cons: The billing function of the software could be more user-friendly. I'd like to see the capability of exporting to accounting software such as Quickbooks. Accounting records occasionally get off track; sometimes it's impossible for me to find the source of inaccurate accounting. I'm unhappy that Office Ally has more than doubled their fees for processing claims but that is not within CounSol's ability to manage.

Overall: CounSol helps with organization of records and has helped save time with insurance billing.

Cons: No integrated solution, wish all calendar items synced not just last month, better sorting and reporting capabilities.

Overall: First of all, let me tell you I wanted to give Counsel five stars because, for the most part, their solution has been fantastic for us. The text confirmations for clients, overall ease of setting up billing, and linking to Gmail calendar are great.

The reason it is getting four stars is a few items:

1. If you have more than one counselor in your practice and want integrated solutions for all counselors, this is not your best bet. Having to have four separate log-ins and four separate browsers is not very practical. We've been told for 2 years a solution is in the works but nothing so far.

2. The reporting and sorting capabilities (especially for billing) are too limited. Wish we had more abilities to sort by the amount and other ways.

3. No mobile app yet, but there is now a mobile mode for the GUI which is fairly good.

Overall, 4 stars, creeping up on a 4.5 and a definite 5 if they ever improve reporting capabilities and provide an integrated solution.

Pros: I love, love that this software has helped me to create a paperless practice. I have an all-in-one software to help me with scheduling, process/progress notes, billing, and compliant messaging. My clients also really appreciate the ability to fill out paperwork in the comfort of their home and I love that I can read the intake paperwork prior to the first visit. It's a seamless process that has work well for me!

Cons: It took a little bit of time to learn the whole system and adapt it to my needs. Once I was able to customize the progress notes form and the billing function, it worked much better and saved me tons of time. It just takes time to interact and make all the software optimally functional for your practice.

Overall: Overall, I have no regrets and I let others know all the time that this is a solid software and customer service is very responsive. I am certain that this software has saved me time and fees for an admin, and has gained me income with the ability to integrate credit card billing. Clients have commented they like the ability to print receipts and to utilize the messaging/journaling functions. I truly like how this has transformed my practice.

Pros: User friendly and easy to navigate. The reminders work well to keep a high rate of session attendance and decrease no show rates. The clients like the online journal and share often. They can also send confidential emails. The customer service agent assigned to me is excellent, responds very quickly and attends to any question, concern, or problem I might run into.

Cons: I cannot change my own forms without contacting my account manager. However, the response with customer service is excellent. I would prefer the amount of payments for the week and month not be displayed on the first page I see when I log in. If I have to log in with a client present the amounts are large and in view. I would prefer that they would be on another screen that I could click and access as I needed to monitor my income.

Pros: I can do everything I need to do with Counsol - scheduling, communicating securely with clients, online sessions, billing, etc.

Cons: The learning curve of navigating it has been my least favorite aspect, but the customer service is incredible and offsets the challenging experience of learning something new.

Overall: I love Counsol because I have a point of contact I can always reach out to when/if needed, I've been able to tailor forms and documents to meet my needs, and I save tons of time on communicating with potential and current clients. I'm not going back and forth over the phone or email regarding scheduling, and I'm not having to mail or email forms to get clients registered with my practice. I also can facilitate every aspects of my practice - whether clients are seen in-person or online (no need for separate online counseling platform - it does it all!). It makes everything very seamless, easy to track, and allows me to be more efficient and productive in the ways that matter most to me.

Comments: I have done 30 day trials of several others before trying Counsol.com and a few after but I found this one to be the easiest and most complete for my needs. I also really like having the video option in the portal instead of having to have separate programs.

Pros: Options for Video sessions, secure chat and emailing. Client portal is nice and allows me to keep handouts in folders and dictate by labels what clients have access. I do different treatment groups and individuals so it is very nice to be able to have handouts and homework in folders that clients can access on the portal. Templates are very easy to create and customer support is great. They uploaded my privacy polices and consent forms so that clients could electronically sign and there is electronic intake all on portal. I like that all is included in one price.

Cons: I found the some of the functions a bit confusing to get used to and I feel like I am still figuring out the billing but I have never used billing software before so that is probably why. Office Ally is the service they use and I know it is popular and so I am sure it is more about me than the software. I wish there was an option to do a note for groups that would go to all the group members files automatically but that may be asking too much.
