Pros: Built-in video, HIPAA-compliant w BAA, Jonathan (personal assigned CSR), Ability to customize forms and share with clients, upload attachments and save to a specific client.

Cons: When I have to print, the forms use way too much paper even double sided. Clients can't call customer service if they are having trouble connecting, leaving it to me to do troubleshooting, which is tough afterhours. It doesn't happen often, but I would like more troubleshooting resources available for the client. I also don't understand the full fee/ copay thing- are they charged for both? Is it the negotiated rate for their insurance company or my full rate? I just want them to be able to pay their copay online because I don't currently use the platform for billing.

Overall: It has everything I need for a small practice- I could even do my billing through it but I have a long-standing relationship with my biller and will try to keep her until I retire because I'm sentimental like that. It does let me invoice directly and get paid through the site.

Some of my clients have had difficulty using the platform for video counseling and journaling, but this is usually easy to resolve or related to their hardware/ wifi. The only reason I give 4 stars for customer support is that tech support is not 24/7 and video counseling can be after hours. Clients cannot access tech support directly due to confidentiality.

I love the scheduling feature because it allows you to schedule recurring appointments with versatility to the client's needs, and allows options for updates on all recurrences when changes are made. I have asked for a document to share with clients for troubleshooting. Jonathan has been very helpful with translating my forms into easy-to-complete web forms for my clients, and very responsive to my questions and requests.

I hope in the future CounSol will offer additional or premium options like uploads for Qliq (or a phone app with HIPAA compliant texting), rating scales offered to the client upon each login for sessions (You can do this now but have to have them created, and assign for each session), and an option that does allow you to print notes using less paper in the event hard copies are required.

It's a great EHR for a solo mental health practitioner, and the price is affordable with quality service.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would really like to be able to upload my Qliq messages directly to a client's file and/or allow secure texting through a phone app. I would like to be able to select from pre-made rating scales that I can assign to clients, and ideally set a reminder to re-use that same scale at set intervals. I like the idea of a treatment planner subscription for point-and-click treatment plans related to specific diagnoses, but realize this may compromise the individuality of treatment. I don't have the energy to utilize all of the possible features that would require me setting up more forms with my CSR, who is excellent BTW.

Cons: No real cons. I sometimes find little things I wish were different and if I let them know and it makes sense for everyone, they have actually added the feature. Pretty Cool yeah?

Overall: I have used CounSol for about 2 years now. It is well worth the money. Some of the ways I use it: I created custom intakes which all client's fill out in the encrypted portal before the first visit (if I see something concerning, I'm able to contact the client before our first visit, plus I already have an idea about what to expect). Client's also electronically sign HIPPAA, Informed Consent, Policies, etc. I am able to create labels for clients such as "couple" "minor" etc., so that the system automatically assigns certain forms or resources to be available just to those clients. Client's often schedule on line, saving us all time and the reminder emails/texts help my clients to show up and help me look professional. One of the greatest features is that the portal colors, fonts, etc. are easily customized so that the portal matches my website and logo and it doesn't say "CounSol" anywhere. This gives the impression that it's in house and not just a service. Then there is all the billing (customized invoices, super bills, printing 1500 insurance claims), private encrypted messaging, progress notes/psychotherapy notes, interactive calendar, etc., etc., I also can download everything and store pass-word protected files just in the event that something goes very wrong (which won't happen because CounSol has redundancy, but I like the extra security and knowing that I can access records without a connection). Now, I've saved the best for last! If I get stuck, I can call and customer service is usually right there or call back very soon! For me that is the biggest reason I made the switch from another service. If I'm stuck, I need help, just like my clients! I embrace technology, but need a human being to aid me if I don't understand. Give it a shot and I think you won't look back!

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't be afraid to call for support if it seems confusing. A couple of times doing that and it will all make simple sense.

Pros: All of the features (my clients love it, too). I can make announcements about dates I am out of office or reminders on the log-in page so clients can all be made aware of changes, etc.

Cons: Not all of the features are available in the mobile version (but I just click "full site" and I can access them easily that way.

Overall: After years of being in private practice, I could tell that I was getting close to burn out. Like most of us, I am the therapist, the janitor, the office manager, the marketing team, and everything in between. It was just too much on me. At the suggestion of a friend, I started looking at scheduling software. I searched online and ran across several different options, and even tried them out. I found one that I liked, but it was designed for hair salons and similar business. I made notes of my favorite features and then started another search once I realized that electronic records and scheduling systems were actually within my cost point. I had no idea what was possible before. I still have the piece of paper somewhere in my stack where I sat down with all of the various software programs I found that were designed with therapists in mind. I wrote down all of the features and then bubbled in which programs had which features. Counsol was the only one that had all of the features that I needed. Client scheduling, reminders, records, and a way to complete all paperwork online before the session, check. A way to integrate credit card/online payments and to work seamlessly with my website, check. A way to conduct sessions via secure electronic means inside the system (so no one has to download special programs), check. A place for me to store common worksheets that I share with clients, and even to set it up so clients only get access to those things that pertain to their treatment, check. A way for clients to download Superbills to share with their insurance companies, check. A way to share notes with clients on what to do between sessions, check. A place for me to privately share my reflections to help keep me on track, check. A journal option for clients that allows them to record their thoughts between sessions and to decide whether or not to share it with me, check (no one else has this to my knowledge and my clients absolutely adore it). A way to block clients from being able to schedule at certain times, or to only allow certain session lengths or types (phone, video, etc.), check. Everything with Counsol has been perfect. Once the tech team made an upgrade that wasn't my favorite. I contacted Jonathan and within hours, they had made it possible for me to go back to the other way. I can't say enough good things. They have made my life much easier for the past few years. I can't imagine functioning without them. I now have peace of mind!

Recommendations to other buyers: This software makes it easy for me to do my notes. Open up the site on my phone, click on the full site version, and then use an app that transcribes my speech right into my client notes. Huge time saver!

Best value you will find, ease of use and the additional text message reminders are worth it alone!

Pros: Ease of use. Ability to have clients complete paperwork ahead of time, text message reminders, ability to send announcements to all clients, how organized it keeps my files, ease of progress notes

Cons: Inability to have multiple counselors on one account and being supplied only one account manager, could be fantastic but I am slightly intimidated by mine and don't know how to switch

Overall: I have been using CounSol for a few years now and it has made my life so much easier. Online scheduling, the ability to have clients complete their forms prior to their intake appointment speeds things up. Also the ability to track everything; progress notes are easier, forms are easier, filing is easier. This was our first venture away from paper files and I can honestly say I have been more than impressed.
There are a few things I would still like to see first and foremost the ability to have more than one clinician on a single account. I am a small agency whom employs another counselor only part time so all of the entering and tracking on the system still has to be done by me; the account owner. Also, you are assigned a single account manager -where I could see could be very beneficial. However, sometimes I feel the one I have been assigned isn't always the most professional or courteous. I have taken to making my requests on their help page if I absolutely cannot find the answer under FAQ's.
Overall, however; this is a wonderful program and has helped my business keep up in the world of technology. My clients love the text message and email reminders about appointments and for the price you won't find anything better!!

Recommendations to other buyers: We researched several EHR programs when we were planning our switch from paper files and found this one to be the most effective and the most affordable. I am very happy with my service and plan on being a customer for many years to come

Overall: Switching to counsol has made managing my private practice much easier. Customer support has been very responsive and the developers have implemented many of my suggested changes. The other development changes that have been made have all been imprints improvements and made this a very flexible and robust system.

The free initial setup input all of my client intake forms, and then I was able to go into those forms and improve them in order to take advantage of the technology. I have also copied and modified those forms for individual clients, as needed. Modification and customization is very easy and intuitive for me. These features were much better than some of the very expensive systems I encountered during my search.

My clients love the ease-of-use, and that we don't need to spend time on forms or payment during our sessions. They also love receiving appointment reminders (which I send out on their cancelation cutoff day). Some of my clients enjoy using the journaling feature, which allows them to choose whether or not they share an entry with me.

I mainly use the system for scheduling, billing, and collecting client intake documents. The integrated scheduling and billing features have been major accounting time savers for me, and having secure credit card storage in the system means that I don't have to worry about billing clients, and I have a way to confirm appointments with credit cards (especially virtual sessions), as well as charge clients for late cancelation, according to my cancelation policy.

I still take notes on paper, as I prefer not to be typing during my clinical sessions. However, in order to keep client files as required by law yet manage paper in my office, I have been scanning and uploading closed client files to CounSol as attachments, and then shredding the paper.

One downside was that one of the main features I hoped to use when selecting a system was the video chat feature. I have not found that to be reliable. It might be because of my Windows 8 operating system or drivers, but the customer support for that feature was lacking. I have been a user for over 3 years now, so perhaps that has improved along with the other features.

Other than that, the system is perfect for me and a major time, money and space saver. I can't imagine life without it now. Thank you!

Pros: Extensive functionality - scheduling and automatic text message reminders to patients, billing, tracking of payments, ability to accept credit cards, easy to use progress note and biopsychosocial history forms, sending claims to insurance.

Cons: I haven't figured out how to track releases of patient info as required by HIPAA.

Overall: I have been using CounSol.com since I started my practice in 2014. I looked at several other EHRs, and I was impressed by CounSol.com's functionality, as well as the access that I would have to my records when/if I close my practice. Since then, it has only improved. When the ICD10 changeover happened, it automatically changed all the codes, and I only have to type a few words of a diagnosis in for it to pull up a short menu of full diagnosis names and codes for new patients. I can take credit card payments through it, and it added the ability to seamlessly bill insurance companies in a few minutes and then keep track of which claims have been paid. It's easy to schedule appointments, review progress notes, and determine which clients I still need to submit insurance claims on, and it enables me to run my practice without having any staff. My patients also love getting text message reminders for appointments.
Customer service also has been quick to respond to any issues. For example, I recently started billing a very small insurance company that only takes paper claims. Counsol.com's clearinghouse partner is able to print claims, but my account interface wasn't designed to let them know that I needed a paper claim. I contacted the clearinghouse and they told me what I needed my submission to them to say, then I contacted Counsol.com, and within 24 hours, Counsol.com had adjusted the interface to enable requesting a paper claim. It's worked perfectly since then.
All in all, I am extremely happy that I chose this EHR, and I recommend it whenever a colleague is considering making the switch from paper records.

Pros: Booking Online, Invoicing, and that my files are all in one spot

Cons: I think because we are in Canada some of the information does not relate to us across the border. It is also costs more money then other programs I have seen and it would be great if there was a better bundle plan for clinics that have many clinicians.

The feedback from my staff has been that when they need assistance or help it has been difficult to get immediate assistance, or no follow through. They end up figuring it out, but it would be nice if there was a call in number for general questions or assistance perhaps.

Overall: I am in private practice, and did not want the expense of an office manager. When I found Counsol I was more than excited as it was an office manager, and so much more. I love that we do not have to have paper files, and we no longer have the expense of needing extra storage. All of my fellow practitioners use Counsol and love it. Our clients often remind us how they like that they can book online, cancel and reschedule without having to wait for a call back. It has saved our practice a lot of money and time as it caters to our every need. Thank you Counsol for putting such a great program together. I honestly do not know what we would do without it.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is great for psychologists to use, but in my office I have a speech therapist and a Occupational therapist it would be great if it could serve multiple disciplines but I understand it is Psychology based. ***The biggest thing I do not like is if I am working with a family they have to each register, I can link them but in terms of invoicing and marriage counselling sometimes couples get upset that they have todo the process for each individuals. It would be great if they only needed to do it once, and there spouse of child was attached and you could click on their name for insurance purposes. I don't know if that makes sense, but that is one complaint I get a lot from couples and families as sometimes I see three of their children and they find it time time consuming to do each child separate versus being able to put a family or couple together somehow. My colleague only does psychological assessment and it is difficult to invoice for this as well.

Pros: 1. Strong security protocols for both client & providers. 2. Ease in setting up. 3. Visually user-friendly design. 4. Excellent Tech support (something we've NEVER said about any program before). (tech assigned to us) is always friendly, patient & responds quickly, even after initial set-up. There's a 'submit help request form' & a well-organized "Help Manual" icon also available 5. We were able to do most of set-up ourselves, but if we hit a snag & contacted tech support, they'd walk us through it or advise us re better methods. 6. Integrated credit card process went smoothly, as did PCI, scheduling & video set-up (in plan we choose). 7. We receive a lot of leads through our website & were pleasantly surprised to discover an increase in traffic immediately after we began using Counsol (& their integrated partner counselorlisting.com). We saw an increase of 3-4 new clients per week (over our normal averages). 8. We recommended a few ideas (automated birthday notices to clients, etc.). Counsol appears to be responsive to customer's ideas. 9. Very easy to link from our existing website into their server based system for client's to schedule appointments & fill out forms online. It's been a fairly smooth transition for clients visiting our website. 10. During initial transition, Counsol had us upload our forms & they set them up quickly, then walked us through edit process. It helped get us up & running very quickly. We're already recommending Counsol to our peers.

Cons: Forms layout could be refined a bit (greater horizontal layout ability, rather than vertical, would decreases of pages. It's the only concern any of our clients expressed, even though the registration process actually goes quickly. (Some people look at of pages or 'length' of a form, not actual of questions or the click-through ease of those questions).

Overall: Ease of use, safety protocols are strong, support is excellent, user-friendly, easy integration.

Cons: That it isn't yet offered to Group practices.

I would love if the out of office feature for email could be set up on a recurring basis. i.e. I am offsite on Mondays and Fridays and would love to somehow represent that to clients on the calendar feature and in email response. (Maybe this is already possible though...?)

Overall: I learned of Counsol almost 4 years and have had an incredible experience. Most striking is how invested and responsive Jonathan (my assigned representative) has been in helping me address any questions or needs. I am a bit technologically challenged, and yet found Counsol to be very user friendly, particularly because Jonathan was available to answer my questions over the phone and in real time.

The features I most appreciate are the electronic scheduling feature, which has saved me hours each week that I used to spend playing email/phone tag with clients, only for them to respond after the offered time has been accepted by another client. I also appreciate the ease of billing, whether to submit client's out of network insurance claims or to keep payment records for myself. The mail feature puts me at ease given it is HIPAA Compliant, and has also been recommended to me by HIPAA trainers above all others for this reasons.

Also note that I have referred dozens of friends and colleagues to Counsol, all of whom have thanked me for the recommendation given their similar positive experiences.

Thank you to Jonathan and Counsol for allowing me to focus on what matters most, which is client care, and helping me to efficiently and effectively take care of the rest.

Pros: When looking for practice management systems, I researched many different options. I originally landed on Counsel because they offered the video feature within the practice management system, however I stayed with Counsol for the ease in features. I was able to upload my own forms, which made it feel like a more personal fit for my clients. The client portal allows clients to have access to their own account. They can fill out paperwork, access an on-line journal, check appointments, see notes I've left for them from our session and even pay their bill on-line.

The integrated ERA feature has streamlined my billing process. It is incredibly easy to keep up with client billing and send bills electronically. I love that all client information, notes, etc. are filed in one place.

Perhaps one of the best features is the customer service. I have been pleasantly surprised at how responsive my personal customer service person has been. He is thorough, helpful and very quick in response.

Cons: My major struggle is with the video component. It did not work well for me. Most of my clients did not have a large enough bandwidth to allow for the video to work. I finally ended up dropping the video portion of the system, and I'm using another video platform. I signed up for the video feature, however I stayed with Counsol because the rest of the features are so good.

Best of all I tested!

Comments: I tried and tested over 10 different online scheduling, billing, practice management options. Many had good features, but none had the range of flexibility I needed for my unique needs--except for CounSol, that is.

For example, I primarily need it for scheduling and billing, but not for an online medical record (which it does very well though) as I use old school paper charts still. I can opt out of having to make notes with CounSol and can't with others.

Another thing I needed was for my clients to be able to schedule themselves if they want through their own portal. Other programs require you to approve the appointment request though first. In my practice, I want LESS steps, not more. And CounSol let's them schedule their own sessions without my approval, though I think I can require them to if I want. The bottom line point is that they have the most flexibility in how YOU need to customize it for YOUR practice vs conform your practice to its system like so many others I tried. And my clients love not having to play phone, text, or email tag just to get an appointment (as a solo practitioner somedays are busier than others and I can't always get back to people right away). That aspect alone has made my life SO much simpler and has improved the client experience as well.

Also, customer support responds very quickly and I have the same account person assigned to me who knows my account!

So bottom line: as someone who researches the heck out of products and services before settling in them, I can say this is hands down the best online practice management tool I've ever tried and recommend it highly.

Comments: I started using CounSol after transitioning from a large community mental health agency to my own solo practice. As I did not have the resources to hire someone to manage my scheduling etc, I needed a HIPAA compliant practice management program that would really manage my practice. CounSol has been extremely valuable. I have used it since I started my practice and still see no need to hire office management staff. I often receive positive feedback from clients about it.

Here is an example of how efficiently CounSol has worked for me (all taking place without me having any contact with the client during the process): a prospective client sees my profile on Psychology Today and is routed to my CounSol site; they register as a new client; they make an appointment to see me using the online calendar; they receive a text message and email to confirm the appointment; they complete the paperwork for the first appointment online; they arrive at my office and I have already reviewed their paperwork.

Additional features I find very beneficial include online billing; sending and receiving secure email; the option for me to upload documents for clients to read; an online journal clients can share with me; treatment plans; progress notes; etc. I also appreciate the frequent updates / improvements made to the program and its cost-effectiveness.

One feature of CounSol that I initially used but later discontinued is the video session option - there was too much of a time lag with the audio portion of this feature.

In a nutshell, CounSol is an excellent practice management program!

Pros: The support, definitely. Very helpful and available. This program offers portal, credit card linkage, email, online insurance submissions, and tele-health capability, with good presentation of data, easy movement throughout the program, I can correct my numerous errors. All HIPPA compliant and encrypted. I've tried therapy Partners, Therapy Notes, Simple Practice, and like Counsol best. The clinical side is fine, I know how to keep therapy notes no problem no matter the program,, it's the billing/insurance/balances/statements bookkeeping side that makes me crazy and this program makes me much less crazy than others I've tried, or at least, I have access to Johnathan (who is now on medication) who fixes the problem.

Cons: Would it kill them to write a freaking manual? Nothing is particularly complicated to do, but you have to know where to click first and where to click second, and these are state secrets! Known only to Johnathan!Their help section is designed for people who don't need much help. The calendar is small, and doesn't let me set the colors I want to show different kinds of sessions, also I really would like a system to track No shows and cancellations on the calendar.

Overall: After trying out several practice management softwares, I decided on Counsol. I have been using Counsol for over 2 years. The main reasons I chose Counsol were the professional-looking interface, the ease of use, and the flexibility to customize forms. I especially like the ability to have clients read, fill out, and sign forms online. When they come in for their first session I don't have to take up most of the session with paperwork. I like that I'm not tied to pre-existing forms, and I have created many of my own forms for the purpose. Clients also appreciate getting email reminders the day before their session. Having a place to exchange secure messages and upload documents is great. The insurance billing feature allows me to do all my billing with a few clicks. This saves a lot of time and frustration. The information auto-populates from the invoice, which is produced automatically from the calendar. I would prefer to skip the invoice and have information auto-populate from a treatment plan, but that's not a major issue. Jonathan has been very responsive whenever I have a problem or suggestion, and a couple of my suggestions were quickly incorporated into the software. The only feature that leaves room for improvement is reports. It would be great to have a lot more reports, either pre-formatted or customizable, about the practice. Counsol regularly adds features, so I wouldn't be surprised if they also improve this area. Every once in a while I give another look at other software, but I always come back to Counsol. It offers a combination of features, ease of use and customer service not available in other companies, even more expensive ones. Overall a great value.

Pros: I love everything about this software. I am not that computer savvy but this program made it easy for me to transition to my first EHR. What makes it even better is they assign you with a CAM "Counselor Account Manager" who is available to assist you in navigating through the system and with any roadblocks you may encounter. I needed an EHR that I didn't have to do a complete overhaul to get adjusted too. I was working with SquareUp (merchant) and Office Ally (clearinghouse) already and CounSol accepted both of those. The video conferencing feature is great for distance counseling and backup for weather issues. My clients just click on a button and we're in session. I must say my CAM is phenomenal. While working through the tutorials I saw that there was a feature that they were not using. Talked to the agent and he went to research it. Called me back to say "hey talked to my programming team and we are going to add this feature, thanks for pointing this out." So cool! I mean I could go on and on but I'll leave you with this one last piece. They have a online journal through my clients secure portal and to cut down on buying journals or telling clients to get one they now can go into their profile and write daily. I don't have to see it but if they want me to all they have to do is click the "share" button and its easy as that and I can respond to them as well. CounSol I think I've fallen in love! (smile)

Overall: Video Conferencing, Online Journaling, Use of Office Ally as the clearinghouse, Billing component to do ERA's as well; client secure portal, being able to send text, email and voice alerts, feature that allows you to combine clients, able to set up group sessions, having your own personalized Counseling Account Manager and a lot more!

Pros: client portal, ability for video upgrade, shared journal with client

Cons: my clients almost always make a duplicate account and I don't understand why that keeps happening and it's a bit cumbersome. Lately it seems better. not sure if it's the system or my clients.

Overall: I have been using CounSol for almost two years now. I'm not sure why it isn't more popular that it is because it seems to have all the things I need. Because I currently work two jobs I haven't really sat down to keep learning about the software but honestly the more I learn the more I like the program. I plan to sit down with it and use it to it's full advantage soon and I am quite excited and know that it has the features I want. I can upgrade and downgrade the video capability as needed if I have a client in need of video. I also really love the shared journal aspect that I don't think other practice management systems have! Especially because I work with complex trauma, sometimes my clients want to tell me things but it feels safer to write. Therefore they can inform me things early on in treatment so I am aware, but they don't have to tell their story until they are ready. I think my clients who use it feel more attended to and engaged which is important as I am a solo, private pay practitioner. Also, Customer support representative is my support person and he always responds timely to my requests and questions and I have never had an issue or concern.

Recommendations to other buyers: I still need to make my own templates and paperwork and can't offer feedback until I figure out how to do that.

Cons: Aesthetically it is not super sleak/shiny looking. It felt a bit overwhelming when I first logged in (admittedly I did not take utilize the guided tour option), however it is very easy to navigate and figure out. Also for what you can't figure out you have a rep (whoever you are assigned) to help you out!

To keep accounts fully current I have to go in and fill out insurance payments when they come in and then account for the remainder of the amount owed (as insurance pays less than what I charge).

Overall: I have been more than happy with my experience with CounSol! I have referred several colleagues. As I've mentioned, the customer service is so wonderful! Most of the time I have responses within 24 hrs. Usually much quicker if I'm emailing during the day.

Pros: I love how the treatment, billing and scheduling all are seamlessly integrated. I feel confident that any information I need I can easily access at any time, anywhere. I am also very impressed with the responsiveness of the customer service team.

Cons: There are currently two things I wish were different: it would make a huge difference to my clients if iOs devices were supported for the video sessions (I realizethis is not a quick fix...). The other is that there are a few places in the UI where there are identical or very similar labels on tabs at two different levels showing simultaneously, making it easy to confuse things like where you are uploading an attachment (to a session or to the total client file), or making a note. I've figured it out for myself, but it presents a traning challenge with my interns.

Overall: As a solo practitioner, I've used several different online services for managing my practice. CounSol is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Some of the things that set them apart are: seamless integration with my exisiting website; ease of use and access for clients; integration with paper-free office practices; reasonable pricing. And my favorite is the highly-responsive customer service, and their openness to suggestions for new features. CounSol is the perfect compromise for a medium-sized solo private practice.

Comments: I have been using CounSol for 2 years and am very happy with both the functionality and the customer service.
The major selling points for me were the inclusion of client self-scheduling (with a friendly and non-buggy user interface), secure messaging, appointment reminders via email and text at no extra cost, and inclusion of schedule, clinical records, and payment records in one user interface.
Most of my clients really like the client portal and prefer to manage their appointments online versus making a phone call. One reviewer complained that it's a long process to get a client started, but the system provides a lot of options in terms of what the client is required to complete upon login, so I don't know if that is really a credible complaint. However, when a client comes in and needs to complete forms, it would be nice if I could allow the initial access to the portal without requiring them to access email for the login link.
I am happy with Stripe.com for credit card processing and have not had any problems with the interface or integration between Stripe and CounSol. It is very easy to apply payments to invoices and it is nice that they now have an option to cancel an appointment but still leave the invoice active for late cancel and no-show fees.
Setting available hours is not as intuitive as other parts of the system. It is set up to provide a high level of control over what clients are allowed to self-schedule, and once it is set up it works fine.
There is a timezone setting for each client, so if you are doing phone or video sessions, the system will send out reminders with the time listed in the client's timezone which is super helpful for those of us licensed in multiple states.
Creating new forms is very cumbersome, but my service rep Jonathan was very helpful in uploading my forms so I just used the form creator to make small adjustments.
I have a practice with several contract therapists and there is no option for one master admin account, but we are a small enough practice that we have been able to work around that limitation.
The development team does a good job of making sure they have tested things thoroughly before rolling out new functionality and to date I have not seen any bugs introduced with an update (a major feat in the "get it out quick" software world). The team has also been very accommodating in making minor tweaks that help improve usability.

Comments: First the pros: I chose Counsol.com after comparing and trying out similar services. I ultimately chose Counsol because of the fully integrated platform it offered (ability to process payments, online scheduler, secure video/chat platforms, etc.) Considering Counsol.com offers all these implements at HIPAA compliant levels made it a no-brainer for me. My clients repeatedly comment on the ease of use from their end, and are also appreciative of the convenience it affords them in terms of contacting the office (virtually) when it's easiest for them, and knowing those communications are secure. The option of requiring entry of a credit card to access the functionality of online scheduling for clients (most specifically new clients) would reduce "no shows" if that is an issue.

Cons: the system often seems cumbersome on the practice end. It often seems to me there would be much easier (read streamlined) ways to accomplish many tasks. Additionally, while you can utilize attachments to send to your clients, there is no way for your client to return those to you electronically. Example: because my Intake forms are so specific, it makes far more sense for me to send them as an attachment to new clients for completion. As it currently stands, the client must then print them out and return a hard copy--basically defeating the purpose of an electronic medical record. There is an option to build "Forms", but again, that would be so labor intensive and could not actually replicate my current forms--which were crafted with purposeful specificity--that forms are not a feasible option. Even the ability to add forms via upload would be a huge improvement!

This is less of a Con and more of a glitch: if clients want to utilize their HSA or FSA card for payment purposes, they cannot through this system. What I've been able to gather so far is that this is secondary to how Counsol is listed/appears on the back end as a product. Attempted transactions on Counsol.com are declined because Counsol appears as "software" or a software product, and since you can't use an HSA/FSA card to purchase software (or anything other than immediately identifiable health care costs), each transaction is declined. I have another payment method available while inside my office, but again, this largely defeats the purpose and keeps this platform from being fully and independently online operationally.

Overall: First of all, let me tell you I wanted to give Counsel five stars because, for the most part, their solution has been fantastic for us. The text confirmations for clients, overall ease of setting up billing, and linking to Gmail calendar are great.

The reason it is getting four stars is a few items:

1. If you have more than one counselor in your practice and want integrated solutions for all counselors, this is not your best bet. Having to have four separate log-ins and four separate browsers is not very practical. We've been told for 2 years a solution is in the works but nothing so far.

2. The reporting and sorting capabilities (especially for billing) are too limited. Wish we had more abilities to sort by the amount and other ways.

3. No mobile app yet, but there is now a mobile mode for the GUI which is fairly good.

Overall, 4 stars, creeping up on a 4.5 and a definite 5 if they ever improve reporting capabilities and provide an integrated solution.

Comments: I have done 30 day trials of several others before trying Counsol.com and a few after but I found this one to be the easiest and most complete for my needs. I also really like having the video option in the portal instead of having to have separate programs.

Pros: Options for Video sessions, secure chat and emailing. Client portal is nice and allows me to keep handouts in folders and dictate by labels what clients have access. I do different treatment groups and individuals so it is very nice to be able to have handouts and homework in folders that clients can access on the portal. Templates are very easy to create and customer support is great. They uploaded my privacy polices and consent forms so that clients could electronically sign and there is electronic intake all on portal. I like that all is included in one price.

Cons: I found the some of the functions a bit confusing to get used to and I feel like I am still figuring out the billing but I have never used billing software before so that is probably why. Office Ally is the service they use and I know it is popular and so I am sure it is more about me than the software. I wish there was an option to do a note for groups that would go to all the group members files automatically but that may be asking too much.

Pros: I love the easiness and effectiveness of their customer service and the fact that you have a persona assigned to your account. One of the customer rep was great! He responds and gives solutions to my requests very quickly. I love that I can communicate with the clients securely and that my forms were uploaded and the patient just fill them out there before coming to the first session. The reminders for the appointments via text have been very effective too.

Cons: I have not use the features for billing insurance companies so I cannot give you any feedback on that. I will be using the online sessions soon though. I have not tried yet but I like that is HIPAA compliant and I can take private notes right there, while in session.

Overall: It has been easy to use and it has all the features I need. Besides I like I can customize the forms that are already uploaded and/or ask to have my own uploaded. It has helped me to stay organized.

Overall: It took me quite a while to choose a practice management software when I took my practice online and I have never looked back. No only was CounSol.com affordable, easy to use and versatile for a number of differing client needs and types of office situations (telemental health, client journaling feature, credit card payments, automatic session reminders, online billing) but the customer service and responsiveness is unsurpassed. If I couldn't do something with the system they got back to me right away and showed me how. If the system couldn't do it, they often put the programmers on it right away and improved the functionality. I have had not one problem. Highly recommend and my clients love it too. Full disclosure, they do have a referral program that will help reduce the monthly cost further but certainly wouldn't still be with them if they weren't fabulous.

Comments: I picked Counsol instead of other EHR solutions mainly because of its simplicity and capacity for customization. It was also an affordably priced option. Each time I have needed something or had questions the company has been responsive to my needs. Indeed, the software keeps getting better and better. It is flexible and intuitive and offers what I need to make sure my clinical records are in good shape.

To anyone considering whether to switch from paper, do not give it one more moment of thought, just do it! I cannot imagine ever returning to having to keep paper records. For starters, I can be certain that the basic details of my clinical record (e.g. dates of service, charges, basic demographic info) are always in place. Secondly, I cansecurely write a progress note from my home computer without having to illegally take a paper record out of the locked office.

The best feature: text message and email appointment reminders. I get almost zero no-shows these days. Before I started with Counsol I would often encounter either people forgetting their appointments or confusion about the time. All of that has disappeared. Clients can go online to remind themselves of when their next appointment is scheduled, and they start getting reminders for their upcoming appointment a day in advance. I still get some cancellations of course, but the decrease in no-shows alone pays for the service each month.

Another great feature: When I take on a new client I send them a link to my secure website and have them fill out my intake paperwork and sign my disclosure electronically before I ever see them. No paper to take up precious session time, and the clients love it.

Cons: Counsol doesn't have the complexity of some of the other systems and doesn't offer as many checklists. There are times here and there where I can't easily figure out the best approach to a particular type of documentation. I am actually still experimenting with how best to do treatment planning and my intake process. However, that's probably more my indecision than the software, because they have without complaint uploaded any form I have ever given them into an electronic form I can use in the system.

Comments: This online practice management program has greatly helped a scattered person become much more organized with data management processes, as well as providing structure and focus in ways I may not have thought of without its gentle guidance!! I started using the program several years ago, and wish I had known about it from Day One of starting my private practice.

The CounSol.com staff are accessible both to answer "tutorial" kinds of questions and to discuss needs specific to my practice, which can result in tweaks to the program when appropriate and relevant. I feel very supported.

I like how many choices I am able to make about what functions I want enabled in the program and how seamlessly it integrates with my website.

The online scheduling calendar has been a huge help, as well as the appointment reminder texts and emails that automatically go out to clients. That has almost completely eliminated no-shows, without requiring additional time from me or support staff. It also provides a great record of who I have seen and when, enhancing my compliance with record-keeping regulations.

The online video function has also been quite effective and helpful. I like how easily it gives both the client and me access to a more secured online video function. Although I have not yet established myself as an online counselor, my face-to-face clients actually like to use this function when circumstances in their lives make it difficult for them to get into the office.

Several of my clients love the journal function.

The forms offered through the program, as well as the capability for me to build my own forms, have been another positive....and kind of fun too!!

Right now, I am on hiatus from using the billing function of this program. When I last used it, I did wish that I could rearrange the entries after I had made them, for those times when I input claims and payments in the incorrect order. It makes it confusing to review! Overall, though, the billing function of this program has a lot to offer.

My clients have had a lot positive to say about the effects of my using this program.

Easy to use, convenient, makes my work as a counselor a lot easier!!

Pros: Keeping track of my calendar, sending out reminders to clients and providing a way for me to get my paperwork to my clients before our first session.

Cons: I have had some issues with clients receiving their reminder that our appointment time is an hour off of what we had scheduled-this could be related to the time zone that client is set for. I also wish I could change the length of time the sessions are for when scheduling (the default time isn't always the time I use, so it can be cumbersome to go back into their specific appointment time to set a different time than the default setting).

Overall: When I've had issues, the account manager has been ready and willing to help. I've not used all that counsel is capable of, but for my purposes it gets the job done very well. I've recommended it to several cohorts.

Pros: The appointment reminders that go out have greatly decreased the rate of no-shows! My clients report that they love it and that it helps them to remember their appointments. You can electronically submit your claims, view your ERAs and reconcile your invoices with one click! If I ever have questions my account manager, Jonathan, is quick to respond with guidance. Counsol.com truly gives that personal touch. It is also set up so that I can do distance counseling and protect my client's PHI. It has built in DSM-5 note templates as well as a place for internal session notes. It also has the secure messaging feature which is great for communicating with my clients between sessions.

Cons: Nothing that can't be solved by taking time to learn all of the aspects of the software. This software can do SO much!

Overall: Sometimes too many bells and whistles can over complicate an application. CounSol gives me a great balance of functionality and friendliness. Pros: Full-featured. Includes many features you will not find in similarly priced applications. Ability to maintain the credit card processing relationship with our merchant services provider which keeps our fees much lower than companies that only offer Stripe, etc.

Cons: It will only accommodate a single provider.

Overall: We have used CounSol for over 2 years and have been completely satisfied with every aspect. This software has every feature you could wish for at an amazingly low cost. We were able to implement the application very easily. The support staff is always extremely helpful and responds promptly to our needs.

Cons: Not enough features. I HATE the clearing house that I am forced to use with the program.

Overall: The software is easy to use, but as we got accustomed to it, we noticed a lack in features that were needed to pull reporting. We are also unsatisfied with the cleaning house that is used with the software and have had major issues with insurance because of these issues. Due to the lack of options for the clearing houses and lack of features - I would not choose this program again. One of the positive things is customer service - if I had an issue, I was always able to get in touch with my representative who helped as much as they could.

Pros: I really like that there is a video feature built into the software and my clients and I don't have to download anything. The messaging works well and gives my clients confidence about their confidentiality. The scheduling and appointment reminders are a life saver. Also, my clients like when their appointment pops into their texts and they instantly add it to their calendars as they are standing in my office. I haven't use the insurance billing through the site, and I haven't used it to collect payment simply because I was already using QuickBooks. However, I think it's great that those features are included in the software.

Cons: I wish that the site was more mobile device friendly because it would be so nice to use my iphone for the video session rather than my computer. Other than that, I'm really happy with it.

Overall: It makes my life easier and brings my practice into the modern age. I have been able to book more sessions because I can use the video session feature. I'm very happy with it.

Pros: I like that it's hipaa compliant and allows my patients to schedule, change appointments, complete forms, pay, leave messages and journal in an easy accessible way. It allows me to bill from the site and create invoices for out of network people. Customer rep. has been wonderful about talking me through all my questions setting up my portal. It even permits encrypted video sessions. It's a one stop solution for folks like me who can't afford to hire an administrator to handle all this. It also allows me to enter therapy notes efficiently. It's very comprehensive.

Cons: There is a learning curve and it took me a while to get the billing and accounting down. However customer rep. responded quickly and patiently to all my questions. There is also a helpful guide which answers many questions.

Overall: I've been using Counsol.com for over 2 years now. I've been very pleased with how easy it has been for me and my clients to use. It took a little time to figure things out, but the support was excellent! I had a direct email and phone number for a customer service rep assigned to me and he has always gotten back to me within a few hours. This service has saved me a lot of time and money, made my accounting easier, reduced no shows and scheduling mishaps to nearly none. My clients appreciate the reminders, clarity, ease of payment and forms to submit to insurance. I highly recommend this service!

Cons: There are time when I wish it could do more things. For example, on the progress note, I would like to completely customize the assessment, symptom description, and interventions sections.

Overall: I have been using CounSol for a couple years now. It has saved me a tremendous amount of time. Notes are faster, sharing records is faster, clients schedule themselves. I love that I can create my own forms. I love that I can see how many sessions I have in any given period of time and compare performance from year to year. Customer service has been very responsive. They have even created a fix in the software when I needed it to do something that wasn't already in the programming. I have been very happy with the service and plan to continue using it!

Cons: I wish there's an initial session note not only progress notes. Also, I would love to have a termination or end of therapy note with built in features that requires mostly clicking boxes.

Overall: I tried another well-known and regarded software for over a year. But no software can beat CounSol for psychologists and therapists. It's easy to use, intiutive and has many features and built in categories that makes writing a note very easy. I love all its features from the ease of attaching a document, whether it's a self-rating measure, a consent for release of information to ease of scheduling and many other things. My clients love their portal and many feel safe and secure using the portal for messaging.

I have been using CounSol for about 2 years now and I really enjoy this software.

Pros: I love the fact that I can create my own forms for clients and that they can fill out these forms online. This really makes the intake process easy. My clients also enjoy using the "Journaling" option. Online scheduling is super helpful too.

Cons: Being a group practice owner, I don't like the fact that I have to create a separate CounSol account for each of my contractors.

It has made my transition moving from California to Texas easier because of the ability to do HIPAA compliant online counseling with my clients in California, which is why I went to the system in the first place. Recommendations to other buyers: It's worth the effort to transition -- I paid a company to come in and scan all my paper files and then I just attached them to the clients when I set them up. It was a very worthwhile investment.

Pros: I like the client portal that allows secure messaging with clients, and that appointment reminders can be sent automatically to clients. I like the progress note feature because the layout makes writing the note easy, and you can turn on/off certain components.

Cons: The general practice settings apply to all clients, and some of them might not be applicable to certain clients, based on whether they're insurance or private pay. I have to go into the settings and turn off certain settings that aren't applicable to certain clients, and that setting back when it is applicable to other clients. Whatever settings are set, that's how it shows up for all clients.

Overall: Ease of tracking billing. Being a paperless office. Being able to create custom forms.

Pros: calender syncing

Cons: difficulty with session notation in couples sessions. Clients seem to be treated as individuals, even if they are linked. I want the clients who make payments online to be able to appply the payment to an invoice.

Overall: This system is much better than no system. However, it has some shortcomings. It took me a while to figure out how to open a session not that is transferable, printable etc. There are no codes for 90 minute sessions which i provide. I cant figure out how to make notes for a couple session that applies to both parties. The note is saved for one client, not both. My favorite part is that the calender is syncable to my google calender so i can see my schedule on my phone. I also cant figure out how to add attachments to messages sent to clients. Links yes, documents as attachments no. My biggest complaint is this. Clients can make payments through the bluepay gateway, but they cant attach a payment to an invoice. I have to manually go in and show the invoice paid. Other than that, I am very happy with the system overall.

Cons: the U I is not as attractive as it could be. The forms creator is somewhat limited.

Overall: I chose Counsel as my practice management system because of the integrated secure online video feature, but have been very pleased with all of the available features. The video option is very easy to use, both for me and my patients. I appreciate the note-taking, treatment planning, and other templates in addition to the ability to create my own forms. Customer support responds quickly and has always been very helpful. The U.I. is decent but may not be to everyone's liking. The company seems to add or improve features regularly, which is great. Pros: What I love most about this software is how easy it makes billing, taking and keeping notes, and sending insurance claims. Counsol is like having an office assistant but for much less. Thank you Counsol!

Cons: Well, it seems as though each con I have Counsol either has fixed it already or is in the process of fixing it. The only thing I can think of is that it would be really nice to have an application to access information on my phone.

Overall: It's like having an office assistant without the cost. It makes progress notes, treatment plans, billing, and sending insurance claims extremely easy! And I love that Counsol will save all of my information for 7 years so I don't have to keep boxes upon boxes of client files. So helpful! Overall: I have assessed various practice software and I liked Counsol.com the best because appointment reminders were part of the software and I did not have to pay an additional fee. Those reminders have decreased no shows by 50 percent and are a must in any software you buy. I pair this software with a free medical billing website called office ally and both of those together meet my needs for my practice.

Pros: It is fairly easy to use and to add new clients, create appointments, and send reminders to clients.

Cons: Many clients have reported that they have an error message when going to initially sign on and I'm not sure why and I haven't been able to help them, having to contact my rep for help.

Overall: I've been working with my Customer support representative for about a year now and he's so responsive and helpful to my questions and concerns, often within minutes of me emailing or calling him. I couldn't be happier with his attention to detail.

Pros: I've tried at least three other EMR software programs before using CounSol. Each one lacked in one or more areas but CounSol brings all of the features I need to my office. From online calendar and scheduling to secure conferencing and billing, I'm more than satisfied with this program. If I have questions or during the many times I needed assistance with set-up I called my account manager Jonathan and he was eager to assist. I can't see myself using another EMR now that I have CounSol.

Cons: Setup on any program is an issue but one call to my account manager and my worries are alleviated. Other than setup, I had no issues with the program.

Pros: I like that it's intuitive so once you're in the program it's easy to find your way around. I like that client's can go in and schedule or cancel their own appointments. It makes documentation easier and I like that you can build your own check boxes of interventions to customize your typical therapy approach.

Cons: I would like to be able to store credit card information and be able to charge through the system. It would be helpful to have a running list of notes that have not been completed after a session so help track documentation easier.

Pros: I have been using Counsol for over a year now after trying out 2 other EHRs, Therapynotes and Theranest. The features of emailing or texting my clients of their appointments and the insurance billing functions are helpful for running my practice more efficiently. The customer service is top notched and they are quick to respond to any questions that I have. They seem to be also upgrading the software to add or modify features. My clients have told me how much they appreciate completing the paperwork before hand also.

Cons: Interface could be better and to use their insurance billing, I had to also pay a monthly fee to OfficeAlly.

I like the scheduling/calendar, treatment plan, session notes, client portal for communicating with me, client journaling options and ability to scan and upload documents easily. My clients get a text message 24 hours before their appointment.

Cons: Clients who have an android cell phone cannot access the videoconferencing feature on Counsol.

I would like for Counsol to provide a handout that I can give to clients about accessing the videoconferencing feature.

Overall: My overall experience with Counsol.com is great. In the beginning, I had many questions to get started. Jonathan was informative and patient with me during my learning curve.

Pros: Has all the functions that I need for my solo private practice: client records, scheduling, secure email, billing/client accounts, credit card processing and client journaling. I have also found the platform to be very reliable; no glitches or difficulties accessing.

Cons: I wish there was a multi-practitioner option. This was not available when I started using it over a year ago.

Overall: Handles almost all of my practice management needs, is relative easy to learn and use and is affordable.

Pros: I like that clients can fill out forms online and that I can create my own forms. I like that clients can schedule and cancel their appointments online. I like the electronic claims submission and ERA integration. Overall, I feel the interface is clean and easy to use.

Cons: Some of the finer details are burdensome and require extra clicking, however, when I email customer support they usually try to fix this down the road.

Overall: I save time typing notes instead of writing, electronically filing claims and reconciling claims received in the same system, typically with only a few clicks, and money from not paying a set amount for claims submission.

Comments: I have been using counsel.com for the past couple of years and have been very satisfied with the features and even more satisfied with the customer service. For example, I had a client working on filling out a form and accidentally close the page before saving. I expressed a need for an autosave feature on the forms and within an amazingly short period of time, auto-save for the forms was a reality. They seem to really care about the user experience and the more input we are able to offer, the more adjustments that are able to be made to benefit all of the users.
Like any system (I actually access from a PC, MAC, my iPAD, and my iPhone), it has its nuances that you need to get used to. There are a lot of customizable settings that allow for forms to be required or optional and such.
I find it best if I set up the clients and allow the system to send out the welcome email with the temporary username and password. I just add their name, email, and cell number. The client logs in and fills out all of their information on their own.
Clients LOVE the self-scheduling option that is available through the client portal. I also make tremendous use of the client email and the journaling options that allows for the client to journal either privately, or share their journals with me to be able to read between sessions.
Being self-pay, the system billing has been everything I needed with the integration to PayPal and merchant services. I can also customize rates for different services and for different clients as well as adjust the rate when I am doing the scheduling if I don't want to use the default rate that was set.
I have enjoyed this service and the price is very competitive.

Easy to use, good that features are being added, prompt response with answers to queries.

Pros: The software is easy to use once you get familiar with where everything is located. I can't recall receiving any referrals form the Counsol.com website, so I'm not sure of how useful this might be in terms of marketing.

Cons: The program is costly and requires me to purchase licenses for each user. It is limited to one person. Also, it doe snot have the ability to write one group note for multiple clients. I wold love to have strategies and other objectives pre-loaded in a drop down fashion for treatment plans. This could be offered based on primary focus, llike mine is substance abuse.

Comments: I really like Counsol.com and have been using it since 2013. I am a busy private practice clinical psychologist who abhors the administrative side of clinical work. Counsol sends text messages, emails and phone call reminders to clients the day appts are made and the day before which greatly reduces client no shows. It has also reduced my expenses of business card/appt reminders, which was a pleasant surprise. Counsol also allows clients to set their appointments (if you want them to be able to), which I find handy - - you can set it up where clients can schedule hours in advance or only days in advance. The ability to customize the site to allow clients as much or as little access is helpful to me. My colleague wants to set her own schedule and her counsol is personalized to allow her more control. My clients also use a journal feature that allows clients to write journal entries and either share them w/ me or keep them private. This allows me to track their internal processing and see more of their day to day life. The customer service for me has been wonderful. Help was provided when uploading and creating forms to utilizing forms already on counsol. I also like that I can give my biller access to Counsol, and she can track copayments. Areas of growth for this company would be to add diagnosis and copay features on clients' face sheets along with the ability to download and print multiple progress notes at one time. Presently you have to go into their treatment section to get that info. Counsol staff have been open to feedback and make frequent upgrades to their system based on feeback. I am pleased with this EHR service and plan to continue to use them.

I love my HIPAA compliant Counsol.com scheduling software!

Pros: I can communicate with confidentiality with my patients with the confidence that the email is encrypted and secure. I can access my online schedule from anywhere and ensure that clients have completed registration paperwork. There are so many features that there is a learning curve involved, but customer rep is so attentive with customer support and explaining functions as I need it, and so prompt in his responses, that the learning curve isn't an issue. I love counsol.com.

Cons: I can only schedule a year ahead, whereas I need ongoing standing appointments. The system is quite complex, which of course goes with having many features, but the learning curve was considerable.

Overall: I have HIPAA compliant scheduling and email with patients.

Overall: I have been using counsel for 2 years and love it! It is easy to use, HIPAA compliant, clients are able to email me through this system as well as use the journaling option for their own privacy and can share what journals they choose to with me, their Therapist. They are also able to go in and download their invoices for tax purposes at their convenience. I am able to upload forms specific to my practice as well as keep professional records. The customer service is fast, efficient, and professional. I highly recommend CounSol.com

Pros: Ease of use. On my end, I can quickly look up calendar items, client data, and secure messages.
Customer service has always been great!

Cons: Sometimes new clients get confused going the initial intake process.

Overall: I have been using CounSol for close to two years and I continue to be impressed by the responsiveness of their customer service. For example, several weeks ago I asked my rep if there was any way to tentatively schedule a client so that it shows as such on my calendar. Even though the system had another means of inserting a place holder, Jonathan was completely open to the idea, forwarded it to the programmers, and it was implemented within a day or two. Incredible! Above all, I appreciate the fact that this program is completely customizable.

Pros: The software is very user-friendly. I love the online user manual. It is very useful. I love the uploading feature that allows me to upload any attachments I want. I can also customize folders to store attachments. I love not having to manually add any diagnostic codes, as the software has that loaded into the progress note.

Cons: While you can upload and create any form you want, you cannot tweak any existing forms. As a result, I have to create additional forms. Customer service is great about helping create the forms you need.

Pros: I'm not a therapist, but I'm an administrative assistant for one. I like that all data for a therapist can be found in one spot, it's confidential and I can connect with my clients through it.

Cons: The credit card processing software offered is a bit of a pain to set up, but I think that's unrelated to Counsol, anyway.

Overall: Counsol is the option I chose after suffering form other therapist-aid websites. After doing careful research, getting a lot of customer support and questions answered, Counsol was obviously the best option, and for the price. Once I had everything set up, [and the options are endless for detailing to your practice's own unique needs] I never ran into any issues, had zero complaints, and have been smooth sailing ever since. Pros: The integrated client portal, messaging service, and claim submission make this an easy choice. I love the back end changes that I can make to client documentation and portal permissions.

Cons: The only issue I have with CounSol is that they use OfficeAlly which does not have direct connections to all the insurance companies I am paneled with. This is a headache because I have to track payments using other means for several different payers rather than having them all, or most of them, come through one clearinghouse.

Generally I have been pleased with this software. Allows for efficient creation of progress notes.

The reporting features and client registrations and database feature as well. Plus interfaces seamlessly with my marketing website. Overall I'm pleased and would recommend to other professionals.

Cons: Progress notes are not ideal if you work with couples or families. Doesn't allow you to write impressions of all participants, only individual. Also- if a client is having more than one issue related to sleep for example the quick click doesn't allow for choosing more than one identifier.

Pros: Ability for clients to make appointments and the ease of learning the process. I like that it is HIPPA compliant so the client's information is safe and you can take payments.

Cons: I need software that has the ability for two divorced parents to see appointment and each pay separately. I also need to be able to create ONE account, because right now I have Parent 1, Parent 2, and the child as clients and it's confusing. I don't like the client view though, it does seem a bit cheesy.

Comments: I have been with CounSol.com since sometime in 2011 and haven't looked back. The team is both responsive and proactive. I have a dedicated customer service representative that I can reach whenever I have a need and he already knows my history with the company. He will sometimes contact me in advance when they are developing a new resource to ask questions and make sure they get it just right for the counselor's needs. They are not interested in in creating a program and leaving it, but are invested in the whole process of making the best possible product.

I would say the biggest pros are:
- Customer Service
- Billing tools - easy to automatically bill the customer and get invoices paid, and to keep track of partial payments like copays. You can assign payments to specific sessions, which also helps for record-keeping purposes.
- Customization of forms - in addition to intake forms I have created secure forms for billing information and worksheet-style forms that my clients can fill out for homework.
- Mobile design is really easy to use and helps to take notes on the go.

Cons:
- The scheduling tool can take a while to figure out, and I'm spoiled by the drag-and-drop options of Google Calendar, which it can't do yet!
- I wish it was integrated with Square payment tools. I use the PayPal integration as well but I would prefer I could do both!

However, that is something that could change in the future, so check back!

Overall, I'm happy with it and everyone I've recommended it to has seemed satisfied as well.

Pros: It has all the features I want. The EHR is easy to use, I can create my own forms, bill electronically and receive ERAs, and it has a client portal that allows me to communicate with my clients, upload resources, and allows them to pay invoices online.

Cons: It took a bit to set up and understand how to use it but the help section is easy to follow. Customer support has been very helpful and quick to respond.

Comments: I have been using CounSol for about three years. At first I only used it to set up and schedule clients. It is far more than a scheduler. It allows me to select a suitable diagnosis, set up treatment plans, and chart progress. The financial portion of CounSol gives me the ability to keep track of my patient accounts, send receipts and even allows them to pay. I'm learning more and more how to use CounSol.

Pros: Before I integrated this software into my therapy practice, I was very disorganized. Turns out, I still am but CounSol is in the background making sure I don't drop the most important balls. I keep track of client paperwork, scheduling, notes, insurance and billing all in one streamlined place! I have also found that they are constantly updating with new functionality I didn't even know I wanted.

Cons: They fixed the thing I liked least which is that now when I update an invoice or a calendar item I have the option to make batch updates to all other invoices rather than having to do each one.

Overall: I highly recommend CounSol to therapists in private practice!

Exceptional. Excellent. Great customer service when needed and the system is easy to maneuver.

Pros: I like the reminders/prompts that my clients received for their appointments. I like that the site easily converts to mobile when I access it by phone. I also like the ease in which I can modify parts of my office procedures/policies, etc.

Overall: Counsol is an amazing all in one private practice system to build your private practice. Pros: CounSol allows me to run a fully functional online office for my clients, and to offer professional and HIPAA compliant teletherapy. Additionally, I have access to Matt, an account manager, who is available to work with me to create solutions to any challenges I face with the software and who is always available and incredibly helpful. I love it!

Cons: I don't have any cons at this time! I am always interested in ways online platforms can be expanded to provide additional services to clients, but CounSol is always open to working with me to create new ways to incorporate these ideas.

Pros: You are assigned an account manager who is available during business hours to help you with any problems. When I was on Simple Practice, they best you could do was email and then they email you back, eventually, and tell you to watch an online tutorial , which is very time-consuming and does not always answer your questions. It was very frustrating. My account manager, is so helpful and patient and kind with someone who is not very technologically savvy.

Cons: Nothing really. It's not as slick as simple practice, but it works. It is really pretty easy to use. Cust support rep is able to walk me through the many features.

Overall: I can manage my practice by myself. The billing is a snap, once you get it set up with office ally. I am saving so much money by being on my own, instead of with a group. The best thing is having an account manager to help you figure it all out. This saves so much time and preserves your sanity.

I tried several EHR before Counsol.com and found this to be the easiest to use.

Pros: Ease of use. The software is designed specifically for mental health therapists. Clients can complete all their new client forms online before session and from there I can use Counsol.com to keep record of all their notes and communicate with clients.

Cons: I wish there was a little more freedom with the biopsychosocial to customize it. Also, the payment portal is not as convenient as I use another program (IvyPay).

Using Counsol has greatly cut down the amount of time it takes me to manage my practice.

Pros: Easy to use and understand.

Cons: I would like upgrades to include streamlining for practices that do not bill insurance providers. Additionally, providing Client Superbills should be sent directly from CounSol through the client portal, without requiring a download. Downloads of confidential client information onto computers is one more opportunity of unsecured PHI, breaching HIPAA compliance. This step seems unnecessary to provide a Superbill.

Overall: I have used CounSol for three years now and am thoroughly satisfied with their product. Their customer service is top notch! I am thankful to have found such a helpful back office tool, which makes the functionality of my private practice seamless.

Overall: Counsol has been very helpful in getting my practice going. It can do everything I need it to do, from billing, notes, attachments. It is much better than having paper charts, and easy for new / upstart practices to afford. Highly recommended!

Comments: I really can't say enough good things about Counsol. I've been in private practice for about 1.5 years and was so uncertain about so many things around documentation and business management. The team at CounSol was so helpful in getting my account set up and going smoothly. Also, the customer support is truly impeccable and the responsiveness is 5-Star. And I continue to have the same experience with their services since day 1! To say I'm satisfied is an understatement!!!

Comments: Customer support is fast and excellent. I have noticed a few issues when using the software on my cell phone, but other than that it is straightforward. Would be nice if the video conferencing feature was included in the cost at no additional charge.

Pros: I love being able to send text reminders to my clients!

Cons: Sometimes difficult/confusing to navigate.

Overall: I think this is an affordable way to organize my scheduling, document billing and payment and keep my client date base up to date.
