The customer service is excellent. When I reach out for help or answers I receive it within a 24 hour or less period. It is an easy to use platform. Secure HIPPA. Good instructions, professional, respectful and helpful. Pros There are so many things I like about CounSol. It is clear and easy to navigate through. It is very secure. It offers the client a private journal and an email service for the client to keep in touch with their therapist when needed between sessions. Cons There is nothing that I don't like about CounSol. I also value the help documents that I can print out and refer back to. There are a lot of features that help automate the intake process and tracks when things are due - treatment plans etc. The cost is manageable when changing from the non-insurance plan to the insurance processing plan ($10 increase per month). Cons I find it cumbersome to create the client forms, internal forms, printed assessments. It is not as user friendly as dragging/dropping a fillable PDF. My account manager has offered to help with setting up forms, so that has been nice. Not being able to edit/add to the progress note template to include specific information that are requirements for specific insurance companies. There is no ability to send HIPAA compliant faxes to other providers. I came from a big-name CRM for therapists and absolutely hated it. CounSol addressed many of those issues, but fell short in other ways. Still, I like the service I'm receiving and my questions are answered in a professional and friendly fashion. I would recommend this to others. Pros \*I really like the ability to customize my dashboard. When I log in to my account, I see what's needed and I don't see anything else. \*Scheduling sessions is a breeze after you get the hang of it. \*Their connection with Stripe helps with payments. \*The ability to send multiple reminders is nice (although anything over one is extra). \*I've had good customer service experiences and they were always friendly and helpful. Cons \*Not having 2-way calendar integration is a killer. There have been multiple times I have scheduled clients over personal events because I can't have event times blocked off. Massive miss. \*Not having Zoom integration is also brutal. It adds multiple steps for me, which are not desirable. I get it; they want you to use their proprietary video software. I tried it, and 4 out of 5 clients had difficulty. \*Charging for a second and third email reminder is kind of ridiculous, in my opinion. This is a needed service, and it's extra no matter what plan you're on. \*If you add a service, you have to jump through a few hoops to get the scheduler to pick it up and allow you to schedule it. Too many hoops to jump through instead of it being streamlined. \*You have to manually add each service code into each service. This gets old. Allow a master code for the client and anytime it changes we can go in to manually change it. I really liked the ability to custom-create forms and schedule clients with Zoom integration. It was only due to it being quasi complete is the reason for making the shift to CounSol. Their price point was amazing as well! I'd recommend them as a backup if CounSol doesn't work for someone. Switched from [SimplePractice](https://www.capterra.com/p/130710/SimplePractice/) SimplePractice wasn't updating their service, customer service was mediocre, and they don't take ANY suggestions from the community to make updates. They wouldn't even let me schedule sessions in different time zones. It was bad for clients who were in a different time zone and some showed up late, or early, to sessions. But what really was bad is there is an entire community writing on the help desk website for them to make improvements and when I brought up the improvement of allowing us to schedule in the client's time zone the customer service person shared the owner shot that down and said no he wouldn't make that change to the site. Surprisingly, this is not a commonly used feature but we like to offer it for folks who would like more than the single reminder that is included with all memberships. Since we must to pay a fee per outgoing SMS to make text notifications possible, offering multiple text notifications for all members would increase the membership prices for all. Pros I appreciate the user friendly interface and the amazing customer support. Cons I think the list of forms in the client portal could be improved since clients seem to get confused about whether they need to complete the optional forms (such as the Release of Information). It would be nice if there was a way to have interactive forms so a client could answer a few basic questions and that would then trigger which other forms should be required. " September 10, 2025 5.0 I am so glad I picked this EHR many years ago when I started my practice. I often think that I don't know what I would do without it. Price is great for all the features, and they keep adding additional ones. Troubleshooting is easy with a real person for assistance, not a phone tree. Pros I love CounSol.com; I have had it about 15 yrs. Everything is at my fingertips. It is always available ( very important); easy to use; has varied features to fit your office needs. Progress notes have check off boxes that are changeable, and assists in having HIPAA compliance. Clients can log in and complete forms for insurance, personal info, and more. It has option for telehealth sessions. You also have support quickly with your personal case manager. Cons Sometimes my clients find it difficult to log on to video sessions, but this seems to be more to do with their difficulty with technology, so I think the more tech savvy one's client is, the better this goes. I'd like the form creation to be more intuitive to set up. I still haven't set anything up because it's such a hassle. It would be nice if there were standard forms (PHQ9, GAD7) already created. I love having a dedicated support person for questions as they come up. I'm a boomer so I have never figured out how to have clients do their own paperwork through it. Pros I love the "Swiss army knife" approach of being able to do everything in one place. Cons Billing insurance through CounSol is clunky. I have to bill Medicare through a billing service because CounSol just didn't work. Many insurances issue one-use credit cards to pay bills and CounSol will not recognize those as insurance payments. It always performs perfectly, was customizable to perfectly match my needs without compromise. My clients have no problems accessing their portal, sending secure messages, using the secure journaling feature, and making payments. Using Counsol lets me focus on caring for my clients and not wrestling with a software application! Pros My favorite feature of Counsol.com is the attentive, knowledgeable, available and helpful customer service with this product. I'm fortunate enough to have an assigned Support Manager who makes it his priority for me to be productive with this software.
