I've used other EHRs in my career and this is by far the best! Pros I love the easy scheduling, calendar integration, client reminders, electronic forms, organization, and keeps me on tract of accounting and billing. Documentation is so easy and everything about it is pretty user friendly. The customer service is the absolute best! My service rep has always been so available, always within the same day if not the same hour! SO helpful! Cons Creating the electronic intake forms was the most tedious and laborious. But my customer service rep helped me transfer over my existing paper forms into their electronic format. I don't know if i could've done it without his help! Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Best Practice Management Software" February 9, 2017 5.0 After trying out several practice management softwares, I decided on Counsol. I have been using Counsol for over 2 years. The main reasons I chose Counsol were the professional-looking interface, the ease of use, and the flexibility to customize forms. I especially like the ability to have clients read, fill out, and sign forms online. When they come in for their first session I don't have to take up most of the session with paperwork. I like that I'm not tied to pre-existing forms, and I have created many of my own forms for the purpose. Clients also appreciate getting email reminders the day before their session. Having a place to exchange secure messages and upload documents is great. The insurance billing feature allows me to do all my billing with a few clicks. This saves a lot of time and frustration. The information auto-populates from the invoice, which is produced automatically from the calendar. I would prefer to skip the invoice and have information auto-populate from a treatment plan, but that's not a major issue. Jonathan has been very responsive whenever I have a problem or suggestion, and a couple of my suggestions were quickly incorporated into the software. The only feature that leaves room for improvement is reports. It would be great to have a lot more reports, either pre-formatted or customizable, about the practice. Counsol regularly adds features, so I wouldn't be surprised if they also improve this area. Every once in a while I give another look at other software, but I always come back to Counsol. It offers a combination of features, ease of use and customer service not available in other companies, even more expensive ones. Overall a great value. The most outstanding feature of this program is the pricing. You get everything you need for one fair price. No nickel and diming, no “upgrades” for features necessary for my practice. Pros This software is intuitive and extremely easy to use for both myself and my clients. The customer service is phenomenal and responsive. I love that the developers are open to hearing suggestions/wishes and consistently improving their product to meet user requests. Cons My only wish, at this point, would be capacity for virtual groups. I know it is something they are working to develop. It is very easy to learn and find your away around. If I struggle with something my account manager rep is outstanding in service and gets back to me within a few minutes. Pros I love the video component, it has worked well for me most of the time. There have been a few call drops but not very often. Cons Right now I'm trying to get the office ally linked up to bill insurance and its been a pain in the neck. It will be helpful to have the ERAs sent to me so my accounts can be reconciled quicker. October 11, 2018 5.0 Before I started using CounSol I was still using paper charts. I have been able to convert all of my files, billing and invoices to electronic records. Using CounSol I can do video sessions and this plus all electronic records makes it possible to operate from anywhere. One of the repr. is my account manager and he is super great! He never fails to call me or email me back quickly (usually within minutes) and always has the answer! Pros This software has simplified my practice management. I can do notes in less than 3 minutes and billing in just a couple of clicks. I get notices through CounSol when insurance has paid that includes the breakdown of what they paid and/or didn't pay and why and can post it right to the client's account. This software eliminated the need for an billing account manger saving me thousands of dollars and headache. The more I can do for myself the more time I have for my clients. You would think that having someone else do billing for you would save time but it has not proved true for me. In the past I still had to explain and teach a lot plus having to deal with a full or even part time employee takes a lot of time and energy not to mention it adds to problems I would have to deal with. Forms were difficult to implement, and there was zero customization of the client registration form, meaning my clients were being asked to input a ton of info I don't need, a waste of their time and mine. I don't ask my clients to name their religion or pick from a list of marital status options that may not represent them (I specialize in polyamorous clients). CounSol had the best options for customization. I also got a dedicated account manager who helped me get set up and implemented my forms for me so I didn't have to hash it out myself. Clients are having a WAY better sign up experience, and the whole system is just a lot more intuitive. I've never had an issue that was not promptly and easily addressed. Pros It allowed me to customize what I wanted to customize and its forms worked better for me than the system I used previously. Its support was dramatically better as well. Cons I'd prefer to further customize the progress and session notes. Also, it sometimes signs me out but does not make that clear until I've navigated away from the page and realize not all of what I typed was saved. The software itself is easy to use, intuitive, and has great customization options. The options I wanted specifically for my practice were either unavailable or outside of my price range. Pros It is customizable to fit my practices needs at a rate that does not break me as a small business owner. Cons The only criticism I have is that I have not been a fan of the integrated telehealth platform. It has great features like integrating session notes, but I found the video user interface did not run well on my computer and my need for the feature changed due to some changes within my practice. I am confident if I had a continued need for the feature, they would have worked with me to resolve the issue. He always responds very quickly. I also love the discount for referring friends/colleagues. Pros I like the ease of scheduling my clients with this software. It's super quick and easy to do and sends them reminders via email or text. I have almost 0% no shows now that I've been using Counsol for the past 2 years. Cons The notes are sometimes hard to navigate - starting a new progress note is not easy - I have to go into each specific client, then pull up the visit, then start a note that way. It would be great to just be able to click a button from the home screen to start a new progress note and then click a drop down menu for the patient's name and date of visit. Enter CounSol.com to the rescue. Why everyone isn't using this software is beyond me. Not only does CounSol.com provide the bells and whistles that are standard on most therapy software programs, they provide numerous options for customizing a package to your practice's specific needs. The program is so adaptable and user friendly. One of the highlights of CounSol.com is the fact you are assigned your own "case manager", how cool is that from a counseling perspective! I love this software because it ease takes less time for training new employees, does a fantastic job of client interaction, i.e. client portal capabilities, and chart organization. I couldn't design a better program myself. I see this software valuable for any size operation. Pros Counsol.com provides an intuitive experience for any level of user. The graphics, ease, and navigation are extremely user-friendly and effective. I have experience with many software programs, EMRs, and have found counsol to be the most effective and the least expensive. You will not be disappointed with this software program. Cons The only thing I would add is ability to extract more detailed reports, but as counsol continues to provide frequent innovative updates, I'm confident this will improve in the near future. May 13, 2020 5.0 Counsol has allowed me to run my private practice by myself for over 3 years with ease. I can do all of my billing myself with just a few clicks per day. All the functions are so efficient and easy to use. Scheduling, billing, intake paper work online through a client portal, HIPAA compliance mail function, electronic journaling feature for clients, treatment plans, progress notes, etc. The best is the automated session reminders for clients via text, email, and phone call! My no show rate is slim to none! The customization options are pretty neat too! Pros It included all the features I needed and wanted to grow my practice in one low monthly fee. Cons I started from scratch, so I don't know what it's like to transfer into it, but there was a short learning curve at the beginning to learn where everything was. Many of my clients work in the software industry and often compliment me on the use of ConSol. Pros CounSol is all encompassing and provides the HIPAA secure software needed to run my practice. Electronic Health Records, Thorough biopsychosocia intake list, treatment planning, calendar, case notes, billing, and reports. The reports feature alone streamlined supervision hours. The billing feature alone saves hours of work and money because I do not need to hire and outside billing agency. Cons I am not technology savvy so at first there was a learning curve for me. If you can't find the answer, my customer rep is quick in responding to emails and offering help. The programmers are very open to feedback to further enhance the program. Cons As a couples therapist, I use the same chart for the couple vs creating two separate charts or creating an identified patient. I briefly looked at others and had another counseling software and had one counselor try to get me to switch, but no luck. Hands down the functionality, ease of use, and price for everything is more than reasonable and worth every penny. Pros The ease of using Counsol it amazing! I have everything I need at my fingertips and can do all I need to do in order to successfully treat clients. It makes the administrative part of counseling much easier. The integration of third party payment providers was key and allows me to keep my costs down, without using multiple systems. Cons For the longest of time the video portion was incompatible with many of the clients I served. I believe that has improved but I do not use it. The only other part which I would love to see improved is the form function. It would be nice, but doesn't take away from their quality, if some of the "standard" forms were already pre loaded. It is a one-stop shop in that CounSol is a place where i can house client information, do case notes, email securely with my clients, and do my billing directly from the site. My clients can schedule and cancel their own sessions, communicate with me easily, and they have a secure and private place to journal. Cons Whenever I have had an issue with CounSol, I reached out to the support team and received excellent customer service. February 14, 2017 5.0 As a solo practitioner, I've used several different online services for managing my practice. CounSol is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Some of the things that set them apart are: seamless integration with my exisiting website; ease of use and access for clients; integration with paper-free office practices; reasonable pricing. And my favorite is the highly-responsive customer service, and their openness to suggestions for new features. CounSol is the perfect compromise for a medium-sized solo private practice. Pros I love how the treatment, billing and scheduling all are seamlessly integrated. I feel confident that any information I need I can easily access at any time, anywhere. I am also very impressed with the responsiveness of the customer service team. Cons There are currently two things I wish were different: it would make a huge difference to my clients if iOs devices were supported for the video sessions (I realizethis is not a quick fix...). The other is that there are a few places in the UI where there are identical or very similar labels on tabs at two different levels showing simultaneously, making it easy to confuse things like where you are uploading an attachment (to a session or to the total client file), or making a note. Pros It is so valuable due to the ability to send out text reminders to patients about upcoming appointments. I can easily schedule appointments and also review any notes taken. It is quite easy for patients to reschedule or book appointments. Due to this, we noticed that the amount of no shows has been reduced greatly. Customer service is very easy to reach out to and they reply quickly. Cons I would definitely like to see an app made so that it is even easier for clients to make appointments. Anything it didn't cover when I started using it many years age, it does now. The staff is very responsive to the users and is always improving the functionality. Smooth. No glitches. Pros The client reminder texts are very helpful! The dashboard customization also helps to keep tasks in order. Cons As a supervisor, it would be easier to adjust settings for other users who need supervision instead of having to contact the company for assistance. I do not like that I am only allowed to create an account for one client instead of having the option of creating an account for more than one client I am seeing together. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly always helpful. Pros When my clients tell me how easy it is to register and pay for services on line, I know I made the right choice. I like that everything to run my business is contained in one program, with easy access on my computer and tablet. I have years of old, hard copy files from a previous practice and storage is a pain. With CounSol I feel like I've gone Green, my practice is modern and contemporary. I have referred several colleagues. As I've mentioned, the customer service is so wonderful! Most of the time I have responses within 24 hrs. Usually much quicker if I'm emailing during the day. Pros The customer service - you are assigned a person when you sign up and they are yours to help you with whatever you need! Client portal/e-signing of documents (especial release/request of information document!!!) Thorough biopychosocial form Check boxes and autofill on the notes template Credit card on file option Lots of room for customizing - language wise (client vs patient, male/female/transgender/non-binary) as well as feature wise Secure message Ability to submit claims (once linked to OfficeAlly) Cons Aesthetically it is not super sleak/shiny looking. It felt a bit overwhelming when I first logged in (admittedly I did not take utilize the guided tour option), however it is very easy to navigate and figure out. Also for what you can't figure out you have a rep (whoever you are assigned) to help you out! To keep accounts fully current I have to go in and fill out insurance payments when they come in and then account for the remainder of the amount owed (as insurance pays less than what I charge).
