I do hope they keep making those adjustments for the clients that I work with. Pros What I love about Counsol is that everything can be done in one place. Billing, invoices, scheduling, intake paperwork, communication, and note! I love having one place to go for all the things I need related to my practice! Cons Some things that can be better is if they offered for conference sessions, I have no way of working within the platform with families who are not in the same place. This includes military families, kids in college, or travel positions. Also there is no consideration for minors who have the ability to oversea their own medical files. I don't have a way to easily connect parents or share billing information with parents between accounts. The few times I've had issues or needed functionality tweaked, the customer support has been prompt and responsive. I rely on CounSol for scheduling and billing, but also love the ability to keep a "to do" list going and be able to have secure e-mail communications with my clients. Pros Intuitive and easy to use, the software does everything I could ask for to make managing my private practice more efficient. Cons I don't have any negative feedback at all regarding the software. Cons Building my own forms without using the support of my account manager can be time consuming. Adding different features, such as group pricing and scheduling is an issue. November 23, 2021 5.0 My experience with Counsol has been great! Customer support is fast and friendly. Response time is pretty quick. Pros I have been using Counsol for about 2 years. I love the ability to be able to manage my client's profiles, send reminders, mail, password resets as needed. This EHR paid attention to the smallest detail which makes a big difference with the ease of use. I love the journaling feature and the ability to edit my own documents. Cons The video platform was very basic compared to others that I have used. Possibly identify another clearinghouse besides OfficeAlly for billing purposes. I really like the customer service. Cons I wish the billing section was more user friendly-it's getting there. It's not an accounting program I know. Fabulous Service" April 10, 2017 5.0 It took me quite a while to choose a practice management software when I took my practice online and I have never looked back. No only was CounSol.com affordable, easy to use and versatile for a number of differing client needs and types of office situations (telemental health, client journaling feature, credit card payments, automatic session reminders, online billing) but the customer service and responsiveness is unsurpassed. If I couldn't do something with the system they got back to me right away and showed me how. If the system couldn't do it, they often put the programmers on it right away and improved the functionality. I have had not one problem. Highly recommend and my clients love it too. Full disclosure, they do have a referral program that will help reduce the monthly cost further but certainly wouldn't still be with them if they weren't fabulous. Pros Versatility and customer service. Also perfect for a small private practice. Cons They have fixed any barriers I have come across for smooth use. No complaints. Review Source KT Katie T. I'm not sure why it isn't more popular that it is because it seems to have all the things I need. Because I currently work two jobs I haven't really sat down to keep learning about the software but honestly the more I learn the more I like the program. I plan to sit down with it and use it to it's full advantage soon and I am quite excited and know that it has the features I want. I can upgrade and downgrade the video capability as needed if I have a client in need of video. I also really love the shared journal aspect that I don't think other practice management systems have! Especially because I work with complex trauma, sometimes my clients want to tell me things but it feels safer to write. Therefore they can inform me things early on in treatment so I am aware, but they don't have to tell their story until they are ready. I think my clients who use it feel more attended to and engaged which is important as I am a solo, private pay practitioner. Also, Customer support representative is my support person and he always responds timely to my requests and questions and I have never had an issue or concern. Pros client portal, ability for video upgrade, shared journal with client Cons my clients almost always make a duplicate account and I don't understand why that keeps happening and it's a bit cumbersome. There is a little bit of a learning curve for any new program, but CounSol has individual, dedicated customer service experts (in the US), who know the software inside out. I’ve used this software for two years and I have had the same customer service answer man the whole time. He answers promptly and I’ve yet to stump him. That’s made all the difference for me. Pros The software is user friendly and intuitive. It’s easy to set up and certainly streamlines the documenting process for psychotherapists. Cons I work exclusively with couples and this software is not necessarily tailored for that population. It’s more amenable to individual clients. But, that is the case with literally every other practice management software I’ve sampled. So, it’s not a problem with CounSol. CEO Used the software for: ### "Huge Potential, not quite there yet" August 27, 2015 3.0 First the pros: I chose Counsol.com after comparing and trying out similar services. I ultimately chose Counsol because of the fully integrated platform it offered (ability to process payments, online scheduler, secure video/chat platforms, etc.) Considering Counsol.com offers all these implements at HIPAA compliant levels made it a no-brainer for me. My clients repeatedly comment on the ease of use from their end, and are also appreciative of the convenience it affords them in terms of contacting the office (virtually) when it's easiest for them, and knowing those communications are secure. The option of requiring entry of a credit card to access the functionality of online scheduling for clients (most specifically new clients) would reduce "no shows" if that is an issue. Cons: the system often seems cumbersome on the practice end. It often seems to me there would be much easier (read streamlined) ways to accomplish many tasks. Additionally, while you can utilize attachments to send to your clients, there is no way for your client to return those to you electronically. Example: because my Intake forms are so specific, it makes far more sense for me to send them as an attachment to new clients for completion. As it currently stands, the client must then print them out and return a hard copy--basically defeating the purpose of an electronic medical record. There is an option to build "Forms", but again, that would be so labor intensive and could not actually replicate my current forms--which were crafted with purposeful specificity--that forms are not a feasible option. Even the ability to add forms via upload would be a huge improvement! This is less of a Con and more of a glitch: if clients want to utilize their HSA or FSA card for payment purposes, they cannot through this system. What I've been able to gather so far is that this is secondary to how Counsol is listed/appears on the back end as a product. Attempted transactions on Counsol.com are declined because Counsol appears as "software" or a software product, and since you can't use an HSA/FSA card to purchase software (or anything other than immediately identifiable health care costs), each transaction is declined. I have another payment method available while inside my office, but again, this largely defeats the purpose and keeps this platform from being fully and independently online operationally. The hardest part of my counseling agency is the book work and counsel.com has addressed so many of those challenges and lets me do my actual job! Pros All the features are integrated in one location--this program literally does every single thing that I listed as "needed" and "wanted" (including reminder calls, texts and emails!) when I was looking for an EHR. Pros It includes option for clients to schedule appointments online, generates invoices, connects to credit card processors, has templates for therapy notes or you can design your own. It also has a feature where you can upload documents into a client's file. The client's can leave messages securely in the system. The customer service is very responsive. Cons I did not find the video feature stable so I need to have separate software for online sessions. Appointment reminders can be sent by email and/or text, but I wish they were sent encrypted. The inclusion of the video feature has been a life saver during this quarantine and made services available all while meeting HIPPA compliance and not needing to find and pay for an additional tool. Pros I love the ease of use of Counsol. I have used this tool for over 4 years and it continues to evolve and get better. It is not perfect, no product is, but this meets most of my needs. They are often responsive when there are problems and are personable. I highly recommend this tool. Cons The biggest challenge that I face with this tool is the lack of reporting. There are a few reports that are readily available, but sorting and information available is limited. The text confirmations for clients, overall ease of setting up billing, and linking to Gmail calendar are great. The reason it is getting four stars is a few items: 1. If you have more than one counselor in your practice and want integrated solutions for all counselors, this is not your best bet. Having to have four separate log-ins and four separate browsers is not very practical. We've been told for 2 years a solution is in the works but nothing so far. 2. The reporting and sorting capabilities (especially for billing) are too limited. Wish we had more abilities to sort by the amount and other ways. 3. No mobile app yet, but there is now a mobile mode for the GUI which is fairly good. Overall, 4 stars, creeping up on a 4.5 and a definite 5 if they ever improve reporting capabilities and provide an integrated solution. November 9, 2018 5.0 I have been able to eliminate questions that come with any new client beginning therapy. I am able to streamline the process through CounSol, as the client becomes fully aware of practice policies, while telling themselves about me. I can share information with clients without worrying about HIPAA violations. Now I even get birthday reminders - which makes me feel better connected with my clients! I would highly recommend CounSol to any practitioner due to its ease of use, quality, and affordability. Pros I did a lot of research before deciding on an EHR platform. What stands out the most about CounSol is its ease of use for both myself and clients. Whenever I get a new client I direct them right to my special client portal link and we're instantly connected. Right on the main page are all of my appointments and earning for the month - it's a perfect visual to ensure that I don't forget anything. Scheduling is easy, I can share messages with my clients that are more secure than an email, and I have all of my forms easily accessible - making my entire practice paperless! Cons I had the most difficulty with setting up my hours on the calendar, but I was able to easily troubleshoot this with CSR, my CounSol personal account manager. I can also customize folders to store attachments. I love not having to manually add any diagnostic codes, as the software has that loaded into the progress note. Cons While you can upload and create any form you want, you cannot tweak any existing forms. As a result, I have to create additional forms. Since private practice is my retirement plan, the fact that I can be as available as I want or need to be while traveling has been especially important to me. Pros Uncomplicated but it has all the features my clients and I need. I have a support person at Counsol who is available, listens, and provides solutions, whether it is to walk me through a process or add a feature to my site. Cons Frankly I am very satisfied.
