### "Comprehensive therapy practice software"

I am pleased with my choice of CounSol.com. It's my first EHR and I don't imagine switching to another. It seems to do almost everything I want it to do and, since customer service is so responsive, I'm confident that they will be able to implement many of my suggestions over time.

Pros

Covers all aspects of practice management including scheduling, documentation, and billing. It's a HIPAA-compliant interface that includes secure video sessions (for a small additional monthly charge). A secure client portal is included, allowing clients to manage their own sessions, pay their bills, and send secure messages to you. It's possible to upload and/or create your own forms/assessment measures within the software and specify which clients receive them and when. You can share session notes with clients securely. Clients can journal within the system and choose to share it with you. It also includes your own referral page at counselorlisting.com at no additional charge. Session reminders via text, email, and/or recorded telephone message are included at no charge. Insurance billing is built into the software to make it easier to submit claims and increase your revenue. Session notes include check boxes and drop-down menus, which speed documentation time. You are assigned a customer service representative, who I have found to be \*excellent\* in helping me learn the software and troubleshoot difficulties. You can potentially reduce your monthly bill to nothing ($0/month!) by using referral code GMCSCU when you enroll and then referring others to their software.

Cons

If you're new to setting up EHR software, the learning curve can be pretty steep. There are so many things to set up and so much that the software can do that it feels pretty overwhelming initially, to be honest. Documentation is generally pretty comprehensive and my customer service representative have been able to help me through this, though. The interface isn't immediately intuitive and can feel somewhat clunky. Despite excellent functionality, the icon choices are (in my opinion) a bit cheesy in appearance. Initial setup of banking, insurance panels, credit card processing takes some time. Setting up forms for clients to complete is a nice option, but is somewhat laborious. Formatting options are limited. Not currently possible to have forms scored automatically. Very few preconfigured assessment tools included.

### "Great Practice Software & Great Support"

I have used CounSol for about 2 years now. It is well worth the money. Some of the ways I use it: I created custom intakes which all client's fill out in the encrypted portal before the first visit (if I see something concerning, I'm able to contact the client before our first visit, plus I already have an idea about what to expect). Client's also electronically sign HIPPAA, Informed Consent, Policies, etc. I am able to create labels for clients such as "couple" "minor" etc., so that the system automatically assigns certain forms or resources to be available just to those clients. Client's often schedule on line, saving us all time and the reminder emails/texts help my clients to show up and help me look professional. One of the greatest features is that the portal colors, fonts, etc. are easily customized so that the portal matches my website and logo and it doesn't say "CounSol" anywhere. This gives the impression that it's in house and not just a service. Then there is all the billing (customized invoices, super bills, printing 1500 insurance claims), private encrypted messaging, progress notes/psychotherapy notes, interactive calendar, etc., etc., I also can download everything and store pass-word protected files just in the event that something goes very wrong (which won't happen because CounSol has redundancy, but I like the extra security and knowing that I can access records without a connection). Now, I've saved the best for last! If I get stuck, I can call and customer service is usually right there or call back very soon! For me that is the biggest reason I made the switch from another service. If I'm stuck, I need help, just like my clients! I embrace technology, but need a human being to aid me if I don't understand. Give it a shot and I think you won't look back!

Flexible & Easily Customized Great Customer Support Private Labeled (doesn't mention CounSol to clients)

Cons

No real cons. I sometimes find little things I wish were different and if I let them know and it makes sense for everyone, they have actually added the feature. Pretty Cool yeah?

The program works amazingly, and I have referred several colleagues already, but the customer service is outstanding as well. I am certain you can find programs that do comparable things, but you will not find another program that has customer service like Counsol.com. I could not have done this on my own with the new learner curves I had just going out on my own in new practice without the help of Jonathan, my support person with Counsol.com. So, between the ease of the program, all the time this program saves me to actually enjoy my free time again as sole provider and owner of my practice and the absolute outstanding customer service, I highly recommend this program to anyone in field!

Pros

For someone who runs their own practice by themselves, this has made my job so much easier!!! It's like having a secretary without having one and has given me my free time back to actually enjoy my days off. The clients being able to schedule themselves and connecting my ERA's and Square one accounts is amazing. In just a few short clicks of the mouse, all my payments are registered, it's fantastic. As well as the clients being able to access the portal and enter all their own information makes setting up new clients so much easier!

Cons

Nothing, except I wish I would have started with this program versus having to transfer all my clients two years into my practice.

### "Why don't more people use this?"

Each time I've had a question about where something was located or how to do something, they've gotten back to me within 24 hours, and usually they get back that very day. (Thank you Jonathon in Florida!!)

Pros

I'm dumbfounded why folks aren't using this more often. People mention simple practice and some others and I don't know why. This is the best! What I like the most is the ease of use, and absolutely everything is here. It is especially easy to schedule myself, schedule in flex time if something comes up and I'm not available, and change my Calendar settings. I can choose which times I want to do video only or offer in person. I usually use the video software, use it for initial paperwork, scheduling, and some of my clients love the journal option. I also love that I can write a note while I'm in session. It is such a time saver.I don't even use all the features but love the idea that when I grow, they are accessible to me.

Cons

I'd say one time out of 20 the video is a little glitchy, but not bad. On those times sometimes I've quickly gone to Doxy me but it's really not an issue. I wish there was an actual app. Some of my clients are young adults, and accessing the website through their phone can be a little clunky for them.

I have loved counsol and have no intentions of switching, others have lots of complaints about other software systems, but i never have the same complaints about counsol. Great product!

Pros

I love the ease of use, and when i do have a question customer service is just a click away. I can message through the portal and he will respond usually within an hour or two. Everything i need to keep track of is at my finger tips and so well organized

Cons

I wish the insurance claim was not third party, templates might be nice but i can upload anything i want into the system so i have more flexibility.

Overall, I love Counsol and have been using them for over 3 years now. I recommend it to all of my friends in the mental health field. It is so easy to use and the price is amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!

Pros

I love how easy it is to customize, understand and train staff to learn and understand how to use the features. The price point is fantastic for the quality and amount of features.

Cons

I wish that some of the information that I can see was not accessible to the clinicians that work for my company. EX: The rate of service when booking a client or for them to input the CPT codes, just little things like that. I also wish there was an automated To Do List. EX: As soon as I have held a scheduled session with a client, the system would remind me to complete the progress note, billing, treatment plan etc.

I am extremely pleased and happy with CounSol. I recommend it to every colleague who mentions needing an EMR.

Pros

CounSol allows everything to be seamlessly intertwined, from the creation of a new account to billing at the end of a session. My clients are able to access their accounts easily, allowing them to securely message me, schedule and reschedule their own appointments, and complete necessary paperwork. This has reduced the amount of time I spend on office work significantly, so I can spend more time with my clients. Any and all of my questions are answered efficiently and respectfully by my designated account manager with CounSol. Additionally, the account manager setup my CounSol site to match my personal website.

Cons

The only aspects I struggle with are wanting to be able to create invoices for clients, allowing clients to pay their invoices with less of a surcharge, and having the diagnosis codes carry from case note to the invoice page. (At the same time, I'm positive I could ask my account manager for guidance. I just have not taken the time to do so yet.)

### "Great product for bililng but not so great for clinicians"

It has its pluses but the minuses tend to outweigh its good points. I am still on the fence as to whether this was a good move. Only time will tell.

Pros

Its ability to protect client data but allowing us to invoice, send claims, use telehealth, communicate electronically, and chat. Great for getting documents signed and completed. Great for creating new clients as the system is user friendly (outside of very small font).

Cons

It is made for one type of bill... outpatient therapy sessions (90832,90835, 90837). Things like, crisis, client contact, groups, case management, peer support specialists, and prescribers, are no billable due to the documents that are tied to invoices/ claims. It also allows you to bill without regard as to whether the appointment actually happened or not. No need for notes or documents, just make an appointment and send in the bill. The calendar is very clunky and hard to use. The font is extremely small with no way to make it bigger. There is no ability to do groups/ couples treatment unless everyone is piled up under the same webcam (so much for 6 feet). It is very difficult to make appointments. There is no way to edit an appointment after it has been made either... it has to be canceled. There is an overlord of your account who has to help you do most everything.

Cons

The billing/accounting. It is a little clunky in uploading ERA's from insurance and the patient accounts have to be regularly checked to insure they are loading properly.

Would still be with them if we didn't need E-prescribe. We brought in a nurse practitioner and needed to be able to document this information. I love them and would recommend any new start up company to try their services!

Pros

User friendly interface; client portal easy to use; video capabilities; email and text reminders are standard not extra; staff and biller use is standard; contract is month-to-month and so many other good features! They provide more than one merchant servicer. We used Square and we had no problems. The success coach is amazing always available to assist.

Cons

Billing piece can be a little tricky but not too much that they won't help you with it. You will learn a lot about billing using their system.

Fantastic customer service and a well-developed EHR system. They have been so easy to work with and helpful every time I had a question. I feel like they genuinely care about their customer base.

Pros

CounSol is amazing. It's easy to use and understand. I have a personal account manager assigned to handle all inquiries I might have and he is quick with his responses. I love the CounSol calendar and the intake forms I was able to easily build. Set up didn't take me long at all and my account manager was there to help me every step of the way, which is not true of my previous EHR provider. I appreciate the appointment reminders feature being included. They also offer tiered pricing that is competitive. They have options for every practice size which is super helpful!

Cons

I thought the appearance of it was outdated looking at first, but honestly it works better than my previous EHR. I like it so much better. While the "look" might throw some people off like it did me, I am so glad I gave it a chance. I have no complaints about this software.

My customer service rep is amazing at getting back to me with appropriate help when I need it. I never feel like I'm bothering him for help like I did when using another platform.

Pros

I appreciate the counselor specific customizations that this program has over the 2 others I have used in the past. I chose this as my final program for the flexibility that fits my use patterns and the ease of contacting customer support when I need help. I have had no issues in almost a year with learning and implementing processes. Great platform that functions like I need it to.

Cons

Only area that I would like to see a change is in the lack of flexibility with the program allowing multiple billing codes: 90834 plus add on 90785. It requires more time to bill like this and I do frequently due to having a focus on trauma work/children play therapy.

I love this program and the price of it. I have worked for other companies who use large and complicated EHR and have spent thousands. The technical support for Counsol and the ease of use makes me feel validated in going into private practice.

Pros

The ease of use is most attractive to me about this software. I was introduced to it in a previous job and after using several EHR software's, this is by far my favorite. I can focus on giving excellent service to my clients and not be stressing about charting. The price is very reasonable. I had excellent support from the support staff who answered all of my questions and took their time with me.

I seriously can't think of anything. I am still discovering more aspects of the program, but everything has been helpful

### "Multiple parents for multiple children equal too many accounts that have to be made"

I like the client can add an appointment time- this is why I initially bought this.

Cons

As stated in the other page, I have to go to two parent accounts to make appointments, making me "double book" so each can see the appointment or for each to divide the billing. This is time consuming and confusing as to who owes what. It would be great to have a CHILD'S name as Client, then ADD one or two parents, each with the ability to write an intake and each with the ability to add a credit card securely (without the other seeing it).

### "Amazing Customer Service"

We are able to collect more outstanding balances and add finance charges, or other fees without having to schedule an appointment for the charge. This has been a game changer!

Pros

After reviewing and trialing various EHRs, I chose CounSol because of its ease of use and the ability to invoice easily. I never expected the customer service to be so helpful. I was assuming that it would be much like the other EHRs where it takes forever and multiple steps to actually talk to a live person. This is not the case. My account manager, Jonathan, has been great to work with. He responds to my questions very quickly. He inputted my forms from my other EHR which saved me a ton of time! While I am still in the beginning stages of use and transferring my client information, I can't wait to explore it more.

Cons

It has been a bit cumbersome to transfer client information over to CounSol, however, I think you will find that in any EHR due to HIPAA. When I asked about this, my account manager gave me solid information and reasons they are limited in being able to assist with this, and gave me options to ease the transition.

I'm more efficient in my communication due to secure emailing capabilities. I don't wrestle with scheduling questions/needs because the software is intuitive and allows people to address these things independently. I feel more connected to clients through their ability to compose and share journal entries between sessions. I have zero worries about being HIPAA compliant for video sessions. Further, I can easily access all the information I need from anywhere.

Pros

I can't rave enough about all the ways in which this software has streamlined the work I do, allowing me to focus my energy where it's needed most - treating my clients! I never have to return calls for scheduling issues because Counsol handles all of that. Likewise, I never have to worry about getting consents signed and assessments completed because clients can easily access it from the platform.

Cons

It took me a bit of time to learn how to set up my designated hours and change such, but the customer service has been sensational - prompt, thorough, and will take suggestions for improvement.

I have been really happy with CounSol. I have felt supported and encouraged when I have reached out with questions. I think that it is a very good value.

Pros

I am not a tech savvy person, but I find this software to be much more intuitive than what I had been using previously.

Cons

I do think there could be more guidance and specific education regarding taking on billing for the first time, the role of CounSol and that of Office Ally. I am a complete beginner and felt lost at first. That said, I have been figuring it out and my account manager has been SO responsive. This is the main reason I chose CounSol, because their reputation for customer service. I knew I had a big learning curve.

Customer service is superb. CounSol assigns you to an account manager, so you have the same person to train and help you with trouble shooting. I don’t have to wait days to get my urgent issue or question answered. My account manger gets back to me right away. The system was very easy to learn. I didn't have to rely on videos or attend group webinar trainings. Creating forms on Counsol was simple because all I needed to do was send the forms to my account manager. Of course I had to spend time making adjustments to the forms, but I didn't have to go through training to learn how to create and upload them. If you use outcome measures or questionnaires like the PHQ9 or GAD7 that require simple scoring, Counsol added a feature that adds scores, which minimizes calculation errors and saves time. My patients use the self scheduling feature of the Calendar easily. Because I send claims daily to insurance companies, Counsol’s system in creating, sending, and reconciling claims is easy. Denied claims are rare because mistakes are caught quickly and are easy to correct and resend; all of which making getting paid faster.

Cons

I sometimes make mistakes when I make changes to existing appointments in the Calendar. (I cancel the wrong session, schedule the wrong time, or forget to change the appointment to the correct office) I haven't need to use the video sessions.

I spent a lot of time researching various software programs to meet the needs of the new counseling center I was opening. I wanted an all-in-one system that would allow for customization with forms, EHR, online counseling, and billing. One of the features I like about this particular program is the client journal. I have several clients who really like that feature. I had set up a practice client and learned about the ins and outs of the program and decided it was the one for me even though it was a little more expensive than some of the others. I have not regretted this decision, as it has come through well for me.

Cons

There has been great improvement of the online platform over these months of COVID-19, but I feel that there may need to be even more improvement. I sometimes still have to use backup platforms due to issues with the online platform at random times. One thing I would also like is to be able to do groups online using this platform.

Increased ability to track income (daily, weekly, monthly, custom dates). Increased ability to allow new clients to register easily with all paperwork completed ahead of scheduling an appointment.

Pros

We have used it since 1/2018 and continue to enjoy its ease of use, ability for clients to schedule 24/7, and our ability to track income. We've made recommendations and CounSol team reviewed and implemented several, which we appreciated (such as Happy Birthday notices to clients). Clients submit complete intakes online prior to the session, secure pmt billing info (that we or our staff don't keep or have access to but 3rd party encrypted site manages). That translates into more actual counseling time with clients and payment for sessions at the beginning of each day (& notification if payment didn't go thru so client is contacted for updated info, that is verified, prior to their session. The video and phone counseling links are excellent, as is the ability for clients to schedule weeks in advance. Multiple methods of reminders send 24, 36 or 48 hrs prior to sessions (text, email and automated voice) which clients can select as to notifications they prefer. Great support team who respond immediately or within hours. This program has improved the operations of our practice greatly!

Cons

The only negative we'd have is that setting up the forms (intakes) doesn't allow choice of font size, so the intakes are more pages than we'd like, due to font and layout spacing that we are unable to change. Other than that...we're very happy with the program and have recommended it to other mental health professionals we know.

### "Great experience!!"

It has been a great experience so far. My assistant can access to just the features needed for appointments and billing and they find it easy to navigate. My clients like that they can communicate through the messaging in the portal or through the journal with the safety of a HIPAA compliant platform. And the few times I have called requesting assistance, I have had a prompt response.

Pros

I love Counsol because is a friendly software, it helps me to keep organized and to manage my schedule easily. Features I love: reminders to the patients, my patients can have their own, private journal and they can choose if they want to share the entries with me or not. Recently, they added an option to create a birthday message I can send to my clients. Fees are clear and I have always had a great support, especially when creating or uploading my own forms.

Cons

I have not attempted to use online sessions for the last year, but before it used to be a little complicated for the clients to connect. From my side was fine and I love I could take notes. (I cannot describe my experience with insurance billing feature because I am not in any insurance panel)

### "Truly a Star-Studded Product"

CounSol.com is a one-stop shop. I don't need a calendar system integrating with a telehealth platform or to have to create and send forms to clients for signatures. It is so easy to use and is like 2nd nature. As a solo-practitioner, this really encapsulates everything that I need. Customer Services is stellar. They are quick to respond, via phone or email, and very helpful.

Pros

I have used CounSol for years and did some pretty extensive research before deciding to land here. I have not regretted that decision. The platform is so easy to use. Set-up and personalization were not at all difficult and if/when I did (or do) run into a snag, customer services was easy to reach (and still are to this day!). The integration of clients, billing, scheduling, client portal, forms (easy to start with what's programmed and also to personalize to my business. The HIPAA compliant telehealth software has been pretty flawless throughout Covid and I look forward to using it in the future as well. I also strongly appreciate that Customer Service is approachable and responsive to suggestion for enhancements.

Cons

I truly cannot think of a thing that I dislike.
