Pros: The fact that it is WEB BASED and there are excellent staff members at ParishSOFT who truly care about the customers and feel more like "partners in arms".

Cons: Too many bugs and serious issues with software releases. Not enough testing goes into the software before it's pushed out the door. Also clear communication regarding when updates are applied to a diocese.

Overall: We have been customers since 2005 and still believe that this product was the right way to go. The development of additional features and functionality has been slower this past year than we as customers would like to see. There have been more "bug fixes" than added features. There are many opportunities for the company to grow and mature and we believe that they are committed to taking the steps to make that growth happen. As a customer, I wish that more resources were committed to making that growth happen at a faster rate. We continue to patiently wait....some wait more patiently than others ;-). We understand the challenges of finding well-committed developers and look forward to seeing the development cycle make significant speed and accuracy improvements as it seriously needs to. Customer Communication needs some serious improvement and should be more transparent without jeopardizing corporate intellectual property.

Recommendations to other buyers: We have been requesting for many years now, the ability to make feature requests and to see how many others have made the same feature requests. Being able to see a Matrix of how many other customers are requesting the same thing and where that request is sitting in terms of popularity. Also need a formalized online forum group where customers can ask for situational advice and create a community.

Connect Now is absolutely awful!

Pros: The online version is awful. Stick to the desktop version.

Cons: Online version literally takes 12-16 seconds per mouse click, which makes it virtually impossible to get anything done.

Overall: I have used the desktop version for over 10 years. It wasn't perfect but it worked. We were forced to get the online Connect Now version and it is terrible:

1) The Religious Ed. section takes an average of 12-16 seconds to load a mouse click. A MOUSE CLICK! That means that entering a single piece of information in one persons record can take up to 4 minutes.

2) When you are actually able to open a class, record, or individual beside it taking 12-16 seconds to open, the user functions are not friendly at all. If I open a class and chose a student in the class do my thing and then close out it takes me to the main screen instead of back to that class. That's not helpful at all since I'm in need of going back to that class record for the next student.

3) We were blatantly lied to by the sales rep and the VP of Sales as well. We have a large parish (16,000 +) and the sales person said we would be fine with such a large number. After 2 months of speed issues (Still not resolved) and being told it was our servers that were slow the VP told us, "We cannot process the amount of data that your parish has. Our sales team should have told you this." When we asked the VP why he hand said this to us when we started dealing with him the VP had no answer.

4) It is abundantly clear that ParishSofts Connect Now servers are not the adequate size to process the type of data parishes have. We had our IT team look at our serves and after numerous test it was conclusive that the issue is on Parish Softs end.

Conclusion:

If you have more than 200 people in your parish do not use the Connect Now program. Our parish has been incapable of processing registrations, sacramental records, attendance, etc because of how ridiculously slow the Connect Now program is. There are various parishes who have complained about the same issue to Parish Soft and nothing has been done.

Recommendations to other buyers: Dont buy it!

Very easy to use and fast when you have the RIGHT equipment!

Pros: Extremely easy, cloud based, user friendly. Easy to manage a parish of 25,000 and using Rel Ed is super easy! Take advantage of using all the modules - not just one! It does alot if you take the time an learn it. Not in agreement with other reviews posted here when 90% of program issues are between the seat and the keyboard.

Cons: Features promised not yet implemented such as child safety and cori tracking as well as the ability to 'notify now'.

Overall: Super easy to organize every aspect of a parish from tracking parishioners, entering offertory, managing religious education and scheduling volunteers.

Pros: This software has the ability to add and maintain lots of different accounts without being too complicated.

Cons: Slow response to emailed support questions. I am always able to get the answer with their online help (which is not always easy to find) before I get a response from an emailed question.

Overall: We are able to manage all of our accounting needs with this software. Some reports are a bit complicated to produce but overall we get the information that we need. They do offer training webinars that are very helpful. The online resources cover a lot of information as well.

Overall: We were forced to use this software by our Diocese and it has been nothing but a problem for our staff. We currently run two programs, one for our daily work and parish soft to keep the Diocese happy. The update to connect now has not made it easier or less cumbersome to use. Old style technology and obviously they don't check with local parishes to see what we need to make our lives easier. Customer service is terrible. Email a problem and wait for days for someone to get back to you. I am convinced if they don't have an answer they just push your problem to the side. Look somewhere else.

Pros: I love that it's a great database for parishoners and their info, sacrament records, etc. I love the ability to run a number of different reports too.

Cons: It runs incredibly slow, even right after an update.

Overall: It's just fine. You can run a ton of different reports based on a any number of things, which is helpful. I can see the registered parishoners who will soon age into/out of our programs and reach out to families who are/aren't participating in things.

Pros: Ease of use.

Cons: The payroll module could use some upgrading.

Overall: We began our relationship with ParishSoft several years ago when they merged with Logos, our current software company at the time. Since then we have migrated our diocese over to ParishSoft products. I have to say the best thing for us is to be working with a company that knows the church and listens to its customers. I really feel like ParishSoft is our partner and a part of our diocese rather than just a software company.

Recommendations to other buyers: Give it a try. It is absolutely worth it! It is so much better working with a company that designed its software specifically, with us (church) in mind. I can't imagine ever going back to another company where you are just a one time sale and that's it.

Pros: I love that everything is online and accessible from anywhere.

Cons: Sometimes there are glitches or it runs a little slower than I work.

Overall: I have been working with ParishSoft for six years. Starting with Accounting and now with Family Suite. We have converted all products over to the ConnectNow online product. The staff with ParishSoft is fantastic. I am always helped in a timely and friendly manner.

Pros: Parishsoft is vary easy to use and very helpful if you have trouble.

Cons: sometimes we wish we could create our own list, but they do have several to pick from and it does work out .

Overall: we keep track of parishioners and their tithing with vary little trouble.

Pros: user friendly

Cons: difficult to get changes made, we work around this issue (ACA reporting requirements as an example)

Overall: We use ParishSoft for all accounting for all diocesan parishes, works well to have all using the same chart of accounts and software. WE are able to assist parishes with their accounting questions.

Recommendations to other buyers: no

My parish uses ParishSOFT and I have the information on our Religious Education families in it.

Pros: I do like how easy it is to change and edit information. It is nice to be able to have the parishioners and the families I work with online in an easily searchable way.

Cons: I find it very slow. Also, I have difficulty doing things that I want to do - such as send a group email. It seems like that should be possible, and it really must be - but the other staff and I have spent a lot of time struggling with it (a few times) only to give up and do things a different way.

Overall: All of our parish data can be found in one place.

Pros: The precursor to this product in desktop format was simple and efficient. If the company revisits its history it might be able to build a useful product in web-based format.

Cons: This company is operating hopelessly out of its depth in attempting to offer a web-based product to thousands of users. The basic platform is primitive and not customizable even for the simplest of interfaces. As other users have stated, there is a maddening 10-15 second delay from entry to response in every data field or request. The lag increases on Mondays presumably due to the higher volume of entries. The company recently shifted to Microsoft Azure, but it hasn't improve the response time at all. The customer service team is friendly and professional but incapable of solving the basic issues. I would definitely consider other options.

Comments: The Archdiocese of Boston has selected Connect Now (the web based program from ParishSoft) as the database management system for all parishes within the Archdiocese. As one of those parishes, we have been very disappointed with this product. First and foremost, it is extremely slow! Tech support at ParishSoft and within the Archdiocese continually try to make this a customer issue (you need more bandwidth, cleaner systems, etc) but that is not the case, I suspect that their servers were simply not adequately prepared to manage the load of all the parishes required to transition to their product. Secondly, there are so many design limitations and just plain bugs, that we are continually frustrated by lack of functionality (pick a module, any module). I understand that the folks at ParishSoft are working to address many of these issues, but there should be much more rigorous testing of modules before they are released. What was not made clear but what seems obvious now is that all parishes making the transition to Connect Now in the Archdiocese are beta customers paying full price - who does that?! It appears that there is no solid corporate structure in place for Testing and Quality Assurance - at least not one that is evident. This is made rather plain by how calls to customer support are handled. I also learned recently that when a customer calls in to request a new feature or to inquire about the lack of one, that the feature will be implemented with the next release but that sometimes, and here's the odd thing, that feature will result in a limitation for another customer. Is there no overall corporate review process for addressing design limitations and adding new features? Seems a bit piecemeal to me.

We are reminded at trainings about how feature rich the product is but if the features most needed are not working properly, the rest doesn't matter. If you have a choice, explore other options carefully before becoming so invested resource-wise that you can't back out.

Pros: The ONLY thing positive about this program is that I can access it remotely.

Cons: Where do I begin? Slow reaction time, lack of useful pre-formatted reports in religious education, no way to locate children by grade-level in the member section, the need to export to Excel and then re-format to create reports, dates to not automatically format mm/dd/yyyy (you have to add the / each time), same for phone numbers, lack of accurate answers from customer service, lack of responsiveness to upgrade requests.... Most recently I was told that all their development efforts were going to solving 'speed' issues - this should be a given before a program is released.

Overall: NONE!

Overall great experience with the software.

Pros: What I like most is how easy and simple it is to use. I also like the reports I am able to generate.

Cons: The look of it is more old school instead of modern but that does not take away from its effectiveness.

Connect Now is slow, clunky, tedious, (did I mention slow!!) and the least user friendly system.

Cons: Slow - 15-20 seconds between mouse clicks

Clunky - You can not do more than 1 thing at a time (each entry or change takes 30 seconds), each action requires that you make at least 3 mouse clicks (1-2 minutes of your life gone)

Once you have your information in their, the ability to manipulate it, use it, reshuffle it is impossible. Running reports requires another module.

Overall: Is wasted time or aggravation a benefit?

Pros: It was able to gather data from Church members, Students, and employees and compile them in the manner our client needed at their church.

Its good in its specialty of managing the needs of the rectory and the users who were non-technical picked up on it quickly.

DB management is also simple for when things go sideways.

Cons: Not much on the graphics, and it seems out dated.

If you're not in the god business then you won't ever need this software.

Comments: 1. When we moved my database from an older parish soft database, I lost all kinds of information, all the notes for each family, and parishsoft changed the Do Not Send Mail settings on a large number of families without me realizing it so that the next mailing I did I had a $200 postage bill from all the returned mail that came back to me. It took me a week to fix all of it.

2. The wait time for customer service help is completly unaccepable. I am writing this review as I wait for someone to get to me... I have been waiting 25 minutes so far. Once you can get through to a human, the service reps are professional and helpful. You just need to set aside a good hour to get that help. I have started online tickets that disappear into internet space as well so that is not a reliable option.

3. When we switched to the newer database I was told I would have the same modules and report running capabilities as I had for the same price. I do not. I cannot run any reports as I used to do. I will have to spend more money to buy the module I need to run these reports. These reports are basic - percentage of givers in a dollar range, top givers etc).

If you can find a different option please do. I have been working with this software for 3 years and I can't say enough - find something else.

Comments: Canadian users of the Offering Module should be aware that producing Canadian Donation Receipts is complicated and poorly documented. Also it currently produces a receipt for each donating family, rather than each donating member. ParishSOFT is now aware that Donation Receipts must be made out to the true donor (who may not be the head of the family) and is planning to correct this, but until this correction is made Canadians should use caution when generating tax receipts.

Pros: The app is so easy and simple to use and can generate timely reports wherever required form whatever location, but only with access

Cons: The application looks so dull and therefore outdated because it has not invested much in the use of graphics

Comments: We went into this believing that their customer support and ease of use by church members would be reliable. We were sold a bill of goods that are not good. Their ConnectNow system, a series of modules for ministry schedule, online giving, membership census, etc., is cumbersome, not obvious, and filled with bugs. Apparently they rolled it out without testing it thoroughly. We have had to hold hands with too many parishioners to get through it. We are now searching for another system.
