### "Good Software for Mathematics"

July 29, 2023

5.0

I frequently use this programme. I use it primarily because it has a lot of built-in features that make the work much simpler. Once you understand its syntax, MatLab is a fantastic programme. But instead of crashing everything, they should get an undefined error when they click on a zero-dividing area.

Pros

With the aid of this tool, I can complete all of my engineering, mathematical, post-processing, and analytical tasks. Engineers can benefit greatly from using it. With MATLAB, any task can be completed with ease. a good selection of tools, packages, and libraries. extremely flexible engineering and mathematical tool. too much latitude in how engineering tasks are carried out. It makes solving all of your maths problems much simpler.

Cons

It lacks a legitimate dark mode. Despite being a frequently used tool, it lacks a dark theme. If you're not an educator, it's expensive for individuals. With new updates released each year, processing demands rise and the weight of the tool on your computer increases.

### "Great software pairs well withSimulink"

April 18, 2022

5.0

Pros

We use Matlab-Simulink in a neuroscience research setting. It’s a great, condensed and simplified language and application that was clearly designed to allow individual users to create their own automated processes. We take in a lot of data from proprietary collection methods - and Matlab works wonders on binding together different modalities of collection, analysis, and automation. There are hundreds of toolboxes that came with our subscription and forums/resources dedicated to their use. From executive level implementation of research paradigms to everyday data crunching done by our undergraduate volunteers there are so many resources, how to’s, tool boxes, etc. that it is really easy to get everyone on the same page and really visualize our data pipeline.

Cons

Only that many people have never used Matlab before!

### "MATLAB is an efficient analysis and simulation tool."

September 15, 2023

5.0

All things considered, I'd say it's a fantastic tool for data analysis and visualization and is adaptable enough to handle work for various industries, including aerospace, electronics, automotive, communications, and industrial automation industries.

Pros

Data analysis, visualization, modelling, and reporting are all made easier with MATLAB. Even if I don't use it daily, it is an essential tool that I require for data analysis.

Cons

The cost of using MATLAB is one of its drawbacks especially for Small to Medium sized businesses. But based on the advantages it provides, I believe the cost is justified. Furthermore, it has a steep learning curve, especially if you don't have any technical or data analytic experience.

### "Best Simulation Tools for Engineer"

December 3, 2021

5.0

I love to use MatLab. While doing my graduation MatLab is the one that helps me lots. Without the use of MatLab, I am unable to imaging my graduation.

Pros

I found all the features that need to do my electrical simulation project on Matlab. MatLab simulation is the first step toward any real project for me.

Cons

MatLab size is high and takes more time to open and run on Low-End devices. But it is ok because MatLab has multiple functions according to users' needs which definitely increases the size of the program.

### "Excellent for data analysis and visualization"

April 3, 2020

5.0

I am working with Geographical data in netcdf format that needs to be analyzed for statistical and visualization purposes and Matlab is a great tool to work with for such analysis

Pros

I have extensively used Matlab in combination with Fortran 77 in the past to analyze geographical data in netcdf format. Fortran was mainly used to pre process the data but the actual analysis, statistical analysis and visual representation through the generation of figures were done with Matlab. The Mapping Toolbox add-on in matlab was particularly helpful in this regard. More recently, I have started to use Panoply instead of Fortran to preprocess the data but Matlab remains my first choice as far as the actual analysis of the data is concerned

Cons

Sometimes, for a really large data file, Matlab had failed in the past and under such circumstances, i had to go to Fortran 77 as it very robust but I have not had that problem recently possibly because of the increased computing ability of the modern day computers

### "NO MORE FEAR ON COMPLEX CALCULATIONS."

July 30, 2019

4.0

I highly suggest matlab not only for engineers but also to the people who work in research field. This is a fundamental software that everyone must get use to it. Its easily understandable and deployable. Matlab doesn't requires much technical knowledge to utilize.

Pros

Matlab is a product that I started using from my college life. As an engineer I personally say that matlab has becom a part of my day to day life. Its an amazing tool to solve variety of complex calculations and mathematical operations. It also helped me in my research work by its various plots made me understand the differences in variables. It has a very good user friendly interface. Even though the 2019 versions requires a high quality system once you deploy the software it will run very smoothly.

Cons

Personally I love to work with matlab. The only problem I faced is it sometimes glitches when I process videos.

Reason for choosing MATLAB

This is the best software which is recommended by my teachers since then I am using this software very oftenly.

### "My own experience using Matlab"

March 4, 2019

5.0

My general experience with Matlab is good, since it is a very good programming language for developers who have not programmed much, and also, for Engineering, it is the best. The part that I do not like, is the real use in the working life that Matlab has. They should encourage or try to make companies use more Matlab to get their results.

Pros

Thanks to Matlab I have been able to develop my projects over 5 years in the university. In my studies, all the programming was done in Matlab. With Matlab I have been able to develop complex codes very easily, since this Software is really easy to use, and its language is very similar to that used in Python, for example. It is a kind of language that is very easy to understand. In addition to this, Matlab allows you to make "plots" to graphically see the value of our variables or graphs. In my particular case, it was really necessary and very good, to be able to get a 2D or 3D graphic representation on the screen where to see, for example, an electrical signal. For the treatment of signals and images, from my point of view, Matlab is the best software to use.

Cons

The worst thing about Matlab, without a doubt, is the lack of projects or work in the workplace. This means that, in comparison with other programming languages or other technologies, in Spain, Matlab is very little used, to say nothing. This is a pity, since the tool is good, but there are no job opportunities to develop with Matlab, which causes less use of the tool for lack of customers who use it. On the other hand, the license is extremely expensive for the free features that you can get in other programs. From my point of view, they should be able to give the option of a free, limited version. This will greatly encourage its use in the community and in future ones.

### "An academic standard with diverse uses"

January 21, 2021

5.0

Using MATLAB as well as continuing to learn it and apply it to solve problems across different industries seems worth it. It is a capable tool for solving different problems across industries such as metallurgical process engineering, bioprocess engineering, geophysical data analysis, systems engineering, medical data analysis, and the list goes on.

Pros

I have used MATLAB for over five years now. I was first introduced to it in my engineering undergraduate studies. I then went on to use it for my postgraduate studies. MATLAB has built-in functions that can be used for different applications across different fields. Using these functions can save quite a bit of time and reduce the number of errors you get when running code. The forum by MathWorks has a lot of MATLAB users and it's very helpful! Users can ask questions and be answered, there is also an option for file exchange. I have used a number of the exchanged files to get me started on my work or to help me better understand how to accomplish what I want to do. I haven’t had to ask questions, not because I haven’t gotten stuck but because the forum is so interactive and I always find help in the answered questions asked by other users.

Cons

MATLAB is heavy and can slow down when solving a problem and it can also slow down your computer. A lot of computations are done by MATLAB code and if you do not have an appreciation of this and learn MATLAB as a language, especially when coming from an engineering background, you will get stuck quite often and struggle. It's not easy to pick up and get started, there is a learning curve, specifically with the coding. The software its self is relatively clear as to what goes where and how to use it.

### "Is it good?"

February 10, 2022

5.0

As a mechanical engineer, I typically use MATLAB to solve complex mathematical equations. To get the most out of PID controllers, I use Simulink. In addition, I use it to create applications that solve engineering equations, such as determining the optimal diameter of a shaft by providing some parameters.

Pros

The fact that I can use mat lab to solve any equation in any order is what I like best about it. It also has good documentation, which includes a list of all the commands you used. Aside from the ability to create one, it has a wide range of libraries. Aside from the excellent help support provided by Matlab, there are places that teach how to use it. I like how you can use Matlab to create a complete application with a user interface.

Cons

Matlab's high price is one of my pet peeves. Furthermore, in order to fully utilize the capabilities of this application, you must first learn the coding language.

### "A must know tool for Engineers"

August 10, 2022

4.0

I have been using MATLAB for more than 6 years. I have used it for my bachelor's semester projects and master's research. My experience with MATLAB has been really amazing. The features improve every day. New models such as LTE and Autonomous Driving models have been incorporated. This clearly shows that the research conducted by MATLAB team is up to the mark.

Pros

I have been using it for more than 6 years now. MATLAB is an excellent tool for the simulation of wireless and digital communication systems. MATLAB has a very wide community that can provide help for any problem that one may face. The built-in models for different types of communication systems e.g., channel models, data generators, signal analyzers, and graphical representation of results are all the best features of MATLAB.

Cons

Writing code in MATLAB can be slightly difficult for beginners. Graphical user interface of Simulink can be improved a bit. MATLAB takes lots of storage space once installed. Moreover, while running, MATLAB consumes most of the resources of the system.

### "Sophisticated tool for computing and data analysis"

August 4, 2023

5.0

MATLAB is specially designed for complex calculations and data analysis. Despite its powerful analysis capabilities, it offers a simplified graphical representation of data, which is important for financial data reports and presentations. Overall, I'd say it is a great tool to analyze and visualize data and versatile enough to perform tasks relating to other industries such as engineering.

Pros

I like MATLAB because of its features and toolboxes to cater to our data analysis needs, regardless of the data size or type. Since we create presentations after data analysis, the data visualization features come in handy, making it easy for the management and clients to understand complex data. You can present a set of data using elaborate graphs and charts. It is quite common, which means it is easy to get technical support when necessary even from online platforms.

Cons

It has a steep learning curve! Despite the availability of tutorials, I still find it hard to use advanced features, especially those we don't use daily. Beginners certainly need thorough training to benefit from MATLAB because its features and functions can be overwhelming.

### "For me it is a best software for numerical computation, data visualization and Machine Learning"

December 12, 2022

5.0

Overall it is a best software for numerical computation, data visualization and Machine Learning for computing industry and research center.

Pros

This Software is most useful for Computation industry. I like this software most because it has some beautiful features like fast data visualization and prediction. I also like for Image Processing. Apart from these it is also good for Data Preprocessing for Machine Learning.

Cons

Some time it works very slow in the system while working with data. Many time I have observed that it takes much time to start on low performance computer and also on high performance computer that makes me irritating to use. Other than these it doesn't give quick response for some of scripts. automatically semicolon system should be also included which will decrease time waste of giving semicolon end of each line.

### "It has been really helpful for in my experience as student for the past 10 years"

April 9, 2018

5.0

I have made a lot of assignments with Matlab. Also it served as a validation tool for capstone project and for master's thesis. Currently, I use Matlab daily for my PhD classes.

Pros

It is really easy to use. One of the thing that I really like is the fast computation of large matrix operations. The comparison between quantities is very fast, allowing the fast processing of many algorithms. Regarding the script editor, the written code is really easy to debug at any time. It is easy to code since the program itself marks a lot things that the user must change to correct the syntax and to enhance the processing. The user defined functions works as fast as the built-in functions. The price of toolboxes are affordable for students when it is first time is bought.

Cons

Sometimes, it is not easy to visualize matrices and numbers in general in the command windows. A compact manner to show these quantities might be a improvement of the software.

### "A good tool for measurement, analysis and design"

September 7, 2021

5.0

Pros

I am a researcher in an optics lab and use this software for collecting experimental data, data analysis and presenting the data in journal/conference articles. 1)The same software can be used for connecting to lab equipment and also post process the data. The plotting tools are very good and the feature of interacting with/editing the plot and/or data is very useful. 2)The coding language is very easy to learn with all the necessary information available with the software "help". I don't need to google any syntax. There are also many code blocks written by MATLAB users community that can be downloaded to add to your code base. 3)Most simulation software in photonics and test equipment software in our lab now use MATLAB interface to seamlessly tie the design and test cycle. 4)Simulink is perhaps the greatest asset of this software and makes it very useful for system level modeling.

Cons

1)It is expensive. However, you pay for the apps you need, so there is some savings. 2)It is intensive on your computing system. It demands a good computer with large RAM.

### "Powerful tool for econometric analysis of panel data!"

March 19, 2021

5.0

Matlab software is a powerful and essential tool for econometric analysis. Long used by mathematicians and physicists for simulation calculations, spherical graphs on a plane with more than two dimensions, etc., we currently use it for cross-sectional, time series and especially panel data analysis. Thanks to its functionality of being easily exploitable through scripting, we are able to estimate non-linear economic models (Panel Smoth Threshold Regression: PSTR, Generalized Method of Moments : GMM) and linear models (Least Square Model : LSM, Fixed Effects Model : FEM, Random Effects Model : REM, etc.).

Pros

Matlab is a totally free software to write any type of scripts concerning any type of data estimation models and therefore allows to estimate non-linear econometric models such as PSTR, GMM and linear ones (Fixed Effects Model or the Random Effects Model, OLS, etc.). It also allows you to produce the most optimal and well-designed graphs that few other statistical software can do. On the other hand, it has a better quality-price ratio.

Cons

As disadvantages, the software is too heavy because it occupies a lot of space during its installation (takes about 15,3Gb on the C disk) and can therefore lead to a slowdown of the functionalities of computers with low characteristics (RAM less than 2Gb, processor less than 2.00). It also appears relatively expensive compared to statistical analysis software of lower quality.

### "MATLAB - Simulate Your Engineering Thoughts"

August 31, 2019

5.0

I have used MATLAB for almost 4 years and my overall experience with MATLAB is very good, I recommend MATLAB to any student or colleague without a doubt to fulfil their requirements in Engineering Designs/Simulations.

Pros

One of the best things I love about MATLAB is the very advanced command Window to interact with MATLAB interpreter directly. MATLAB commands are very easy to remember, also you can find unfamiliar commands or available commands very easily by just typing commands like ‘help’, ‘look for’ directly in the command window. Also the MATLAB editor is very easy to use and helps you to save your long MATLAB scripts to use them in future. When it comes to modelling and simulations, Simulink is a very powerful tool which will help you to simulate or model anything you require in an engineering design, there are lot of toolboxes included in Simulink to help you with that. Next thing I love about MATLAB is the built-in apps to do lot of stuff like machine learning, signal processing etc.

Cons

Following are the minor cons I find in MATLAB software. 1. Beginners may need some guide to get started with advanced features in MATLAB. 2. Needs high-end computers to get most out of the MATLAB capabilities. 3. Pricing of toolboxes are little bit expensive for home or personal users.

### "Matlab is a great tool but improvements can be made to increase efficiency "

April 11, 2022

4.0

Matlab is great for engineering students trying to learn how to code but it is really expensive.

Pros

I like how easy is to debug using Matlab compared with other coding environments. Also it is really intuitive and easy to display data.

Cons

What I don't like in Matlab is that sometimes it is not very efficient with large data or integrating in time. Also, more integration with the new apple silicon chip would be helpful.
