May 26, 2017 5.0 Very easy to pick up and use with help screens that do just that. So much better than Quick Books (desk top) and half the price for more functionality. It's win, win, win!! Pros The way Brightpay handles auto enrollment and statutory leave/pay. And that it creates a csv file to export payments to Nat West Bankline. Cons Allows only one user. Director Accounting Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Dishonest and misleading practice on the free trial" November 16, 2016 3.0 The software was okay, nothing to write home about. There is very confusing information about the way the software works. This is not a cloud solution, but they refer to the "cloud" a few times in the promotion. The software needs to be installed on a local device. If you do try the trial software. Be warned, it will take your data and then lock it and not give you access once the trial is over. BrightPay ticked all the boxes - we use the free version because we're only 2 employees. When we downloaded it, I participated in the online training course (also free), as I'm not a trained HR or payroll person. We've now been using the software for over 6 months and have never had any issues. I've never even had to contact customer support - it's been so good. October 26, 2016 5.0 I set up my first business, and chose BrightPay to run my payroll. Even with hardly knowing a thing about PAYE, I was able to set it up and run the payrolls easily., and support was there when I needed it. Even though I'm using the free tier, I will definitely continue to use it when my business grows. Pros Free tier for start-ups. Updated regularly with improvements and for legislation updates. October 25, 2016 5.0 I still struggle to believe that I can use brightpay and it is free!! After years of using other methods of running my staff payroll I stumbled across brightpay. Every thing you could possibly want and at absolutely no cost. Pros Easy to use and set up. No need for expensive pre printed pay slips. Accurate and professional. October 25, 2016 5.0 Having struggled with HMRC's Basic PAYE tools for several years, BrightPay was a revelation. Quick and easy to set up and even quicker and easier to run my monthly payroll, including submitting RTI information. The template for payslips is smart. Overall, no problems encountered with BrightPay and a lot of time and frustration saved. We will soon be having to provide pensions and the package covers this as well and reports all RTI data to HMRC automatically. This is now my second year using it and it takes me minutes to complete my payroll. Pros Executes payroll in a simple and effective way. Produces payslips and summaries. Cons It took me a while to see how to change the small business relief allowance and update that to HMRC when I became unable to claim for it. Pros Though it is very different visually to the HMRC BASIC PAYE software it was relatively self explanatory and easy to use. This software is almost idiot-proof. I use it! If the business was to grow I would definitely buy it as I find it easy to use, quick allows you to do everything in one go. I have never had cause to use the customer support, but as all the other information they provide is clear and simple use I am certain that would be of an excellent standard. Transfer of data across was straightforward and payroll is now done in a matter of minutes, no longer having to manually produce payslips and RTI reporting done automatically. The software guided me through and ensured I was able to make the Council compliant with HMRC and do automatic uploads. Pros Easy to understand and use. Unfortunately we cannot get to work so well with Nest pensions. Amounts payable vary with Nests some months and we have never been able to upload to Nest via BrightPay. Pros Good for just payroll. It makes Pay Roll child's play every month. The customer service was superb and the representative talked me through the initial set-up process step by step. Brightpay is very easy to set up and use and does all the linking to HMRC etc so you don't need to worry about it. Easy to produce documentation as well. The initial start up was easy. Processing each month is simple and quick and the RTI submissions are brilliant, you can see what exactly has happened. The year end was seamless, stress free. So much better than HMRC's software, and it makes payroll a breeze. Saves loads of time. Cons It's only free to use if you have up to 3 employees (including leavers during the year). No backups unless you pay for Brightpay Connect.
