The signing up of the LOE is excellent, the proposal sending is good

Pros

It is very easy to use and intuitive. The cost is more than reasonable and the support is excellent.

Cons

Sometimes the functionality is a bit too rigid for differing clients mainly on the LOE

Pros

Super easy to use and a very professional looking package. RTI and pension requirements not a problem as all completely automated, Bright Pay does all the hard stuff for you. I still seriously cant believe the annual cost - which is certain other packages monthly license charge!!!

Cons

The only thing i would like is in 'Additions' for mileage element i would like to put a set unit amount (21ppm) and then on the payslip state how many miles the individual has traveled.

I am 80 years & still running the office for the boys, I hate computers ! but I found it much more user friendly than the Government programme. However, I have registered with NEST, the one employee, who is eligable. When I click into Enrollment Summary, a message appears saying 'No employees have been enrolled in this scheme'. No contributions have been made. When I click on NEST Schedule, 'Enter manually', I don't know how to. Also, NEST Reference. Do they mean NEST ID. I have that. I don't know when I need to start paying. 2 dates have come up, 1st December. 2016, and 31st December, 2016. I know the amounts, do I need to set up D.Debits from the Business account, for their share ? Also the employees personal bank account, that will make it easier if he changes employment, or will it be deducted from his salary each month. I hope you can help, I find it quite a headache. Works great when it isn't ripping you off as detailed below unable as it is to recognise that one individual may work for others and have one PC.

Cons

I have my own small business (free licence) and work for a company and do their payroll (standard licence). Now I can't access my own software as it treats me as a payroll bureau despite different details entirely (email etc) just working on the same lap top.

I now have more time to get one with my work thanks to Brightpay.

Pros

At last a payroll system that doesn't require a lot of extended time, just gets on with what is required. Having changed from Sage/ Tas to this I can say it is like escaping from a maze of confusion into the bright sunshine! I changed initially as we are a small company and needed to sort out pension provision that could be easily done via our payroll. Sage/Tas were unhelpful and it looked to be very expensive. Thank goodness I found Brightpay. Pensions has still been a bit of a challenge, but with the assistance of Brightpay we are there now!

Cons

No major issues, and there was an update that fixed an alignment issue if weekly pension pay didn't match with one that had been set up. All good.

Pros

I have never been so impressed before by a POS system, especially the thought put into employee care as well as making it easier for employers to organize their workforce’s savings, pensions, benefits etc. Very HR friendly.

Cons

My only issue was that I am a US business and I believe this is meant more for UK businesses. It was very compatible with windows and not so much for macs.

Pros

Easy to use, powerful and constantly improving, significantly cheaper than Sage. We previously used Sage 50 Payroll and find this software to be significantly easier to use with no real training required to get everything working. All the main features we need are included and they have released newer features such as cloud employee self service in the last year which further improve things. Good support and overall highly recommended.

Cons

It would be nice to see the software fully in the cloud, but, that is really a wish for the future than a real complaint.

Pros

Ease of use, layout and inclusion possibilities of payslips. We operate minibuses and private hire vehicles where the employee hours vary from week to week. Brightpay's ability to accrue holiday pay based on hours worked and to show this on the payslips is very useful saving independent spreadsheets.

Cons

Really impressed with the fact that payslips can be translated into so many languages some of which I've never heard of. And yet translation into Welsh not available - Please show some respect and recognize the continued existence and use of one of the oldest languages in Europe. Consider also the existence of the Gaelic and Cornish languages. Offer these translations and market the availability. The Welsh language also has official status in Wales. This means that public organisations should give information and provide services in Welsh, as well as in English. The ability to provide Welsh payslips would be advantageous to companies seeking to show support or actively running their companies in and with Welsh as the main language.

Pros

It is very easy and quick to use. I am a very small employer. Up to now only 2 employees. It is easier to use than my last payroll but as far as I am aware provides everything I need. I find it easier to understand than my previous one and my version is absolutely free. What more could you want.

Cons

I have only been using brightpay for 6 months and have not found anything I don't like about it.

Pros

Simple to use, the level of Customer Service is fantastic and very cost effective for small businesses such as Spenart. Also I believe that our first Year End will be much less stressful due to the ease of this system and level of free help available.

Cons

Just the snapshots - I would prefer to back-up to a remote memory stick, but that is a suggestion rather than complaint.

I would have given you 10 stars for your customer service helpline. Any time I am stuck, I have help straight away from your helpline staff. Can I especially commend Customer support representative for her kind assistance.

Cons

As a small educational charity with 11 part-time staff, this is a considered expense every year. I hope we can continue to afford the software.

BrightPay software is very straight forward and easy to use - not complicated like Sage Payroll. Most importantly for us the software is free and saving us over £500 a year.

Cons

After using Sage for the last 20 years it took some time getting used to. Soon found out that the program has everything you need and none of the complicated unnecessary things like Sage

It is very intuitive and easy to use, it makes the process very straight forward. I was impressed at how easily it communicates with HMRC and the pension provider.

Cons

Only recommendation I would make is to have a payment voucher to send each month with any attachment of earnings, showing the reference number, amount paid and balance outstanding.

Being a new company and user of payroll , Brightpay made it so easy to get up and running. It does have so faults but I have to say that it was user faults not the system but with the help of the support team they managed to sort me out. Would recommend to anybody wanting a first class all round package

I have a small company and previously used some free online services (suitable for less than 10 employees). I was alerted to Brightpay through a colleague and tried it out. It's worked effectively for me ever since. For someone less familiar with payroll and the processes, it guides you easily through the system. It also allows you to plan next month's payroll and expenses, enabling snapshots to go back and forth, so your data is always protected. It communicates with HMRC to upload the FPS and EPS, and also gets the revised tax codes for employees. I note it also does the new Stakeholder pensions but I've not had to start doing that yet. The general look and feel (the GUI) is attractive, simply laid out and not over complex in the tabs available and information presented. I've only had to contact support once, and they answered (by phone) and the issue was resolved in 5 minutes. I think I have only scratched the surface of what Brightpay could do for larger companies with hourly paid and monthly paid employees. Absolutely recommended. And free for very small companies of 3 employees.

Pros

Ease of use, accuracy, ability to upload and download from HMRC, simple layout if preferred.

Cons

None so far - its free for small companies

A client recently took on an employee and my firm needed to sort out PAYE and auto enrol for the client company. My firm acts as managing agent for the RMC client company which owns a block of 20 flats. It's less work for us and less cost for the client to use Brightpay and deal with PAYE and auto enrol in house rather than use a bureau. I looked at lots of software and Brightpay seemed the simplest. I haven't had to look at the instructions to set up and run - its intuitive. No problems so far - four months in. The client has recognised several other contractors are really employees so we will be switching to the paid version of Brightpay pretty soon.

It would be good if PAYE DD payments could be authorised from within the software

I decided to try Brightpay after getting fed up with the silly price increases for Sage Payroll every year. I was paying approx £700-£800 a year (including the pension module) for a product which was badly presented, looked tired and with long waits for the helpline. I am really impressed with Brightpay. It is so much easier to use, compared to Sage Payroll, and significantly cheaper.

### "Well Designed Modern PAYE Software"

We are a small software development consultancy business and found BrightPay while looking for PAYE software. As we are not fans of having highly sensitive personal information stored on other people's computers, we wanted something that wasn't Web or cloud based. The software looks modern, is straight forward to use and supports a number of options for exporting pay slips and generating P60s. Better yet, if your company only has 3 employees or less, the program is completely free! And even when you exceed that limit, the price is very reasonable.

Pros

Free for up to 3 employee companies / reasonably priced for over 3 employees. Not cloud based - you have control over your files. Modern looking. Straight forward to use.

Cons

I guess the only improvement I could suggest would be to have more detailed in-application documentation about some of the data you need to enter when setting up your company for PAYE. For example, when asking you for a reference code/number, it would be useful to give the expected format and suggest which documents from HMRC might have that reference on it.
