Senior Partner Construction Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Brightpay Review" January 27, 2017 5.0 My accountant recommended me to BrightPay I have 2 Employees and was being hounded by my previous payroll provider to buy additional addons that I neither wanted nor needed. Plus an expensive annual fee. I did the Pension webinar with BrightPay which enabled me to action pensions for my employees without any costly Third party involvement. My previous payroll provider wanted high amount for their version of the same thing. Since using BrightPay I have not had to use the free support it really is very simple to use. My accountant has helped with advice on a couple of minor issues at the beginning but that aside I would and have recommended this payroll package to anyone. After a year struggling using HMRC PAYE Tools this was a complete relief. Really quick and intuitive even for the novice at payroll. Easy reports. Very easy to send RTI reports to HMRC. Customer support very good via email. Cons Obvious help or a help button while using Brightpay is missing. However there are hints, and I have found a good help section on the website. Easy to file RTI monthly returns. Ability to process reports, payslips etc in .pdf form for emailing a great saver in time, stationery and postage. Cons Not found any yet, in 4 years. I have found the Company to be very approachable. As a small employer (less than 3 employees) the fact the software is free to use is also a great financial saving. It has also guided me through Auto enrollment and pension set-up without too many problems (mainly of my own making). Cons I haven't found anything I don't like about the product or the vendor. Finance Director Retail Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Great payroll software and not just for payroll bureaux" February 22, 2017 5.0 As a motor dealership with around 80 staff, in multiple departments - sales, service, parts, forecourt, admin and accounts, our payroll is fairly complicated. We were previously using a bureau but wanted to bring our payroll back in-house. We were able to import our employees and payroll data and the whole process has been much more straightforward than expected. You'd think it would be hard to love payroll software, but it really is a delight to use. Pros Incredible value for money. Beautifully written. Fully featured, with RTI and Auto-enrolment. Ability to email payslips or use a cloud self-service portal. Ability to email pension letters. Built in report writer. Cons Too easy to change addition/deduction descriptions and then the reporting doesn't include them. No nominal journal available, although the comprehensive reporting makes that a minor issue. Some features are hard-coded to the minimum legal levels - e.g. holiday pay, so it is difficult if you are a generous employer. Review Source CY Carol Y. June 2, 2017 5.0 Keep up the great work everyone @ BrightPay Pros If you have just the slightest knowledge of payroll (used to use HMRC software), you will find BrightPay a breeze. Its simple to use, all calculations are done for you. You can print detailed payslips, which was a first for me. I can also send information straight to our Automatic Enrolment pension provider. Has a great employee calendar to keep track of holidays, sick days and absences. As the title says, its so easy to use it is child's play. Cons There isn't anything negative I can say about this software, except the new cloud service that has recently appeared should be available without extra charge! It is intuitive to use and if you run into any problems, just email their team and they will sort it out very quickly, I mean, they really don't keep you waiting. They don't rest on their laurels though, they are improving this extremely good payroll system with improved functionality all the time. Give it a try, individuals and accountants who operate payroll for clients will be very happy with this highly efficient system. I found BrightPay after researching alternatives and have been using it for a few months now with no problems at all. I wouldn't say any accounting task is an absolute pleasure but it has become an easy activity and something I don't worry about any more. Pros Simple GUI, quick to set up, good facilities to send data to HMRC. Cons I've been caught out once or twice when the current month has moved forwards automatically. It’s a nice and modern user platform, simple and easy to use. It’s also excellent value for money. Easy to set up and use- it had a step by step questionnaire for setting up things like NI category, so you really can't go wrong! All other enquiries I've had have been answered by someone else on the easy-to-use website. Just a fabulous product. Pros Interactive display- a monkey could work it. Cons You have to pay once the business gets bigger, but hey ho- you guys have to pay the bills somehow, so I don't mind. When the gov introduced RTI the accountant jacked up the price so I decided to do the RTI myself. I looked at the HMRC tools and felt that it was still confusing and I was nervous about being fined for getting anything wrong. I looked around various packages, but most were more costly than the accountant and there's only me. In the end I came across brightpay and gave it a go. What appealed was the price for me - £0. Not only that, I have access to their support so have been asking questions. Pros Price, and still have access to support I can try out different wage payments, either as net or gross and see how much I can afford to pay myself - and the tax man Cons it doesn't allow you to go back in time so you have to restore an earlier version if you want to check any previous years data or make a P60 Review Source KS Kay S. Simply the best by far as we are a small business and haven't the time or know how with all that's what, helpful knowledgeable staff to offer guidance to all.....Thanks, Brightpay for making wages and reporting somewhat less daunting. Pros It is easy to use and if unsure the help session is easy to understand. Cons The only difficulty I had was at the beginning of auto enrolment as I have to manually create the file for sending the file to my pension provider but now that it is up and running it is ok. Pros Bright and clear screen to see steps required, Bright and easy to use, Bright and quick snapshot backup, easy to understand payslips, and general journals. Cons Wiggly worm on allocation of time spent on jobs. Difficult to get it to do what you want, and keep the others you have entered in place. I suggest boxes to type in % of time on job, or hours on job.
