Pros

It is free compared to others that i have used, it is compatible with a lot of devices that even the paid ones do not support.

Cons

On the beginning it was difficult to install, the documentation is poor, also the security on the core is not very reliable from my point of view.

AbanteCart is a good software option if you are a small business, or possibly even a larger one. I am a small business and it has worked well for me.

Pros

If you use AbanteCart anyone can sell products or services online to anyone you can reach on the internet. Everyone knows that most people now prefer shopping online .

Cons

It was a little tricky at first to get everything implemented.

I examined several other products and was deploying a competitor with little success. After examining the AbanteCart website, demo, documentation, and user forum I deployed. Deployment using bitnami was faultless as was setting up the site. Documentation includes under 2 minute youtube demonstrations on the critical steps. The list of included modules is impressive. 1) payment platforms, 2) shipping platforms, 3) Google Analytics, 4) recaptcha, 5) customer, order & sales reporting, and 6) integrated error logs.

Pros

Open source. Comprehensive included modules. Forum support -- less than 1 day in my experience. Documentation. Intuitive interface.

Cons

AH. None that I am aware of!

I have used several shopping carts over the years for various sizes and types of business. Abantecart is a very good cart, attractive for the user and easy to edit for admin. I recommend joining the community forum - it's a fast way to find answers to set-up queries. Only drawback with the cart at the moment is the limited range of extensions to extend functionality - for example there is only a US-English Language extension which means that if you are a UK trader, your website will contain US spellings and it will also default to US locations on some of the postal extensions. This state of affairs could be remedied by adding a UK-English Language extension to the range of extensions on offer. I am sure that this will happen in the future as more UK users come on board. All in all, this is a minor gripe which can be worked around if you are shopping cart savvy. I am very happy with Abantecart thus far.

There is a slight learning curve to it as a new user and it is more focused on physical products as opposed to services

Hi Guys !!! This is the first time I' m testing Abante and it looks pretty good ! I have a tiny little problem with index.php & config.php. The platform wants to change the permissions of these files. Although the permissions have been changed, Abante insists \[???\] This happens to the updated version 1.2.4. I don't know if this is a bug, but you are kindly requested to fix it. Try it !!!

This is not a bug. Make sure you put permission the way that your web server can not write to these 2 files. This is done to enforce security of your web application.

Lowered my software cost.

Pros

It does pretty much everything a shopping cart needs to do. USPS shipping is important to me and that works just fine.

Cons

Just small stuff. The reports option doesn't seem very sophisticated. I like to check to see how many items I have sold over a period of time. It seems to not work correctly as I get some weird numbers. Maybe I need to check out the function further.

This is a great product. I liked all the options and how easy it was to build my store. I hope I have selling success using the product.

Pros

I like the ease of use and the quality final product.

Cons

I wish I had a diagram of each area of the site and where to go to edit it. A sort of map that says, the contact or about us part of the webpage is edited by going here... The slide show on the front page is edited by going here.

I am almost done with my configuration and aiming to shift this test environment into production without any doubt. Very good module. Have actual combat, not just the appearance of a strong. More details on the collection of user feedback. For example, a unified classification of products (perhaps, but not yet found.) In addition, the page link SEO operation to achieve the difficulty, in accordance with the tutorial operation, is still not successful, but also need to further study. Why not directly generate HTML SEO static link?

Thank you for your comments Activation of SEO requires only 1 file update and switching setting to ON. File update is specific to hosting set up, and easily done as per instructions. SEO static links are generated automatically when you create/edit the product. Possibly that you did not notice this.

AbanteCart is good software on which to build a online store. I do enjoy it, however i find that it has a few minor weaknesses that need to be taken into consideration. With the constant changing economy and the currencies fluctuating in their exchange values regularly, there needs to be a more automated way to update the currencies from a central server. This way admins don't have to log in every 15 mins to consistently change this detail to avoid losses. A few free templates to assist users in having options in making their store look good is always good. AbanteCart has a block that provides the user with an option to say thank you to abantecart to advertise their product as well.

Pros

One of the best open source system Easy to setup. Easy to setup, super easy with quick wizard setup. Many free extensions. Support is also available through the forum with a community that quickly replies.

Cons

For some reason, if you access the site without www. it does not show some icons. little hard to customize the template.

Cons

Getting to know the application can take a while for a newbee but once there it is very easy. Bit hrad to find relavent documentation but once you now where to look it's easy

This software is very easy to setup and manage. Most of my web development experience is with wordpress, but there are some security risks such as brute-force attacks and also vulnerabilities with certain plugins so I decided to choose AbanteCart for my online store.The major plus about AbanteCart is that it comes with everything you need to sell products online. No searching for plugins and stuff. My only gripe is learning how to manage the homepage slider other than that this software rocks and I definitely recommend it for your online store because it's very manageable.

If it would stop replacing my pics with it's own sandbox pics every time it does an upgrade, I would be happier. I am definitely going to use something else. Not the first time this has happened. Extremely ticked off!

Pros

Should be good, because it's easy enough but as mentioned above, every time it upgrades, it's about 20 hours work for me!! Not good at all

Cons

Too annoying to mention. Dont upgrade and stuff things up, thanks.
