Comments: CatDV Pro is a tremendous resource if you have a need to track myriads of video and photo assets. It has unrivaled power and flexibility for metalogging clips and the amount of data it actually tracks for you is staggering. It can both view and playback many video codecs right out of the box. You additionally can create proxy files of video for low-res viewing across a LAN.
On the downside it can be prone to crash during a huge import when setting up a catalog. But it's auto-save feature works great and data entry is typically preserved in these cases.
I would recommend highly to enterprise-level users in an environment where multiple people are reaching the same assets, but it can also be a great help for single users.
